961  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will i fail the bet? on: March 03, 2017, 04:44:40 PM
I've got 50mB; and i betting at 0.00001mB increase bet by 100% on loss. If someone can explain to me how i will lose and how gambling actually works then please explain further. Because betting at such a low value i would have to fail more than 20times right? So is the game really fair or how does it work?

Math and statistics are always against you in the world of casinos and gambling in general, unless you know for a fact that odds are in your side, but casinos usually make profit by always having an edge.

What I mean is, you always need luck to break even, luck is the x factor.
962  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: March 03, 2017, 04:07:43 PM
For me, watching Floyd Mayweather box is never boring, maybe is because I do some boxing myself and know the details of the sport. What he does is extremely difficult... but yes, I can understand that casual fans only want to see huge guys with massive KO power like Mike Tyson and George Foreman.

It is still a very interesting fight to see because of its oddity of 2 mixed sports for the casuals so we will see. I just hope it happens so I can make easy money again thanks to Floyd since he should win.
963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin less evil than PayPal? on: March 02, 2017, 11:38:34 PM
I didn't ever see the point in comparing both. Paypal is a centralized payment network, bitcoin is a decentralized currency. Very different services. In fact bitcoin is not a "service", its a tool, paypal is just a fiat derivative.
964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Delusional BUcoiners/r/btc nutjobs on suicide watch on: March 02, 2017, 07:21:58 PM
It's obvious now that when Roger Ver tweeted all day about blocks being full and how bitcoin was going to collapse because of that (and the price was like $400 when the propaganda went on full steam) he was talking shit.

The market has decided: Bitcoin is valuable as it is now. You can blame the miners (basically the guy you mentioned) for not accepting segwit because he knows BU would give him more power, and segwit would make him less money due the blocksize increase (or so he thinks, but since the price would go up, he would end up making more money).

This just shows the miner monopoly consists of illiterate morons.

In any case, this does not mean we should stop talking about scaling bitcoin, but the /r/btc trolls are certainly not helping.
965  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Problems That Must To Be Solved Or Dash Will Win on: March 02, 2017, 06:31:17 PM
My thoughts:
1) Why the self-moderated thread?
2) This sounds like pure propaganda from a DASH pumper.
3) DASH is a premined shitcoin. I know, as I was there, mining it while it was called Darkcoin (DRK).

That said, let's evaluate:
Quote
Instant transactions
Unsafe.

Quote
Private sending (mixing coins in the wallet)
Anonymity provided by Dash is negligible in comparison to Monero.

Quote
And we have couple Bitcoin core developers who running from Bitcoin Core to Dash.
Complete lie.

Well i don't know, but to me Dash sounds promising.
Why instant transactions unsafe?

You seem new into this. You should always consider that everything has tradeoffs.

Now, you think instant transactions come without a price?

Bitcoin is slower, and more expensive, because it's more robust. You think Dash developers are smarter than the Core developers which consists of cryptography legends? Get real.

You can't have instant transactions that are as safe as the transactions happening in the bitcoin network (backed by the biggest amount of hashing power on earth). This is a simple matter of PHYSICS.

We will have instant, cheap transactions and rationally safe enough with LN, but stop dreaming about what is physically impossible.

If such a coin existed, everyone would move there and we all would be rich overnight.
966  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Giving up gambling is not easy on: March 02, 2017, 05:11:10 PM
It's really easy, just give up and the first days will be brutal, but it will be great once you conquer the urge to gamble, you can eventually even get bored of gambling and you will start saving money.

If you don't know how to deal with your gambling its better than you dont gamble or disasters will happen.
967  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think "iamnotback" really has the" Bitcoin killer"? on: March 02, 2017, 04:23:01 PM
Any takes on why in the fuck is freaking Dash skyrocketing?

Im happy that I didn't buy any altcoins and decided to stay all in on bitcoin as I predicted it was going to keep climbing.

On the other hand, im more interested in making more BTC rather han making more USD, and im mad that im not holding Dash, but then again, of all the altcoins.. who would have known Dash would fly?

Did they make any advancements in the technology or this the mere result of agressive marketing thanks to Amanda B Jonhson plastered all over Youtube? In that case, I expect a big ass dump.

How does Ethereim handle the scaling problem?  It looks like they will be soon having an insane transaction volume with all the members of the consortium joining and building apps.  Why does the Ethereim scaling strategy work there buy not on Bitcoin?

What the hell is an Ethereim?

Switching to POS = centralization...
Isn't it the other way around? Take Bitcoin as prime example, most of the hashrate centralized in China due to cheap electricity cost. In PoS there is no electricity cost which means that the network won't only be centralized in places with cheap electricity but can be anywhere -> decentralization.

