Japan and United Arab Emirates are playing their only remaining match at the Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup. UAE is now 144/3. They may get to a total of ~350 and get a consolation win today. For Japan, the fact that they are participating in this tournament is a big plus. And unlike the case with UAE, Japan had 4-5 native players in their squad (although the majority were either British or Indian). Even that is much better when compared to the UAE, who had their last native player representing the team sometime in the 1990s.

The first semi-final in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 will be played today between Haryana and Tamil Nadu. Haryana has been the surprise package this year, and they defeated Bengal during the quarter-finals. They have some excellent players such as Rahul Tewatia, Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel. On the other hand, Baba Indrajith and Baba Aparajith has been in excellent form for Tamil Nadu, along with their bowlers such as Manimaran Siddharth and Varun Chakravarthy. For today's match, I would say that the advantage is with Tamil Nadu.

Boring 2nd T-20 primarily thanks to rain interfering once again. 180 against the South African firepower with a medicore Indian bowling lineup was never going to be enough. Arshdeep is easily one of the biggest leakers in the Indian team these days.

Am worried how rain will affect the upcoming test series between both teams.

Arshdeep for sure seems to have some powerful backers in the Indian team. This guy bowls like shit and yet get included in the squad everytime. On the other hand, bowlers such as Mukesh Kumar and Deepak Chahar have made use of whatever opportunity they have got so far. Anyway, the outcome questions the much hyped player depth in Indian team. With second string squads, they are unable to win against a team like South Africa. And the South African squad was missing many of their regular players.

You have a weird obsession with Trans-Tasmen series  Tongue. It's considered one of the dead bilateral series in Australia, it's similar to Ind vs SL where only one team wins and statspad all the time.

I noticed many posters are here saying that Test cricket is dying, this statement is half true. Numbers suggest that in BIG-3, it's doing more than enough, you have to look at how CA and ECB are fetching big amounts for their test series against India. In the current cycle Media rights deal broke the previous records.

Test cricket is dying argument only works when someone is playing 3 or 2 matches series.

New Zealand always plays their best when they take on Australia. And that is what makes this series exciting to watch. And a few years ago, New Zealand was the top test side and these matches used to be very competitive. But now they are considerably weakened, and I don't know whether they can be competitive anymore against Australia. There is still a lot of money involved in test cricket, especially in matches involving India, Australia, Pakistan and England. But the share in overall revenue is declining, if I am not wrong.

I honestly think that it is time for cricket to let go of test cricket. And this is one format that absolutely nobody watches. Everybody just watches the result of the test match and the highlights at max. No one actually watches the whole test match for 5 days. I am pretty sure that nobody actually watches a test match for even a single day. It is just not the best investment by the ICC. I personally think this quick should not be a format in this day and age.

BCB has a lot of problems going on. I think it is one of the most corrupt cricket boards in the whole world. And that's why improvements are not happening.

Well... I agree that the number of test matches should be reduced. Apart from a few series such as the Ashes, Border-Gavaskar and Trans-Tasman, very few cricket fans nowadays watch the test matches. And even then, teams spend anywhere from 50 to 80 days every year playing test cricket (more than that in any other format). The way to move forward is to reduce the number of test matches, and to increase the number of T20 matches. But there is a lot of resistance from the ICC and BCCI. The sooner they realize it, that better.

WI Vs ENG
A target of 172 runs in T20 is not a big target but all these scores are easy targets for any team. England have given West Indies a target of 172 runs and West Indies are batting on that target. Aggressive batting from André Russell and Rovman Powell has kept West Indies very close to victory. West Indies need 19 runs from 19 balls till the end. West Indies will definitely win today's match if no special miracle happens. One thing I have to say is that England cricket is going through a really bad situation. England has to come out of this bad situation otherwise England cricket will face huge problems.

West Indies won the match by 4 wickets, with almost two overs to spare. After winning the ODI series, now they have upper hand with the T20I series as well. England failed to build on the start given to them by Phil Salt and Jos Buttler. Apart from Liam Livingstone, none of the other batsmen were able to dig in. And players like Sam Curran and Chris Woakes wasted a lot of balls towards the end. 190 would have been a good total at the Kensington Oval, but England could manage only 171 (and they were 117/2 after 10.4 overs).

Out of the 12 recent polls listed on RealClearPolitics, Donald Trump is leading in 11 polls, while Joe Biden is leading on one from Economist/YouGov. On average, Trump has a lead of +2.4%. This is an all-time high for Trump, ever since he joined active politics in 2016. The border situation will result in a Democrat wipeout in 2024, if there are no drastic changes. When a left-wing pollster puts Trump ahead by 10 points in a lean-blue state like Michigan, you know how bad is the situation for the Democrats. But what surprises me is the fact that the Dems are yet to wake up from their deep slumber.

