lets see a nice short liquidation cascade!

Can anyone make an educated guess at what point the shorts could get liquidated?

I'd think it would be alot higher than this, but I have no idea how to properly calculate

982  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 20, 2014, 08:34:07 AM
Does anyone have an explanation on who keeps lending fresh BTC on bitfinex for those shorts?

An interest rate of 0.0055 %/day (2% annual) doesn't seem worth the risk to me.

after BTC swaps shot to 8k BTC, an hour ago there was only miniscule amount available. Now there's again ~ 1000 BTC available to borrow at flash rate of 0.0055 %/day. wtf. who in his right mind is doing this???

wild theory: maybe those are just finexBTC being lent?

Perhaps a large market maker who doesn't mind throwing around 100s or 1000s of BTC simply to provide liquidity at all times

A few candidates come to mind:

Tim Draper
Circle
Keiser/Exante
Winklevoss

Is the price going UP?

BTCChina, OKcoin and Huobi are all reaching daily highs while the western exchanges have lagged behind.

$500 on Stamp and BFX incoming!!  Cool

Is there anyone working on Phyical Monero's similar to Casascius Bitcoins or Lealana Litecoin?

I could see a project like this really solidifying our position in the altcoin race (if done well)

sidenote: XMR is gunning for .0035 and I've never seen the ask side of the orderbook so thin! Cool

Fairly large dumps on bitstamp

Watching $480 closely here...considering the bullish crossovers it should hold

Getting tested right now, lol

yup lol

I think this is the test! 470-480 Wink

TL:DR Having Senior Members + who have been here awhile, who are constructive and well versed on many topics here, and who are usually looking to help people is a lot better than having tons of Jr members and Full members going around with a PD signature. It is better OPTICS for Sr. Member + to have it.

+10000, quality Senior posters will give a good image to Primedice. I hope I make the cut!

Price & Hash Rate rising very nicely together...

100+ satoshi will be here sooner than many expect!

Please send your feature requests for the duckNote wallet. Next function we are working on, besides small fixes is a mining inside wallet. If you have any requests, please, do not be shy D<

A quick and easy "mining button" would be a nice feature for those who arent technical.

Something similar to Bitminter comes to mind...I only say this because I use to mine, although I had no idea how to do terminal config.

If we can get mining easily into the hands of people XDN will be a huge hit  Smiley

992  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price manipulated today! proof on BTC-E check out time stamps on: August 19, 2014, 02:11:55 AM
i noticed on https://btc-e.com/ that all coins are dump at 15:30 time stamp. check each coin and see how coins bounced around. very suspicious. stolen coins perhaps? whale taking massive dump?

hope they using charmin.

very unfortunate that one person can cause this to happen, hopefully we do not see more of this type of thing for a little while

thanks.

It looks to me like a margin call on longs.

when Bitfinex dropped to 450 a few days ago there was a margin call on longs and I think the same thing is happening here on btc-e.

Historically a good time buy after longs get squeezed as sell pressure should be evaporated  Wink

I have a very rough, sketchy understanding of what longs are, but what's a margin call?

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/m/margincall.asp

Basically a margin call on long positions will happen if the price hits the "break-even" point of said longs.

Their positions needs to be liquidated because if the price went any lower it would be impossible to pay off their margin positions

Huge 462.9 hidden bid at Finex. Hundreds of coins bought so far.

Good eye dude!

*funky sighs a breath of relief

Seems there is also a hidden ask wall.

only 30-40 sold so far though. Bidder bought around 1k at 462.9.

How can there be a hidden ask wall seeing as BFX is at 464 now?

LTC has survived the fall!

Even if it got dumped down to $1 it would still survive.

When everyone is fearful, its time to be greedy  Cool
