Or get a money transmitter license - I am tempted but from what I have seen its brutal to do.

I'm sure it has to be, its definitely the bain to a crypto coin makers existence to scale, i'm sure!

Yes, getting an MSB for all 50 states plus internationally seems like it would take a lot of time and money and a lot of red-tape ....

How much time and money we talking? What would it actually take to make that a reality?

There is an interview of him with Charlie Shrem on Youtube which I saw today by chance:

Casascius Coin Creator Mike Caldwell on making Bitcoin meaningful for the masses

Really exciting and worthwhile, especially because you can find but few interviews of this kind from him. It is already three years old but maybe it pleases the one or the other still Smiley
Let me know what you think of it.

I've listened to this interview before, but that was a great refresher! Its evident that Mike wouldn't be inclined to do any loaded BTC, due to his flawless reputation and that is very wise. I think the DIY themed coins would be incredible though, particularly  gold, silver, and copper varieties.

Congrats to the winners!! Thanks Frank for the awesome raffle!! Looking forward to hopefully being able to add these beauties later on!!

If there is interest, I will maybe do a small "batch" (2nd print of 10) only slightly different of the 2 test prints and the 3 "original" (The "framing" of the back is not perfect). As I used the thread of YodasRedRocket for the back, he should get one too.

I am definitely interested! Please put me down for one Cheesy

If he wanted to. But he wouldn't, why would he now? He could actually apply for all the licenses and register at the federal level and absolutely CRUSHHHHHHH it.

From Wiki: "Suspension of sale of Casascius Physical Bitcoins
As of Nov 27, 2013, Mike Caldwell suspended sales of items that contain digital bitcoins.[1] The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a branch of the Treasury Department, informed him before, that minting physical bitcoins qualifies him as a money transmitter business, which means he needs to register at the federal level and probably get state licenses too.[3]"

All i'm saying is that it would be really cool, but he would never do it. Would be absolutely insane though I mean could you imagine the coins that he would make today?

Any who, if they went after Mike then who is to say that they would never go after another coin maker and make them abide by the same thing that shut him down?

Ohhh I like this that sounds fun. Why then don't we just take it back to the basics and prescribe each card with silver and gold grams imbedded into the artwork? I love Valcambi. Valambi Icarus has a nice ring to it doesn't it! Gold and silver grams also hold value and could be a great way to bring crypto and precious metals together under one card, maybe down the road could add in DIY key generation somehow or maybe have another solution for the loading of any crypto value to this new card venture. Any who I thought it would be fun to chime in with that. Can get creative with it, even get some metals exchanges involved?!
993  Economy / Collectibles / Will trade for redeemed cold key cards on: January 18, 2023, 03:46:00 PM
Hey guys,

Despite all of this negative ish with Yogg etc, i still think the collection has collectible value from the artwork, and for that reason I am interested in trading for the bitcoin halving cards, etc. The cards can be redeemed idc. Whatever you have and are willing to trade for i'm sure we can work out some sort of deal. Lmk!

I am deeply sorry for all of you who have lost considerable amounts of money on this, I am terribly sorry. Maybe I can help to soften the blow by a fun trade? We shall see. Looking forward to hearing from you, please feel free to send me a PM with links to images.

Cheers,

you are nuts

point one:
there was a fork... you know it so dont sniff gas and pretend im the one messing with your head.. just stop sniffing your own gas

i never claimed bch was bitcoin. soo stop listening to doomad as its him putting words in your head about what he thinks i am saying thus confusing you when i then correct your dialogue of what you believe was said

here is a little tip.. take a few month break away from the buddy group/. spend some time doing some proper research independently and sort out your head becasue if you are crying that you are suffering mental issues. go sort them out

i keep telling you to do your own research away from anything i or doomad have to say.. that way you can actually learn and not be spoonfed and then you cant cry about your gas indued mental issues

So go research

point two:
you want to make a point of a chart that after waiting weeks after a congestion event you then present there is no congestion..
the congestion was in november.. and it did happen

your attempts of deception is like me saying its christmas week and christmas is this weekend.. so you wait until january 5th jsut to say:
"its not christmas week' there was no christmas, christmas is a myth, stop gaslighting me about christmas. i dont see any santa or christmas trees or tinsil. so christmas isnt real"

Christmas is very real my friend. CHRIST is real.

Could you imagine if like Yogg was on his deathbed or something and needed an operation to pay for it all and the only way to save his own life was to steal all this money from everyone and to never look back? Idk, I know he had health issues. The only thing I can think is that nobody could be this heartless to everyone if they didn't desperately need it. If they didn't and they just stole then they're just an asshole but part of me thinks that there is so much more to this story. I just wish Yogg has the balls the send the last message. Whether it be that he screwed everyone or was desperate I just wish we knew. The truth remains to be seen.

