941  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: March 16, 2018, 02:11:35 PM
all of the newbies back then now becomes hero or legendary already. I dont know when I will be come full member. I still dont get how the activity is calculated.

At least 1 post per period (look at the 2 previous posts to see when periods start) grants you 14 activity. You can claim these activities by making posts, 1 post = 1 activity.
Now for you, you have activity not yet claimed, you can calculate it easily (how much periods you post on it x 14 = max activity you can claim until the next period).
For example you find 70 activity. Required posts for full member is 120 so 120-70=50 then divide it by 14 and round it by adding 0,x to have something like this  50/14=~4. Conclusion : in this example, you need to wait 4 periods = ~2 months to become Full member considering only 1 parameter which is activity. But in reality you need also MERIT points : 10 to become a member and 100 to become a full member.
942  Other / Meta / Re: TEN posts that deserve Merits on: March 15, 2018, 07:18:50 PM
-smerit-
I hope I will receive some merits as a merit source .

You will not receive any merit point as a source. You will simply receive Smerit to give to others for their constructive posts...
Wrong way.

Edit : Negative trust also... Odds~0
943  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 15, 2018, 05:39:50 PM
this merit thing or whatever manager think about to control the quality of posts, it just didnt work so well Sad((, just unfair for lately guys like me(like lost of people too) wanna up rank to promote some ICO to get the bounty.
I saw some one who reach high rank before "merit" got out and been merited (so they have sMerit), they're selling merit point to make money, and it's a lot, cause merit is a rare thing :')

Same, please point directly to those one selling merit. You can post their names here (with proof) or send a private message to moderators. Thanks.

945  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 15, 2018, 03:07:17 PM
You can also look at it from a different perspective. I can see the merit system increasing shit posting.

So many new accounts will want to gain merit, they will be posting non-stop just to put "merit-bait" out there. The more posts you post, the more chance of getting merit.

If it works and the quality of the posts change, that's great, but it could have the opposite effect.

Please show us examples of people shit-posting or making hundreds of low-quality posts and taking smerit for it. Thanks.

Am I the only one thinking that this topic will not lead to anything?
Two groups (maybe 3-neutral), two different points of view, too much speculation imo, no clear evidences. I suggest locking it until solid proof show up...

Several days have passed and still the puzzle remain unsolved...

I would recommend to check the correct word, well i am not that good on it but i doubt it is correct...
949  Economy / Services / Re: ★ Coinroll ★ Signature Campaign ★ on: March 15, 2018, 01:14:02 PM
I am waiting on a WD myself. I spoke with Namworld via skype and slack this past week. I will no longer be checking quality for the project as of last friday. Seems the owner has been very inactive lately and Namworld has no clue as to what is going on.

I also spoke with the owner but he did not reply to me as far as is this campaign still continuing and when payments will be issued. Namworld wants to continue but until he has communication with the owner he really doesn't know what's going on.

I am not sure what to tell anyone at this point. I along with the rest of you am waiting on a response. I don't wanna say continue and wear the signature and hope for the best, and I don't wanna tell everyone remove the signature as it's not my campaign.

Make your own decisions at this point, I will try to get a response from the owner ASAP.

Seeing coinroll website, the chat contains old messages, live stats whether not updated or the site wasn't used for 3 months, tried to search for their ANN...almost no response and sometimes members asking each others. The only thing that let me think that this project is still alive is yahoo response here.
Good luck everyone, it is sad what happens to this old campaign Undecided
950  Other / Meta / Re: "Merit & new rank requirements" thread should be locked and pinned. on: March 14, 2018, 09:46:08 PM
I think we should have a special ignore option. Any post or thread title that contains the word "merit" can be put on ignore. Smiley
With that you can also miss the important updates or future announcements regarding the merit.

After all, we don't want Bitcoin Talk to become a meritocracy.
I think by the time, it will be reduced; so we should wait for some more time.

Jet Cash is kind of criticising how many merit topics popped lately with repetitive contents about merit. Is it good? Is it useful? We don't need it?... Useless topics imo that should be locked and trashed once created.
951  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 14, 2018, 05:39:26 PM
Hero Member 480 activity and 500 Merits - Here  maybe I have Hero  Member Rank

So it means i need to have/gain 500 merits to get ranked up?

