What is this all about? people arguing about darkcoin on coindesk!!!! It's a non-factual claim. The figure is about 2%. I honestly wish people could let the coins compete on the quality of their features & implementations rather than manufacturing FUD. Yes, it's also sort of stupid to complain about having a somewhat larger supply up front - if you mine at the same rate the entire time, you will probably never reach critical trading mass in time for it to actually be useful. 2% is a reasonable amount to mine in the first few days so that there will be enough initial supply for everyone to have a part of it. More important is how it was mined: Everyone who wanted to mine at launch could - anyone, not just devs and their friends. It makes a big difference. Even with the rapid mining at the beginning (which I might add was planned and announced), the distribution of coins was fair. And for the record, I was about a week behind that, so I actually didn't benefit that much from the initial mining. Also, with those that mined and then sold (dumped). they help out the coin the most by spreading the coin around. More people can get involved that way. It's actually harmful that we all hoard our coins!! (GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF MY STASH YOU!) LOL Edited, 'cause I wrote it badly

I have a friend who's in an abusive relationship. She's been saving money to start a new life as far away from that pos as she can get. Problem is, the little she has can't be stored in her bank account because he has access. Even if she could deposit it, she has to account for every penny to him, so she wouldn't be able to spend it.
Now imagine her being able to transact purchases and make transfers completely anonymously, without having to leave her home or raise suspicion. To her, THAT'S the promise of Darkcoin. And that's why she's invested.
If you think the "dark" part of Darkcoin will only benefit people who want to do something illegal, then yours is a crisis of imagination.
Get that girl out of there NOW Geepers! But yah, if darkcoin saves her, Thank GOD!

That's entirely subjective. Darkness hides things and some things are not for the seeing.
Anonymity and darkness share this quality.
Some people are in fear of anonymity. To them it means lawlessness, lack of accountability and anarchy. These people are ants. We are grasshoppers.
I LOVE THIS! Are you a Kung Fu tv show fan? LOL

And having a safe way to conduct transactions is a good thing. The very illegality of those things are what makes them so bad. These is nothing intrinsically bad about drugs, but having made them illegal drives up risk HUGELY, and with that comes violent crime, bad quality, filled up prisons, war e.tc.
Having a safer way to conduct business drives down risk and that is good for everyone, except those who profit from the fear mongering and the steady stream of new inmates.
I'm sort of a libertarian, so I do mostly agree with what you're saying, however I do think non medicinal drugs are generally bad. But I believe this should be countered with education and awareness.

The name DarkCoin already implies where it may be used best imo
You can twist any name the way you see fit. When we came up with the name, we were thinking of how it kept outsiders "in the dark" or in other words, that you couldn't see what should be private. Maybe we were all naïve, actually some did point out that it could be interpreted that way, but we thought people wouldn't be so stupid.... LOL, we were wrong

Ok, that might be true.
Just frightening to think about selling and buying humans, organs, drugs etc. with Darkcoin on the internet, not to mention all the scams that will be easily pulled off with Darkcoin.
I've finally accepted the fact that the world is an ugly place and I simply have to protect my family from it as best I can. On the other hand, there are beautiful places in this world, where you will find good, kind, thoughtful, funny people with all the reasons for living. You simply have to make the choice. Nobody, not the government, not the police, and ultimately, not even your parents can do that for you.

DarkCoin is a brand, its technology is another thing. If you don't post that it does NOT endorse illegal activity, people are going to connect this brand with Silkroad etc. which is not favourable
The first time you use the wallet, you must agree to this. It's not really binding and there is no enforcement, but it takes a stand.

Bitcoin's block chain is enough for me personally. Nobody can track my address to my name.
If you think that is enough, then use that. Some people think HTTP is secure enough, others use HTTPS. Some people think having a password like hello123 is enough, others use a more secure password. Jungian - EXCELLENT answer imho. I like the references you gave VERY much. I think this should be copy/pasted into the darkcoin.io website FAQ Also MUST post that DarkSend/DarkCoin does not endorse illegal activity since it won't be accepted by governments, it needs some disclaimer What can a government do about crypto currency? Nothing! They just want to figure out how they can tax it, but they can't. Not until it's converted to fiat currency. No matter what hot air any of the politicians blow, they're ultimately impotent and that's exactly how it should be and why crypto currency exists. with regards to money laundering, there are laws already in place. Fiat Exchanges must keep track of who their customers are. All the laws needed are already in place. What cryptos bring to the table is nothing new, we've always had cash and cash has done a great job enabling crime. Giving up my privacy will not help the government keep us any "safer" (Yah right)

