Great poem... This fosters me to ask what country has the most peaceful politics and elections so far, and how did they practice the politics that it was so peaceful and free from ills?

Oftentimes, when we talk about politics, it's all about the ills and broken bottles that comes with it. I rarely see the best part of it where it's positively described.

Especially in Africa where I come from, it is more scary to describe politics without talking about chaos and so many confrontations from both the people and the government or with the government instruments and I continue to wonder if this is what politics will offer to us.

Yet we are still surviving some of the most difficult economy downturns, insecurities, crimes, injustice amongst many other ills. I still wonder if that's all politics can offer to us?

What about we stop this politics and just go ahead to create polls and bring contestants to compete with one another through technical quizzes while the highest winner leads us? Why can't it be strictly intellectual engagements and proffering of solutions to peculiar questions thrown to them while you allow the constituents or citizens to make their choices through us engagements. It could be phase by phase.
962  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin no be for everybody inside Nigeria on: September 15, 2023, 11:26:58 PM
Bitcoin is not for everyone in Nigeria, thats true, but the major reason for its creation was to capture more than half of the world's population, so many factor has made it impossible for many Nigerians to adopt Bitcoin, people see lack of fund as the major discouraging factor, but I will say that lack of orientation and misinformation is a major setback on bitcoin adoption in Nigeria, in Nigeria many people see bitcoin as a scam because, they lack proper information and fail to investigate legitimately, some people need this information but because of unavailability of internet service, absence of smartphone and lack of bitcoiners face to face orientation to the novice, has made it impossible for the interested Nigerian populace to get the right information about this digital asset, so to me, Nigeria has different challenging factors, unlike the west.

Let me add to what you said. The past governments have also contributed to the factor. Because of the lack of knowledge and interest to understand how the technology operates, due to government's disinterest to adopt alternatives, even the government has unfortunately gone against it's adoption. Since the government system has been infected already, they find it difficult to adopt new ideas. Hence their decision to ban cryptocurrencies in the country.

But the truth be say, the enlightenment level of Nigerians on the Bitcoin is very high and it keeps increasing day by day amongst the young demographics in Nigeria.

On whether Bitcoin is for everyone or not. Bitcoin is for everyone. It's a decentralized market that is controlled by everybody and nobody. It is a market that's open to anyone who's interested to join. Just make a decision this minute, and the next minute, you're a Bitcoiner. But you must learn the ropes and understand how it works as you continue to up your game, gradually.
963  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: imminent safety risk over petrol to gas switch on: September 15, 2023, 10:57:15 PM
OP, abeg take look at the photo wey you post, no be suicide mission be that? God forbid. But the truth of the matter be say, Nigerians go hardly fit management the safety precautions of switching to this gas thing.

From the photo you shared. The distance between thst gas cylinder with the gen no fit pass one foot. Please in the event wey that Generator con begin dey spark and getting very hot, e no fit cause explosion? But how many of our people no care, dem plenty.

Secondly, how many of our generator houses they get the proper ventilation? Na so person go close gen and gas cylinder inside one confined place. As ventilation no get enter well, the space go begin more heat generation wey fit con lead to fire combustion.

Lastly, LPG na gas wey get the potential for combustion, if person mishandle am, e fit come fall for inside the gen house that alone fit make am blow.

The risks many share. But to solve petrol problem, government too suppose put hand inside this matter provide us stable electricity. Na cray fish make fish bend like this.
964  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Work from home or an office job? on: September 15, 2023, 10:29:34 PM
Growing up, we've always fancied the idea of a "white-collar job". it was more like everyone's dream to finish school and get an office job, it appeared as though those doing private businesses were the leftovers who weren't opportune to get employed.

Working from home came in and most persons are yet to come to terms with it with a misconceived idea that it always has an element of illegality in it. And for the younger once who stay with their parents but are into online business/jobs, some parents tend to term them lazy due to the amount of time spent on their gadgets.

Do you think the office job is over hyped?

Is it true that for you to make it big in the online space, you must be involved in an act of illegality?

Of course, the office job has been overhyped somehow. Especially in third world countries and other countries with growing economy where many perceive it as working in the office or having an office job is the only way to success. That is a long time misconception that have glued to our thinking faculties.