That's what it means. Just like me, you were given a head start with 250 as a Sr. Member at the time, so we only need to earn another 250 to deserve the Hero rank.

WTH Then its really gonna very hard.

EDIT: Asking for MERITS is also not fair/ is against rule?

Isn't it obvious? The reward for that varies from negative trust to ban tho.
To get merits, improve your posts OUT of the bounties section...
952  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you do when you see bitcoin crashing like this and you're losing money? on: March 14, 2018, 05:36:42 PM
I just wonder how those HODL people that are now losing so much money day after day after day, manage their positions? Are you guys just sitting there, watching your accounts evaporate, hoping for better days? Are you cutting losses? When is it enough?

Fixing my sit, bringing my popcorn, watching the chart and HODLing.
What I see is big whales bouncing in the ocean, sometimes going deep other times trying to get some 02 so they chose the opposite direction. I am waiting until they make a huge jump then we will have another talk Wink
953  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: March 14, 2018, 04:03:57 PM
Hello bitcointalk users.

Is it allowed to have 2 or more account, use them from one PC and IP, and participate in different bounty campaign?

So you all care about is sucking money in this forum until the last drop, and you are still a newbie? So promising...
Many are doing it for the moment but they will be caught and given negative trust probably for their spammy behaviour.
Bitcointalk right now is : http://www.easyvegan.info/img/liu-qiang-cow-scupture.jpg
954  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Merit Phase 2 - Drain the Swamp (@theymos) on: March 14, 2018, 03:50:00 PM
Mate, you have good ideas and I like your participation in the forums but the "best" example of the "partial" inefficiency of your idea is Deeponion...
I will let you enjoy hurting your eyes with ridiculous smerit given to newbies to get 10 smerit at any cost.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1038794

I would say, I support your idea but further actions are required...
955  Other / Meta / Re: Personal Identity - Message to Theymos on: March 14, 2018, 02:36:46 PM

The people to blame will be those who sent their details to some random person over the internet.

Are you aware that we left the dark ages a while back and that the victim cannot be blamed for a crime?
No one forced you to join... Do not join, report it if you feel uncomfortable with the terms and pass!
Theymos cannot change the terms for you or for anybody else!

Btw, when i asked him if he thinked about the legal aspects of this, he replied ''I didn't forced anybody to join'' or something along this unintelligent line of thought

Well he's right. Campaigns can state whatever terms they want but it's up to the individual whether they want to accept them and participate. If you're not comfortable with the terms then don't join. It's not just companies that need to abide by KYC laws either. There are usually laws dictating certain rules around private trades etc especially if they're above a certain amount which will often require ID etc. It's only a matter of time before ICOs start to be regulated and need to start abiding by certain laws like KYC as well.

I just want to know your opinion on this matter, in case someone decides to join his campaigns and in case this ends up in an identity theft.

Don't give out this info unless you trust the user or organisation.

1. Forcing people to do something is not the only way you can commit crime.

2. Of course i wont participate in this type of campaing

3. KYC is for investors, he is the only one that requires KYC for guys doing retweets and stuff....this could be the norm in the future..i dont know

The purpouse for this thread is to make Theymos aware about this type of behaviour and if he agrees with it taking place on the platform.

Because, if this becomes the norm and personal identity starts flying all over the place...there will be personal identity theft at some point, and people will start looking for someone to blame.
You already gave your point of view (which i share) so no need to argue more about it.
I personally, would see a regulation done to ICO, a bitcointalk bank (kind of assurance) made by fees given by bounties before posting in bitcointalk.org... I am dreaming maybe.
Close this topic please. There is nothing can be done here.
956  Economy / Speculation / Re: more bad news: google to ban ALL crypto related ads on: March 14, 2018, 01:35:56 PM

It's not bad news, it's good news.

Most of those ads were for phishing sites, designed to steal people's log-ins for the exchanges. It gave noobs a bad impression that the crypto space was full of scams and crooks.