What for exactly? Bitcoin's block chain is enough for me personally. Nobody can track my address to my name.
Maybe not for now if you haven't done any transfers where your name could be linked to, you always use tor and throw away emails and prepaid wireless connections etc. But for example if you have sent BTC to an exchange that requires your real info, or sometime in the future pay with BTC on paypal or buy stuff by mail order where you give your name/address, then potentially all your financial history could be solved down to the first transaction you ever made. All it really needs is one slip. you could actually say that, bitcoins is the equelent of debit card, trace able while darkcoin is the digital form of cash, untraceable Even a debit card affords you some privacy. What outside source can find out about how you spend your money except if your account is hacked or statements stolen from the mailbox. With most of these altcoins, you can be completely spied upon. Granted, I'm a nobody with very little money and I'm not interesting, yet the thought of being "seen" freaks me out!

wearing that T-Shirt means being in favour of Silkroad and other shady stuff? Why not justa agree that it shows your pro-darkcoin stance, and leave it at that? Ok, I see. What is the purpose of DarkCoin, how will u use its DarkSend? What for, exactly? Anonymous transfer of money. What for exactly? Bitcoin's block chain is enough for me personally. Nobody can track my address to my name. Granted if I wanted to launder money, buy illegal substances etc., I'd use DarkSend That's great that it's enough for you, its not enough for me. This product may not be for you, some of us really want our privacy.

I have a personal need to be private and don't want people to snoop around my checkbook. I have never done drugs, have always been a terrible lightweight with alcohol, so only can take about a glass of wine at dinner sometimes, no more. I have an excellent driving record. I'm a non-judgmental goodie two shoe. I'll never turn darksend off because I don't want my transactions seen period!

Ive been on p2p since starting mining drkcoin. Payouts for my 13mhs fluctuate between 10-30 coins per day. If the non p2p pools shut down we would not have so much miner jumping movement in difficulty and rewards.
How's that? I don't understand? Oh, I think I understand! Pools are easier to hop into and out of than a P2pool? Or, bots jump in easier during low difficulties?

I just had an idea! I can understand wanting to mine at Coinmine.Pl, they are apparently very stable, and having so much of the hash, you find more blocks more often (though your payments are smaller) Anyway, if everyone would just leave half of their hash power at Coinmine.pl, and put the other half in another pool ( http://lotterymining.com has been SUPER stable as well) then you can have a steady pouring in of funds, if that's what you l like to see, yet spread your hash around. It won't cost you more, it won't cost you in rewards, it'll all come out the same in the wash. Please consider doing this, if half the community took half their hash to another pool, we'd have things at a much safer level. Thanks

|
Hey everyone, coinmine.pl has over 50% of the hash again, could some of you please move to another pool or P2pool for the coin's sake?
Also, I've notices all evening that my hash rate is way lower on average than it has been. I mean the hash at my pool, which I assume is more accurate and based on how many hashes are accepted over time. Anyway, could there be a reason for this that I can fix?
Ah well, my old equipment is certainly getting to the end of it's usefulness on mining dark, LOL. Good news is when that happens, I'll have my gaming stuff back, RoFL

Going to put a run of these together if there's enough interest. If I get 15 orders I can get these to US residents for $23usd (payable in BTC or DRK, can use Moolah for Escrow), non-us residents we just need to figure out a shipping surcharge. Sizes are up to 4xl If you want in, shoot me a PM or email me at my handle name @ cointrepid.com EDIT: Design updated to include website text Put me in for 2 x XL. I know what I'm giving for birthday presents next month It would be awesome if we got some coins minted soon, too. Did we ever decide on a final design? I've have a company that I regularly use to make commemorative coins that I could get a quote from, if nothing else. Would you mind sending a PM to make it official? For BCT users i'll be replying requesting payment/shipping info once we hit the threshold. Preemptive Happy Birthday! I'm getting myself one too using the same excuse Oh, please clarify if thats two XL shirts or a single 2XL shirt... or two 2XL shirts, lol. Thanks! I just love this, and wish I could join with you all, but I took the last of my cash to buy dark, and I'm not going to spend it until it's worth something, but it's an awesome idea!
Such as life as a crypto junkie . You're around quite regularly, I'll make a note drop you a line last minute before the order just in case things change Not even 3 months and I'm a junky, this is sad... I think... then again, if I get rich, LOL? ok we'll see!

I was contacted by MintPal, asking if we were interested in adding more markets, trades with other coins. I said sure we would be interested in any or all coins.
The next message asked for money to do it, I told them to nevermind, it was their loss.
They got upset and said they were taking DRK off their exchange.
They really had no volume, not its not a huge loss. Just sux that people are like that.
Ok, it seems maybe there is another account that is impersonating them. @MintPalExchanqe vs @MintPalExchange Its odd because the firstone actually has more followers than the second, which seems to be the correct one. I am contacting them directly Man, there are scammers everywhere, and they come from all sides! Good you noticed and can tell them!
