9361  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲 BITDICE -2019 mBTC Christmas and New Year Celebrations [2+ BTC in Prizes] 🎲 on: December 25, 2018, 10:46:51 AM
I am not saying about the total prizpool, the prizepool itself is already big enough but about the increasing, it is only 0.001 btc and if there is around $40k later on and the increasing is only around $40 which is I said it is too small for such a big site. Unless there is some other bonus than 2020mbtc

Anyway are you thinking that bitcoin going to be up that high again? Because I think it is only once in a life time that hit $20k last year

I know, but like you said it's already a big prize pool and maintaining it is good enough for this amount of money. And don't forget as the site grows, the value of CSNO could also grow higher. The fact that it's still worth a lot in terms of dividends is already something quite good given the market conditions. And yes, Bitcoin can be that high again. I doubt it will be so soon, and we may have to wait a couple of years but meanwhile getting dividends from growing play is something to look forward to while hodling.
9362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH is making some noise in the crypto market on: December 24, 2018, 11:50:22 AM
I saw it at $130 and then today above $150, while Bitcoin is still trying to make it level at $4200. I have no idea what to make of this!

Holding all my ETH for dear life since $400 so I suppose I should be happy that it seems to be making its way back but my concern is still that Constantinople is yet to come and people have not bought into it yet, at least not from the miners threads I see making their rounds. What's this pump all about? Just nature taking its course?
9363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 24, 2018, 11:10:21 AM
Been a really long time follower of Monero, was my first and still only privacy coin I still add to when I can. Yes, I've bought others, including even Digibyte now being discussed but all of them purely for speculation simply because I don't hold coins I can't use (yeah I know, it's maybe a dumb thing but if I don't have people I can buy things for with my coin, I don't see the point).

All the recent forks have somewhat shaken some of my confidence, but I take some heart that the old merchant network is still there, and XMR hasn't "died" yet in terms of price and is following the recovery trend like all others.

Are we now all back to reading strange whitepapers of new things we don't understand? Wink
9364  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bottom is in !! on: December 24, 2018, 09:46:58 AM
I wouldn't dare to overlook history, as pointed out by others in this thread, Bitcoin has dropped 90% and even 95% from ATH before recovery. It barely touched 3k this time around, so it was only 85% drop, so we shouldn't be surprised if it doesn't drop even further.

Not saying history is sure to repeat, but if we believe another ATH is coming, then we must believe the super low is also coming.

Too soon to call the bottom I believe.
9365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Africans Are Not Embracing Blockchain - Crypto ! on: December 23, 2018, 03:50:39 PM
You are so wrong here. Africans have been embracing financial technology long before most other continents it is just that as a continent, the people and economies still have a lot of hurdles to overcome. We talk about adoption but we forget that not everybody on this planet has internet or even smartphones. In Africa, if you don't live in the developed areas, internet is very hard to obtain and that alone means they cannot connect to the network of crypto.

But they are extremely good at financial tech with mobile phones (non smart phones). Lots of people there are using mobile payments, even more than US people! So if some day Bitcoin can just give simple use with normal devices, Africans will be very fast to join.
9366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: December 23, 2018, 12:30:24 PM
Yup, lost a bit of money last night, but that's the way it is. Amazing season so far and still lots more games to look forward to.

People were all talking about Spurs also tiring out, and saying it was Chelsea or Arsenal guaranteed to get top 4, but even without Kane making his best form we still have Son and Ali making the best of it.

They have 1 game away at Everton today, so strange that they have it at 2.2 to win, not that Everton is a weak team but surely Spurs is motivated to get 2 points behind City? Title race is not over. Not at all!
9367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum futures in the horizon? on: December 23, 2018, 12:09:22 PM
Well it looks like the pump came a bit late so I don't think this had anything to do with futures news. Futures for Bitcoin also generated a lot of excitement, but I don't think speculators want to look forward too much when Ethereum is cheap now.

I do agree though that futures are more "bad" than "good" for crypto, be it Bitcoin or Ethereum. It's a bit weird to think that people are trading in crypto like stock markets instead of actually buying the real thing. Soon, people will be "crypto traders" but never owning any wallets. Don't you think this is against what adoption is?
9368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum 40$ in 1-2 weeks on: December 23, 2018, 10:55:32 AM
Wow OK, I didn't expect Ether to make such a climb. Woke up today and saw Bitcoin was still struggling to hit 4k again but Ether above $130 now? All I can see in terms of news is Joe Lubin talking about the crypto floor already found. Bullish comments I guess but surely there's something else that can contribute to a more than 15% price spike?

