981  Economy / Speculation / Re: will bitcoin reach 2000$ ? on: February 21, 2017, 04:08:10 PM
It's going to be fun watching all the idiots with opened short positions get destroyed by the monumental pump that we are about to witness. The biggest pump in asset history ever, we will reach 10,000 and beyond, it will be insane. Suicides everywhere from shorts, people that panic sells along the way, it will be fantastic to be a holder. We can't never lose.
982  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are you currently Mining and why? on: February 21, 2017, 03:38:24 PM
Just wanting to see what everyone is into these days.
I am currently on Zcash, waiting on something new that seems promising to mine.

I haven't mined anything since the Dogecoin or Auroracoin days. I remember I had AUR worth 1.2 BTC back then, and I didn't sell at the peak because I was a delusional noob that expected even more gains, so I ended up selling the 50 something AUR for less than 0.1 BTC... im still bitter about that.

I made 0.5 BTC with DOGE tho.

I haven't bothered with mining ever since then. I may start mining new random alts once I buy a new GPU.
983  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach $1000 again or not ? on: February 20, 2017, 06:10:21 PM
if the price of bitcoin down, I was so sure bitcoin prices will definitely go up higher, and it will even exceed the price of $ 1,000. no matter how often bitcoin prices go down, I'm sure it will keep rising. I think in 2013, many people who think that bitcoin was dead, but today, bitcoin is really proving its potential.

The price will be stable at 1000$ for a while, it will keep climbing really slowly, then a random day it will peak in a huge green candle, and we will then see a lot of people jumping in the rocket in fear of missing out further driving the price up.
984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So Iconomi got dumped, who lost money? on: February 20, 2017, 04:55:11 PM
It bottomed at 275, now we are at 345... good or bad? we'll see, im not buying, because BTC is showing signs of being a total god of crypto that always recovers from every dip, and looks like we are at the verge of a new all time high + massive pump peak of unprecedented price. I don't think people is going to dump their moon tickets for some altcoins.

If you have some altcoins that think will pump while BTC rises I want to hear that but i dont think a single one will.
985  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Will Spike Over 65% After Winkelvoss ETF on: February 20, 2017, 04:03:39 PM
The COIN share will have a different price temporarily to the BTC price, but since this would be used to make arbitraging, it will quickly reach a similar price, so I don't expect to make any money from that. It's better to just keep buying BTC. COIN is mostly for old people and non-tech people that don't know shit about bitcoin.
986  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Share your portfolio on: February 20, 2017, 03:20:37 PM
Well for me that would go like that

1 Bitcoin
2 Bitcoin
...
9 Bitcoin
...
999 Bitcoin
etc.

I don't see ANY reason to get involved with any other crypto, its like copy paste from bitcoin with minor changes without computing power that makes it secure.

Indeed, im all in on bitcoin right now my self, but sometime some interesting stuff happens, byteball offers some changes, but not enough to make us rich I think.

I just want to get rich by investing in a new altcoin that brings new solid competition for bitcoin, until then im afraid there are no alts worth holding at least long term..
Holding altcoins may be one of the ways how to get rich in a long term (because that surely won't happen overnight). Grin And the truth is, that there are many alt coins on the market which have increased their value in hundreds of % recently. If you invest in alts at the right moment and cash out them at another right moment, you can make a significant amount of coins.

long term? no way!
altcoins are only good for a short term investment (except 1 or 2 of them). if you buy them in the hope that for example in a year or two they are going to be as big as bitcoin, then i have to tell you now that you are wasting your time and money and you could have made lots more profit by short term investing in altcoins and dumping them on pumps to make lots more bitcoin in return.

I can't think of a single coin worth holding long term other than bitcoin, not even 1 or 2 altcoins... Ethereum? Huge risk, will hard fork, we will see a big mess again eventually.

XMR? Not sure, the coin is yet to show how to properly scale without centralizing the nodes.

What else is there?
987  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IS dash now sorta a hybrid ripple/bitcoin? on: February 20, 2017, 12:06:13 AM
Its seems dash is sorta like ripple with the UNL = The masternodes, then this gets hashed compiled back into the blockchain of dash later?