But another thing I will mention is that, with the advent of the Corona virus and the adjustments we had to make across the world, that has at least soften the misconceptions that one must have a white-collar job to make money. I think the technocrats also did excellently well to enlighten the world about the emerging technologies and how we can use it in our career jobs and working environments.

This has at least tamed the largely spread misconception.

In a nutshell, working at home is more advantageous to working in an office where you will have to walk or drive some miles to get to every day of the week. It has both economical and physical benefits. You get to save more money to settle other bills when you work from home instead of spending some bucks to fuel your vehicle. Physically, because working at home doesn't require you to undergo any physical stress of commuting. Other advantages of working remotely includes, additional time for family, time saving, flexibility and increased productivity level.

And also for making money in the online space. I think that fallacy has really eaten our society up but if I may ask you, what do you think is your personal opinion on this?

2) plagiarism: we make post of plagiarism and when you make such post of plagiarism you can be caught on act, and why people plagiarism is to make a quality posts, but it's because we are ignorant of act that is why we don't remember to add link when we copy some information from Internet to what we post, when you add the link of what copied is not against the forum rules and regulations, I have seen where such discussions took place in bitcointalk. I'm saying this do to some of the topics I have seen before now in forum.

OP, I enjoyed the manner in which you were able to connect your topic to the post by streamlining it to forum when making instances. Unfortunately, many people are perennial in their act of stealing other people's intellectual property which is totally wrong and unacceptable. Writers battle with this phase of their career like no other where you will craft out a beautiful epistle and the next thing is, you will find another person reposting it without sending you any form of acknowledgement or referencing. It is good to find out that this forum has continually worked on rewarding originality towards putting up a self-written posts here. Originality is imperative!

3) unintentional: what I understand in forum is that their is no mistake that occur in forum that will be called unintentional, they feel that your mistake is intentional, to limit committing crimes in forum is to make sure that you cross examined your post before posting, in newbie board such thread is also stamp pin in Upper of beginners and help board. Let us bring things that will make our board to be lively

Like I advised a newbie earlier, you need to be intentional in any post or topic you created and make sure it aligns with the guidelines of the forum. Sadly enough, many people have this non-chalant attitude of dumping posts without a review. I'm not saying I'm perfect either. But it will do just great if you could pause a sec, and go over it again. Learn to do Previews before posting.

966  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I took a proposal to my State Governor to accept Bitcoin Technology on: September 15, 2023, 04:32:48 PM
~
People do make an effort to make things work in our country. Not only politicians have the chance to see the governors, but I think if you have a good proposal, you will also find your way to see the governor in order to get what you want.

The OP’s effort is to try his best and see if the government can look into the proposal he/she makes, and if the government implements it, it will be a very good one, and we will hope our younger ones, once in secondary school, benefit from it.

Thank you Hyphen, submitting such good, unique and ambitious proposal will naturally give it the special attention it gots coupled with the fact that it is in tandem with the manifesto of the state governor. Pokapoka needs to equally understand that this is a new government, an new administrations like this have slimmer protocols as compared to an old government. He's also a young and ambitious Governor that is eager to offer more to the people through his open door policy. Finally, I suggest he goes through the paragraphs again.

But you have to prepare to face some problems. This may include regulatory problems since banks are restricted from dealing with bitcoin in Nigeria. The central government might see this move as an attack on their stance on Bitcoin. Politicians are corrupt, so expect the governor's aides to ask for kickbacks before you can get the needed sponsorship or assistance. Most students might not have access to Android phones or computers to do the practical aspect of Bitcoin education.

We will keep pushing until our nation becomes Bitcoin-friendly.

You're right but like you say, we will make the push. I want leverage the Governor's efforts to go that route. Including that he's someone with legislative background and the intention of working plus it will be easy for him to formulate state policies around this with his executive powers. Overall, like I mentioned earlier, we could get better by sharing stronger opinions on how this can fly higher.

You took a bold step to approach the government (Governor) with a proposal like this.. and that needs to be applauded, but government officials around the world, needs some kind of motivation to implement suggestions like this.

What do you think, will be the motivation for the Governor to implement this in Niger? (They always look for something, where they can benefit) Is there enough demand from his voters to ask for something like this?

Reason why we will need to organize a retreat with critical stakeholders including the government officials as the first plan. That will help give them a better understanding which now becomes a motivation to them to implement it, including the Governor. Even though the governor finds it interesting, I think we still need to bring him to speed with the updated knowledge of the Bitcoin technology.