Are people finally getting behind the hard fork?
9369  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betting Forum on: December 23, 2018, 10:16:11 AM
I agree with the above statements about the signature campaigns sometimes contributing to spam, but actually the situation has really improved in the past year, especially with merit systems coupled together with good campaign managers who keep an eye on quality. Personally, I've also been adviced on my quality or type of postings. I think as much as I've learnt from this forum I also hope I contribute to activity.

Gambling specific forums may be around already but the uniqueness of the threads here is that they're geared for Bitcoin and crypto. Today after being active for maybe 2 years, I realize the community and gamblers are very different from fiat. I've never had more fun gambling since finding Bitcoin games, plus the pools here are the best for interaction (sports pools). Fantasy football I've played elsewhere have almost no interaction.
9370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: December 22, 2018, 10:12:05 PM
You see what happens when you attack Manchester City? They leak goals too! Zaha has to be fit for Palace he keeps making problems for any defence, I think he could even squeeze past anyone in the league now.

But well done to United. I don't like them so much under Mourinho and just see how things change if you play attack and play positive. Great win, yes of course it was only Cardiff but when United have lost to bottom teams before, this means things are on track. Hope they knock out PSG in Champions League and make the sheikhs lose more money for another season.
9371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cloudbet's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 22, 2018, 11:21:56 AM
Agree with Trofo, if Liverpool keep playing this way, then I have to say they deserve the luck as Mourinho said, to go on and win it. City are of course good too, but we are all sick of them. What I don't like is teams still play Liverpool like they can be beaten, whereas they play City like a draw is great.

Wolves are deserving of every praise also. I watched the game and I was really quite shocked at how Liverpool managed to still come out with 2 good goals and kept the clean sheet. I think even City did not look so comfortable against the same Wolves side. They are really strong and they deserve to get Europa League place at least. If every team played like them against City though, they won't have won the league so easily last season.
9372  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲 BITDICE -2019 mBTC Christmas and New Year Celebrations [2+ BTC in Prizes] 🎲 on: December 22, 2018, 09:53:07 AM
At last the event is coming, may be it is a little bit later for me to reply this but I am really excited to have this kind of competition around. But as shield said, in next year it should be 2020mbtc which it is really low in increased the prizepool, 0.001 btc increase in a year is a little bit low for sure. But I cant judge yet because it is a long way to go but I do hope something more in every year Grin

Low increase in prize pool? But who knows, one year from now is a really really long time. Remember what happened Christmas 2017 from a year ago? BTC jumped what, more than x10?

So who knows next Christmas we get to see BTC at over $40k... hahaha. Then the prize pool at 2.020 would be almost $100k. Tell you, there's no bigger prize to play for these days, and for doing what we do anyway!
9373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Fantasy Football League 2018 on: December 22, 2018, 08:41:02 AM
Hey guys, never saw this thread here before, looks pretty active why don't you put this in the gambling or gambling discussion thread? I'm sure there are some gamblers with Monero there, and might get more joiners if you start a new season later next year? Don't know about American football but the statistics plays would bring in a lot of players.

I notice there's a couple of users I recognize from the list too. Nice game guys.
9374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum 40$ in 1-2 weeks on: December 22, 2018, 07:43:31 AM
Know what I think? We need more people to open more threads like this. The worse the predictions and more ridiculous, the better the market seems to react. Seriously though, we could very well still see double digits Ether again. Went all the way up to $117 even yesterday but then couldn't hold on for even 5 hours. Once it hits 90 again if it does, anything goes. $40 is only 45% of $90.
9375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bright future for Ripple? on: December 21, 2018, 11:09:47 AM
XRP has really done well to be honest. I don't like it one bit as an investment coin. It's one of the few coins I did buy purely to speculate, so I'm not too unhappy that it's at 37 cents (I always bought around or below 50 cents). It's centralized as can be so no doubt it will one day pump again to 1 dollar, if not more, and may hit or break ATH should a bull run occur (I would say 2020 though).

By the time 2019 ends, most of the holdings from founder would have been sold off too, so I guess the selling pressure will end by then. And if some banks also start using it (don't count on it though), whatever price it's at by end 2019 should be the bottom value.
9376  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did we hit the bottom already? on: December 21, 2018, 09:43:09 AM
Personally I think it's sort of scary to see crypto gain double digit growth in just 1 week, especially when the entire year has just been a steady decline. I was really hoping after hitting the floor, we might see a slow trend of going down more, before again stabilizing around 3.5k (BTC) like we did for a month at around 6k.

