9382  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What can I do to correct the mistake? on: April 12, 2021, 09:06:28 AM
Bounty threads get infested with report spam quickly and it's possible the campaign manager will never see or react to your post. Why didn't you mention in the bounty thread that you made a mistake when submitting your info and copied the userID of another forum member? You only said that you made a mistake and want to take a break. The campaign managed doesn't know you need anything changed. When and if you decide to come back from your break, you have to contact the manager a second time to have him correct the mistake in the spreadsheet.

If you still don't know your userID, it's 3155973.
9383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Benefits of developing coin. on: April 12, 2021, 08:35:48 AM
Many coins that have been created in the past and those that will be created in the future only exist so that a centralized group (core developers and those close to them) can profit from them. They don't offer anything new or create any benefits to the users compared to what was available before their creation.

cryptoaddictchie mentioned Vitalik. I think he sold like half a million of ethereum many years ago. Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoin did the same thing with his bag of LTCs. I am sure this list is much longer, but you see the point.

Without knowing the threads and the topics in which you made those posts, it's difficult to speculate on the reasons why your posts got deleted. Even if they weren't off-topic, they can be deleted for other reasons.

Maybe you were repeating what others already said and some user/users started getting irritated and went through your post history reporting those kind of posts. I am just speculating, but many users don't read the threads they reply to. They read the OP, maybe a few posts below it, the last post in the thread, and then they comment. Just to be sure, read the whole thread (top to bottom) to ensure that what you are writing hasn't already been suggested and written by other users before you.
9385  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cryptocurrency Casino Sites? on: April 12, 2021, 06:50:07 AM
Ironically the land of the free doesn't allow much leeway for crypto exchanges too.
The land of the free is interested in generating money through taxes and you are free as long as you pay your taxes. Grin

The United States allows each State to create their own laws when it comes to gambling. A big majority of States allow at least some sort of gambling. It's not uncommon that local laws allow playing at licensed casinos, but make betting on sports illegal or vice versa. Some time ago I read somewhere that you are not allowed to operate an online casino (which also includes online crypto casinos) anywhere in the United States. However, you are still allowed to play at certain online platforms who will gladly accept US players. It's best to check with official institutions what the legal frameworks look like in your place of willing to be safe.
9386  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You won today, but then you will lose often on: April 12, 2021, 06:33:21 AM
You should have stopped after you made a profit of 3 times your deposit. That already puts you ahead of the majority of gamblers who first lose money and then play more chasing their losses and trying to come out on top. You are already showing signals of becoming an addict if the occasional game here and there is turning into you considering becoming a VIP member. Seek help before it's too late and consider the needs of those around you who are impacted by your decisions. You'll get rid of gambling addiction when you understand what your priorities are and stop chasing a dream.
9387  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: One more Ledger leak? on: April 11, 2021, 09:22:07 PM
We could be wrong thinking there were 2 different leeks. Both Ledger and Shopify mention that data was stolen using an API key.

I think this is the timeline of the entire incident:

1. April - June: Members of Shopify support team steal data of over 200 merchants.
2. July 14: Someone informs Ledger Donjon security team that they have suffered a breach.
3. Ledger claims they "immediately fixed the data breach". I am not sure what this means and what was fixed.
4. After that, they conducted an investigation and discovered that the breach happened through an API key.
5. July 29: Ledger informs the community of the breach and sends a report to law enforcement.
6. September: Shopify releases a statement that mentions that data of over 200 merchants were stolen.
7. December: Spotify informs Ledger that among the records that were stolen by their employees, there were also private records of Ledger users.

If this is the correct timeline, how did the person who informed Ledger in the bug bounty know about the breach? I remember reading that no data was public at that time (again allegedly). Did the person inspect the faulty API key?

Ledger says:

Quote
We immediately fixed the data breach and launched internal investigations. We discovered a malicious attacker had gained unauthorized access to our e-commerce and marketing database via a third party’s API key.
https://www.ledger.com/blog/update-efforts-to-protect-your-data-and-prosecute-the-scammers

These sentences make it sound like Ledger fixed the breach first, then they launched an investigation. It was during the investigation that they discovered the API key. Again, how did they fix the breach before the investigation if the investigation lead to the discovery of the API key?
9388  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: SCAM upozorenja Zbirni topic on: April 11, 2021, 08:50:49 PM

9389  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cryptocurrency Casino Sites? on: April 11, 2021, 01:12:53 PM
Many users suggested some of the most popular crypto casinos on this forum but without taking into consideration one important element. OP is from the United States. Many of the sites suggested here have a Curacao gaming license. According to that e-gaming license, players from several countries like France, Netherlands, and the USA, are restricted from playing. mu_enrico seems like the only one who noticed that.

