961  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: October 08, 2023, 02:29:12 PM
The first half has ended and what a surprise Lyon managed to take the lead with a convincing score of 3-1. This is a home match for Lyon and finally they have a chance to win through this match. Lorient couldn't do much and they were only able to score 1 goal so far and Lyon managed to take the lead with braces scored by Lacazette and Nuamah. Fabio Grosso seems to be starting to really understand what the team needs and he is able to provide a breath of fresh air for Lyon who are currently slumped at the bottom of the table. Lyon must maintain this advantage because I think the 2 goal difference is enough and they just need to strengthen their defense so they don't concede easily in the second half.
It is not over until the game ends, Lorient has gotten a second goal through Eli Junior Kroupi. The French International's brace has rekindled the hope for his club to at least get a draw in this game. In terms of ball possession, Lorient has the upper hand but Lyon has created more chances than the visitors. This game has created fewer chances but both teams have maximized the little opportunities they had. Lyon needs to win this game to leave the bottom of Ligue 1, while Lorient will remain in 16th position if they lose or draw. But a win will take the visitors to 13th position.  Winning this game will be a big boost to Lyon, while Lorient needs this win to move out of the relegation zone.
962  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin (DOGE) Pumps 10% As Elon Musk Links Memecoin To X on: October 08, 2023, 01:36:40 PM
A Dogecoin video artist just helped create an animation for Twitter’s “X” logo that was picked up by Elon Musk.
Dogecoin (DOGE) shot up another 10% on Tuesday on greater excitement surrounding Elon Musk’s rebranding of Twitter to “X”.
Tuesday’s rise follows a related post on Musk’s Twitter, where the tech mogul appeared to link X to the famous dog meme. Source
The rise in the price of Dogecoin will only attract those who are willing to take the risk of losing their investment. No doubt there is also the possibility of profiting from it but such chances are very slim. I don't also think that Mr. Space X has the influence to pump the market like he did before. Elon Musk cannot be trusted because he considers himself first and doesn't care about other investors. So he might not be able to attract much attention to DOGE. I would rather buy more sats than risk it on a coin that has no future.

I tend to be skeptical that the Dogecoin 10% price up is mainly caused by Elon tweet, instead I think it's actually because the crypto market in general is in green. I don't think posting video made by Doge designer will attract the investors, the case would be different if Elon integrate Doge payment to the platform, maybe accepting Doge to pay for blue subscription.
Only newbies will decide to invest in DOGE because Elon Musk accepts it for blue subscription. He is very inconsistent and selfish. He would suddenly suspend such payment without notifying investors after he had made a profit from the hype of the coin.
963  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 08, 2023, 01:09:13 PM
Onana's adoption is gradually taking too long than expected of him, he has participated in about seven premier league games, two champions league and two carabao games in Manchester united,I think that's enough experience already for him to have gotten some good level of acquaintance with the clubs pattern of play and generally what happens in England.
Mathias Jensen’s weak shot would been a soft catch for an average goalkeeper but Andre Onana made another terrible mistake. He needs time to build his confidence but it is costing Manchester United so many points. The goalkeeper was just fortunate that his team-mate Scott McTominay rescued the team and at least reduced the pressure on the Cameroonian. Onana needs to be confident because he has the quality to be one of the best goalkeepers in the EPL.

Tottenham Hotspur might not necessarily look like a team that'll be at the top of the team for a very long time to you but that doesn't mean that they ain't serious contenders for the English Premier League title. Tottenham is one of the only two English Premier League teams that are yet to lose a league match since the start of the season.
Despite the fact that Harry Kane who was club's best player over the past six years left the club in the summer, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has really improved the club's performance as they've been immense with their results since the start of the season. There's every possibility that they'll be at the top of the league for a long time
I accept your position that we shouldn't underrate Tottenham Hotspur because they have shown that they can take advantage of any opportunity or drop of points from Manchester City.  If City fails to win today's game against Arsenal, Tottenham might keep winning and maintaining the lead. We know it might be impossible considering the class of City, Liverpool, and Arsenal but in football nothing is impossible.
964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How To Accumulate Bitcoin More Effectively In Any Market Zone on: October 08, 2023, 06:11:54 AM
Simply stack Bitcoin if you have the means to do so.

