961  Other / Beginners & Help / A piece of advise to everyone. on: December 21, 2023, 04:36:51 PM
I've observed a little mistakes that newbies like me usually make during conversations here in the forum. I have made this mistake here before, I suppose it was my first thread I created in this forum where I was arguing about some rubbish I thought I knew about.

Newbies/beginners and senior colleagues too do make this mistake of arguing with people in conversations that are not worth arguing about. Instead of responding to some quote where you were corrected you can just learn and remain silent than make some blind arguments that can lead to more wilder conversation that will either be out of point from the actual discussion.
Most times I see people creating enemies for themselves because they want to prove a point that they know some bull shit.

I will advise my fellow beginners to respect some correction and not make arguments just to prove yourself knowledged. instead of arguing you can just learn without quoting them back and blabbing rubbish. even till now some senior colleagues are still arguing with themselves because they feel they have the knowledge which someone is try to inculcate in them.

Don't make a fool of yourself trying to prove a point for some nonsense reputation that nobody gives a fuck about.

Just a friendly advise..

962  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ask anything here on: December 21, 2023, 02:42:21 PM
Since you decided to create thread for questions it's assumed that you have the all round knowledge of both Bitcoin and the forum at large right?
Guess what? I will not criticize your ideal or invention as you feel it to be, but here will be my questions for you.

Questions

  • What's your intention for creating this thread ?
  • What do you really about Bitcoin to response to all type of questions that will be thrown to you?
  • Or do you plan to push the questions to the audience to answer your questions or you will personally answer them yourself?
  • If you planned on making this thread to stop newbies from posting some irrelevant questions do you know that your thread can't be visible to newbies to ask their questions?
  • Have you thought of the work load you wish to have if you succeed with this proposal?
  • Did you enjoy my questions?  Huh Wink

Best regards

Lol Grin what you wrote there is quite funny because I understand but isn't understandable to most people here.

But I suggest you read through this thread Newbies - Read before posting
After reading and follow all links in that thread you will understand how the forum works and in quote " the goat wouldn't give birth while tied" since older members have given you the right direction you need.
964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin miners extorting people that are making transaction? on: December 21, 2023, 01:48:51 PM
Did what my friend said somehow right? Is high transaction fee extortion?
I would say your friend was very wrong, miners have no hands on the increase of transaction fees they are only enjoying the result of the high tx, because no miner decides what price a transaction worth but are only claiming the rewards for securing the network.

The ordinary meaning of extortion could defend miners in this case because it's deals with force or threat for it to be classified extortion hence your friend wasn't force to carry out the transaction by force, he/she choice to take the fee. If your friend wasn't in haste he could wait for the price to go down before making transactions.

It is very sad reading so many people, even Bitcoiners, starting to advise people to use Altcoins.
It's even more sad to me as a beginner because when we talk of Altcoins it sounds like it's a big mistake to get involved with any altcoins. but now this same people advise you use them when we have such issues with Bitcoin spending. doesn't that sound weird? BTW, desperate times comes with desperate measures.
965  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: RBF. What are the dangers of making it mandatory for all Transactions? on: December 21, 2023, 08:55:42 AM
If I order a product from you and RBF is enabled I can send the payment with a low transaction fee and after some time I received my product from you, I can just go back and replaces the transaction with my own address and send back to myself with a higher transaction fee if the transaction is still unconfirmed hence I have scam you.

True, this is a good example of the dangers of accepting RBF-enabled transactions, but as @hosseinimr93 stated, consider the deal unpaid as long as the transaction of the BTC payment is unconfirmed.  This will save us (sellers) a lot of headaches.

The example I gave there was to let the OP know about the risk in enabling RBF on transactions, now for sure one most not sell without confirming transaction first but sometimes this things happens here people deliver products before payment or payment after delivery. In this cases it risk of rbf can occur.

There is no danger in enabling the RBF and since full RBF can be availed, TX that hasn't been broadcasted as RBF can bump fees too but its kind of a pain in the ass, so switch to better wallets that have RBF.
The're risk in enabling RBF but it's minimal hence it should be made know to all that sometimes it can be risky if not confirmed yet.
966  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: ogbonge threads when fit reward your positive contributions: on: December 21, 2023, 08:41:06 AM
The second link which is Ratimov, now called Symmetrick. He is not giving merit to people anymore. Or am I not right about this? Maybe he may later reconsider.
I also checked out the thread I have also noticed that it has been locked too and the last time he merited someone was around last month November or October I can't really tell but he stopped meriting posts.

Op if you have notice the content of that post is not longer showing or has been removed only the merits showing in this case.

Most of the threads has expired or are not longer sending merits.

Op, you don try Sha for recognizing the people we dey help merit this board.
967  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance withdrawal fees are too high, what do I do? on: December 21, 2023, 08:12:12 AM
I have read all comments and everyone seems to be saying same thing which equally means that it's the best solution to the problem of high fees on binance exchange.