To answer OP's question, in very basic terms. Ethereum uses the same concept as Bitcoin Unlimited = the miners choose how big the blocks are.

Not really. PoS = big stakeholders rule, also, PoS is way more insecure than PoW. Nothing tops the security of bitcoin's PoW network with his huge hashing rate. Ethereum = banksters coin. Now big pocketed banks will call the shots.

BU just doesn't work, that's why it will never get anywhere. Bitcoin Core is the best we got nowadays objectively. Sure it sucks that china has cheap ass electricity which makes them big players in the mining game, specially when we have that Jihan idiot blocking segwit, but can we do? They still have to deal with the other parties (nodes, merchants, and wallet developers)

In BUcoin model, miners rule. In ETHcoin model, banksters rule.
969  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: March 01, 2017, 04:57:43 PM
New videos on this subject:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iibTRaLBQE

I think it will happen eventually, they are just pumping the fight with videos and instagram posta and all that shit to get as much people interested a possible. It's like they are pumping an altcoin with hype, then when the hype is at all time highs they will dump the altcoin for bitcoin. Classic move Cheesy
970  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people keep saying BTC is dead?! on: March 01, 2017, 04:09:37 PM
It's always great to revisit the classics when Bitcoin hits all time highs. Just go to bitcoinobituaries.com and have fun reading about all the idiots that jumped ship claiming bitcoin was a failed experiment, the best one was Mike Hearn ragequitting at 400 dollars lol.
971  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain vs DAG (Byteball's concencus algorithm). on: February 23, 2017, 06:12:04 PM
sorry for getting offtopic.

but did you realise that is an almost sig-add free topic.

now back to the topic i tried to understand.

Who the fuck are you?

If you are talking about me, how is it off-topic, and nonetheless, im not even making money from posting since I already surpassed the amount of maximum paid posts for this month on the campaign im at so you fucked up by accusing me of spamming.

Now indeed let's get back on topic.
972  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New video: Ardor Pumpin, Byteball Jumpin, Bitcoin Dumpin on: February 23, 2017, 05:16:59 PM

His article doesn't say anything remarkable. Just a ragequitter because his stupid bitcoin XT powergrab hard fork attempt didn't work.

What I want to know is why are you buying other cryptos? If you think bitcoin is flawed and "doesn't scale", how can you buy other cryptos that obviously will have the same problems if they ever get anywhere notable in terms of usage?

Bitcoin has a roadmap to scale, and has the big network effect, has tons of people working on it.

Im the first guy searching for the alt that makes me an overnight millionaire in some of those huge pumps, but im not stupid to believe any of those alts will take bitcoin's #1 spot, because they can't.

Unless someone clearly came out with a coin that:

1) Is as strong as bitcoin (backed by the biggest amount of computer power on earth)
2) Scales onchain to global levels of transactions per second
3) Maintains a fast speed and cheap fees while doing so
4) Doesn't have any of the major problems that other algos have (nothing at stake for PoS etc)

Then I would buy that thing like crazy. But guess what: That does not exist, and BTC + LN is the best thing we have nowadays.

You are not searching, you are protecting your turf.

I can tell from your tone and arguments.

Don't make the mistake of thinking im being too conservative for no reason. I may be conservative with the way I invest my BTC, but that is just common sense.

I don't know you earned your BTC, but I had to work very hard, and I don't even own 3 BTC figures, so I have a modest portfolio, but who knows if in 10 years it can be life changing money, so I don't want to waste it along the way in fake promises.

And with that being said, looks like your decision was a mistake.

Ardor: Lower today than on Feb 10 when you made this post.
Byteball: Lower today than on Feb 10 when you made this post.
Bitcoin: Hitting all time highs.
Conclusion: Bitcoin holders win again.
973  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain vs DAG (Byteball's concencus algorithm). on: February 23, 2017, 04:05:52 PM
Can bitcoin somehow adapt DAG?

No. Bitcoiners are scared of changes.

It is not that we are scared of changes. I am eager to diversify some of my BTC portfolio, to make gains faster by getting into a project that is not smoke and mirrors/not a plain meme, the problem is, I can't find it. There is always something that makes me thing im investing into a short lived pump and dump, or medium term pump and dump at best if the project is something ambitious but ultimately has flaws that make it nonviable long term.