I mean, paying yourself first, which includes setting aside a fixed amount of money to buy Bitcoin, works like a charm for me regardless of the market conditions. In my case, every time I win an art contest, receive my signature campaign payout, receive my monthly salary, or get paid for some freelance commissioned artworks, I make sure that every penny that fills my wallet automatically increases my Bitcoin stash.

No chart or any sort of noise. Just following a strict budgeting religiously.
The OP did good research and presentation on the various plans to accumulate Bitcoin as well as how to handle situations that might make one lose focus. But I like to keep it simple to avoid complications. For me, bitcoin accumulation is automatically embedded in my income. What that means is that when my income increases, it will affect my bitcoin holding but a reduction of my income will make me buy less. This is just my simple method because I don't have much idea about market analysis or the use of bots.  Looking at the market condition can also lead to FUD, this is why I don't pay much attention to it and just focus on my accumulation plans. My profit margin is not too high to avoid missing out. I will sell some part of my coins when it gets to my target and keep others for the next phase of my plans.

I have decided to continue my involvement with investment in Bitcoin. My conviction in the importance and positive tendencies of bitcoin cannot be complete if I continue to just discuss and learn about its existence. I believe that a practical approach to learning is the best approach, hence my decision to invest in bitcoin with the  little funds I have at the moment. I also believe that little drops of water makes the mighty ocean and I'll continue my investments when  funds present itself. I wish to take my journey to another level of involvement, hence my decision. I hope and know that in the nearest future, I will be proud of the decision I am taking now. I intend Hodling my coins for a long time to avoid a repeat of my  former tragedy.

Here are proofs to backup my claims.

You have just taken the first step towards your Bitcoin journey. This is a great move and I commend you for that. You can continue acquiring more coins using DCA and keeping them safe in a safe wallet. You will be surprised that in a few years, you will have acquired a reasonable sum. You can consider using an Electrum wallet since your fund is not large enough to warrant the purchase of a hardware wallet. But you can consider buying a trusted open-sourced hardware wallet like Passport or Bitbox in the future. You should also learn how to keep your wallet safe to avoid losing your money to hackers. I know you are excited to buy bitcoin but you don't need to announce what you have done. We should learn to keep our lives off the public, that is why we are bitcoiners.

Another week for Tottenham Hotspur to play out another game against Luton who are some how still getting use to the EPL and is going to be another free win for the visitors (Tottenham) that's to their fans and some online stakers but I don't see Tottenham Hotspur winning this game.
Luton might be poor in their performance but I think they're going to take this game like is their last game in the EPL and they don't mind spoiling that unbeaten strict for Spurs today but I can just tip today's encounter between the newly promoted side against Spurs as a draw.
Tottenham will be missing Manor Solomon, Brennan Johnson and Ivan Perisic due to injuries. But the recovery of Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso will give the club the needed boost. Ange Postecoglou has named an unchanged team that won the game against Liverpool. A win today will make the Spurs temporally go to the top of the EPL pending the outcome of Manchester City and . Arsenal tomorrow. Luton have just managed to win and draw just one game making them to be at the 17th position with four points.

Coach Rob Edwards made three changes to the team that played against Burnley. Tottenham is coming to this game with a lot of confidence after beating Liverpool, so Luton should be set to play one of the best attacking and defensively active teams. Luton will have to start coming up with winning to enable them to escape relegation.

The second doping test for testosterone also showed a positive result, and therefore Pogba remains disqualified from 2 to 4 years. First, he missed the whole season due to injuries, and now this doping scandal.