I'm wondering, however, why "entrepreneurship/trade subject"? Why not finance or economics subject? Or perhaps information technology subject?

Oh. It's not like so, here a trade or entrepreneurship subject is simply one core “standalone” subject you will have to offer in your school curriculum to purposely acquire career and technical skills that you can later build on in your future endeavors. By studying an entrepreneurship subject, you have that edge of getting first hand and hands-on experience on the subject regardless of the field, whether in the field of finance, economics or information technology. Hence, the name 'Entrepreneurship Subject'.
967  Economy / Gambling / Re: Step into the ICE Poker metaverse @ Decentraland Games & win big prizes on: September 15, 2023, 08:20:07 AM
OP, I will suggest that you tour around this forum the more and make contributions to several topics and posts of interest so you get familiar with the forum as a Newbie. This will help you understand how to moderate topics like this and gives you more credibility. I think that's how it works across all faces of life. As for Decentral Games (DG), I bit informed about it. It's a web3 gaming ecosystem company and I think the ICE poker is good enough. I also commend the User Interface and responsiveness.
968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I took a proposal to my State Governor to accept Bitcoin Technology on: September 14, 2023, 08:28:15 PM
Niger State where I come from, one of Nigeria's nineteen northern states and known for its vast landmass, is not isolated from the challenges facing the region.

According to statistics, the unemployment rate in Nigeria is on the rise as shown in the statistical diagram below. The northern part of Nigeria also contribute to the rate of unemployment and a significant lack of skills among young people.

Source

Following the 2023 general elections, Niger State formed a new government with a clear agenda and manifesto to promote and support technology hubs across the state. This commitment was later extended to encompass the financial technology (Fintech) sector.

Source

Since I joined this forum, I have been encouraged to take the knowledge I have gathered over here and in life to my people especially to my younger ones back home having recognized the global adoption of Bitcoin technology, I took the initiative to propose to the state Governor the introduction of Bitcoin technology into our secondary school system as a core entrepreneurship subject.

By introducing Bitcoin technology, it will benefit our students in so many ways. Firstly, it will equips them with essential skills for the future. In an increasingly digital world, understanding cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology is becoming crucial. If the government can implement my initiative of providing this knowledge at the secondary school level, we will empower our students to be more competitive and prepared for the evolving market.

Submission of Proposal Letter and My Visit to the Governor's Office

On September 12, 2023, at around 11 AM, I submitted my letter of proposal to the Governor and with the help of the Chief of Staff and through our cordial relationship, we were invited to meet with the Governor on September 13, 2023.

The images above shows the written proposed letter, when it was submitted and the final acknowledge copy.

The Governor's Commendation

Yesterday being the September 13, 2023, I had the privilege of meeting with the Governor himself. During my meeting with His Excellency, the Governor expressed keen interest in my innovative idea and commended my efforts. He called it a laudable effort that will bring about a monumental technological advancement to the state.

He assured me that he would consider my proposal and pledged to include technological advancements like this in his future policies. As a sign of his support and encouragement, the Governor extended an executive handshake.

Taking Executive handshake with my State Governor

My plan on how to make this a reality should the governor gives a call back for implementation

1. We would organize a retreat with the relevant government and non governmental stakeholders

Aim: To enlighten the governor and other stakeholders on the fundamental knowledge they need to know about the Bitcoin technology.

Process: We will invite Bitcoin experts within and outside the state to attend this retreat programme as panelists as we pick and discuss the relevant topics.

2. Upon the success of the retreat programme, we will organize a Train-the-Trainer bootcamp programme.

Aim: From the independent research  I've been able to gather that there are about 500 secondary schools in Niger state. To get at least 2 teachers per school trained on how the Bitcoin technology operate wherein the secondary school teachers captured to carry out the trade subject across various schools will be trained on the basic knowledge of the Bitcoin technology. This is similar to the CISCO Networking Academy Program implemented in various unity schools.

Process: Invite resource persons to the state to train the trainers who are in turn the teachers that will go into the classes.

These are the plans i have mapped out should the governor gives a call back for implementation. I am open to more suggestions on this forum to commiserates my ideas in actualizing this.

In conclusion, my proposal to integrate Bitcoin technology into secondary school education in Niger State has received a positive response from the state government.