India perhaps lost because of Temba Bavuma's absence. He's like the lucky charm for India. If he was there, then obviously India would have won, as he wastes a lot of balls. BTW, I don't understand the reason why Indian selectors are persisting with Arshdeep Singh, despite repeated poor performances with the ball recently. There are a lot of promising pace bowlers out there, and they need a chance as well. Also, I would say that Mohammed Siraj could have been rested in this series. He is not doing anything extra-ordinary at this moment.

Apart from Tabraiz Shamsi, everyone got the stick in South African bowling lineup. Perhaps they should have included Keshav Maharaj in the squad. But then, Indians are very comfortable against spinners and that would be a difficult decision for the South African selectors.  India has lost 5 wickets till now, and Ravindra Jadeja has joined Rinku Singh at crease. India may end up at 180-190, which should be a winnable total at this ground. But then, don't forget the fact that Bavuma is not playing in this match. That can be bad news for South Africa.

Ok im understand. It seems that getting a draw is more likely in this match. You are right that Al-Taawoun is still much better than Al-Ettifaq. And after I looked at Al-Ettifaq's match history in the last few weeks, it turns out that, as you said, Al-Ettifaq didn't get many points and instead more often drew or lost. And it looks like I won't bet on Al-Ettifaq because it seems quite risky. even though they are hosting.

Both Al Ettifaq and Al Taawoun are good teams, and they have performed credibly so far in this season. For quite long time, Al Taawoun was at the no.3 position in points table, but after their 3-0 loss to Al Hilal, they dropped to 4th position. Al Ettifaq lost a few matches recently, but still they have good players such as Moussa Dembélé, Jordan Henderson and Demarai Gray. But you are right about the comparison between the two teams. Ettifaq hasn't won any of their matches for quite some time, but Al Taawoun has the momentum with them.

South Africa's batting order is in good form as we have seen in the World Cup. I think that the players of the team will perform better in their own field now. On the other hand, India defeated Australia by 4-1 in the last T20 series. The performance of the Indian players was also quite good. But now they will play on the South African pitch. Indian pitches and African pitches are completely different. I am looking forward to see how the Indian team will perform on the pace friendly pitch. Kohli and Rohit are not with the squad. If these two players were in the squad, maybe the Indian team would have been stronger.

One of the issues for South Africa was that they were forced to include non-performing players such as Temba Bavuma in the squad. But for the current series, they don't need to do that and Reeza Hendricks will be opening batting along with Matthew Breetzke. And both the batsmen are in terrific form, which is likely to create a few headaches for Indian bowlers such as Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh. BTW, Gerald Coetzee and Nandre Burger are likely to open bowling for South Africa, and this will pose a tough challenge for the Indian batsmen.

@Sithara007 I wasn’t expecting much from Nepal but this was a very poor performance and something the player’s won’t be proud off and I hope that they’ll work hard for future matches. Also team India definitely performed very well and who knows some of these player’s could go on to play in main Indian team in coming year’s as even Kohli was discovered when he used to play in the under 19s.

Yeah.. Nepal performed worse than expected. Their performance against Pakistan and Afghanistan was not exceptional, but it was at least decent. But today they got completely demolished by India. They lost the match by 10 wickets, with 257 balls to spare. And the Nepal team is not that weak. Squad contained players such as Dev Khanal and Gulsan Jha, who have represented the senior side before. But none of the players could get to a double digit score and the total would have looked much worse if the Indian bowlers hadn't conceded 13 extras.

LOL.. Nepal has crawled to 52 against India at the Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup. None of the batsmen could score in double digits and top-scorer was Hemant Dhami with 8 runs. Nepal had posted three digit totals against Pakistan and Afghanistan, so this match was a bit disappointing for them. Anyway, they should be proud that they managed to qualify for this tournament. Raj Limbani returned figures of 9.1-3-13-7 for India. India is already above Afghanistan in terms of net run rate, so they will easily qualify for the semi-finals after this match.

New Zealand women's team made Pakistan women's team a huge target. Suzie bates' 108 runs, besides bernadine 86, amelia kerr 83, devine 70 runs, the women's team collected 365 runs. Batting against a huge target, Pakistan Women's team started well but lost the first wicket pair on 110 runs. Ameen was run out with 105 runs for the lone Pakistan women's team and no other batsman could last long in front of the New Zealand bowlers. In the end, Pakistan Women's team was bowled out for 234 runs and New Zealand Women's team won by a huge margin of 131 runs.

Pakistan women bowled out for 234 and lost the match by 131 runs. Sidra Ameen managed to hit a century though. At least in women's cricket, it is very clear that the SENA teams holds an advantage. They have well established national leagues as well as franchise setup and the sub-continental teams struggle whenever they play against them.