There are rumors that if he admits his guilt, the disqualification may be reduced by 50% of the prosecutor's sentence, that is, if he is disqualified for 2 years, then he may miss one year. Juventus also has the right to terminate his contract or suspend payments, I even read about 39k per year. Pogba has a contract with Juventus until 2026, but now nothing is clear for him.
Based on information gathered from the World Anti-Doping Code, Paul Pogba might face a four-year ban. But he could get lesser suspensions if he proves that he is not at fault or he didn't use it to upgrade or improve his performance. The French midfielder has to show that he took the drugs for other purposes besides helping on the pitch.  The footballer is facing the darkest days of his football career.  His annual salary which is worth 8 million euros ($8.4 million) has been suspended by Juventus and the Italian side will consider terminating his contract if he is found guilty. He has seven days to present his defense to the National Anti-Doping Tribunal and get set for the legal battle.

Money is still the real reasons why we gamble, been addicted or not, mutual greed or not, all gambling is done to make more money or get some form of reward in the end.
The main reason why many people gamble is to make money no doubt about it. But we still need to emphasize that there are people that care less about their lose or win. They might be very few but they still exist. We can also grade people who gamble for benefits into several levels. One category is people who don't depend on the gains from gambling to survive or meet their basic needs. Another level is those that bet because they are catching funds and also expecting profit. This set doesn't see gambling as a reliable source of income but they are expecting to have some benefit. For me, I don't gamble because of only entertainment and I don't also see it as a source of stable income. But my wins are well celebrated and the money is used to solve a need based on the amount won.
969  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: French member of cyber group pleads guilty to $6 million in data theft damages on: October 07, 2023, 09:18:41 AM
Yes, that is part of the judicial process unfortunately, when someone is squeaking something just to get a lenient sentence, this criminals will do it to save their faces and avoid long jail term sentence.
Plea bargains have been a sound legal means to get more evidence that will facilitate the investigation. But in some cases, these criminals just to get that lenient sentence will go the extra mile of implicating innocent people. It could also be used by some politicians and law enforcement agencies to target opposition or enemies. There have been cases where further evidence or investigation proved that some persons implicated by these criminals were innocent. So there is always a need to back these confessions with concrete evidence.

are he going to serve in US jail?
I think so. He got caught in another country and then got extradited to the US, likely because most of these crimes are targeted towards US companies. I don't think other countries would try too hard to jail him locally, especially if they don't get some benefits at all.
It is common to see criminals from other countries being extradited to the US if the crime was committed in the US. But I hardly see cases where American citizens are extradited to other countries to face the law. Maybe US citizens hardly commit crimes outside their territory.

Is it the game you started playing as a gambler that you still play till now? Is there any gambler in this place who was used to playing a particular game before but never was successful winning or did not win enough and then made up their mind that it was time for a change in the game you gamble on. Which game did you change from, and what did you change to? how long did you play the game that you are deciding to stop playing because of the bad outcomes?
Sports gamblers always play a particular game for a long period.  It is not easy to learn and understand a new game so most sports gamblers play similar games for a long time. As a football gambler, I can easily change the league I stake on but not the game. Casino games are always evolving and there are always new games to explore. So casino users can easily change the game they play. I am considering learning about other sports so check if I can diversify my bets. But for now, I have not changed my game.

The value of your coin can increase when you buy at a low prize and keep it for a particular period of time to sell at a higher prize. Please be patient with the process and have a firm believe. It is called Holding.
Bitcoin is dependable more than altcoins.  So it is not a bit of good advice to hold any coin that is not bitcoin for a long time. Most traders take advantage of the short pump of altcoins to make profit. The best coin to hodl is Bitcoin.

Diversification of your portfolio can also be of great advantage to increase your coin but please beware of Alt Coins.
Since only bitcoin is reliable,  it will be ideal to diversify your investment in other sectors like stocks, precious stones, real estate and agriculture.

Will the Gambling Sportybet (Company) Refund the Money?
The answer to this question will depend on the terms of service of the betting company and the laws guiding gambling in the country. If the terms of service forbid a gambler from getting back their money after losses, then the young man has no hope of getting back his money except on humanitarian grounds. The company might decide to help him and also use him for public awareness. But the consequences will be that more people will do the same thing and expect refunds.