I am optimistic that this initiative will not only provide valuable skills to our youth but also contribute to the broader goal of promoting technology and entrepreneurship in our region. As I eagerly await further developments, I remain committed to working towards a brighter and more technologically advanced future for my state and my country at large.
969  Other / Politics & Society / Re: corrupt practices of African democratic leaders. on: September 13, 2023, 07:45:17 PM
Africa is blessed with natural resources. But are under the mis-management by there corrupt leaders who claims to be democratic. but their for personal benefits. let's look at president Ali Bongo and family, which was said to have been in power for over 53years. but was taken over by military, as a case study.
should Africans agree for military takeover of all the Africa nations for proper restoration of African glory. or they should remean in corrupt democratic government .
what are your say on this......
Whether military rule is the best or not is not the case. I believe every country had it's peculiarities in terms of the events that led to the ousting of the erstwhile democratic governments. Like in the case of Niger, what led to the military takeover wss driving by three factors.

Firstly, even though Niger has several foreign (USA, France) military forces and bases situated in the country, yet Niger is faced with the invasion of insurgent groups such as the Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, etc which has resulted to thousands of deaths and displaced homes which has been seemingly neglected by the government.

Secondly, the ECOWAS, like in most west African countries, haven't made as much efforts as it should as a body in terms of intervention programmes yet they go about bossing to restore Bazoum.

Lastly, which is the least of all is that the former president Bazoum had an identity crisis in the last election where he was labeled to have foreign interests above the national interest due to his Arab origin.

When you compared that to what happened to Ali Bongo of Gabon, it's quite a different scenario, in Gabon, it was more of electoral malpractices and imposition. They president was widely rejected by the citizens yet had it's way through to win at the polls. That brought about several agitations that led to the coup. Also realize that the economic downturn in the country amidst the natural endowment in the small country has led it to several outcries. And the list goes on.

It's just a case of the world power tussle between the UN Permanent Security Council Members.
970  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Acceptcoin.io – a universal solution for accepting crypto payments! on: September 13, 2023, 05:31:54 AM
P2P cannot be applied here because this service is not intended for trading in the first place. This service, as Op explained, is for accepting payments in cryptocurrency, as it allows the seller of goods or services on the Internet to receive payments in cryptocurrencies. It can be said that it is a payment gateway and not an exchange platform.
Thank you Legend. The simple deference between the two of platforms was really helpful.
971  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Acceptcoin.io – a universal solution for accepting crypto payments! on: September 12, 2023, 11:23:57 PM
I like the User Interface (UI) and I also enjoined the responsiveness of the website. Although I haven't subscribed to any of your services but I think the services provided are good for a start. One thing I noticed is that the Acceptcoin.io doesn't have a mobile application on iOS and even on android. I think improving on that aspect will increase the usability and credibility of the platform. Another thing is we cannot tell were your company is located which is bad for business.

The question I also wanted to ask was whether the company has considered bringing in the P2P platform that will allow you trade directly with other users?
972  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: On security Nigeria died on: September 12, 2023, 10:59:19 PM
Until our security institution is reformed and made to stand for what they are supposed to, I don't see us making much progress as a people.

Nigeria don reach condition wey, the only thing wey we fit talk na, till God put hand inside our matter or better still "until death do us part". Because living in Nigeria is like a time ticking bomb. And you're just meant to enjoy the moment you're in and expect the worse of the day. Unfortunately, no be say e sweet to say, but na the koko reality be that. Ayyah!

The security of a country is measured by plenty things which starts from the strength of the Economy, respect to rule of law, justice in the judicial system up to the security architecture of the states, the intelligence response team/force, the level of government's response to to violence and crimes, access to healthcare and basic education amongst others.

Now make we put our country on a scale of 100%, I doubt if our country fit boast of 50% of any of those above-mentioned measuring parameters. That's where the issues lies.

Make we see how porous out borders be, how weak our internal security be and how hardworking but incapacitated our troops be. It only takes God's intervention or "till death do us part" to right the wrong ss a giant of Africa.

In the end, I go just advise each and everyone of us to stay safe out there and remain steadfast to our faith. Make we continue to protect ourselves and our community and make no body siddon look.
973  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / A female beggar disappeared with a child this afternoon on: September 12, 2023, 06:29:41 PM
I was driving to the office this afternoon and found a crowd gathered on the flyover bridge in the city bypass. Because of the nature of the location, it will be ordinarily bewildering to find a chunk number of people gathered in that location.

