9661  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Does a tx contain a timestamp, and/or does a signed tx remain valid forever? on: July 31, 2015, 02:48:18 PM
Assuming that no protocol changes to transactions happens and no one has spent those inputs yet, then that transaction can be broadcast whenever you want. There is no timestamp and the time is not a part of the transaction unless you include a locktime.
9662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Phuket villa owner agrees to accept bitcoin, how do I proceed on: July 31, 2015, 02:46:19 PM
You could ask him to try using a multisig escrow. You can deposit into that address and he would know that you can't access the coins. Then after you are done your stay there, you can deposit the remaining into the address and release the Bitcoin to him. I would recommend that you either find someone on this forum for that or use keyscrow.com for it.
9663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEW CIVILIAN TOR Browser + blockchain tech. FROM CHINA! on: July 31, 2015, 02:39:23 PM
What do you mean by "based on the Bitcoin protocol"? I don't quite understand that. Can you go into details on how the DVPN uses Bitcoin to become distributed.

Also, why do you store the credentials on the blockchain and have them change instead of making this network something open to the public that does not require authentication? Something like Tor?

Lastly how does this protect my privacy? Does your network route my data through three different VPNs before it reaches its destination like Tor does? It seems like the only privacy is the data is going through 1 VPN before its destination which opens up the whole thing to privacy and Man-In-The-Middle attacks. That 1 VPN could be malicious and it would know who the user is and where he is going. How do you solve this?

9665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods? on: July 30, 2015, 10:29:13 PM
Yes, I do groceries with Bitcoin. I go out for diner or the pub, and pay with Bitcoin. I pay for physical products and 'real' services weekly with Bitcoin!
Really? Do they accept Bitcoin or are you doing that with a Bitcoin Debit Card like Bit-x?

In major cities (especially in northern europe) there are a lot of pubs and businesses that provide for bitcoin payments.  In my city in the USA, the waiter usually brings over a tablet and shows you a QR code.  I then scan the QR code and send btc to the address and that's that.  They don't even make me wait for a confirmation (thank God, that would have been terrible during the spam/stress-tests).
Interesting. I haven't seen any around me but maybe that's because I'm not looking hard enough. Are there any accurate maps with all of the places that accept Bitcoin?
9666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core synchronization too slow (2 years and 11 weeks)! on: July 30, 2015, 10:07:34 PM
Hello,

I'm new to the forum and to Bitcoin mining but I have 30 years experience of mainframe computing behind me (MVS/zOS/USS) so I know how things are supposed to happen Wink.

I decided to run a full node on a Raspberry PI2 (Raspian) using Bitcoin core v100100. I understand there is a lot of work to do handling the blockchain now that it is +30GB but I don't understand why the daemon keeps crashing, like every 20 minutes?

I start it like this bitcoind -daemon -disablewallet -dbcache=50, is there something missing here ?

Thanks
Since Bitcoin Core puts a heavy load on the processor and network, it could be drawing too much power and causing the power supply to fail. Try using a power supply with higher amperage and higher quality.
9667  Economy / Digital goods / [WTB] Kerbal Space Program on Steam on: July 30, 2015, 09:40:46 PM
I would like to buy a Kerbal Space Program Steam gift for $35. That is .
Please PM or reply if you are interested. Escrow if needed but you will need to find an escrow and pay any fees.
9668  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do You Earn Free Bitcoins? on: July 30, 2015, 08:14:19 PM
With 15 TH/s ... you can have 1 BTC per week ...
https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

Grin but electrical supply and material must be free ... Cheesy

How do I do that?
Buy a few thousand bucks of ASIC hardware. That doesn't fit into your budget of 0. Your best option is to look around in the services sub forum and see if there is anything that you are able to do that someone will pay you for. That is a fast way to earn some Bitcoin without any initial monetary investment. You can also look for sig campaigns but most won't accept newbies. You can also buy a higher level account and use that in a sig campaign but that requires that you have Bitcoin to begin with.

9670  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: thinking about making a bitcoin altcoin exchange site, is that legal? on: July 30, 2015, 07:03:16 PM
Thanks, if I operate in one state but doing online work for a different state, still need license of that state?
Yes. If someone from a state can go onto your website and exchange Bitcoin for fiat, then you are operating in that state. You will either need to get several licenses, or prevent users from states where you are not licensed from registering or doing anything.

If I only doing stuff convert from one cryptocurrency to another, such as from bitcoin to litecoin etc, in this way I do not need a license? I do not let people withdrawal by wire and by cash, only let people withdraw by Bitcoin

Thanks
I don't think you will need a license if no fiat at all is every involved. However, you should still consult a lawyer as the information that you get on this forum might not be correct.
9671  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: thinking about making a bitcoin altcoin exchange site, is that legal? on: July 30, 2015, 06:53:36 PM
Thanks, by the way what is fiat?

Normal money. Stuff that governments issue e.g. USD, GBP, etc.

also, if I get all the licenses for operating this in US, will it take a long time and cost a lot ?

I think it will take a lot of time and cost at least 100 USD and the laws also vary state by state. I think you will need to get a license for all states that you want to operate in. If you offer your service to a particular state, then you must get the license for that state.

If you plan on doing this, I would advise you to get a lawyer who knows what he is doing.
9672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEW CIVILIAN TOR Browser + blockchain tech. FROM CHINA! on: July 30, 2015, 05:42:13 PM
I thought Tor was vulnerable due to "Exit node eavesdropping"?

Tor has certain vulnerabilities yes.

https://newsoffice.mit.edu/2015/tor-vulnerability-0729

This talk about more recent work on Tor Security. Tor isint perfect. Its also vulnerable to man in the middle attack.