I always feel the price shouldn't rise until everything is stable and extremely good volume trading. I'm just afraid that profit taking now means we have to wait even more for potential drops.
9377  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲 BITDICE -2019 mBTC Christmas and New Year Celebrations [2+ BTC in Prizes] 🎲 on: December 21, 2018, 09:01:35 AM
Now that's what I'm talking about! Didn't even realize it was 20.19 for 2019 until pointed out! Probably not an option if you're not a holiday gambler (like me) but I think CSNO holders can look forward to some heavy betting action to bring a nice close to the year's dividends plus crypto recovery maybe on the way?

I'll be taking a break from internet but back for the final week of action til 10th. Wonder which whale will come out of the shadows for this!
9378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 21, 2018, 07:54:58 AM
-snip-
About Rabiot - I don't know why Barca would need him - now midfield is full in Barca after they bought Melo summer. Rabiot now has been suspended by PSG and he will not play this season anymore in PSG squad. Now I read news that they reached agreement with Valencia to loan defender Murillo. Center defender position is really problematic in Barca.
And Isco - I don't think that we can call The Sun, Daily Mail and other tabloids as serious sources. For Real it would be stupid to sell him this January.
Rabiot can add squad depth into the team, plus you never know when a player will get injured or suspended. And if PSG wants sell him for a cheap price, then why not? About Murillo, it's definitely an odd choice, there were better choices in the market but I guess they wanted to sign a CB asap.

And Isco, there's a bit of a "toxic" atmosthere surrounding him right now which is not good for both the club and the dressing room. And according to rumours, he is the one that wants to leave the club so why not grant him the wish?

Well I hope Rabiot goes to the Catalans. I'm really very happy with where Barca are at the moment, and every season so far in the past few we've managed to gain a stronger and stronger hold over Real (except in Champions League meh), but each season we see more of our players aging. Suarez is still fit as always but he cannot be at his peak for long more. Same as Messi. Coutinho may last many more years but we do need more and more depth in midfield, we have never really asked for a better defence as long as we pack the midfield we are good.

And yes, always allow a player to leave when he wants to. I think the only example I can think of where player forced or convinced to stay and did well was De Gea for United.
9379  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin casinos experience, wagered 30000BTC on: December 21, 2018, 06:55:18 AM
In todays accounts this is about 120 million dollars wagered. He didn't said he lost 30 thousand bitcoins gambling, he said he "wagered" 30 thousand bitcoins. I am sure he still lost a lot of money but even at a %1 house edge that's about 300 bitcoins lost in total which comes down to over a million lost.

Now he could have lost all of it, he could have lost less but in reality spending about 120 million dollars is not the same as having 120 million dollars, you can have 1 satoshi and you can bet and get 2 satoshi back, now you can gamble that again and hurray you gambled 3 satoshis with the 1 satoshi you had.

Which means over time this person could had just couple thousand dollars that he gambled constantly and consistently that collectively became 30 thousand bitcoins. Considering the low price at his early days, this could potentially be much much less.

Exactly what I said too. I generally can wager over 100x my deposits if I play very cautiously, and at dice at a place with 1 % house edge, which is common among Bitcoin casinos anyway. If you are VERY cautious you can get a very high wager amount with a large bankroll, and every time using small profits to wager again until bust.

This way, 300 bitcoins is not impossible and if you check wager histories if those who gambled since 2014 and 2015, they of course have so much wager amounts.
9380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So much for your stupid idea to fucking HODL - Dumbest thing ever on: December 21, 2018, 06:24:14 AM
Both hodling and trading have their benefits. It's stupid to call one or the other side losers, like rawdog is doing.
The advantages of being a hodler?
  • don't risk anything by moving coins around
  • don't hold money on exchanges
  • don't risk being tracked by the government or hackers
  • aren't trading and don't have to pay taxes because you are always in crypto, never in fiat
  • getting profits anyway without unnecessary risks
  • aren't trading and don't have to pay taxes because they are always in crypto, never in fiat
  • don't watch the price and don't waste time on trading
  • don't worry about the price. When others are panicking you are calm and the longer you hodl the easier it is to remain calm.

Advantage of being holder for me is exactly all these points. I make my investment, and forget about it much. This means I still have my job in real life, nothing changes for me. I progress in my work I still learn and I of course make use of my extra time to learn more about crypto. It hasn't helped me much practically, but I don't spend all my time trading and worrying. If Bitcoin goes bust, I lose some money but anyway I would have lost it doing other things. At least since buying crypto, I haven't been wasting my time as in the past just spending on entertainment.
