So, this is how it goes in the EU...

"Gee this Bitcoin stuff is complex and hard to understand... let's make it illegal"
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/3-members-euro-parliament-call-stricter-bitcoin-controls-prohibit-virtual-currency-exchange-transactions/

What are they thinking?  For what purpose would a politician think making illegal a remarkable new technology, for which most applications are completely unknown?

The very good news is no matter how hard the church or state has tried in the past to suppress science - they've always failed.  I don't even think these laws even slow things down.  Thank god our politicians are so powerless.

You can't generalize here and call all politicians in EU, (or EU as institution), stupid because of statements from a few politicians.
People are not the same and have different characters, opinions, ideas about anything in the world so before you make such judgment listen others and wait for some official decision about this matter.
Or, even better, send to this politicians detailed info about bitcoin and help them to understand this matter better.

Ita becoming clearer by the day u just have to be super

observant of whats happening around you and online!

I don't know where you live but in my part of the world almost nobody know about bitcoin, only a few people.
So, I really don't know, maybe in some parts of the world many more people know and have interest in bitcoin, but I doubt about it.
Bitcoin is still not mainstream so it's to early to say ''The World has become Fixated on Bitcoin''.
Wait a few years and this may become truth.

feel sry for you! i been in the same spot in my life but with sport betting instead of bitcoin mining (gambling) and it sucks :/

You know, I had similar experience with online gambling.
Never, never allow that virtual life take over your real life. Period!
Computer and Internet can't love you, hug you, can't give you real family, friendship, human touch et.
It's illusion, not real.
So, make balance in your life or you will ruin what is the most important in your life, believe me.

And yet, you advertise a gambling site in your signature! Can you see my sig line? It's advertising Gamblers Anonymous, a help line for addicted gamblers. There's help staring people in the face and I bet that link has never been clicked. That's why I have no sympathy for people like the OP. Unlike other diseases, gambling addiction is easy for the infected to spot. They may choose to live in denial but they understand that they have a problem but refuse to get help.

I've had gambling addicted friends and one call to GA fixed their lives. GA has a lot of resources available including financial advisors and bankruptcy legal support. Blaming Bitcoin instead of himself just means he's still sick and needs treatment. Someone needs to slap him in the face and wake him up. It may seem like I've said cruel things to him but I consider what I've said a long distance slap in the face. Click the link and change your life.

Gambling is not illegal and not necessary bad thing, if you can control yourself and not to become addict.
I learned my lesson and now I'm able to find balance between my virtual and real life.
If someone wants to visit gambling sites, they will find it, doesn't matter if I advertise it or not.
People have to learn how to control themselves.

I don't think so.
They made also some mistakes, of course, but, in my opinion, more good things for humankind.
How you want to destroy USA?
Do you think it's fair toward their citizens, average Americans?
Think more about it.

Such things happen to often recently.
USA army should be much more careful in their military actions and avoid such tragic accidents.
Because of such ''mistakes'' many people in that area become negative and don't support USA and West anymore.

Do you think seriously that someone will honestly answer you such question?
In most countries using drugs is serious crime so why anybody will risk here?
It's sure that bitcoin can be used for criminal activity but much more important is that bitcoin can give to each of us financial freedom, anonymity, chance to change life etc.
So, let's focus on positive things here, ok?
9747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't let bitcoin overtake your soul on: December 20, 2015, 02:03:42 PM
It all started for me back in April of 2014.

The following year my girlfriend and I had broken up for a few months because I had become so obsessed with reading about bitcoin and was being neglectful to her needs.

I had promised her that I wouldn't constantly be on my phone reading all the news related to bitcoin and watching the price fluctuations and on July 16th 2014 I asked her to marry me.

I kept my promises to her for a while. Until April 2015 when my miners that I used for solo mining actually found a block.

It was my first time finding one after over a year of trying and seeing 25 coins in my wallet worth almost $6,000.00 was so exhilarating and I felt like I was on cloud 9

I told my fiance about it and for the first time she was happy i had gotten involved into mining bitcoin.

I made a promise never to touch them until we we ready to retire.

A few days later I purchased 1 bitcoin and rented some hashpower and tried my luck at solo mining again.

Before I had spent even 1/4 of that bitcoin I found another block.

Woo hoo! This is easy I told myself.

Of course I told her about it and again she was very pleased.

This time I promised I would only use five coins to try and solo mine another block.

Well I lost the five.

Then more, then more and more and more until I had lost it all.

I couldn't tell her what I had done, couldn't admit that I had turned into a compulsive gambler and threw it all away.

So what did I decide to do?

I took out a home equity loan and borrowed $30,000.00 so I could purchase about 75 coins at the time.

I just knewI had figured out a system and with that many coins I would be able to get back what I had lost and repay my home equity loan.

So from April 2015 until mid December 2015 I tried every method I could come up with to try and outsmart the system.