Same, i partially support Google in their move.
ICO scammy ads are popping everywhere and many people once seeing multiple ads tend to trust it and fall in this sometimes obvious scam.
Although, some well established companies shouldn't be affected by this ban, it should be more selective.
957  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Raise merit requirements at the lower and highest ranks (@theymos) on: March 13, 2018, 08:12:41 PM
When I joined the forums for the first time, i had 1 dream (<>objectives), i want to become a legendary.
At that time, I was admiring legendary, it is like a challenge to achieve. While ranking up, i didn't mind joining signature campaign, bitmixer mainly, if you can see my records there, I passed months with less than 25% of max posts per week, money...it is secondary, getting more experience, avoid making mistakes/ being scammed was part of the long path.
Finally, after i achieved the required activity for legendary i was waiting my turn, that was the longest waiting time by far, i forgot how long i wait to become member, full, sr then hero member.
Now as a legendary, even if i will lose all my activity and all my merit, I will stay a legendary with a big 0, but who cares. Put 10.000 merit points to become legendary or the king of the jungle rank, i don't care, i will stay legendary.
So nullius, after this long introduction, I would say we shouldn't prevent people from ranking up at all. It's true, the "demography" has changed, priorities has changed, grab cash is attracting tons of bees, lazy ones mostly... Those one had to acquire the basics of the forums rules and cryptocurrencies, they should learn that shit-posting will not help them progressing.
The change should start from the beginning. A jr member will try to find any utility to easily rank up by cheating, begging... 10 smerit isn't that hard to achieve but next, collecting 100 will become way harder especially that most of smerit circulating is hold by sources, same goes to sr members etc...
If we want to cut with the spam, we need to impose rules on bounties, they should recruit only member + (i suggest even sr+). The others have necessary to learn and contribute if they want to progress.
1 month and a half isn't that much to judge. But if a modification needs to be done, it should start from the introduction of the tail.
And this is by far, one of the longest post i made.
958  Other / Meta / Re: "Merit & new rank requirements" thread should be locked and pinned. on: March 13, 2018, 04:42:14 PM
Yep agreed.

Or a Requirements list for every new member to read and agree to before registering.

When websites do that to you, how many agreements do you actually read, as opposed to just scrolling down and clicking ok?  :/
LoL (99% accuracy Wink)

The thread is excessively over-flooded with useless posts. There are no proper discussions going on in that thread, nor there is any need of a discussion in there I guess. The first post of the thread carries the information that a user needs to know about the system, other than that, there is nothing useful in there. The thread has become a place for people to post utterly useless posts like "I need merits", "Merit is good", "Explain merit to me" etcetra.
Thus, I think, it would be better to just lock the thread and pin it there. So that anyone willing to know about the system can open it and read the OP and just leave without leaving his not-needed feedback in there too.
Noobs ask questions, others say that the merit system is unfair because they can't collect much money from ico as junior members or members forever, other noobs say #me_too, and you find some others trying to help them figure out things that could be found in OP but they are too lazy to figure it out... End of the story.
959  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: March 13, 2018, 04:30:06 PM
Im just curious, If the account is banned because of spam, can the ban account be retrieved? thank you for your answer.

No. Also creating another account is not allowed, the ban applies to the person, not just the account.

25. Ban evasion (using or creating accounts while one of your accounts is banned) is not allowed.[e]

Just to specify that there is also a temporary ban for few days that could be seen as a warning (7 days then another period or eventually permaban), of course once the period passed, you can post again.
In case of temporary ban, you can't post in any section apart from meta with another account to ask why you are banned (if you already don't know obviously...) or else it will be considered as ban evasion (already precised by TheQuin)
960  Other / Meta / Re: A personal thank you to the mods on: March 13, 2018, 03:06:20 PM
I would like to see people complaining about their useless, duplicated topics about merit being deleted "abusively" in the meta section.
I don't mind also seeing shitposts in the altcoins sections massively deleted by mistake, it could unfortunately happens Tongue
We should regulate this before it goes out of hands, hopefully merit is doing something good.
