Also, Bitcoiner.

True. He is a big bitcoin believer. I would think the geeky crowd would know about it already. It is obviously bigger than him using bitcoin, that is why this thread belongs to "politics & Society".

This was not a direct attack on a bitcoiner, yet, but I believe it will be in the future by those morons, doxxing his personal address for fairness of a $3 billion extortion scam.
9502  Other / Politics & Society / Re: YouTube and Facebook may soon be banned in Turkey on: April 08, 2014, 07:13:09 PM
wait so, did they ban facebook?

I'v read something about it earlier but still didn't catch up if it's all just "going to happen" or it happened in the meanwhile from posting this thread and this page we're currently on? Cheesy

I don't live in Turkey but the threat of using free speech over there is getting more and more perilous . That is the main raison d'ętre of this thread.

hmm...yeah, that does not really do it for me, in terms of racketing up the guilt...

here...try this one...I'ts got a mean guy, a big train and a little innocent girl..

If that's not good enough, let me know.  There are some that have teddy bears and puppies and babies.  Real tear jerkers.

Well Sir, I shall see your teddy bears and raise you a suicidal pack of monkey, polar bear and locomotive loving kangaroo....

Stalin's Gun Control Methods Worked Remember Your History Or Be Doomed To Repeat It !

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV1aYxCzepI

what is more dangerous?  a gun or a child porn video

Child porn harms the children in the porn, full stop.
Guns save innocent victims many times more than they are used in criminal aggression, where there is less "gun control" to punish only innocents for using them/keeping them/bearing them in self-defense. Reject all government statistics and non-debunked/retracted peer reviewed research showing this, and you incriminate yourself.

is there like a linear, quadratic chart of the harm done.  cause i assumes it gets smaller the closer you are to 16

I love guns even though I own none. I can say that on a forum and the whole world can read it and no one will care a bit. Moms and dads can read my post and will not care.

Now it's your turn. Can you say "I love child porn but I own none" on forum because you believe guns are worse? A " linear, quadratic chart of the harm done"? Do you mean data coming from actual child abusers in a lab somewhere sponsored by the FBI with consent children with their parents present?

I can imagine a billion other arguments against guns, but child porn being better than owning a gun? I tell you this:  I will make sure to read posts you'll make from now on. Very revealing of your psychological profile...

9506  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Today will be my last day using Mozilla Firefox or any Mozilla products... on: April 08, 2014, 05:07:50 PM

Last week, the online dating site OkCupid switched up its homepage for Mozilla Firefox users.Upon opening the site, a message appeared encouraging members to curb their use of Firefox because the company’s new CEO, Brendan Eich, allegedly opposes equality for gay couples—specifically, he donated $1000 to the campaign for the anti-gay Proposition 8 in 2008. “We’ve devoted the last ten years to bringing people—all people—together,” the message read. “If individuals like Mr. Eich had their way, then roughly 8% of the relationships we’ve worked so hard to bring about would be illegal.” The company’s action went viral, and within a few days, Eich had resigned as CEO of Mozilla only weeks after taking up the post. On Thursday, OkCupid released a statement saying “We are pleased that OkCupid’s boycott has brought tremendous awareness to the critical matter of equal rights for all individuals and partnerships.”

But there’s a hitch: OkCupid’s co-founder and CEO Sam Yagan once donated to an anti-gay candidate. (Yagan is also CEO of Match.com.) Specifically, Yagan donated $500 to Rep. Chris Cannon (R-Utah) in 2004, reports Uncrunched. During his time as congressman from 1997 to 2009, Cannon voted for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, against a ban on sexual-orientation based job discrimination, and for prohibition of gay adoptions.

He’s also voted for numerous anti-choice measures, earning a 0 percent rating from NARAL Pro Choice America. Among other measures, Cannon voted for laws prohibiting government from denying funds to medical facilities that withhold abortion information, stopping minors from crossing state lines to obtain an abortion, and banning family planning funding in US aid abroad. Cannon also earned a 7 percent rating from the ACLU for his poor civil rights voting record: He voted to amend FISA to allow warrant-less electronic surveillance, to allow NSA intelligence gathering without civil oversight, and to reauthorize the PATRIOT act.

I'm so glad <<NOT>> that our attention has been diverted from which browsers and methods of using the Internet are NSA and corporate spying resistent, and focused on namby pamby social issues.

NSA surveillance, as hypocrisy are topics I like to keep an eye on Or both at the same time.

Talking about hypocrisy, let's have a look at post #74 shall we?

But you see if you do this it would mean you give a fetus the right of a human being, contrary to those defending the belief of unlimited abortion until term, or even after birth (so called post-birth abortion)

post-birth abortion is murder, period.

And fetus should be treated the same as an adult human.

Here is somebody who did not think it was the case. 3 times:

Capitalism most people don't understand it and that manifested jealous turns into rage like this.

"“We demand that Google give three billion dollars to an anarchist organization of our choosing. This money will then be used to create autonomous, anti-capitalist, and anti-racist communities throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. In these communities, whether in San Francisco or in the woods, no one will ever have to pay rent and housing will be free.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is only the start. Some will conclude banners are not enough, protestations are not enough. Their next logical step, for some,  is to have a free poster on the FBI most wanted list. it is the same thing every 25 years or so.

