9681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: VEGA 64 mining FREE WISDOM on: January 01, 2018, 11:43:53 PM
You need to mention your full spec, but I would put all your components into a PSU calculator and see if its well below the rating for your PSU.    Vega can draw alot of power for a moment even if it sits below 150w most of the time.

I imagine its something along those lines.   A PSU loses about 10% of its capacity for each year its been used also.  Maybe try disconnect power cables, or rotate from spare stock just to be sure.   Obviously can try a new OS install to rule that out.

I find VEGA very weird in general.  I dont know if Im seeing things but its doing 49MH for Skunk.   I lowered it from 240w on GPU-z and its now down to 78w showing the same hash, I dont know what its changed to drop and still keep the same hash.    Reminds me of people who reported clocking 2000 mhz core and actually it was the card false reporting, but hashing I should know.
In this case the fan speed also halved and temps are lower, it would seem its dropped volts by itself.  I have also seen it report 700w usage as a spike, check your highest on the counter and anyone might see similar
9682  Economy / Gambling / Re: Nitrogen $20 withdrawal fee on: January 01, 2018, 08:10:13 PM
They do offer one free withdrawal per week so it is not really sticking it to their loyal customers.

They did start offering to have bets lower than the 0.001btc minimum a while back if that helps any. Undecided

That does sound fair, every good company takes care of their smallest customers because this represents the highest growth rate in any economy even gambling.    Bitcoin itself is failing to understand that the network needs the smaller transactions to stay healthy, it cant all be about whales speculating and some of us just want to move value around the internet without hassle.

All of this fee stuff is negative press and puts people off the idea of using crypto, I do hope someone develops a stable reliable scalable solution as the benefits are reciprocal.
9683  Economy / Gambling / Re: BETCOIN.AG -The #1 ɃTC ETH BCH LTC DASH XRP Casino Sports Dice Community- 4 YRS! on: January 01, 2018, 07:56:03 PM
Last time I used Betcoin to withdraw, it allowed LTC and ETH, is that still not the case and why not use them considering the Bitcoin fees problem is effecting everyone not really just a problem here.      Withdraw the LTC or ETH to an exchange if you feel like and convert it to BTC there.    I tend to avoid BTC use if I can, my last look for Bittrex for example showed I would have to pay 20 dollars to move the money which is highway robbery and the miners are way out of line thinking that idea can continue.

Heres a chart to reference, my reading would be that it might be possible to transfer on 50-70 sat/byte fee

9684  Economy / Gambling / Re: [CSGOBetGuide.com] List Of CSGO Gambling Sites - No Deposit Bonuses & Much more! on: December 31, 2017, 09:18:44 PM
I thought steam cracked down on this kind of betting in the last year and banned a bunch of people who were involved? It seems they don't like these gambling sites, they can be easily rigged against you and even if you did win - you might get a steam ban.

Valve wont be going after people who trade skins if thats what you mean, its allowed and encouraged even.   Obviously the company Valve benefits greatly, Gabe Newell is a billionaire thanks to such open standards as steam supports.   It would be a mistake to go after the ordinary users and I believe thats usually the case for most successful companies.

I know of a few sites that started up and accept skins, its probably still not as widespread as when csgolounge was around and I kinda miss that as I was a big user of that site.  I dont mean big amounts, I mean just alot of games with small bets and it was nice they accepted any skin at all.    I dont know of any site that is that nice to the little guys now, most sites require just the big items and as said above they then cash you out in tokens or even BTC and let you trade or bet that.     I would prefer to stay in skins personally, if anyone knows of such a site I'm interested
9685  Economy / Speculation / Re: SELLING NOW = THE PEOPLE WHO SOLD WHEN IT DIPPED FROM $1000 TO $200 on: December 31, 2017, 08:31:17 PM
Past performance is not an indication of future results as they say.

 Smiley

Dow Theory says differently.  Thats a warning given to state nothing repeats simply as it did previously and I do agree with that point but also past events matter for reference.     I was just going to say I've been crypto since before Mt. Gox. blew up and I think that was the main influnce to the top that formed at 1000 and the drop afterwards.

The whole market was far more dependent on just BTC then it is now, we have some strong second place candidates now with different kinds of rhythm to them.     Also the market then was centralised to that exchange and without fully realising this price was not accurate, it was leveraged with the coins being counted twice.    So false accounting and too much trust in 1 company was a problem then, we wont exactly repeat that though its still true now that not enough wallet use occurs.