At times I would spend an average of 1 bitcoin per day assuming it would take me no longer than 25 days to find a block and if I found one earlier then that then obviously I had come out ahead and I would pick a different address to solo mine to. It had to work, how couldn't it. At other times I would rent enough hashpower that I should have found a block within 12 hours.

Well it was quiet a roller coaster. From April of 2015 until mid December of 2015 I would estimate I found at least ten blocks probably more.

But I never could get back to where i started. I would get to the point where I was about to lose it all then I'd find a block.

Then I'd use that one to try and find more. When I was about to lose it all again, I'd find another one.

This process of losing almost everything and then gaining back a little, rinse wash and repeat continued for 8 months.

It was the most stressful time of my life.

All I could think about was getting back what I had lost so I wouldn't have to tell my fiance what I had done.

She felt neglected because I was always swiping my phone to see my new "best share" and to see how close I was to finding another block and a dark cloud followed me everywhere I went.

My negativity and despair showed on my face and she didn't understand why because I couldn't be honest about what I was doing because I was so ashamed.

Every day she would complain how I was always on my phone and not paying any attention to her, and I wanted so bad to just get back what I had lost and give her the attention she wanted and needed.

Long story short. She left me and I lost it all.

The moral of my story is dont let bitcoin take ahold of you like it did me, relationships are what matter and once you lose them you can't get them back.

She's already moved on and found a man that is giving her the attention she needs and I'm lonely, broken hearted and in more debt than I've ever been in, in my life.

I'm sure that Putin like Trump.
He know very well that Trump is not capable enough for such serious position.
So, if Trump, by some miracle, really become US President, Putin will play with him, and do whatever he wants in the world, nobody will be able to stop him.
Trump's victory in election, in this way, also becomes Putin's victory as well.

I think the year 2016 brings good for a lot of bit-coiners.
I will be so happy if the price will gets high in this coming year.
price of bitcoin will surely rise this 2016 because of the incoming halving in some months
who knows we might hit the peak price

I heard the same things for 2015.
2015 will be The year of Bitcoin and price will raise.
It didn't happen.
We can't predict future events, just have hope and faith that bitcoin will eventually make breakthrough and become mainstream.

9751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if BTC was Banned? on: December 19, 2015, 12:38:54 PM
It would be another case of Liberty Reserve where the owner was arrested and the online wallet was banned from the internet resulting in lacs of users losing about thousands of their dollars due to this. The Government here again would try to auction those bitcoins and consider all the money as theirs. Since I lost in LR, I don't want to again lose with BTC.

I don't see how you can compare Liberte reserve and Bitcoin?
Liberte reserve was Internet company, registered under the law, with owners, workers, office etc.
Bitcoin is not company, have no owner, workers, office, only unknown founder and many very happy anonymous users.
What any government can do in such case?
Block Internet?
I don't think so.

UN is to much divided about any possible issue in this world, including Middle East area.
I don't believe they have needed unity to decide anything important or do anything concrete.
I think only Russia and USa have real power and will to do something concrete in Syria and to force local powers to unite and reorganize their country.

9753  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Greece to receive €80m from EU to help house refugees on: December 18, 2015, 10:53:18 PM
Muslim migrants always cost a fortune and provide little in exchange, usually shy of proper work (please, don't name as work sitting in shabby corner shop!) All they do later is never integrate and try to recreate the very Muslim lunacy they had to leave as migrants in their former countries.
Why are you so racist, refugee is a refugee, how do you think will you treated in muslim countries if you were a refugee? This what is doing EU and this help to Greece is a good and human thing and every other country should do the same.

I agree with you.
EU maybe was to slow in their response, maybe they did some strategic mistakes in Syria before, but they really acted in the best possible and human way and helped a lot refugees to survive and EU gave them second chance in their lives.
You generalize Muslim a lot, I know a lot hard working Muslim and also some Christian people which don't like to work.

We will continue to use bitcoin because government can't ban Internet and bitcoin is anonymous, nobody can find your true identity.
So, I don't worry about this point at all.

9755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the global currency of Earth on: December 18, 2015, 10:44:12 PM
Not yet in my opinion but have very good potential to become global currency.
Personally, I believe that soon Bitcoin will become mainstream but we all have to support it and make effort.
When you buy online ask merchants to add bitcoin as payment option, and if they receive many such requests they will accept it.
If you see negative report about bitcoin in media react, send complain etc.
Such small things really can help us to become global currency of Earth Smiley
9756  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS is afraid of women on: December 16, 2015, 03:57:51 PM
I was at Bosnia fighting Muslims 1993-1994 and we had sort of camp for their POW near Mostar (Heliodrom). I was talking with some of them and few Wahhabi extremists told me if they were killed by woman, they dont get those 72 bitches at afterlife. Most of Muslims we fought dont have clue about that so i guess that could be only Wahhabis belief. One of them told me even they dont go to heaven if that happen but i could misunderstand him, he was member of Mujahid brigade (foreign, did not talk local language) and his English was very bad.
I am glad you made it out of that conflict okay.

