981  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Zeal | a new competitor to other cryptocurrency wallets? on: November 23, 2023, 04:11:26 AM
Although we need to first see this released before we can judge it but with the available information I wouldn't even categorize it as a "cryptocurrency wallet". It is more like a centralized service where you create an "account" and give up all control over your own money to this company that just popped up out of nowhere and trust them with it.
So if anything it should be compared with its counterparts such as coinbase accounts or centralized exchange accounts!
982  Economy / Economics / Re: Energy Crisis 2.0 in the New World Order era on: November 22, 2023, 03:24:45 PM
instead they will do a proxy counter through hizbullah, huthi and other militant groups in that region.
These aren't militia or militant groups. These are part and parcel of these countries. For example Hezbollah is part of the Lebanese government and also part of the armed forces of Lebanon. Just like how US has army, marine corps, navy, etc.
Same with Yemen, Ansarollah is part and parcel of Yemen and its government. It is not just Houthis by the way, Houthis are only a portion of the Ansarollah.

Hamas is a excuse to show Israel's genocide as a novel cause.
That's like saying Zbroini syly Ukrayiny is an excuse to show Russians invasion of Ukraine as a novel cause.
Armed forces are there to protect people and fight against invaders.

It is interesting to point out that all these 3 movements were formed after their respective countries were invaded by foreign forces and most of their soil were occupied since their "old armies" were useless against invaders. They were formed to defend their homes and take back their soil.

P.S. It is even more interesting to point out that Hamas is like the democratically elected government as they've won the election for the Palestinian Legislative Council by the majority vote and have the most number of seats in the PLC.
983  Economy / Economics / Re: Energy Crisis 2.0 in the New World Order era on: November 22, 2023, 02:33:20 PM
Israel or palestine none of these countries is an oil producer in the world. How will their conflict affect the oil price if other arab countries do not join the war?
Generally speaking any tensions in a energy rich region affects the prices as we've already seen it in the market that it caused "volatility". Luckily the conflict was kept inside the occupied Palestine and it did not enter next phase to have the biggest impact on the price.

The next phase (that fortunately didn't happen) would have been the conflict region growing in size and specifically reaching the seas (Red Sea and the Persian Gulf) which would have shot the energy price to the moon.
Basically ever since the commandoes of armed forces of Yemen seized the Israeli ship that was sailing under the protection of US navy and US did not dare respond, it changed the face of the conflict. In fact it was the last straw that led to the cease fire planned to start tomorrow 10 AM.

This new war front in the middle east is geopolitical, and there are small chances that other arab countries will join the war directly to protect hamas or the people of Gaza.
It depends on what "Arab countries" you are talking about. If it is the occupied colonies like Saudi Arabia, nobody expected them to do anything other than what US orders. Otherwise Lebanon and Syria as the closest ones and Yemen as the farthest one have been directly involved.

And at the heart of it, this war is not geopolitical. It is crime against humanity since it is categorized as ethnic cleansing or a genocide.

What you are trying to draw doesn't make sense because Hamas and Israel have been fighting for a long time.
To be clear this is not a war between Hamas and Israel, it is a genocide committed by the Zionist regime against the people of Palestine.

they operate binance.us and to fully say cz has zero to do with binance.us was likely impossible. thus the us went after them.
They started binance.us as a separate thing to avoid problems such as this. Apparently that didn't work as well as they hoped.

Quote
I always wonder why they would operate binance.us as it would tie them into usa taw rules.
Because US market is always a good revenue from a business perspective. The population is high and so is the number of potential customers.

Did they just throw this randomly in the mix Cheesy
Binance doesn't accept anyone from Iran and also considering that it has a strict KYC policy there is no way to circumvent that either.
They just did not mention when the violation happened. If they counted it since Binance birthday in 2017 and a few years later before the exchange required KYC on their users, it is very possible that there are users from Iran or other sanctioned countries, locations used Binance and laundered their criminal money through cryptocurrencies and Binance.

They only started to do KYC since 2021
How KYC Helps Keep Users Safe in the EEA & UK
I suppose that could be the reason but at the same time pre KYC could also mean pre regulation of their business and anything done before that isn't exactly breaking any laws. Specially since as far as I know Binance never had any headquarters inside United States so they are not exactly subject to US laws.

users from Iran or other sanctioned countries, locations used Binance and laundered their criminal money through cryptocurrencies and Binance.
Just because someone is from a sanctioned country doesn't mean they own "criminal money" and want to "launder" it Smiley

BTW providing service to users from sanctioned countries is not counted as money laundering. It is counted as breaking US sanctions and would subject the business to sanctions or fines.