It's just very hard to trace back but its not impossible especially with user error. For example its possible for private data to be gathered over Tor if you use js or mishandle the browser.

Tor is not foolproof, but it is constantly improved.

The three articles Blazin8888 posted have been fixed and have been fixed for a very long time. Tor has been modified so that it will always use https so the exit nodes can't snoop. It has modifications that warn of html5 canvasing and javascript. It blocks javascript from running. Running Tor with default settings is quite secure. It only becomes insecure when users decide to mess around and change things for their convenience.

Of Course, it is vulnerable to traffic analysis. So is every other network in the world. It can be prevented and people are working on it.

What I want to know is how can this project be better than Tor? Does it solve the issues that Tor has found and fixed? Does it solve issues currently in Tor that have not been fixed but are known? Is it as secure?

9674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEW CIVILIAN TOR Browser + blockchain tech. FROM CHINA! on: July 30, 2015, 05:10:33 PM
Silk road was seized by the fbi. I am trying to figure out if this solves the LE problem. Can we truly DECENTRALIZE websites. Keep them out of reach for good.

But that was not Tor's fault. That was operator error. That was Ross Ulbricht failing to have good Operation Security, not Tor failing to do its job. I guarantee you that people will be arrested and sites seized on your network due to the stupidity of the operators, not because the network is broken. Tor is perfectly fine and works as intended.
9675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEW CIVILIAN TOR Browser + blockchain tech FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE! on: July 30, 2015, 04:59:28 PM

English please for everyone else.

Can you answer the questions I asked above?
9676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods? on: July 30, 2015, 04:55:10 PM
Uh ok, there was a misinterpretation... Localbitcoins has escrow already, why Bitpay or Coinbase can't set it up as well?
They might allow refunds, I'm not sure. But I think they also exchange the Bitcoin for fiat immediately, so they no longer hold the Bitcoin. They also allow the merchant to withdraw sooner than other companies do. Instead of waiting a few months, I think they only wait a few days before letting merchants withdraw their funds.

Also, there is a problem of how to refund people. Do they refund the Bitcoin paid or the exchanged currency equivalent amount of Bitcoin at the time of refund. E.g. if I want a refund for something I bought for 200 USD with 1 bitcoin do I get a refund of 1 Bitcoin when its price is 300 or do I get 200 USD worth of Bitcoin?
9677  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: BLOCKCHAIN.INFO SCAM ME OR WHAT on: July 30, 2015, 04:41:40 PM
Nothing, just wait a moment, . You can try log in again later. if the error persists then you have to contact their support.
I just opened blockchain and sent few bits, works fine here.

Edit : I think this should be on service discussion. You can move it there.

Hi my also one working but the another with more bitcoins not working balance show 0  and give ERROR DOWNLOADING WALLET BALANCE

If you could open another account, most likely it isn't because of your internet connection. do you have a bunch of addresses in your wallet ?, if yes probably it will take some time. If you need it urgent, you can contact their support.

I am trying again and again still same not show balance same  Cry
Have you tried their support yet? I'm pretty sure that it is something on their systems and not you.
9678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods? on: July 30, 2015, 04:39:12 PM

Why you say that refund is impossible?

The system should have one additional field of Bitcoin address in case of refund, that the user should fill as well when buying.

That's as easy as that, or am I missing something?
You can't reverse a Bitcoin transaction. Getting a refund relies on trusting the other guy to send the Bitcoin back to you. Most large business will do that, but some of the smaller ones probably won't.

Yes but it's not impossible at all.
When you use Paypal, and you ask for refund, you are not receiving some banknotes, the exact banknotes you gave to the shopper, right?
Paypal is granting for you.
Well the same should happen with Bitcoin.
I can't see a difference.
Sure, it must be a LARGE company, able to take into its shoulders some small fraud, but if you think that Bitcoin costs are far below the ones Paypal has to pay, it won't need too much time until a company like this will appear.
It could be Paypal itself that will begin to adopt Bitcoin, exactly to just cut legs to any other big company that could enter and take their place.
Paypal can just go into their database of paypal transfers and reverse a transaction. They can just delete it. So can credit card companies. But with Bitcoin, once the transaction is confirmed, it can't be deleted and the only way to refund is to trust that the seller will send the Bitcoin back. With Paypal and credit cards, the money doesn't actually reach the seller until much later. The third party companies can do all of the refunds and chargebacks. With Bitcoin, the money goes right into the seller's wallet, so instead of relying on a large credit card company or Paypal whose job is to manage these things, you need to trust the seller who only wants to make money.

9680  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: thinking about making a bitcoin altcoin exchange site, is that legal? on: July 30, 2015, 04:17:27 PM
I am thinking to make a site to exchange bitcoin and altcoins, is this legal?
Yes

1 do I need some license in USA or Canada
2 I need to request Id and address proof from the member who want to withdrew?
3 no Id required for exchange between bitcoin and altcoin? I noticed all the exchanger only request id when withdrawal
Only if fiat is involved

4 need to register with some bank? Or I can just let the members exchange and pay by themselves and I just be a bridge? Is this legal?
If it is a centralized exchange where people deposit money into your bank account, then it is only legal if you get a license. In the US, you would be considered a money transmitter business and you need a permit.

5 I can put a lot of altcoins there?

Thanks
Whatever you want. It is your site.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer and this is by no means guaranteed to be accurate. If you intend on involving fiat, please look up the regulations with dealing with large amounts of fiat in the countries you wish to operate.
