Interesting read here for those who were around in December:

Drexme confesses.

Wow. I'm stunned.

About a month ago I was doing 'research' and landed doges.org, and that's when I noticed Drexme was listed as admin. Was going to mention it here, but then I thought better of it -- maybe he had turned a new leaf, learned a lesson, etc.

Sure I took 30k worth of NXT from a fundraiser. But it wasn't worth what it is now.

Your bringing back things that happened 2 months ago.

At that time (21-12) the 33900 Nxt would have fetched him 1-1,5 BTC on DGEX.

That's about 600-900 USD theft at prices those days. :/

Here is version 2.0 of my Windows NXT client "NXT Solaris".

It is now open-source. Source code is included in the download archive.

Donations
I hope you like my client and I’d be extremely happy to see some donations for the future of this project!

NXT: 1758531264253431177

Do I get a prize for writing the "Fastest Obsolete Review"?

Exactly 4 hours!

Wink

Sorry for that. Kind of bad timing.

Thanks again for your effort with the client reviews!

Thanks Smiley

At least I set a record!

I had a question surrounding the ROI for the charity event and not knowing who Blu Cantrell was in another thread, I wanted to address it here as well:

"I'd be happy to address it since this is one of my specializations. If you want to break mainstream news, you need to give writers a story. In our own Nxt bubble, it's easy to get frustrated about the lack of coverage we get when we send out news... but to be honest, that's just not how the world works. Dogecoin understands this intimately with their recent charity drives and news.  I've made the phone calls (my experience can be tracked through both Feathercoin and Peercoin) and it's always the same thing... they want something big to write about.

There's a reason professional poker focused so much on charity events as it fought to become more mainstream. The goodwill generated from events like this make life much easier for PR teams.  If this community decides to pass on it, that's fine.. but it's a mistake from an ROI perspective. It's not about the event, it's about everything around it.

As for Blue Cantrell, well, that's entirely different point. While I appreciate (and live) geek culture, mainstream news that covers mainstream audiences is exactly who I would like to target.

Check my history with Sunny King with Peercoin, I know what I'm talking about in this realm. Either way, I appreciate the consideration.
"

+1. What is the donation account for this project? I believe many people will open their NXT wallets for it.

Fantastic! I'm just waiting for Salsacz to give me a donation address (he's keeping it in escrow) and I'll make the formal launch! We'll be able to write press releases around topics like:

- Bitcoin competitor Nxt raises $10k to support sick children
- Nxt donates $10k to children's charity Songs of Love

We could do interviews with the foundation, put the charity information prominently on the website, use pics from the event in future marketing. Once we start breaking through it becomes much easier to get other writers on board with future news.  This is not about 1 event, it's about kicking off the PR in high gear. The community wants results, I'm laying out a solid blueprint on how to make it happen.

I like it.  Smiley

@Pin: ?

@d13id: For the first video+audio draft, I'm sure Joefox will help you. Sound expert and smooth voice. And we should work on the content a little more.

thank you, but this is not my initiative. just saying when they wanna do something for the community, deliver first and then ask for money not the other way around

I did my youtube channel (165 subs, 7000 views) and facebook for free, but seems that isnt good enough so I am saying to them make it happen.

You can't demand that everyone plays by the rules you set for yourself. Well, you can, but I don't think it will help at all.

He is asking for donations, and if he hires people, that is normal.

He is not saying ANYTHING about your efforts at all.

Sorry, but in this case, I just totally disagree with you.

Edit: and that is no reflection of my appreciation for your large efforts, either. They stand!

Which of these clients are running on linux, did I get it right?

Looks OK.

Solaris is Windows only, not MacOS.

I think, Solaris will be developed for Mac in the future. I changed it.

Yes, Solaris will be available for Mac, too.

Just finished the showcase for it: Client showcase: NXT Solaris

very unimportant part, but I will mention it: nxtclients.org forwards to nxtclient.org - maybe it should be nxtclient.org from the start?

btw did I miss any clients?

I prefer nxtclients, because it highlights that we have many clients, but it's no biggy.

