961  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best way to measure power consumption for (6x) AMD RX 570 running ethOS? on: December 08, 2017, 06:12:06 PM
One way is to use a dual PSU setup where the primary PSU is for motherboard and risers and a secondary PSU for the GPU VGA power. You can then use a power meter to measure the power consumption on that PSU.
962  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining XMR 4 days, no results on: December 08, 2017, 04:57:01 PM
You are wasting your time solo mining XMR with 2 CPU's. With 1000 H/s it would take a year and a half on average to find a block solo mining.

https://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/monero-mining-calculator/?h=1000&p=120&pc=0.10&pf=0.00&d=44415460869.00000000&r=6.22242414&er=0.01753000&btcer=16325.40000000&hc=0.00

119 H/s with an i7 is also pretty bad. You should get at least 250 H/s with an i7. Make sure to enable memory large-pages.

Try swapping the riser and running it with the default core voltage if you are undervolting the card. The 1500 MHz timing straps are too aggressive for many cards. I use the Polaris Bios Editor v1.6.2 'one click timing patch'. It automatically detects each memory type and adjusts the 1750 MHz and up straps with the bundled performance straps. PBE v1.6.3 and up adjusts the straps from 1500 MHz and up, but the 1750 MHz straps are more stable.

964  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New to Mining: OS and Hardware on: December 08, 2017, 03:16:20 PM
Mining is not an exact science, nor is it rocket science. All the information you need to get started is available here and elsewhere. GPU Mining is also not plug-and-play. You have to try out various settings and configurations to find out what works best for you and your setup, if you want to get the most out of it. BBT on YouTube is an excellent resource from the perspective of someone with the experience and knowledge of someone that's been doing it in scale for longer than most.

You NEED a power meter if you are building mining rigs. Otherwise you can only guess what the true power draw at the wall is.
966  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will ETH ever follow Bitcoin's rise? on: December 08, 2017, 02:07:38 AM
CBOE BTC futures trading opening on Dec 10 6 PM EST is what is fueling the massive BTC run-up. ETH is set to have a derivatives market open next year. Both BTC and ETH currently have scalabilty issues. It remains to be seen if the Lightning network upgrade for BTC and the Raiden network upgrade for ETH can address that problem, so they can continue to scale.

Windows 7 only supports up to 4 AMD GPU's. Update to Windows 10 for free while you can. The assitive technologies loophole ends on Dec. 31.

The Crimson Relive 17.1x.x drivers on Windows 10 1709 (Fall Creators Update) enable 12+ AMD cards. BBT was able to get 21 cards runing using 13 AMD + 8 P106 mining cards on the Asus B250 mining expert motherboard.

AFAIK, mixing AMD + Nvidia on Linux is not possible without special configuration like using a KVM with PCI-E passthough.
969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Noob here !!! Please help me mining ETN with Nvidia GPU on: December 07, 2017, 11:34:50 PM
What you need is the ability to use a search engine. There are HUNDREDS of videos and tutorials ALREADY on the very same question you are asking.

Good deal. ~2 mo. ROI mining XMR. About twice that dual mining ETH and soon will be able to mine Lyra2RE @35 MH/s

971  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash hacked? on: December 07, 2017, 03:04:30 PM
Big multipools like NiceHash that ran up the diff on new coins, only to dump them for BTC were a big part of the reason mining was unprofitable and the end of 2014. Can't say I'll miss them, but it sucks to everyone that lost BTC. Been there with the MintPal inside job. At least they caught the fucker.

Lets hope that they catch who ever did this ... some sort of "justice" should be served (Public execution, etc)  Grin Grin Grin

Yep, I hope they have to sleep with one open until they get caught. Wink

Probably because mining Cryptonight is the only thing to know if you want to mine the most profitable.

The AMD blockchain drivers have issues in Windows 7. You can try the Robinhood blockchain driver

976  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How are you finding graphics cards? on: December 07, 2017, 12:50:00 AM
Auto-Notify on Newegg.com and nowinstock.net alerts are a good way.
977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Windows defender keeps blocking my mining software on: December 07, 2017, 12:26:04 AM
Maybe Windows updated the drivers. Remove all the GPU drivers in safe mode using DDU and make sure to enable the option in DDU to disable the Windows automatic driver install. If you want to mine Ethash coins like Ethereum on Windows 10 v1709 (Fall Creators Update) with AMD cards, you need to use the latest Crimson Relive 17.1x.x drivers and toggle to the 'compute' mode from 'gaming' for each card in AMD settings.

With RX 470/480 or RX 570 cards, you will then need to use the pixel patcher to bypass the driver signature check with a modded Bios to remove the Code 43 error in Device Manager before the cards will work. Just run the patcher, reboot and verify all the cards are shown in Device Manager with no errors.

https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-AMD-ATI-Pixel-Clock-Patcher

In the Windows 10 Pro Group Policy Editor you can keep Windows Update from updating the the drivers on it's own.

gpedit ==> Computer Configuration ==> Administrative Templates ==> Windows Components ==> Windows Update and set 'Do not include drivers with Windows Update' to enabled.
978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What size SSD do I need for Ethereum or Menero? on: December 06, 2017, 09:41:51 PM
For Windows 10, 64 GB would be the minimum size. I would get a 128 GB since it's not much more and gives you plenty of room. For a Linux based setup like smOS, a 16GB USB 3.0 flash drive would be enough.
979  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Windows defender keeps blocking my mining software on: December 06, 2017, 09:22:51 PM
Create a folder for all your miners. Set an exclusion for that folder in the Windows Defender settings.

ETH profit taking ahead of BTC futures launch Dec 10. ETH will be getting own derivatives market next year.