Op leaving your Bitcoin on CEXs can be risky but in the main time you could also have some patients and wait a for a little bit of time but if you can't you better follow the above suggestion by the previous comments.
968  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New crypto stealer: Rhadamanthys Stealer malware on: December 21, 2023, 07:47:34 AM
In recent times I have been seeing news on this crypto attack malwares and how there are improving the more we update our security measures the higher they increase in viruses to attack but phones to still information.

This is more reason why multisig wallets and cold wallets are mentioned by Charles Tim.

My major concern is the fact that it can be in operation without our notice even with some anti malware, so avoiding it now seems to be difficult because it all over the place already from every site you visit regularly like YouTube most time normal videos are link to YouTube.
969  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When do you think Bitcoin ETF will be approved? on: December 21, 2023, 07:25:35 AM
It's very certain that it can't be approved within this few days left in this month of December even till the first week of January is over.

Everybody says what's on their mind inorder to get attention so most of the posters are attention seekers. Sometimes we should get concerned about somethings rumours are too much.

Anyways I have nothing to do with the ETF approval because I'm not a whale so why would I get worried about when it will be approved.
970  Other / Meta / Re: Eli5 sub under beginners and help on: December 21, 2023, 06:58:34 AM
You have good idea but I think beginner and help board is okay the way it is with the forum rules. If anyone is interested in learn the language and words used in beginners and help board is quite clear enough for anyone to understand.

Maybe local board can explain better for non English countries to understand the forum better.
Even if there is Eli5 people will still complain that they don't understand even as explained to laymans's understanding.

If there is Eli5 sub board links without good information will increase and spam post will increase, shitty posts will be filled all over the place in the name of beginners not understanding the forum yet.

And this can lead to such board being ignored by many members of the forum.
971  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: December 21, 2023, 01:31:37 AM
Shitcoins are useless and don't even deserve investing in because they are more like gamble and beginners don't need to distract themselves, talk more of DCAing on shitcoins. You don't need to look for any coin with big market capital, just invest in only bitcoin and DCA regularly with the amount that would be at ease with you after you have taken care of your monthly expenses and have made available your emergency funds.
Given that some shitcoin has a large market capitalization, why would someone find himself DCAing on shitcoin because of that? Are they intending to benefit handsomely from shitcoin that is unable to withstand the bear market that drives the majority of them out of the crypto space? It is regrettable that some investors still think investing in shitcoin is a better option than bitcoin due to its high cost and lack of short-term profit potential.
Bitcoin itself is already enough stress why would someone want to multiple the stress by venturing into shitcoins that are mostly sponsored by some pump and dump group in order to reap off and crash the coin.

Is there any investor that still thinks any of the shitcoins is better than bitcoin? may be it's just a joke that shitcoin is better than bitcoin because I don't see anyone who really is into crypto that doesn't know what Bitcoin is, hence comparing with shitcoins. Even people who don't know much about cryptocurrencies in general still knows that Bitcoin is the real deal.

I'm still trying to find that Altcoin that is worth DCAing into because absolutely I see only Bitcoin both in price and performance as the coin that can be accumulated with DCA properly. how much does this shitcoins worth that anyone will be DCAing into them or how long does this shitcoins last?

Well, I wouldn't stop an adult from making his or her decision but in whatsoever you (the so called person) do, don't come back regretting or crying out how you lost your money. based on my little know one can buy this shitcoins when you have a certain amount of Bitcoin accumulated and at least it should be less that 1% or your investment in Bitcoin.
972  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are we expecting between now and Bitcoin halving? on: December 21, 2023, 12:14:30 AM
Your holdings is a very impressive one that I will love you to hold more till the market is really bullish, even though we smell some profit at the corner already it shouldn't be tempting enough to sell now because the halving is already near and selling now shouldn't be an option.

You have a 26% profit already and with an empathic understanding I feel the dilemma to sell and take some profit but in as much am not in your position I can't make a decision for you but if your feel selling is the best for you then you should sell but if you feel it's not the best then hold till the big bullish market. Reason for not making a particular suggestions for you is based on the fact you make decisions yourself so even if I give a particular suggestions you will still choose from you mind.

Afaik, we aren't in the position to tell what the market will do next year because nobody know the next move everything that you might even hear should be a probability not certain.
973  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do you take out your investment when in profit? on: December 20, 2023, 11:53:48 PM
Sometimes the advise we give ourselves is always the best because no matter what we all say here it's what you decide that ends the game. So if you know too well that you have gotten at least more than what you invested then you should think of taking off the profit just as one of us suggested that you take the profit and leave the capital to grow if it grows then it has brought you more favour or if it goes the opposite you have achieved to and extent.