987  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to see the whale transaction? on: November 22, 2023, 05:03:19 AM
All the tools, twitter accounts, websites, etc. that are created to alert people of a big move are biased. In fact many of them are created to try and manipulate the market so they report what they want, when they want. For example if they wish to see price drop you will see them report a lot of such transactions. They are not that effective in market manipulation though.

If you want solid statistical information (not useful or trading as I said above) you should look at the blockchain itself. For example the blockchair transaction page lets you filter and sort transactions based on a lot of variables.
For example if you want to see transactions transferring amounts bigger than 100BTC, you just set the output value to "From 100" and see the list:
https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transactions?s=time(desc)&q=output_total(10000000000..)
Or a 1000
https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transactions?s=time(desc)&q=output_total(100000000000..)

You can see a lot of these transactions are not reported by those tools when it doesn't suite their agenda!
988  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex is Closing Down on: November 22, 2023, 04:48:51 AM
what was once the largest and most respected crypto exchange has
It was neither large nor respected anymore, at least not since 2017. It was also bankrupt for the past couple of years, they just kept it alive artificially and by scamming their users.
You can see the trust summary of their representative on bitcointalk here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=96390
You can also read my topic on how they stole a lot of money from their users overnight: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2406054.0

Basically in early 2017 they lost the competition to up and coming platforms like Binance. So they decided to start scamming to make some money. From there they lost all their revenue and users slowly but surely.
I'm honestly surprised they kept their scam business alive this long.
989  Economy / Economics / Re: Energy Crisis 2.0 in the New World Order era on: November 22, 2023, 04:32:02 AM
But where is the fantastic 243 billion dollars for Ukraine, and in ten days?
The propaganda and mouthpieces you shared from Russia, Ukraine, US, etc. are all repeating the official statements not the actual total value. The official statements also only include the total value they needed to take out of their budgets.
But if you follow open source intelligence sources (easily found on the internet) there are a lot of solid proof of the actual amount that is being sent to Ukraine. Some of which is also mentioned in the news as some article that you'd normally skip and won't be counted in statistics.
For example what the American mouthpiece NYT says here is a tiny portion of a couple of billion dollars worth of weapons and ammunition (a lot more than just some shells) being sent to Ukraine which is not counted in any statistics they report as total.

As for the time frame, again just check the news. For example last year Pentagon stated that there are 8-10 flights a day sending arms to Ukraine. These days sometimes that amount is barely any shipments in a week. Even the recent statements by EU politicians says that they can no longer provide aid to Ukraine in the promised timeframes and now it would take months before they can send certain things like shells for example. Like Germany that is promising delivery in 4-5 months from now!!!
990  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Fair and unbiased coins have a bias to land on the same side they started on: November 22, 2023, 04:01:08 AM
Didn't they just prove the exact opposite?
Theoretically an unbiased scenario would be if the coin had a 50% chance of landing on the same side. They proved there is 51% chance for that. Correct me if I'm wrong but I wouldn't call 1% in a rather small batch with a lot of other variables to be the bias. It looks more like the negligible error (ie. 50% ± 1%).

The total number of coin flips was 350,757
Wow. I can't imagine the boredom. Must be killing.

But it seems everyone who perform coin toss is included as author of the research, so it's motivation if they need to fill work/research experience on their CV/resume Roll Eyes.
It is not worth it since at the end of the study your thumb would stop working Smiley
991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Why haven't the earliest participants sold their Bitcoin, and some haven't even on: November 21, 2023, 02:12:55 PM
You have to realize that someone who started early doesn't only have one address (or a bunch of addresses they used in early days), they can have a lot of addresses and a lot of coins that they acquired over the years in those different addresses. For example someone could have acquired 50BTC in 2010, 20 in 2012, 5 in 2017, and 1 in 2020.
If they wanted to sell 1 bitcoin, they don't have to spend the 50BTC they got in 2010, they can sell the 1BTC they got in 2020.

That's what I do anyway. I don't have nearly as much as the examples I gave and I was only around since 2014 but if I want to sell some coins I sell the newest coins I have "acquired" (could be bought or earned for work or as profit). That way the coins I have form early days and the ones in my cold storage remain intact.
992  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Send hospital ships to Gaza on: November 21, 2023, 01:59:14 PM
Its painful to see how Arab countries including Hizabullah and Iran have left Gaza at mercy of Israel.
You mean except Iran and its allies. Hezbollah alone has already dropped at least 1000 missiles on Israeli positions and that's according to Israeli sources, in reality it is much higher. If you follow their channels there is daily updates. This is one example of their operation yesterday: https://www.aparat.com/v/Xd8DK

As for Iran, I don't even have to explain. It is the most obvious thing that Iran is the only country that has truly supported the Palestinian cause ever since the revolution on 1979. Back then the Palestinians were using stones to counter the invaders' tanks, today they use Yasin-105 to blow up over 300 of them like a piece of cake.
If you were expecting Iran to launch a ground attack at this stage, it is not gonna happen because it will start WW3.

