maybe we could call it $SCHIZO and rename it every month or so to drive the price out into the Black...

...but then we might have to deal with Reavers.

Teach me more about GEC...im interested

Great Empire of Earth, an empire that (in part) spans (without limitation) an earth-centered celestial-sphere with a radius twofold that of its planet-moon system, has a state money, "GEC," that would, seemingly, effect a more material subjugation of international plutocracy by means of economic heterarchy.

(G.E. law extends both throughout and without the [dark] grey, earth-centered celestial-sphere below.)

Any cleanet links?

Any updates going on with this project?

It hardly seems they're ever going to raise the money  Sad

Wasn't there a lot of press coverage about it being a scam?
One of the participants said so too, over here.

Well it just seems like a scam
It doesn't definitely prove it

It was definitely a scam. We aren't even ready to live on the moon, let alone get a reality show started there Cheesy

Anyone who fell for this deserves the reality check...

You really think Mars One is a scam?

http://www.mars-one.com/about-mars-one/team

http://www.mars-one.com/about-mars-one/advisers

Over ambitious maybe, but I wouldn't say scam and personally I hope they succeed.

http://www.theguardian.com/science/2015/feb/23/mars-one-plan-colonise-red-planet-unrealistic-leading-supporter

Quote
"A recent analysis by a team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) identified crucial flaws with Mars One’s published plans and predicted that even if the astronauts got to the surface unscathed, the first person would suffocate within 68 days because of a lack of equipment to balance oxygen levels effectively."

We can't even colonize the MOON.  What makes you think we can colonize Mars, a planet considerably further away from Earth, for the sole purpose of a REALITY SHOW?  Shouldn't we, like, make sure living there in the first place is possible?

Of course we should. It is silly to assume that the Mars One team had managed to overcome every obstacle. Reviews like the one you link are GOOD as that is how science works, it means the project can improve. Is Mars One perfect? No. Does that mean they should give up? No. According to your logic shall we just stay on Earth forever and not try and colonize anywhere? Doing is achieved by trying. Of course its a huge undertaking, that is common sense. Does that mean it is a scam? I highly doubt it. Which was my original point.

Your reference does not prove it is a scam, just like the previous reference from a disgruntled contestant does not prove it is a scam either.

Dude, I'm sorry for giving you the wrong idea. I agree with your opinions - we need to get the hell of this rock ASAP. Earth is humanity's cradle - we need to grow the fuck up, get over the greed and beaurocratic bullshit we fight and kill over. Humanity needs a universal body that looks past religion, politics, etc. and take our big ol' baby step towards colonization of space (and eventually planets).

One big meteor, and humanity is history. One nuclear war, and everything's over. Space colonies - I prefer the O'Neil cylinder Cheesy - can serve as our 'backup plan'.

I could go on but I'm at work, sorry.

I just think the Mars one project is looking too far ahead, considering our current technological/governmental/monetarymetc. limitations.

Maybe team up with Planetary Resources (look em up if you don't know) and start building revenue / resources from there Wink

Talk to you later!

I know it's a small amount, but I'd like a new altcoin to hold. Suggest what coin I should buy, and convince me why  Grin

(serious answers only, please)

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest peercoin, it has active development going on and innovative projects such as peershares. Peershares is a peercoin technology which has been used to build nubits and the upcoming bricks and chains decentralised exchange. There is also plans for a counterparty implementation to peercoin allowing for peercoin 2.0 coins to run on top of the peercoin blockchain.

Apart from that peercoin is built for the long term the 1% annual POS interest will allow for very little inflation and as such peercoin works better as a store of value rather than a everyday transaction currency. In 20 years time i can say with little doubt that peercoin will be around in some form or another.

In terms of price peercoin was once 3rd in market cap behind bitcoin and litecoin, within a space of 5 days the price went from $0.42 to $8. This kind of pump has happened before and it is possible for it to happen again. In fact just a couple of weeks ago when litecoin was pumping peercoin jumped from #11 to #4 on coinmarketcap. The coin has potential.

Thank you for the detailed information! I've always been interested in peercoin, now you have my full attention.... I'll see you in the official thread Smiley appreciate your reply, cheers  Grin

960  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Q] Xapo Wallet on: August 22, 2015, 03:58:03 AM
So I recently created a Xapo wallet, but I was met with a verification requirement in order to begin using my wallet. Was this just a random security check that was put onto my account because some shady activity was detected? Or has everyone had to go through this process to us Xapo?

I highly doubt that everyone went through it because many people back away when asked for their ID, but a lot of people us Xapo.

I will lock this topic after the question is answered to avoid the same answer being repeated over and over again.

So...was the 'random security check' an identification card submission?  Or are you merely talking of phone verification?  I had no ID requests with Xapo (not that I use it any more), but I doubt your account was flagged for suspicious activity shortly after creation.