Instead of letting greedy consume your investment take what you see first and wait for the later opportunity to come. One big thing about Altcoins is that it can pump so big in a short period of time and at the same time frame hit the rock bottom. It means Altcoins are not trust worth for long term investment.
974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin create an opportunity to reduce poverty? on: December 20, 2023, 11:13:36 PM
~Snip~
In as much as I have the slightest knowledge of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies at large I do not see any connections between teaching Bitcoin freely or at any cost and eradicating poverty from any country.
if you know the concept of Bitcoin you will understand that it has nothing to do will with eradicating poverty in a state (country) but for the status quo poor people who will find the advantages of Bitcoin can venture into it as an investment and in return move from their current social status. hence reduce the poverty in them but not eradicate poverty generally. besides Bitcoin knowledge has always been for free and nobody charges you for learning about Bitcoin because it's an internet based learn which you can get at any given time.
975  Economy / Economics / Re: Setting up financial structures before going into the family way on: December 20, 2023, 10:59:38 PM
Well you have made a very good point and zaguru12 also has pointed out some important areas that need attention too. This conversation seems to be more matured for those that are almost ready for marriage or those married already, it sounds quit weird to kids like us because we are not matured for marriage.

Afaik, love is not enough for marriage, before you get married discuss bills, parenting styles, credit, debt, how to deal with family, what believe will be installed in your children, childhood traumas, sexual expectations, partner expectations, financial expectations, family health history, bucket list, dream home, career and education, political view etc. because love is not enough.

If you can discuss the above points no matter the financial stability or situation marriage can be fixed properly.
976  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana just reached $80!!! on: December 20, 2023, 06:41:57 PM
Did you check Solana price in 2021? It was way above $80, it was some where around $200 if I am correct.
If anyone is to be question then it's you and not the OP because your question here shows that you didn't read through the post thoroughly before making your response. OP already mention the 2021 case of Solana here below
Quote
November 2021 Solana reached it's all time high $259,96.

According to Solana there are three reason for its pump, one of the reason are
Solana's been scoring some big partnerships recently – case in point, they hooked up with Shopify so merchants can accept crypto payments quickly and cheaply using SOL.
Bitmarxz is also not wrong because when there is halving around the corner all tokens and coins seems to appreciate in value.

977  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: STOP! Before you become a prey of a scammer! on: December 20, 2023, 03:24:04 PM
It's more like I have seen this kind of threads on how to be more careful on the internet (social media) as the bull run draws closer.
Well it's a good one to increase the awareness of people to secure themselves from internet scammers wondering about looking for people to scam off their crypto assets.

There are lot more measures to follow that needs to be included in the list but I acknowledge your effort on the few that has been mentioned above.
978  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your view on this? Is it fun or addiction? on: December 20, 2023, 03:04:09 PM
On a personal level I see it to be a joke because where am from sometimes we don't get advise directly, it comes the opposite way, e.g Churchill use a the money I kept in the bank and gamble... Don't stop gambling untill the money finishes. To a normal person it's reads the normal understanding but for us over here it's either a warning that do not touch the money in the bank for any reason or for gambling sake.

And exactly that is how I feel the message was presented in the group as a warning from the opposite view that you shouldn't get addicted to gambling.

But instead of getting further reaction that might lead to regret it shouldn't be published to a group where gamblers  converse.
979  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Whole Concept of Bitcoin is Failing! on: December 20, 2023, 02:45:54 PM
The concept of Bitcoin from my subjectivity is transacting directly with each other without intermediary and a currency without central controls so cheap transaction fees should have been another agenda but it is not included, but it's carried along the way, now if Bitcoin was to create freedom for both the status quo rich and status quo poor, with the high transaction fee it doesn't create a scenario for the status quo poor people to be free it's now a currency for only status quo rich people.

I haven't obviously seen any possibility to reduce the congested blockchain but only probabilities that are not up to 70% surety for working out.
I'm not sure of this thoughts in my head that it might also be that high transaction fees are initiations from the high profile personals or the so called government(s) inorder to maintain the social strata, because Bitcoin has powered social mobility which might force some of them to drop from their statuses.

My interest is how do we as a community influence the transaction fees to reduce? knowing too well that nothing has been done since the complains of high tx fees.
980  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How to utilize opportunities in bitcoin on: December 20, 2023, 11:02:49 AM
Firstly your title is misleading because it seems to be an educating thread from the title but a discussion thread when you read the content and this can lead to one writing out of point believing that title is related to the content.
[How to utilize opportunities in Bitcoin] sounds like a guide whereas it's not.

BTW, sometimes people can hold life changing information yet not make use of it based on circumstances. sometimes issues that are very important to our life prevent us from taking an opportunity, for this reason I don't blame anyone who misses the opportunity because one must be alive to see an opportunity but for cases where people reluctantly refuse to partake in anything for some selfish reasons its to their disadvantage because as you said opportunities come but ones.

But critically thinking opportunities does not come once but a {particular} opportunity may not come twice. If we try to analyze the argument above you will agree to this rational thinking, let's buttress using Bitcoin as an example you can miss buying Bitcoin today yet still have an opportunity to buy it again let on. But the difference is it may not be the same price again.
Using life generally as example if opportunity come but once most people would have not made it in life because they missed the first opportunity but the fact is you can miss and opportunity for a particular tine but still have another opportunity to succeed.

So opportunities does not come but once rather a particular opportunity come but once.