If you want to direct any blame then look to Turkey that is still supplying fuel and goods to Israel helping them bomb children in Gaza. Look to UAE and Saudi Arabia that are constantly sending weapons shipment to Israel to be used for genocide. Look to Jordan, Egypt and Saudi that are providing air defense for the apartheid regime each time Yemen attacks their positions.

993  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Argentina Be The Next El Salvador To Accept Bitcoin As Legal Tender? on: November 21, 2023, 01:24:30 PM
So I checked him out and surprise surprise he is not exactly a politician! Although he has more experience than Zelensky I'd call him Zelensky 2.0, someone who has little to no understanding of politics but has risen to power taking control of a country and ruining it in his term. Everything he says is quite radical, it is not just about accepting bitcoin as legal tender, he wants to shut down the country's banking system and practically all control the government has on the economy!!!

If that weren't enough, he wants to sever ties with all Argentina's neighbors and specifically with BRICS! This in both short term and long term could devastate Argentina's economy. Specially when there is a $10 billion deficit and almost $300 billion in external debt that the country has to pay as the interest rates keep on rising!!!
That is all on top of 120-130% inflation rate.

I honestly hope they don't accept bitcoin as legal tender because if they do, we are going to continue having to debunk the FUD that this decision ruined economy of Argentina...
994  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Is bigger block capacity still a taboo? on: November 21, 2023, 04:38:02 AM
Also note what happened with ETH: they did a hard-fork, and the community splitted into ETH and ETC. Here, it could be the same outcome, but there is no guarantee, that the "core coded" version would have the same fate as ETH, and not ETC. It is unknown, until it happens, but then it is too late to change sides.
Lets never use centralized shitcoins as examples when it comes to discussing bitcoin. Things are very different. And by the way Ether guys didn't just do a hard-fork, they rolled back blocks which means they targeted a fundamental principle of cryptocurrencies which is their immutable blockchain which is why part of the network decided to stick to immutability (ie. ETC).
995  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Argentina Be The Next El Salvador To Accept Bitcoin As Legal Tender? on: November 21, 2023, 04:09:19 AM
Milley sees Bitcoin as a transformative solution to improve her standard of living in Argentina. He envisions it as a way to return control of money to the private sector. Milley sees the decentralized nature of Bitcoin as the right way out of the centralized control exercised by Argentina's traditional financial institutions, including the central bank.
That is crazy talk. Bitcoin is not some magic money that can solve economic problems like this and improve standard of living! Specially because of its volatile nature it is not even ready to do such a thing at this stage.

Seriously, politicians should start consulting with actual economy experts and start actually solving the issues in their economy instead of trying to look for some "magical way" to make the problems go away.

BTW in case of El Salvador, they didn't improve their economy by adopting bitcoin as legal tender. They did it by a lot of work in the financial sector, attracting foreign investors, easing laws for financial institutions, battled corruption and crime in the country, ... and a lot more.
996  Economy / Economics / Re: Energy Crisis 2.0 in the New World Order era on: November 21, 2023, 03:46:23 AM
Ukraine is receiving military aid, but in very small quantities so far.
You mean from now on (not so far). Because the total of more than $243 billion aid in shipments that reached Ukraine in less than 10 days is not considered small quantities. Although from now on since US decided to send all that aid to the terrorist organization murdering kids in Palestine, the shipments would reach Ukraine in 30-40 days.

Besides, who is Ukraine at war with now, if Iran is providing military assistance to Russia,
It's funny that people are still repeating this old and already debunked propaganda Cheesy
It is even funnier that they still think Iran's military assistance is some old Shahed136 drones. If you want to know how it looks like just check out Yemen that has gone from the poorest Arab country with only some AK47s to fight with, to the number 2 missile power in the world (after Iran) and has a military that is stronger and more modern than half of NATO members.

the entire West has also pledged to supply Ukraine with a million shells, but deliveries are delayed because it is difficult for them to collect even that many of them.
Wrong. The delay is because all the production is being sent to the apartheid Zionist regime occupying Palestine so that they can murder more women and children. So they can no longer send the same amount in the same timeframes to Ukraine as before.