There is the ironic effect of forks, this encourages people to use wallets in order to claim the fork coins.    Ironic because I think this reinforces the BTC protocol by wallet use over these possibly insecure websites that are targeted by virtual thugs.

Also the drop took a long time, the speed of change now is far more rapid.   The main point would be to focus on the protocol not the price changes that occur in speculation of its changes.   I'm bullish on BTC if it fixes its logjam and puts power to transact back with the vast majority of users, serving the many over the few.
9686  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will trade under $5,000, warns Dennis Gartman on: December 31, 2017, 08:18:23 PM
Gartman is also negative of gold appreciation for a long time, he did say he would buy gold by selling YEN.     Hence he is effectively saying if you live in a country with weak currency then you could hold that asset.   I would also include anywhere linked to Dollar and not a net exporter, these are places with weak currency, hold some gold and use BTC or crypto for payments online is a reasonable thing to do

Gurus famously state both opposites in an opinion, so have to be interpreted.   On balance, holding Yen vs BTC is not great long term and anyone who knows Yen knows its a failing currency standard.     If you live in Switzerland maybe be more bearish on BTC because your personal FIAT is a much stronger standard.    Holding all BTC isnt super wise either, stay balanced is the best advice.

Breaking 24777$ prediction game      FINAL LIST

Thanks for running that, is the objective prize for pure kudos basically.    Can i get a gold star :p for an earlier post I speculated 19984 was the top for 2017.  not that I know of course, nobody ever does just on balance of probability and following Fibonacci previous volume, etc and then the news event of Xmas and how that eye of the storm effect means lower interest for that fairly global event or at least for stocks it always has influence.

If stock type movements are again relatable for Jan start then its a kind of rollercoaster start I think, both up and down more sharp gradient possible before we find an eventual direction moving mid Jan to Feb and onto the rest of the year.  Hence my idea of March cycle for 24k though I dont have that number ringed especially.

People always compare BTC to gold when its nothing like the same asset class, I'd say its stocks more as again a stock is inverse to the depreciation of dollar and fear of interest rates, retraction in money supply etc.

kinda off topic

but anyone have an idea on what kind of transaction fee I'd get hit on for a $1,634.00 BTC transaction?

thanks....trying to guess

Not sure if your question is serious, because the fee has nothing to do with the amount you're sending.

It all depends on the number of inputs and outputs, and of course the current mempool situation, and speed you expect.
Most people are lost on the workings of BTC and how to predict important factors like Fees.
I swear this user experience is so important to the ongoing viability for crypto overall, Im bullish on technology which enables the user not just theoretical achievements just being helpful and predictable is a massive bonus.   I agree with the recent posts by the ETH founder and others who state people have lost their way thinking of price, ironic thing to say on price thread but predicting price is looking at the more important factors  then speculators.  Im more bullish when people watch where they walk then staring at the sky
9688  Economy / Gambling / Re: [CSGOBetGuide.com] List Of CSGO Gambling Sites - No Deposit Bonuses & Much more! on: December 31, 2017, 08:12:09 AM
Five different csgo match betting sites is good, I didnt know about all of these and I think there is a few more on top of that as well.   More then I thought total, I might give them a go as I have plenty of skins anyhow.
The CSGO major is to happen during January and my old favourite site went into inactivity unfortunately.
9689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: can gambling give you lessons in life? on: December 31, 2017, 08:02:47 AM
Some people are given a lesson but refuse to learn it and dont value the knowledge they gained because it came at a cost.    Gambling can give lessons but its also very hard to take it as a positive step when losing and inversely less is learnt in victory then defeat or so a famous saying says Smiley

The basic knowledge would along the lines of risk/reward and recognising when a bet is not well timed to gain vs other times
9690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how can we make gambling as an accepted recreational activity like sports game? on: December 31, 2017, 07:57:55 AM
Its not automatically addicting, the main argument against gambling as a sport type is that its actually in its purest form a type of maths.     It would have to be similar to spelling bee type competitions, probability analysis.   I have actually studied this type of mathematics for some years and its a valid subject but not exactly a sport as such.

It would have to be refined into a competitive sport, mental arthritic perhaps but just putting money down by itself isnt a sport exactly.   Poker could be argued as a sport perhaps, there are a few games where its arguable and in addition part of it is betting and not losing bank to other players.

this is an old coin, why a renewed interest now?