But if the law of the land mandates the casino company to ensure that underage gamblers are denied access through KYC, then the casino might be held accountable. Since they failed to restrict underage gambling, the young man might receive back part or all of the money he lost. This will be a legal matter that will be determined by the court.
974  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Coup in Africa: What is the economic effect? on: October 05, 2023, 09:03:05 AM
If a country's government was corrupt, cared only about its own profit and spit on the people of the country - I agree, such a government should be stripped of power.
Another question is what does the new government offer to the people?

I will accept that the focus of any government (military or civilian), should be to uplift the living conditions of the people.  But we have seen in Africa is the opposite because most military coups brought more suffering to the people. It brought corruption and extra judicial killings.

Quote

No offense, but I have not yet seen a single coup in African countries, where as a result of such a change of power the situation would have changed really for the better, for the country, for the population, and not for the "new government".
Perhaps I have not studied history in depth, I would be grateful if you could provide other information.
But your stance that no coup in Africa has led to the development of the country is not factual.

You need to read about the coup carried out by Thomas Sankara that turned Burkina Faso into a Pan-African state
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Sankara

Check the coup of Jerry Rawlings that improved the Ghanaian economy. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Rawlings

Libyans are still regretting the killing of Muammar Gaddafi by a Western-backed insurrection. Libya was better than some European nations when Gaddafi was in power and he will be forever remembered as a great military leader.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muammar_Gaddafi

Murtala Muhammed is celebrated as one of the best Nigerian leaders but he was a military head of state. He changed almost all the sectors of Nigeria positively in a few months.

975  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I choose Bitcoin on: October 05, 2023, 08:31:06 AM
In my country, banks are only allowed to provide a maximum fixed interest of 3% and above this amount customers must be careful because the potential for the bank to fail to pay is greater. So the 13% fixed interest offered by the bank seems quite risky because the interest is quite large for the banking platform to offer and it is possible that they will fail to pay their customers.
So compared to depositing money in a bank with a fixed interest of that amount, it is better for your friend to put some of his money in Bitcoin and wait until the halving because it is possible that the price of Bitcoin will increase next year.
The Central Bank of any country regulate interest rates so no bank will offer 13% if the apex bank has approved less than that. Commercial banks are strictly regulated in my country because customers deposits are insured. Bitcoin is a long-term investment because the price is highly unpredictable. Sometimes you will have to readjust your Bitcoin investment plans because the price didn't go up as planned. Nobody can predict what the Bitcoin halving will look like,  it might be prosperous or otherwise. I will not introduce somebody to bitcoin because of the predictions of next year's halving.  It is better to convince people to invest for a long time in Bitcoin. But nothing is impossible, one can be lucky to make quick money from the next year halving.
976  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: October 04, 2023, 06:13:40 PM
That's up for debate I guess because I think Mbappe would fit very well into a top Premier League team as well. That would be the highest competition he can look for in Europe. But I agree that Real Madrid would also be a great destination for him, but it wouldn't be as competitive in the domestic league. Though it would make an amazing attack line for Real Madrid if you combine Mbappe with Vinicius Junior. But when Liverpool one day builds a new team as well, it would be an exciting idea as well, wouldn't it? He could be mainly responsible for a new era in a club.
I think Mbappe will excel in any top European except the German and Italian leagues. These two leagues play very physical football which might affect his soft nature. The English league will be preferably for the French international because the latter is less rugged and plays fast football. And Mbappe has the speed to fit into any top team in the EPL. But from his disposition, he might move to Real Madrid next season.  It has been rumored that he has already had an unofficial agreement with the Spanish side. We need to see Mbappe in another league to ascertain his ability to adopt to a new football environment.