USA is very peculiar when it comes to online gambling. It's allowed, but only (and mostly) if the casino is registered in the same state where the player resides and gambles. If you want to be a law-abiding citizen, you most probably can't play on most crypto casinos.

A quick search led me to https://bitwin.io/casino/. If that list is to be trusted, there are several bitcoin casinos that welcome players from the USA. Check it for yourself to get the whole picture.
9390  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: One more Ledger leak? on: April 11, 2021, 12:54:19 PM
I'm also a little confused as I've seen somewhat conflicting information that this "hack" was actually an inside job conducted by one or more Shopify employees who abused their position to access/copy the data and then sell it on the black market.

Which seems somewhat at odds with the reports of the "bug bounty" that some guy found a "misconfigured" API key that enabled external access etc.
I always thought that the Spotify breach was a separate incident to what happened to Ledger. Maybe because the public was first made aware that Ledger's database got hacked/leeked, and only after that we discover that it was due to Shopify's personnel that the database was stolen in the first place (allegedly).

In this report, Ledger claims they were made aware that there was a breech through a third-party API key in July 2020. Back then, they were still suspecting that complete details of only 9.500 customers were leeked + 1 million emails. They went public and informed people what happened, or more precisely, what they though had happened.

The article goes on to mention that it wasn't until December 2020 that they found out that the breech was much bigger. Shopify informed them that records of Ledger users were among 200 other merchants that were affected by those rogues Shopify employees.

If Ledger manages to prove they took appropriate measures between July-December 2020 based on the data they had and that they weren't lying, the repercussions might not be that severe. They will still have to answer how it was possible that they didn't discover the malicious API key that exported the data and why their customer's personal information wasn't encrypted or deleted. They might claim that the responsibility to store client information was Shopify's duty, not Ledger's. The fact they had a bug bounty might be seen as a mitigating measure, and that they showed an interest in strengthening their systems. We will have to see whether or not that holds up in court.
9391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cars That Can Be Purchased with Bitcoin on: April 11, 2021, 12:21:30 PM
However, I live in a country where using bitcoin to purchase goods or cars is prohibit.
Hold on to your coins. Regulatory frameworks and laws can always change. When it comes to the government's stand towards cryptocurrencies, when they realize they can tax it and benefit from it, their opinions could change. Even if it doesn't, you never know what the future holds for you and one day you might find yourself living and working a a crypto-friendly nation.
9392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Apr 2021] Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: April 11, 2021, 09:12:30 AM
It's Sunday and the mempool looks good just like last week at this time. I am sure that many of the transactions in the 5-7 sat/vByte range will be confirmed today. Right now, 7-8 sat/vByte is probably enough for a next block confirmation. Keep your eyes on the mempool and consolidate your inputs while the fees are down.
9393  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: One more Ledger leak? on: April 11, 2021, 08:00:23 AM
As stated by The Block in its post:
Quote
The degree to which Ledger and Shopify communicated with customers about the ongoing breach and their respective responsibility for phishing victims that resulted are likely to be critical points of the case.
The prosecution will have to prove that Ledger was aware of the extent and size of the breach from the very beginning beyond a reasonable doubt. Unless someone testifies and confirms this or there are documents that can prove that Ledger knew the size of the breach, I think they might get away with it and claim we simply didn't know. When we found out, we informed the general public. It's certainly going to be an interesting case to follow.
9394  Other / Meta / Re: Change Account Password Regularly. on: April 11, 2021, 06:56:32 AM
I haven't changed my password for a long time, nothing happened, maybe I am lucky?
Accounts don't get stolen that easy. Unless your device isn't vulnerable, you aren't using an easy to guess/bruteforce password, and there isn't a recent database breach, you will be fine. And unless you used the same password on another site that got leeked of course.