The game is up for climate change believers
Charles Moore reviews The Age of Global Warming by Rupert Darwall (Quartet)

[...]
The origins of warmism lie in a cocktail of ideas which includes anti-industrial nature worship, post-colonial guilt, a post-Enlightenment belief in scientists as a new priesthood of the truth, a hatred of population growth, a revulsion against the widespread increase in wealth and a belief in world government. It involves a fondness for predicting that energy supplies won’t last much longer (as early as 1909, the US National Conservation Commission reported to Congress that America’s natural gas would be gone in 25 years and its oil by the middle of the century), protest movements which involve dressing up and disappearing into woods (the Kindred of the Kibbo Kift, the Mosleyite Blackshirts who believed in reafforestation) and a dislike of the human race (The Club of Rome’s work Mankind at the Turning-Point said: “The world has cancer and the cancer is man.”).

These beliefs began to take organised, international, political form in the 1970s. One of the greatest problems, however, was that the ecologists’ attacks on economic growth were unwelcome to the nations they most idolised – the poor ones. The eternal Green paradox is that the concept of the simple, natural life appeals only to countries with tons of money. By a brilliant stroke, the founding fathers developed the concept of “sustainable development”. This meant that poor countries would not have to restrain their own growth, but could force restraint upon the rich ones. This formula was propagated at the first global environmental conference in Stockholm in 1972.

[...]
The G7 Summit in Toronto in 1988 endorsed the theory of global warming. In the same year, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was set up. The capture of the world’s elites was under way. Its high point was the Kyoto Summit in 1998, which enabled the entire world to yell at the United States for not signing up, while also exempting developing nations, such as China and India, from its rigours.

The final push, brilliantly described here by Darwall, was the Copenhagen Summit of 2009. Before it, a desperate Gordon Brown warned of “50 days to avoid catastrophe”, but the “catastrophe” came all the same. The warmists’ idea was that the global fight against carbon emissions would work only if the whole world signed up to it. Despite being ordered to by President Obama, who had just collected his Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, the developing countries refused. The Left-wing dream that what used to be called the Third World would finally be emancipated from Western power had come true. The developing countries were perfectly happy for the West to have “the green crap”, but not to have it themselves. The Western goody-goodies were hoist by their own petard.

Whatever side of the barricade you are, don't be misguided and ditch or smear Firefox.

This is the last large open source browser, spyware free. Chrome phones home, IE is closed source. Some privacy or power-user plugins work better on Firefox. The Firefox code base is also used on TorBrowser. I could go on ...

If you don't like Firefox because it's slow, look at http://www.waterfoxproject.org/

Chromium is much better. Default web browser on Ubuntu, not firefox.

Don't be misguided and support an open source project because people who share the JavaScript's inventor view are all bigots and so are you, holocaust denier!!!!  Yeah right. I shall pass.

The project is open source as you said. I shall wait for its forking moment, the apolitical ones, the LibreFOX version of it if that ever happen one day. OKcupid was targeting firefox users when they came to their website. How come you did not think it was misguided for them, OKCupid to play that card with the last large open source browser, spyware free project?

Firefox crew supports Intel, who's employees voted for Prop 8 with their donation. Firefox crew supports Obama, who never said in his political carrier back in 2008 he was for gay marriage. Firefox crew supports Don't ask don't tell bill Clinton and his wife.

Can't touch it. Tainted. Firefoxed.

Don't worry. I am just but a lonely voice. People will still use firefox.
Wtf is this "holocaust denier" B.S. associated with my reply???

Check out post #61. That was the argument used by the people defending what Mozilla did.

EDIT for EDIT #69: Firefox Dragged itself in that Drama Queen situation, keeping its closet down for a lot of people openly gay and happy about using an open source browser... It is tainted. Not just for foreign and illegal people in California...

how about making a deal with farmers. A couple of RasPi or Arduino and some IR detectors. Have them placed near those gigantic industrial chicken coop. their head movement would cut the beam and the timing would generate the data.

Not safe. A clever attacker will hide a kinect in there and figure out your numbers. Nevertheless, it would certainly be the funniest RNG ever invented  Grin

Beside hacking the Raspberry themselves a camera of any sort would not work as the chicken's head are the seed providing the final calculation in the algorithm. Also it won't be in one location.

It is a fun concept would bring the farming world, RNG and bitcoin together  Smiley

The farmers would be paid in Bitcoin for installing and maintaining those easy going Raspberry Pi with a secured WiFi connection to your website. Locations around the world for a 24/7 data stream. No radiation.

9518  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I miss the Soviet Union. on: April 07, 2014, 08:54:56 PM
Here is a comparison of the USSR and the Russian Fed (RF)

USSR:

1. No immigration from parasite states to Moscow and other cities
2. Free healthcare, but long queues.
3. No corruption among cops, and other public servants. But lot of corruption among the top Communist officials.

RF:

1. Moscow and other cities are now coping with millions of non-white immigrants
2. Expensive healthcare
3. Cops, doctors, nurses.... everyone is corrupt.

So people DO miss the Soviet Union...

there will always be people who miss it, mostly ethnic Russians and Serbians but others who were in the USSR and Yugoslavia despise it

there are people who like it but are mostly mixed between nations in that country and they still consider themselvs USSRs citzens or Yugoslavs

good thing, they're a minority Smiley

I would include hipsters born long after the fact, never been part of the Eastern Bloc, living in Brooklyn.

Why not use the feed from all those public webcams? Pixel and hue variations should be random enough as data.
