Zimbabwe's declining fortunes are showcased once again. A few weeks ago, they failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup of 2024, after finishing at the 3rd position in Africa T20 qualifiers behind Namibia and Uganda. The loss to Ireland at home was not very surprising because of this reason. Zimbabwe is still overdependent on some players who are in their late 30s, such as Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams and Crag Ervine. I don't know what will happen to them, once these players retire from international cricket.

Zimbabwe cricket came up because of players like Sikander Raza and Sean Williams. Its very much obvious that once these players are retired Zimbabwe cricket will once again go bearish. They have only played one T20 world cup in last decade and that's also because of these mentioned players. Zimbabwe was a decent side in 90s when they have players like Flower brothers and Heath Streak but since then its a dry period for Zimbabwe.

 

Yes , you are right. Zimbabwe Cricket board should focus on their mistakes and they should improve. Zimbabwe team is not playing like an International Cricket team. Zimbabwe cricket team lose the match against Ireland and Ireland team should qualify for World Cup. Zimbabwe team gave taught time to big teams like Pakistan in ICC tournament and now they should focus on their batting. Otherwise, Zimbabwe can't do well in future. In comparison, Ireland team is playing good , Especially Herry Tector. He is an excellent player and he played a good for winning last match against Zimbabwe International cricket team. Yes the Sydney Sixers beat the Hobart Hurricanes miserably by 6 wickets.Hobart Hurricanes batted first and scored just 135 runs which is needless to say a very meager run in t-20 cricket.One thing I noticed in this match is that the Hobart Hurricanes team doesn't have any quality players except Matthew Wade who finally didn't play well today. Matthew Wade scored only 11 runs in today's match which I think is really inconsistent next to his name.

Hobart Horricanse performed well from the start but came under a lot of pressure towards the end. Caleb Jewell entered the field as the opening batsman and performed well for his side. Caleb Jewell scored 42 runs, the highest by any batsman for the Hobart Hurricanes. Hobart Horricans were under wicket pressure at the last minute and scored 135 runs for 8 wickets. Chasing Sydney Sixers their aim was to win so they performed well from start to finish protecting wickets. They managed to complete the target of 135 runs easily. Hobart Hurricanes couldn't cash in on Jewell's good knock of 42(24), every other batter that came to the crease was fail. Nonetheless, this match was dragged much for what target score was, but certainly better than losing the game, sensible innings from Daniel Hughes.

Had those two outs were actually out (decision changed to not-out after DRS), Sydney Sixers would have been in huge trouble and might even have lost the game.

Two in two victory for Sydney Sixers and now they are on the top of the points table. The first match was tough one where they won only by 8 runs but today match was one sided match. When I was looking at the score their total was 36 in 3 overs but gradually their wickets fell so fast that they couldn't score much. They had to finish the innings with only 135 runs. On the other hand, Sydney Sixers lost 2 wickets quickly but they managed to have a partnership. Gradually they progressed towards their goal and towards the end started to feel a bit of pressure but it had no effect. Sydney Sixers won the match brilliantly. However, if Daniel Hughes, the main contributor behind this win, if Hobart Hurricanes got his wicket, maybe Hobart Hurricanes could come back in the match. It surprises me that Zimbabwe's performance has suddenly deteriorated so much. Even a few years ago Zimbabwe's performance was quite good and they would have qualified to fight with the likes of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka but now their performance has gone down a lot. They failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup, defeating Uganda to qualify for the World Cup where Zimbabwe were the most likely. Ever since Zimbabwe failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup, it has become clear that this team is not what it used to be and it will take time for this team to recover. Maybe because of being out of international cricket for several days, their performance has deteriorated so much. They need to play regular international cricket again and be in practice only then they can return to their former form.

I am not surprised with their performance in last few matches because they are having too many issues into this now with politically and few other issues are giving them huge setbacks, and they are not able to have better results in long run even their players are not capable of having good franchise contracts like West Indies which give them some positive hope for improvement in near future but if they want to have better future then surely they need to work on all their structure and having something aggressively which increase their quality level and performance as well.

After 1999 world cup I never have anything positive from this team with mostly well known white-players leave this country and their cricket died now they are having few individual players, but these are not enough to bring their cricket to better level even now they are consistently losing their games against minor countries which is also huge problem and ICC is still giving them good amount of funds which is not helpful for the game.

In the end Ireland team won the series by winning 2 out of 3 matches. Harry Tector and George Dockrell batted brilliantly. Ireland have got good counties that keep them at better position. In the first T20 Sikandar Raza took Zimbabwe towards the win. In the next two matches he wasn't included and Ireland won it. Maybe his presence could've been little pressure for Ireland. In the last two T20 match Ireland won in a comfortable way chasing the targets. For Ireland somehow one or two players will make some solid scoring, losing of those wickets earlier could be troublesome for them. In the last T20 it was Tector and Dockrell who scored 54* and 49* at the the important time. Falling of those wickets could've changed the match scenario.

India doesn't need too many warm-up matches, as the IPL season will be played just before the 2024 T20 World Cup. The players still need to build some team bonding, and for this they need to participate in 1-2 series after the IPL. And once IPL is over, the selectors will be able to finalize the squad. T20 is the strongest format for India, and therefore India will try their best to win the world cup this time. The defeat during the final match of 2023 ODI World Cup will be still fresh in their minds when they travel to the United States and West Indies.