The fact is that, for example, Western developed countries are categorically against the use [of WMDs]
Yeah it was an Eastern underdeveloped country that dropped two nukes on Japan or used nuclear munitions in Iraq, dropped the MOAB in Afghanistan or is currently using chemical weapons in Palestine Cheesy
The Western "developed" and "democratic" and "human right loving" countries have never done such things.
/end of sarcasm
Let's talk about the victims of the USSR/Russia without nuclear weapons,
I call that progress that you have at least accepted that your first post in this quote chain was complete nonsense and you had no way of defending that nonsense that you thought changing the topic entirely could work Grin
997  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Send hospital ships to Gaza on: November 20, 2023, 05:03:41 AM
Gaza strip is 25 miles (North-South) and as narrow as 3.7 miles in some places (West - East), with a population of over 2 million people, it's not like Hamas the luxury of building large military bases 500 miles away from the nearest residential area, regardless of where you store a rocket it will always be a short distance from the nearest hospital, building,
That is why all of their ammunition is stored in a way to be impossible to be hit by the enemy.

You see, this is not the first time the apartheid regime slaughters Palestinians by bombing them with heavy missiles. Hamas, as the defenders of Palestine, have been building a complex and impenetrable tunnel system underneath occupied/Palestine all these years during all their battles with the invaders.
These tunnels are at 60 meters deep with different depths and widths. Some small for only a person to pass and some wide for vehicles to pass. All of them are reinforced against heaviest bombs. In other words even bunker busters won't work on these.

That means no matter how hard the Zionist terrorists attack Gaza they won't be able to destroy any of the resistance ammunition.
This is clear from the fact that despite all the bombardment of Gaza the rocket and missile attacks against the invaders has never stopped.

The only reason why the terrorist organization Israel keeps killing civilians is two things:
1. They hoped by killing civilians they can turn them against their defenders (Hamas) but it failed.
2. They want to wipe out Palestinians entirely. That is the ethnic cleansing that's been going on for decades.

if the IDF wants to fight Hamas alone they should let the civilians into Israel until the war is over,  Israel is over 22,000 km² large with a small population of <10 million, so there is plenty of room.
They don't want to fight Hamas, they don't even have the strength to fight Hamas. 300+ Merkava tanks and hundreds of armored vehicles and dozers, the dozens of aircraft including a F16 they lost on top of the estimated 3000-4000 Zionist, US, UK and French troops that were eliminated is the clear indication of their lack of strength.

Besides, the only goal of the apartheid regime is to finish the genocide they started 70 years ago and kill all Palestinians so that they can continue with their expansion into Egypt, Jordan and other neighbor countries and finally start their world domination plans.
998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Is bigger block capacity still a taboo? on: November 19, 2023, 03:28:19 PM
I believe some of you might start going deeper into the argument for bigger blocks that you might also start to think Roger Ver and Bitcoin Cash made the right decision, and you might also start debating for Satoshi's original vision.
You should already know that the problem with bcash is not even Ver, nor was it the fact that it increased the block size to whatever MB. The problem with bcash and the reason why it is considered a shitcoin is that it is a contentious hard fork. In other words it was the minority making a change in consensus rules without having the majority's support.

The question effectively becomes:  "What does it take to get everyone on the same page?"
We've managed to make a lot of changes in the consensus rules through over a dozen forks and all of them could get "everyone" on board (95%+ and I believe once was 75% threshold).

The problem is toxic people who also spread misinformation. As long as they don't muddy the development process and the community, it is not as hard as you'd think to get everyone on the same page.
So I'd say a better question is "how do we get rid of toxicity?"

Even under the pressure of Ordinals, we can't find agreement within a tiny sample of network participants.
Same. We still haven't been able to get rid of those who continue using the term "token" when referring to Ordinals. That's the simplest and most basic thing! As long as we fail to do that, we fail to move to the next level.

The damage of spreading such misinformation will remain in the Bitcoin community for years too. Like with SegWit that even today there are people who say "SegWit removes signatures from transactions" all because of misinformation similar toxic people spread about it in 2017.
999  Economy / Economics / Re: Boycotting iSrAEl's product? think again. on: November 19, 2023, 02:03:01 PM
I hope these companies release some statistics at some point to see the scale of the effects the ongoing boycott had on their revenues. At this point we only have news and social media to speculate and it is not accurate.
For example the most recent "activity" by the dictator of Arabia shows the boycott may be bigger than we thought because the al-Saudi dictator is ordering his mouthpieces to advertise McDonald's which is something that's happened for the first time!
1000  Economy / Speculation / Re: Timely Halving Event and Bitcoin ETF a Positive Bombshell on: November 19, 2023, 01:13:10 PM
There are a bunch of reasons that contributed to this rise but I wouldn't put ETF's fake hype in that list or at least it would be at the bottom of it. Breaking the $30k resistance and coming up this high is too big a rise to be attributed to such a weak news like ETF. The two main reasons in my opinion were the halving hype that is getting closer and the other one is the interest rates that mostly stopped rising which always leads to more capital coming to all other markets (other than the bonds crap).