There is also Freerider, but that's still very experimental: http://www.quicknxt.com/FreeRider

www.swisscex.com.
It's only about 2 weeks old, so the trade volumes are still way too low, but the exchange itself runs like a watch, real pleasure to use.

I see what you did there.  Smiley

February 2014: Nxt Client Month!

I think it's safe to say that February will be regarded as a pivotal month in the history of Nxt.
Like it or not, one of Nxt's big weaknesses has been the availability of clients that are both easy to use and easy to install.
That problem has now been solved.

On the 13th and the days preceding we saw the release of not one, not two, but FIVE one-click clients!

Several user-made clients were released: NXT Solaris, NXT Wallet, dotNXT and ClieNXT all saw updates released to a form
that has become increasingly useful to mainstream users. In addition to this, early NXT Exchange DGEX also released
the first version of their Nxt client Offspring.

All of these easy to install clients make use of the existing features that Nxt offers:
sending and receiving Nxt, create and assign aliases, sending and receiving messages using the Nxt decentralised data transfer system
Arbitrary Messages and are ready for use with Nxt's Asset Exchange system.

Every one of these clients brings something unique to the table.
For instance, ClieNXT is a very slim client, which opts for a clean interface.
NXT Solaris on the other hand, sports a multitude of options and features, like a tool for comparing Exchanges in real-time.
NXT Wallet works in your browser and is simply stunning to see.

The results are easy to see: the prices for Nxt have risen by approximately 25% over the last two days.
Combined with the start of the test phase of Nxt's revolutionary Asset Exchange, Nxt is more than living up to its promise of
delivering not just a new currency to the crypto scene, but a complete framework to build an online economy.

All mentioned clients can be found at nxtclients.org.

Damelon? Pls when you think we are ready, post here an article about new Nxt clients (like a press release for people on altcoin magazines). So the community could also make some corrections. If you think you won't be able to do it, let us know too Smiley

Working on one now.
Also working on making one about Nxt Solaris, which was planned for today.  Smiley

Team,

We have a major opportunity with the charity to be the official sponsor:

"We can bill it as Nxt presents…,

Check out who we have on the bill:

songsoflove.org/LA

We can change the bitcoin Logo to Nxt."

Not only would we gain press before the event (which would open doors to a number of different writers), we would get media exposure at the event. I need to work out the details this weekend, but yeah... I'm pumped.  If Dogecoin can raise $30k for a bobsled team, I see no reason we can't raise $10k+.

Blu Cantrell will be there... guys, this is a huge event.

Sorry for the lack of response so far, but u guys are kinda rushing in the door and announcing breathlessly that u have a great opportunity for us......we need to cover some basics first.

1) Does the NXT community want to throw cash out now on mainstream marketing? The clients are all good, but we are still a long way from being ready to attract and keep Joe Public on the NXT boat. Conferences seem to be a very good use of marketing right now, that and getting the tech up and running....

2) Do we want to be associated with this event anyway ? I know some NXT'ers are totally against charity marketing.
WTF is songsoflove.org all about ?

Give us more info, pls, start a debate, get a decision from the NXT community.

BTW. Blu Cantrell ? Cute, nice tunes, but not exactly A-list, eh?
or did I miss something in the last decade?

As long as this is a private thing, the community needs not decide Smiley

What do you want/need of us?

Do you want us to make people aware of it?
I'm also not sure what your "call to action" here is?

More info would be helpful Smiley

956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 14, 2014, 05:28:33 PM
It turns out the transition to fractional amounts, which is required for reducing the minimum fee, will not be that simple. It would require adding a new transaction type, because the current ordinary payment transaction stores amounts and fees with 1 NXT precision, not multiplied by 100 as in the account balance. So it will take longer to implement and test. The positive side is that while doing that we can make the fractional part allow amounts much lower than 0.01, so we will achieve much higher divisibility.

Well, that's a silver lining!

Also means we keep discussing the pros and cons of lowering the fee.
I was afraid I'd have to miss my weekend entertainment!  Cheesy