What a huge blow to the bitcoin community. I just always had a feeling that Yogg had too many excuses for everything and had a weird feeling about collecting his stuff, albeit I loved the art. I waited for almost a year for the first 3 cards in the history series, I'm really glad I moved all of those. All I have left is a genesis cold key, and actually a very unique 1/1 genesis cold key card with a special cartoon of a girl holding a bitcoin and a vanity address that Yogg made to include my daughters name on it, which he gave to me. All I can say is that I think that deep down he is a good person, but it could very well have been his plot all along, or perhaps there is a very wild story behind all of this and he was in trouble or something. Whatever it may be I suspect that we will never find out what happens & it will always be a mystery. Will be interesting to see how many of these cards are redeemed and funds stolen when all is said and done. I wonder how much BTC is in cold keys if you add them all up.....

1000  Economy / Gambling discussion / Stealing from the IRS- Talk about a Gamble! Regulatory scrutiny for crypto mixer on: January 09, 2023, 09:35:18 PM

Now I just came across this article: https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2023/01/06/brother-of-criminal-bitcoin-mixing-ceo-pleads-guilty-to-stealing-712-bitcoins-from-irs/

Gary Harmon has got some serious balls sneaking his brother's Helix wallet recovery seed to get access to IRS seized funds from his brothers crypto mixing service, Helix. Did he think that he wouldn't get caught by the IRS? Here is a small snippet from the Coindesk article below:

"An Ohio family now has not one but two felons facing potentially lengthy prison sentences for crypto-related crimes.
Cleveland man Gary Harmon, 31, pleaded guilty to one count each of wire fraud and obstruction of justice on Friday for stealing 712 bitcoins from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The bitcoins had been seized by law enforcement from Harmon’s older brother, Larry Harmon – the CEO of darknet crypto mixing service Helix – after his 2020 arrest.
Larry Harmon pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to launder monetary instruments in August 2021. He was ordered to pay a $60 million civil penalty by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). The elder Harmon has not yet been sentenced – as part of his plea agreement, he was required to forfeit his ill-gotten gains as well as turn government informant. According to his lawyers, his cooperation is “active and ongoing.”
But while Larry was cooperating with the government, his younger brother – who was formerly employed by one of Larry’s companies, Coin Ninja – was stealing from it, pilfering crypto from Larry’s forfeited wallets.
According to a newly released memorandum filed by prosecutors in August 2021, Gary Harmon used recovery seed words to recreate numerous wallets that belonged to his brother. In April 2020, he made a series of eight transfers from Larry’s forfeited wallets – Trezor wallets being held in an IRS storage locker – to his own wallets. In total, the younger Harmon brother purloined a total of 712 bitcoins from the IRS – at the time, worth $5.4 million.
Prosecutors said that Gary initially vehemently denied draining his brother’s wallets, even when presented with evidence that he had done so."

You guys might remember when this all went down with Helix in 2021. This article lays out the sentence for Larry Harmon: https://www.wsj.com/articles/operator-of-helix-bitcoin-mixer-pleads-guilty-11629328791

Here is a highlight from that article:

"Mr. Harmon’s case is one of the first involving a cryptocurrency mixer that has resulted in a conviction, according to Ari Redbord, a former assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia and a former senior adviser at Treasury. The guilty plea shows U.S. law enforcement is pursuing cryptocurrency mixers with connections to the Darknet and illicit activities, while the transparency of blockchain enables them to trace the funds.

“The nature of cryptocurrency is to allow law enforcement to have unique visibility on financial flow where they never had before,” comparing it to government-issued fiat currency, said Mr. Redbord, who is now head of legal and government affairs at TRM Labs Inc., a digital currency tracing firm."

Chip mixer websites out there are currently being watched and tracked for illicit activity showing links to human trafficking, drugs, money laundering etc. They are being watched now more than ever before, as many of the folks on this forum are peddling adds through signature campaigns linked to chip mixers and online casinos it does make you wonder how many of these companies have links to these types of services that the IRS is watching for.

I feel like being anonymous in crypto is virtually impossible for the most part. They should change the name from "paper trail" to "blockchain trail" or something when it comes to crypto because there will always be some sort of trail publicly available to follow the funds, even with a chip mixer. Can someone explain to me how chip mixers work? I still don't fully understand this. And do most chip mixers also have some sort of casino or games along with their mixing service or is it generally separate?