Well, it was the case of a beggar who purportedly disappeared with a child at a shanty house located in a closed range beneath the flyover bridge. I was extremely shocked and scared to witness the incident live at the scene. As described by one of the police men there, the culprit was a woman who was escorted with an old tattered looking man. The beggar woman disappeared with the child that was better described as a girl. I be like mogbe, this thing dey really, really happen be that?

Before e happen for my kororo eye today, honestly, I been no wan believe say these things are real. For instance, day before yesterday, we been dey discuss these issues for office and I still maintained that I don't believe in it.
Like my colleague at office mentioned another incident that he claimed happened in his koro-koro eye too, where a guy's pr*ck was stolen and they had to travel in several kilometers to recover it back.

As we are faced with the current inflation in Nigeria, scarcity of food amongst other hardships alias current realities that are ushered by the effect of the fuel subsidy removal, many unbelievable sad stories and events continue to trend over the social media platforms.

Everything put together is scary right now.

What's actually going on in this our country?

Sha, all na my own opinion.

It is exciting to receive this humanitarian assistance from Binance, which provided $3,000,000 in BNB to its users who were affected by the unfortunate 'Morocco earthquake' tragedy.

According to the Binance founder and CEO CZ, he said: “The impact of the earthquake on the Moroccan people is devastating. We hope we can bring some support to those affected. For Moroccan users who receive these donations but are unimpacted by the earthquake, we ask them to pass the funds on to those most in need.”

To my esteemed forum friends and family, this is indeed a one-of-a-kind. Let's celebrate the Binance company while we continue to mourn and show our kind support to the affected citizens of Morocco.

Oh yeah mate. you can manually do arbitrage on Binance by buying BTC on the spot market and selling it on the futures market (intra-arbitrage). One have attempted it before but mate, the fluctuations is at a speedy level that you need to be utterly fast to be able to take advantage of price differences between the different markets or exchanges.
977  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ted Cruz is a ‘Big Believer’ In Bitcoin Mining on: September 10, 2023, 10:44:52 PM
Aside from Ted Cruz, there are a more couple of USA politicians that are inclined with the crypto/Bitcoin technology. For example, Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minnesota), Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-New York), Rep. French Hill (R-Arkansas), Rep. Ro Khanna (D-California), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York), Rep. Patrick McHenry, (R-North Carolina) and couple of more are introducing the Bitcoin technology to the citizenry. Have in mind that the “D” and “R” in the brackets means  Democrats and Republican political parties, respectively. Which also goes to say that the adoption of Bitcoin/cryptocurrencies is a cross-party thing and I am pretty sure that, with time, Bitcoin could be a legal tender in the USA if the numbers increase.

You can go through the article below to learn more about their contributions to the Bitcoin technology.

Hello, Devs. After seeing a similar thread that provided hands-on resources and tools for debugging and simulating Bitcoin scripts, I decided to put together this topic on the resources and tools for querying Blockchain APIs. If you wish to build Blockchain applications, you will most likely require these data query tools in order to own your decentralised softwares and apps.

Name of Tool/Resource    DescriptionLink
Bitiodine Cluster AnalysisA Rust Bitcoin blockchain parser with clustering capabilities, allowing to group together addresses in ownership clusters. The parser is compatible with SegWit, correctly parses bech32 native outputs and witness programs, and deals with chain splits gracefully.https://github.com/mikispag/bitiodine
Blockbook wallet indexing serviceBlockbook is back-end service for Trezor wallet that helps you to access index of addresses and address balances of the connected block chain, fast index search, simple blockchain explorer etc.https://github.com/trezor/blockbook
Bitcoin Iterate blockchain parserThis is some fast code to iterate over bitcoind's block files to extract blockchain data from the main blockchain. You can use this to show block hash and transaction size for each transaction in the main chain.https://github.com/rustyrussell/bitcoin-iterate
Blocks IteratorIterates over Bitcoin blocks, decoding data inside Bitcoin Core's blocks directory.https://github.com/RCasatta/blocks_iterator
Bitcoin Graph Database BuilderBitcoin Graph Database Builder (Blockchain2graph) helps you extracts blockchain data (bitcoin) and insert them into a graph database (neo4j).https://github.com/straumat/blockchain2graph