Old but gold !    Old is a positive, substitute the words established, time tested well supported and developed Smiley    This is one of the original and best POS coins, I've been staking coins for years since not long after launch.    Its very capable, have a look into www.blackhalo.info  and I also use BLK to buy stuff across the internet, the newer coins are barely on an exchange.
I hope more people will use this coin because it will improve spreads and there is a reciprocal benefit to all users as wallet holders receive the mining fees, stop paying stupidly high amounts just to use crypto.    We the people arent millionaires, its not viable and will fail, you know this.   BLK in effect doesnt even need a graphics card to mine, so overlooked its criminal  Grin

Yes I can confirm thats the case, I will be receiving some of that gas 5000 miles away.  Not personally but our economy needs it as we get high costs 20c or higher; otherwise the alternate is Russia and they hold countries hostage in winter by this gas supply, its not exactly secure.    USA had an energy export ban in place for decades ?   Pretty sure this is a brand new thing but in job terms a positive I guess
9693  Economy / Economics / Re: Does this mean Cash will be extinct? on: December 30, 2017, 07:52:08 AM
Sweden is contemplating to stop using cash by 2023, does this mean cash might be extinct if other countries follow suit?

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2017/10/sweden-could-stop-using-cash-by-2023?utm_content=buffer40bef&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

The majority of dollars are already transmitted digitally and every dollar note made out of cotton costs more then 1 dollar to make so the reality is this is already the true for some time now.   Most money is passed through bank accounts not through cash, every pay packet is used to pay off bills from the previous month where no coins were ever involved.

I like to think the final removal of coins will mean people place value in other objects and perhaps understand the number on a bank account is just a government IOU not a value saved so much.    People might save gold or diamonds instead of cash, but they would have to save to start off and at present most trade debt in the West anyhow
9694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do all Vietnamese people play Dice/Gambling? on: December 30, 2017, 07:45:15 AM
Gambling is big all over asia from what I know, maybe you just found the sites they prefer in particular.   Another factor specific to Vietnam might be the excessive inflation experienced by anyone holding that national currency, hence a more risk accepting attitude perhaps.    Holding onto the money without spending would just mean its wasted in quite a short time to new money printing by the government.
I've heard gold bars are used to buy houses because otherwise the price would vary too much during negotiations and neither party would ever agree on an acceptable deal.   However alot of sums carried by people for cash amount to far less then is worth turning into a gold holding, hence gamble on all or nothing ?    Who knows just a guess why this 1 country might gamble more then others.
9695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel shameful for being a gambler? on: December 30, 2017, 07:28:27 AM
Actually it's embarrassing for me to do gambling instead of in casinos. But when i was in casino, there was no such feeling and i could enjoy the game inside.
Then maybe you are enjoying gambling so much that is why you don't feel anything and its okay to enjoy life even through gambling for as long as you will not use anyone's money or owe someone money for the sake of gambling then everything is okay.

I agree with you. As long as the gambler is not risking anyone elses hard earned money as a debtor or even his own hard earned money fo fulfilling the urge of gambling that has been created due to the addiction that they have built over time, then they are good to go.

The problem arises only when the gambler gets engrossed in the gambling act so badly that it turns into an addiction which is hard to overcome. It leads to bad debts and even in some cases bankruptcy.

That is the problem, some cannot control the urge to gamble and thats where it becomes a shameful thing because they know its something of no benefit and out of control to them.    Same as anything like drinking, most of the time its fine but if you have no choice but to have another drink its a source of shame as you are not able to stop your own losses in money or otherwise.
Most gambling sites include controls to self ban for this reason afaik
9696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No ICO on: December 30, 2017, 07:12:18 AM
80k is possible, it only needs more people to use it and see it as viable, convenient, low cost, efficient all those things.   No dam miner fees and easily faster then most coins should be such an appealing feature right now but its probably going to need a combination of all factors.    Its also better for the earth to use Blackcoin, the power used by Bitcoin is larger then Nigeria as an entire nation of hundreds of millions of people and BTC exceeds them in importance and energy cost somehow?     Its not feasible for that much power to be wasted ongoing when alternatives are available.

As far as the name, Blackcoin is a reference to the tokens or chips handed out in the biggest Las Vegas casinos so far as I know but it might vary between establishments.      I see no negatives in such a simple name, however not everyone has been in a classy casino so it'll vary in peoples perception as does everything.