BTW, at the Asian Cricket Council Under-19s Asia Cup Nepal is crumbling against India. After 9 overs, they are 17/4. Raj Limbani has taken 3 wickets for India so far. It will be a big surprise if Nepal manages to score more than 100.

Personally I was waiting for the next peak from 4-year cycle. Previously we had ATHs for Bitcoin in 2013, 2017 and 2021. ATHs happen approx.12 months after the block reward halving. And this is where I am getting confused. I was hoping for the next ATH by 2025, but currently the prices are rocketing upwards. And still we have 4.5 months to go for the next halving event. Ideally it should take around 1.5 years more to get the peak. And who knows? We may witness a major correction in the next 6 months or so, which will take BTC prices back to 30k levels.

The match of India A vs South Africa A was delayed because of rain and maybe the math couldn't continue because the heavy and thunderstorm rain was coming into the city of South Africa, and the city name is Potchefstroom and Potchefstroom weather is not good for cricket or any other outdoor sports at the moment.

By the way, India A is in a tour of South Africa and the original team of India, are present in South Africa but the match of the original was abandoned because of rain and I think this match has a game situation.

Correct me if I am wrong. As far as I know, only test matches are included in the India A tour of South Africa. The first match will be played at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom and the second one will be played at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. There are quite a few promising players being included in this series from both sides. For South Africa, the squad includes Matthew Breetzke, Duanne Olivier, Ryan Rickelton, Eathan Bosch and Yaseen Valli, while the India A squad comprises of players such as Sarfaraz Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel and Tushar Deshpande.

Anyone following the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023? All the quarterfinal matches are complete now, and there were no big surprises. Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Haryana have qualified for the semi-finals. Out of these 4 teams, Haryana is perhaps the weakest one and they will be playing against Tamil Nadu in the semi-finals. In the other semi-final, Rajasthan will take on Karnataka. Delhi and Mumbai has missed out. Mumbai lost out to Tamil Nadu in the quarter-finals, while Delhi could not qualify to the playoffs after finishing at 4th place in Group C.

Cricket was included in the Olympic Games just a few weeks back and already it is having an impact in international cricket. Oman Cricket Board has decided to form a cricket team solely comprised of citizens, so that they can compete in Asian Games and Olympics.

https://timesofoman.com/article/139411-oman-cricket-plans-to-send-all-omani-team-for-asian-games-and-olympics

So far Oman Cricket has identified a pool of 16 natives, to be captained by Sufyan Mehmood. They are planning to expand this to 20. This is a good sign, BTW. Ideally only citizens should be permitted to take part in national team matches. ICC has come up with this weird eligibility criteria, which makes it possible to have a national team to be comprised of 100% non-citizens.

What the amazing from Cristiano Ronaldo, although he age over 39 years old finally Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 50th goals in 2023 after one additional goal last match against Al-Sahabab on King Cup Championship  and Al Nassr won over 2-5. Its amazing achievement for Cristiano Ronaldo due he was over 38 years old but keep on the top level and success raised more than 50 goals in one season. Actually has opportunity for Cristiano Ronaldo make over his 50th goals in one year with three matches left before 2023 over, Al-Nassr have three matches left later and I sure Cristiano Ronaldo won't stop his goals achievement in one season on 50 goals but potential for him close until 60 goals in one season.

Three matches left before end this year and potential for Cristiano Ronaldo score more goals again

  • Al-Nassr vs Al-Ettifaq
  • Al-Ittihad vs Al-Nassr
  • Al-Taawoun vs Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo struggled a bit last year... but he has been terrific so far in this season. BTW, the three remaining matches are all against very tough teams. Ronaldo maybe able to score, but it is going to be tough. Al Ittihad is another team that is owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and has terrific defenders such as Luiz Felipe in their squad. Al Ettifaq and Al Taawoun are not owned by PIF, but they are very strong teams. Al Taawoun is currently at the 4th place in points table. They also have good players such as Mailson and Mohammed Al-Ghamdi.
960  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 12, 2023, 03:58:36 AM
India has got handful T20 matches to play before the T20 world cup, and that too, these matches are getting abandoned. Aside from that, young players have better chance to prove them for selectors against quality team like SA than Afghanistan with whom they are going to play next T20 games. (I know AFG also play well but not better than SA).

India doesn't need too many warm-up matches, as the IPL season will be played just before the 2024 T20 World Cup. The players still need to build some team bonding, and for this they need to participate in 1-2 series after the IPL. And once IPL is over, the selectors will be able to finalize the squad. T20 is the strongest format for India, and therefore India will try their best to win the world cup this time. The defeat during the final match of 2023 ODI World Cup will be still fresh in their minds when they travel to the United States and West Indies.