I like how they do it at my current job. Every 3 months we are required to change the password to log in to the main platform. And they have a system in place similar to Skype's. You can't reuse an old password. It has to be a new and unique password. Maybe this is also a possible attack vector because it means that a server somewhere compares the entries (hashes) you make with the ones you used in the past.
9395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why there's no USDT (trc20) deposit method in gambling sites on: April 10, 2021, 05:43:36 PM
I think the reason why they don't support it is because the majority of casinos were developed and became operational several years ago before DeFi became a trend. Before DeFi, transacting cheaply with ETH was possible. It's a totally different situation right now. The developers are slow to introduce new features. You can compare that with Native SegWit compatibility on crypto exchanges. There are still many exchanges that don't recognize bech32 addresses for withdrawals.

Imagine you have placed bet with tron when price of TRX is $0.10; you won the bet with an odd of 2.00, you discovered in the next few hours that TRX price has been decreased to $0.05. What's your net gain? IMO, nothing cause you are still with the same USD value.
At the end of the day, if TRX loss value much, you will be loser.
How is that different from when you place bets with other cryptocurrencies? If you place a bet with bitcoin at $61.000 and bitcoin falls to $50.000 the day after, you find yourself in a similar situation. The probability of that happening isn't important right now because theoretically it can.

There are lists of gambling sites that accepts USDT.
It's not about whether or not they accept USDT, it's about whether or not they accept USDT over the TRON network.

Pmalek, you are truly amazing, where you just find all that information?  Grin
Thanks! It's just raw talent I guess Grin

I think Lamborghini will be my choice  Cheesy
Be careful with Lamborghinis on our roads. Those two don't always fit well.

My question remains would it be economically wise to use Bitcoin to do transactions considering the fee charged for each transaction?
Banks charge fees for all transactions. The same goes for payment providers such as PayPal or Skrill. I can answer that with a counter-question. Is it wise to use a bank to receive money over international borders considering that banks and their intermediary banks charge at least $€10-50 per international wire transfer?

I'm sure after Bitcoin passes $100k some people may be looking to trade up their car, what better way than to use Bitcoin to take profits and reward yourself.
While I researched this topic before writing this thread, I found an interview with a car dealer who sells sports and luxury cars. He mentioned that during the bull run of 2017, there was a huge increase of clients who purchased expensive cars from him with cryptocurrencies (mostly bitcoin). 20 customers in a short period of time.
9397  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do any exchanges/other TRUSTED online resources accept wallet.dat file-uploads? on: April 10, 2021, 07:48:58 AM
If you haven't done so already, you can use TryNinja's site https://findmycoins.ninja/ to check for any forked coins you own. Unfortunately, there is no shortcut in the process of claiming hard forks. The most important thing is to transfer bitcoin from those addresses first before importing their private keys into non-bitcoin software.

When scammers see your OP, they will probably PM you offering their services. Most of the time they'll ask you to send them your wallet.dat file. Never do that, they are lying, they can't help you, and only want to steal your coins. Each step of the claiming and recovery process should be public.
9398  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Dating apps and websites crypto scam on: April 10, 2021, 07:11:06 AM
Never heard that they can exploit money through dating app? I've known tinder as it is a famous social dating app but never imagine that scammer can use that for what?
It's known as a "romance scam" or "love scam". You can google it and you will find plenty of sources talking about it. It's not new, scammers have only advanced their tactics by asking payments be made in cryptocurrencies instead of fiat because they are harder to track.

Widowers and middle-aged women are often the targets of such scams. Boy-toys approach them via dating sites trying to win them over with their charm. The aim is to gain their trust, have them fall in love, and exploit their feelings to profit from it. They do that in various ways. Some pretend they have a private business and are in debt. The COVID pandemic is a great cover to use right now. If they don't come up with a few grand soon, they'll have to close their business and sob stories like that. Others ask for money to fly out and visit you or pay their taxes... The victims who are now in love believe everything they say and many of them send money and are ready to do anything.

A few years ago there was a story about a local guy from my country who used similar techniques to exploit over $40.000 AUD from a business-woman from Australia. She believed everything he said and invested in his "business". She never saw her money or him again.

Tesla made plenty of headlines recently when they announced they’ve made it possible to purchase their cars with Bitcoin.