I don't feel like getting my hard earned BTC scammed by investing in altcoins that don't end up delivering anything relevant enough beyond what BTC can currently (or in the future) offer. And I work my ass off for a low paying job with bad health in order to invest in my BTC portfolio and continue growing it so that makes me extra cautious when investing a single satoshi.
974  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What would the perfect "upgraded bitcoin" look like, perform like? on: February 22, 2017, 07:34:22 PM
We have already a lot of upgrades for bitcoin in the pipeline, but we need first segwit. With segwit, we get schnorr signatures, which would allow for a lot of cool new tricks.

Mimble wimble, sidechains, LN... once we have all of that, we will be looking at a bitcoin that is almost unbeatable, it will be very strong, the price will be $5,000+, we have seen nothing yet.

Of course, we need segwit first. People opposting segwit are terrorists against bitcoin.
975  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Rule: buy when others are irrationally pessimistic or too cautious on: February 22, 2017, 05:59:29 PM
What about the lightning network? Can this properly cover the need of "VISA tier" transaction volume while being decentralized enough to stay safe from global attackers, governments, triple letter agencies etc?

As far as other alternatives, from what I've seen the most interesting thing is the DAG one (byteball) but I haven't bought yet since I dont see it clear enough.

Also what are the chances that we ever see a global government? It's something I can't fathom, since there will always be some countries that don't agree. For example I see tax havens/privacy-friendly countries becoming bitcoin friendly and profit from it by doing so.
976  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Favorite contact sport events to gamble with? on: February 22, 2017, 04:46:08 PM
i have been watching boxing matches several times and it was very exciting but since i know MMA i think this sport was could be my favourite because they combine all of martial arts and the matches is more interesting to me so my favourite sport contact is MMA

Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, I don’t like MMA fights that much because they are too real, you know, while I’m sure there are rules but  the fights in MMA are very similar to street fights with no rules where the only important thing is to win.

MMA is a cool spectacle, but it's too brutal, those knees to the head, and the elbows too, that's too much, but it's fun to see it, of course I would never expose myself to that sport.

Boxing is better to practice, but don't get tricked: it's also a brutal sport.
977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain vs DAG (Byteball's concencus algorithm). on: February 22, 2017, 04:01:22 PM
Hi,

DAG (directed acyclic graph) seems to good to be true, no need for miners. No block size issue, no %51 attack. Finalization. More decentrilized.
What are the cons of DAG vs blockchain?
Can bitcoin somehow adapt DAG?

Thanks for answers.

Good thread. I was also wondering this myself. If this was the case, wouldn't this coin be worth more than BTC already? there must be something, there are always tradeoffs.

I remember reading iamnotback commenting on some Byteball flaws but I dont remember the details.

I don't own any, would like to know more to see if it's worth holding or not.
978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins... One year later on: February 22, 2017, 03:32:26 PM
Yup not a single coin worth holding more than 1 month maximum, and that is stretching it. Most likely, if you hold an altcoin for more than 1 month, you will lose your BTC.

BTC is king, everyone is after your BTC, so keep your eyes wide open, or you may get scammed. This does not mean you must stop looking for new opportunities in the crypto world, but right now BTC rules.
979  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think "iamnotback" really has the" Bitcoin killer"? on: February 21, 2017, 06:20:33 PM
I need to fix my thyroid status, finding the root causes is too hard so realistically

Stabilize it. Get rich. Hire the best doctors at a university research hospital (in a first world country) and isolate the root cause. Live an awesome life thereafter. Helps to have a goal.

I would need indeed to get rich if I ever wanted to really find out my particular problem, since the amount of bloodwork and other tests that would need be done overtime require that you are rich, so im stuck with very basic resources.

I would need BTC to go at least 40K per coin to get rich and by rich I mean to have at least 1 million inflation adjusted USD.

I don't have many other holdings than that unfortunately, and I don't see BTC reaching 40k anytime soon...

So unless you can deliver something that goes to the moon, I don't see any other ways to get rich. I don't feel like gambling with my bitcoin holdings in the altcoin market specially right now when clearly BTC is showing its dominance and continues growing.
980  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think "iamnotback" really has the" Bitcoin killer"? on: February 21, 2017, 04:45:44 PM

This seems like solid progress to me lol. Im glad I wasn't born in the 18th century, those big ass pants look fucking stupid.

About health, my temperature is cold, I don't tolerate cold very easily, I need to fix my thyroid status, finding the root causes is too hard so realistically I can only aim to patch with t4/t3 meds, maybe i should up calories too but its too difficult to know how many calories you really eat since measurements are inaccurate and also it stresses me to keep track of it. Im low bodyfat naturally so i dont have problems to keep low bodyfat and the unoptimal thyroid luckily doesn't make me a fat mess, I always have visible abs.

Once I make some tests and check some things I will go back to gym and see how my body reacts, I have been taking a long break.