9697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: VEGA 64 mining FREE WISDOM on: December 29, 2017, 08:46:54 AM
I should whip out a slide here to show all the various Vega types I havent got time to find that but my guess is the 2nd revision of present PC gfx cards will still use HBM2 because that is the superior choice.    However also there is other lesser Vega chips to be released that will cut back on features, will fit into laptops and will be using other memory types.   I also read of Vega to replace rx580 in the end, it would make sense to use the cheapest memory there

dont know the 7nm part is true for vega, navi is.   Just a slide I saw now.  Vega 24 will be a gpu within a Intel cpu apparently
9698  Economy / Economics / Re: If USD falls on: December 29, 2017, 08:43:36 AM
USA the country itself is fine, lots of assets amazing companies, commodities and people but the government the paper printing you mention is the failure of centralised government and politics.   Unfortunately it runs the economy poorly with a constant deficit in place for decades now, the legacy of Richard Nixon is that every president that has followed him has copied his actions by being unable to balance the budget of US Treasury debt and taxes.    The democratic representatives always opt to overspend and print the difference, the rest of the world colludes to allow this so long as political favour is returned.   Such as Japan with 1 trillion in US debt and even communist China support the system of USA dollars as world currency.

If all of this fails, I can only be bullish on a better alternative.   I dont see why bitcoin should be entwined to the fate of dollar, it allows transfers between any nation but at present its failing to support the free flow of all currency so if bitcoin falls its from its own fault not any upset by dollar.    Every pillar must stand by its own support, if BTC is flawed and leaning on a failed dollar deficit system then yes that would suggest failure follows
9699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: VEGA 64 mining FREE WISDOM on: December 29, 2017, 01:12:35 AM
Its no surprise that I can’t find vega’s anywhere  Roll Eyes

Question 1: does anyone know when a new batch is going to hit the market so I can plan accordingly? I’ve emailed a few companies but no one is revealing anything.

Question 2: can I piece together a rig of different 56’s and 64’s? I found a few in single quantities and was thinking about doing 2 64’s and 2 56’s. They would all be different aftermarket models. Would I run into any issues setting these up?

A new batch of AMD Vega cards wont be out until they alter the production to 12nm and revise the overall card spec slightly.   Similar to what was done with 480 and 580.   I have heard the new card would run less power and also less heat, that has some benefits but Im not sure it would be faster overall especially for mining which is just about the memory speed alot of the time and it'll be the same memory so far as I know.

Maybe the summer for those and meanwhile you have the AIB card partners releasing their versions of Vega but these are just fancy versions and not really any use to a miner who doesnt care about noise.

you can mix 56 and 64 from what I've read
9700  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: December 28, 2017, 04:35:06 AM
The gold is fungible, I dont have to carry the brick 10,000 miles across borders.    I sell my gold in one gold store this side of the Atlantic and the gold smith on the other side Atlantic gives that value gold to my creditor.   He doesnt care because its the same value both sides, he only wants to receive the value in the transaction so moving the physical item is not really needed especially.
If neither the seller not creditor are in a state of war, security is feasible and normal in many transactions, I'm not seeing a problem here.  The real war is a kind of cold war on value lost, unstated with unsurfaced consequences.  Venezuela transported their gold physically back home under guard but it did no good as their problem is ongoing policy failures, they neednt have bothered because it all needs to be sold anyway.   The world has ongoing policy failures, value is lost and diverted to government just like Venezuela suffers but not as obviously.

There should be a place for both systems of exchange and I will argue crypto could and should be more convenient, quicker more efficient and cheaper to transact but it really needs to focus on its best properties and let gold do the really long term job of holding value.
Right now crypto has lost its a way a bit, it should not try to be this speculative lump asset.  Its best at very fast transactions, amazing monetary velocity like you say gold can be cumbersome but it is still usable even in this modern digital world.   Im as big a fan of technology as anybody and also the amazing pace of development possible and the way it'll impact society in various ways but gold wont be made redundant, it'll still remain unique and valued in decades.   I dont see it declining like we have seen since Nixon, I expect a rebalance to more use.  Not physical coins because gold is in final settlement not so much everyday exchange but this is a clash of ideas and I appreciate that could appear nonsense to some and counter-intuitive