Basically it looks like the "72 virgins" thing is just one school of thought.

This is interesting, from Slate.com.

http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/recycled/2010/03/honey_im_dead.html

A female suicide bomber detonated a vest filled with explosives at a university in Baghdad Sunday, killing more than 40 people. If male martyrs can expect to find 72 virgin maidens in paradise when they die, what rewards can female suicide bombers expect?

Their husbands. The Quran itself describes little about the specifics of the afterlife, but it does note that believers will find huris, or maidens "of modest gaze, whom neither man nor jinni will have touched before them." (Every believer can end up in heaven; martyrs just get there faster.) Respected commentator Al-Tirmidhi said in a hadith that every man will have six dozen huris in heaven, but very few commentators enumerated the rewards for women. Ninth-century scholar Al-Tabarani did argue that women will be reunited with their husbands in the next world, and those who had multiple husbands can pick the best one to be their eternal spouse. (Other commentators added that a woman who never married can marry any man she wants in paradise.)

From the 9th through the 12th centuries, Muslim scholars described paradise as a place of sensual delights—for men. They debated whether men remained married to their wives in heaven, whether they could have sex with the virgins, and whether the heavenly virgins had anuses. (Some said there was no need for elimination in the afterlife.) There was even disagreement on the number of virgins assigned to each man. While Al-Tirmidhi said it was 72, Mulla Ali Qari, an 11th-century imam, counted 70 virgins and two human wives. Imam Al-Bayhaqi was more generous, granting men 500 wives, 4,000 virgins, and 8,000 previously married women. The meaning of the word hur is also open to interpretation, since it reads as "white raisins" when translated as a Syriac rather than Arabic word.

Women may not get these particular perks, but religious commentaries argue that paradise will make them beautiful, happy, and without jealousy. The fact that they fasted and worshipped Allah during their earthly lives will also make them superior to the virgins, who only exist in heaven. Some modern clerics argue that in heaven, husbands never grow bored of their wives, even with so many huris around. That may explain why some would-be female suicide bombers have spoken of becoming "chief of the 72 virgins, the fairest of the fair."

No wonder Islam is so attractive. Jesus said that in Heaven we will neither marry or be given in marriage, but we will be like the angels. Not very exciting, right?

Smiley

LOL this is really funny Smiley
I can't believe that in such modern world anybody can become so brainwashed to believe in funny stories about 72 virgins in paradise if he die for God.
I think that this people just hate this world, people around them, specially women, because of various reasons, and instead of choosing productive and happy life, finding job, creating family, they just enjoy in killing other people and bringing terror and unhappiness.

9757  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Documentaries: "Murder of Yugoslavia" and "Democracy of Mass Destruction" on: December 16, 2015, 03:51:59 PM
You guys have very simple understanding of this tragedy in former Yugoslavia, everything happened because USA wanted to bring democracy and NATO there. Smiley
I'm from that area and truth is very far from this theory.
In fact, Yugoslavia was together only because of TITO, Communist party (ideology) and army.
Most people didn't like and didn't want this country,m they wanted freedom and national rights.
When Tito died, and Communist party collapsed in 1989, economy also collapsed and it become obvious Yugoslavia can't exist any more, the same like Czechoslovakia or USSR, simple because there was no freedom, national rights or happiness in such isolated and closed communist countries.
We could avoid was if Serb's leader Milosevic could agree with reasonable proposals from Slovenia and Croatia but he choose war over agreement and tried to do genocide in Croatia and Serbia in order to create ''Big Serbia''.
Russian documentary is just one side view about it, but not close to the truth.

9758  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with 1,5 BTC? on: December 16, 2015, 03:40:57 PM
If you trust in BTC keep it for a few years, wait that its value increase and you may become reach.
If you don't trust BTC cash out and use this funds for some other business or invest in something.
It's very simple choice, really Smiley
9759  Other / Archival / Re: Do you think bitcoins will disapear or become unused? on: December 16, 2015, 03:26:11 PM
In 10 years BTC will disappear  or will be the best coin of the world

Satoshi himself said that, well not exactly that but something similar. He i said something like "Bitcoin will be worth nothing or a lot". Im trying to find the exact quote but I can't. It must still be in this forum unless the post got deleted.

I also have the same understanding.
If Bitcoin don't become mainstream in next a few years and its value remain low I think that soon most people will loose interest and just leave, trying to sell as much BTC as they can.
It's human nature that when some new technology or product can't make breakthrough people loose faith and start to look for a next a ''great thing''.

I hope that now other changes will start in this isolated and very closed country like possibility for women to drive cars!
They still have a very long way to pass but at least they finally started.