Great thinking @OP. I just wish you had such money so that you can contribute to society positively.  It is good to see people like you who have compassion for the poor and have the intention to help them. But instead of giving them money or accommodation, you can identify businesses or investments that can make them self-sufficient. You can start up a program to teach them some skills that will make them get a job and become self-sufficient. When you give them just money, they might end up mismanaging it but a skills or business setup will assist them in gaining lifelong skills.

Your suggestions are positive but everyone has the right to use his money the way he wants. And most people prefer to make more money than to be a socialist. It is also encouraging to see philanthropists like Bill Gates committing Millions of dollars to help the poor, so you are not alone.
978  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 04, 2023, 04:37:00 PM
Bellingham has already scored 8 goals in 9 games, if he keeps it up, Real will hardly miss another striker.
Just as Haaland improved the chances of Manchester City to win the Champions League last season, Bellingham in Real Madrid and with how well he plays has improved Real Madrid's chances to win the Champions League again this time, and even the La Liga. Bellingham is the best transfer they have made so far this season. Real Madrid will easily qualify from the group stage, they have six points currently from their group and can also win their next game to have a perfect start to the competition.
Bellingham is the best news that happened to Real Madrid this season. The young player has always delivered the team in important games. The English player is gradually becoming a dominant force not just in Real Madrid but in Europe. This is the beauty of sports when you think that a player is irreplaceable another better player will suddenly be discovered. Nobody expected Bellingham to enjoy this kind of success within a short period.  It just seems that the player is destined for Real Madrid. Braga and Union Berlin are unlikely to qualify because Napoli is the favourite with Real Madrid. But I doubt if Real Madrid would win the game against Napoli in Santiago Bernabéu because they were just fortunate to win yesterday's game.

Yesterday my partner came up with an idea to deposit a good some of money in a fixed deposit account on an online banking platform offering a 13% interest rate, they offered to pay the interest upfront but the initial deposit would be locked in till the exact stipulated time.
13% interest upfront and initial deposit locked up for a stimulated time.  I smell something fishy. This is one of the strategies of many Ponzi schemes and scam projects in my country. The pattern is to use deposits to pay the interest and after they have gathered enough amount from clients they will pull an exit scam.

Quote
Secondly these platforms in my opinion cannot be trusted as different reasons can lead to their folding up and shutting down. I understand that life's a risk but some risks are not worth taking.
I am sure that many online banks are not insured by the national deposit insurance so customers might lose their funds in cases of bankruptcy. Some of them are not even registered or regulated by relevant authorities. You have to do intensive research before banking with these online platforms.

Quote
On the other hand I offered a solution. I asked him to invest in Bitcoin, now even though the price of bitcoin is volatile, in my opinion it is still more profitable to invest in Bitcoin especially for long term investment than in any fixed deposit scheme.
If you were in the position to give financial advice to someone looking folong-termterm financial investment, adv itiseeuld y itou advice?...
You still have more work to do. You have to teach your partner about wallets and security. Learning how to keep his coin safe is very important to avoid regrets.

Yep, I also don't think Osimhen is interested to join Chelsea
Which top player will be interested in joining Chelsea right now, they have started the season terribly and it is almost certain that they are not going to win any trophies, they are also not playing UCL football this season, and there's no guarantee that they are going to qualify for the tournament next season. Chelsea are somewhat of an unattractive project for any world class player right now. Despite the fact that Osimhen has some issues with the club, i think he is still happy playing there and he doesn't have any intentions of leaving, thus maybe we should stop discussing his future.
You don't need to write off Chelsea suddenly, the league is still young and they can qualify for any tournament if they continue with the impressive performance against Fulham. Nobody is sure if even Manchester City and the current top four clubs will qualify for any European competition. Chelsea needs a player like Victor Osimhen because he has the quality to maximize most of the goal-scoring chances the club creates. Don't also forget that the pay and his love for the club will also affect his decision. The Napoli teams look united at the surface but the harm has been done. Victor will not be comfortable in Naples and I think he will be more satisfied moving to another club. He has stopped taking penalties and there is still some communication gap between him and the coach and some players.
