This is mainly caused by BOTNETS, which mine monero (it seems that about 30-35% of the entire monero network hashate - botnets). These fa**s increase net difficulty on 25-35% just within few hours. They sell a large amount of xmr and holding price in the range of 0.017-0.018btc And Devs do not do anything  It is impossible for DEVs to do anything about that. Please enlighten us on how they could? Not to mention that is the best use case for botnets! Ensuring the chain of the worlds only truly Fungible currency is in effect a boon for mankind rather than having them DDOSing or other nefarious acts. Thats what I thought about botnets at first. Nice decentralisation.... But thinking further:if they ever get critical mass and all point to the same pool we may have a chance of a 51% attack? That threat is always there (if they are mining or not) no matter what from any botnet anywhere so don't sweat what you cannot control. I'm sure many governments can do this as well. I think dwarfpool is full of them myself. |

i am sure ethereum classic will be $140/ETC.
Is this situation possible? When i see how price struggling now, i'm not so opportunistic, maybe because Eth is still very strong and almost every newcomers is more interested for ETH instead for ETC. Bitcoin sindrom.. That is because all the scam ICO's are using ETH and they are just trying to jump on a quick P&D train. Here I seen many posts about the eth , dash , dgb , waves , stratis and other coins .
But still I did not much hear about ETC .
When the price of the ETH was 0.1btc then at the same time I put my order to buy 1ETC at rate 0.0045 and get ETC of value 0.05btc , now the price for the ETH is 0.007+btc , my % age profit is about 80+% in very few days .
Now here I would like to ask why people are is making discussion at ETC coin while it is increasing more that ETH , dash and btc .

As much as I like the idea of $ETC replacing $ETH, I don't think it will happen. The price of $ETC seams pretty inflated at the moment in my opinion based on fundamentals and real use etc. IT is possible when ETH becomes Piece Of Shit. of course it'll go up because people are dumb sheep and will decide it's undervalued until it's not.
can anyone point to any actual projects taking place on it? why aren't they cashing in on their moral high ground?
I'm not going to even try to look and I'd be willing to bet your correct. But with that being said don't forget that any ETH project can just be forked to ETC and that could give it value and happen when ETH hardforks peoples funds again.  |

Is it good time for monero to invest?
This was answer on reddit fro someone that asked same question. He was speculation is it better now or after 1st August BTC collapse. I honestly think XMR is extremely undervalued right now. I mean see the price of DASH and ZCash both of which are inferior to Monero in privacy and legitimacy of launch. Monero hasn't had a big pump like that others in last few months. There has been modest but steady growth. BUT there are finally big news coming up. (Just take a look at r/monero). 1.There are mobile wallets for Android/iOS and mac/PC which include - MyMonero (Completed and in testing now - few weeks to release) - Coinomi posted today they are also working on Monero right now. - Jaxx also announced they are working on adding Monero now. That's 3 mobile wallets soon to be released. 2. Hardware wallet support. XMR is going to added to Nano very soon. 3. Kovri. Alpha soon. This should make XMR EVEN more secure and private. https://getmonero.org/knowledge-base/moneropedia/kovri4. Multi sig - needed for escrow a big boon for using XMR in DNMs and other markets ready to be released on testnet. 5. Possible rumors of addition to Coinbase. Even if a few of these things don't happen before August I still think upside of XMR price is way more than the down side at least in the short term. Hence I really think this is a good entry point into XMR considering the lul its facing now with ETH/LTC etc pumping. Obviously I hold XMR and so my opinion might be biased. I agree 100% the Bolded is just so important and people just seem to ignore the fact that Zcrap can possibly print infinite coins and the massive premine for dash with the fork that shut down the block reward to make that premine so immense. It's just baffling to me that people can afford to throw money at these coins without knowing the coins history and faults! I'd be happy to find myself on the right side of a relentless bear market characterized by the general destruction of market confidence and total collapse in faith of cryptocurrency leading all the way until 2020 ish, not gonna lie.

I am of the opinion that when ETH goes Piece Of Shit then ETC will either rocket or slowly decline to oblivion, I can see no other outcomes. I am leaning more towards the rocket first and then which way it breaks is really a tough one. If the Projects move over to a immutable chain then ETC could have a bright future. But there are still alot of ETC held by the ETH whales and they will use that to keep their competitor down. Anyway that is my crystal ball for you. |

If Monero is slow to rise, but is not falling and continues to present updates, news, has a strong and great community, there is no mistake, Monero will go to the moon! Do not give up. It is claimed that Satoshi Nakamoto owns around 1 million bitcoins and he mined them when mining bitcoins was easy ("premine").
Well, if you want to call running masternode a ponzi, be my guest but in my opinion it is one way of mining coins. The coins need to be mined in one way or another in crypto.
You can buy many things with Dash as far as I know. I do not know how much it is used for buying goods/services, and that's up to the community what they within themselves want to buy/sell for Dash. Many want to speculate with the price increase and therefore are not too hesitant to use it but chose rather hold it for longer.
I normally don't quote or answer trolls but tell me o wise one how they were supposed to support the blockchain in it's infancy without mining it? Do you even know why difficulty rises? |

Cashed in all my LTC for XMR (or MRO as I think it started off) it started off 'expensive' in 2014 compared to the lows of 2015, so I just averaged down by buying the hell out of it at the 25c to 50c level.
Even paid my son a few hundred in one of his wage packets instead of a couple of day's pay when he said he wanted to buy some.
I had to call him up last week and ask him round for an intensive course in handling his own wallet and how to cash out via BTC and Stamp etc since it has become a fairly decent stash of cash for him. It was just parked on MyMonero, which I didn't want to be responsible for any more, or decide for him whether to cash in. Like a boss he said: 'No - I want to hodl it'
When I look back at the sub 50c Monero he got then, it makes me smile. He had forgotten about them, he was totally bowled over.

I watched for a year then started buying during BCX fud storm, last time I tried to help prop a price up. W00ps And if you have held them until today, you have been extremely well rewarded for your foresight and consistency. So so true but what would be the fun in that? I'd have nothing to bitch about! I think it took another year to get there again and I held for alot longer than that. I did a withdraw from Poloniex and its taking much longer than normal and it still says pending. It has been 30 minutes and there is nothing in my wallet yet.
Took me 2 days last week and I paid a high fee. Bitcoin is crashing and burning right before our eyes. They better address this issue before all these newcomers decide to actually start using it or moving it off an exchange! |

I am looking to convert by bitcoin into tether for not playing on the volatility in the market right now. Does anyone know if Tether would be a good option for that ?
Also does anyone know where is their official thread on bitcointalk to read up more about it ?
IMO using tether is a gamble that should only be used if your willing to lose the value of the tether, Tether itself states they are under no obligation to redeem it for any value whatsoever but people have been considering it safe enough to trade with so if enough people trust a backed token that is not guaranteed in any way to be honored then just the trust alone seems to be enough to make the token hold it's value. I would not like to see a run on it though nor will I hold my btc in a non backed token no matter how convenient as I feel the risk is higher than the market fluctuations. |
