The end of the ride will come when all those ICOs start running out of money and with no properly working release. I speculate all the dapps they will release will be very buggy and slow, that it will not be as useful as centralized apps we already have today. Ethereum will move down outside of the top 10 of http://coinmarketcap.com/ in 5 years, the same as NXT, Bitshares and Maidsafe. |

Hi,
I'm still just a newbie so don't take my word for it but i feel like this whole market is being manipulated by large whales and the panic sellers are making the market go more down. The ICO was the main pillar for this crash, more specifically ICO's like Bancor, Tezos and Eos which raised insane amount of money. If you look closely bitcoin just corrected a bit whereas ETH and other altcoins saw blood. The whales are making people panick about August 1st and further fueling the market crash.
I hope I'm not wrong but I feel like the biggest pump is coming. It may be before Aug 1st or after it but its not far from now. Its an amazing time to grab some new coins and bring your losses down. I feel like the market is being pushed down to create good entry points for whales. I'm still a student in college and I'm down to almost 40% but I believe the best thing to do right now is hold and accumulate more coins if possible. If not at loss, then you're already doing great and maybe throw a few suggestions. Coins that I hold:
Viacoin
Shift
Zen (short term)
BTC
Let me know what everyone else thinks. I might be wrong and any suggestions will be appreciated.
I have no idea what Shift and Zen are so I cannot comment but with BTC and Viacoin both have already risen very high. The holders of both cryptocoins have already start selling and in the case of VIA, have already started dumping. It might be better to buy a stable coin now with 90% of the market going down. I suggest for you to take a look at Aeon.  |

Who is this whale? He suddenly appears and buys a lot of Aeon spending 10 to 20 bitcoins at a time and then disappears. Aeon is one of the most stable cryptocoins in this time of market crashes and market busts. Maybe that is the reason why the whale keeps coming back. |

@Febo. I get it, smooth wants stability first before planning all the other more advanced features. But LMDB would make it much more easier for people to download the blockchain and run their own nodes. I hope he include that in the next upgrade.

Monero already has a $hundreds of millions of market cap so very unlikely to see 10x or even 100x returns with monero now. If i bought monero in 2014 then yeah. Maybe 2x returns with monero short term.
Looking for 100x or 1000x returns long term that is few years.
Then what you are looking for is Monero's close relative Aeon. The market cap is under 10 million US dollars now but it has the potential to follow how Monero has risen. It is presently maintained and developed by the Monero lead developer smooth and some of the other lead Monero developers can also contribute. An Aeon code rebase is coming soon and it should be as good and resolute as Monero after the rebase. |

What kind of a company is BTCS? I went to their site and it did not say of any type of service or product that they are offering to the public. If you click about us, all it has there is that they are the first pure play publicly traded bitcoin company. What does pure play mean? That they have nothing and will sell stakes in their valueless company in the pinksheet market? If you did not know the pinksheet market is the same as the ICO market. There are many pump and dumps. There is nothing exciting about Aeon right now but we are still in range for the longterm trend. The problem right now is the decreasing hash power, does anyone have any news or ideas why this is happening, and should we, the longterm holders, start to worry?  |

Beware of masternode schemes. They are open to sybil attacks quite especially if a cryptocoin is cheap and requires a very little amount to set them up.
I am not saying the majority of Dash masternodes are run using Evan's instamine which he got very cheap. But how do we really know?

Smooth's ambition for Aeon is set very high, but if he does make full nodes run on mobile devices it will be a big breakthrough.

Does anyone know what happened to the hash rate? It went from 4Mh/s down to 2.75Mh/s. Why the sudden drop?
The coin is abandoned by the dev, the price went down Please stop the FUD. I have not abandoned anything. I've continued to comment here, reddit, and IRC. I'm working on finishing up the rebase. The existing code base is fragile, unstable under certain conditions, not used by any other coins any more and needs to be dropped. (I suggested to the exchanges (the ones that I know about) that they disable their wallets until the update is ready because of the observed instability of the network. My recommendation will remain the same until the new release is ready because network instability could lead to major financial losses. These are experimental and complicated systems. Do not expect everything to work perfectly all the time.) Price will do what it does. Miners will decide whether or not to mine this coin. None of that has any impact on the work being done to improve the coin by deploying a better platform for future development. Yes, there are still plans for future development and the idea is to do something that actually adds value to the cryptocurrency ecosystem and not just another clone. However you feel about the pace or direction of development, FUD and incorrect statements are not helpful, and paying attention to FUDsters is a good way to get screwed in crypto (not specific to AEON). @Hueristic. I am waiting for the dump but so far all I see is a pump. I missed it.  By they way, how did Monero become accepted in Alphabay and what does it take for the other darknet sites to follow them? Is it their decision or does the community have to make it known to them that XMR is a good choice too? |