I don't know but I would like to know, seems like it pumped nicely lately. The problem is, I remember reading that the masternodes model was a great threat model that would be exploitable by an attacker, so I would like to know the details.
988  Economy / Gambling discussion / Favorite contact sport events to gamble with? on: February 19, 2017, 06:17:56 PM
We have:

Boxing matches (Showtime PPV, HBO, that's it for the big ones)
MMA: UFC, Bellator (the new Strikeforce? it's gaining strength)
Kick boxing: K1, Glory

what else is there, and what are your favorites? what one did you make the most money at?

I made like $5,000 in the past 15 years betting wins on Mayweather, so boxing was my favorite.

UFC, I used to bet in the Fedor times, not so much anymore, specially with Bon Jones out. I might start betting again, bet win on Bon Jones everytime for easy money.

I also did some k1 bets, made money thanks to Mirco Crocop performances.
989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think "iamnotback" really has the" Bitcoin killer"? on: February 19, 2017, 05:16:42 PM
I hope that the recovery is a success and so is the coin. Im sick of not being rich, my head hurts all day, and one of my eyes is always a bit blurry, I also have eye floaters on this same eye. I cannot focus on doing any job that requires starting into a computer, and im not even high IQ so im not bright enough to code anything remarkable, so all I can do is browse all day and read about investing opportunities so I can at least make enough money to live off passive income. I only need another property so I don't need to work. I don't even want a lambo lifestyle, just be able to not worry about paying bills (even tho the lambo would be cool im not going to lie)

So I browse all day looking for opportunities. Byteball looks good, but im worried that since they are giving away basically free GBYTE, investors will dump.

Pascalcoin already peaked in a pretty big pump, I may consider entering once it finally stabilizes. I think it's starting to look like a good entry point for the next pump:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/pascal-coin/

of course there is always the possibility of continued stagnation tho...

anyway I hope you can eventually deliver something gamechanging and hopefully the market will respond accordingly (making rich the early investors). I will never rest until I somehow make it and I hope this is the one.
990  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goodbye Bitcoin on: February 19, 2017, 04:05:18 PM
Ahh, I don't know how to say this, but I have to say the truth. Bitcoin is over. The 8 year experiment that was meant to change the world for the better and to emancipate the human population, has turned into an echochamber of trolls who yell at eachother, while the system is slowly collapsing, and being replaced by other altcoins.

I am in Bitcoin since 2013-2014, I have seen all of it, and mostly the inability of it to evolve. It wasn't as bad until 2015, and throughout 2016 I was silent, but now it's 2017, and things are getting worse. Only a fool will deny that.

If this continues, then Bitcoin will be over. I don't want that, since I have obviously invested a lot of time and effort into this. But I fear that there is no other option now, as I am seeing the inability of the community to resolve issues.

I have sent a transaction 2 days ago, and guess how much fee I had to pay? 70,000 satoshi.
Yes 70,000 satoshi for an average size transaction, with 1 input and 1 output, in order to be confirmed within 2 blocks.

I remember the time when back in 2014 I used to work 3 hours doing stupid faucets for 70,000 satoshi, and now it's all gone in 1 transaction? Cheesy

Now I have heard the dumbasses saying that we can't have faster than 10 min confirm time because it will create orphans (strangely other cryptocoins don't have this issue). So I can put up with a 10 min confirmation time, just for the sake of this argument.

But to pay 70,000 satoshi in order to have 20 min confirmation, is just ridiculous. I might as well just switch to Paypal, what is the difference at this point?
The alternative of course was to wait 30-40 blocks with a 12000 satoshi fee.

Now is Bitcoin "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" like satoshi wanted, with 70,000 satoshi fee OR  40 block wait time?
Or is Bitcoin just a Frankenstein monster, that has obvious flaws (this, miner centralization, nodes are not incentivized, etc) that will slowly die off once better alternatives come in?

And the community reaction is also deplorable. Most people call me troll or shill, just for pointing out legitimate criticisms? What you can't criticize Bitcoin now? Is Bitcoin just an echochamber of fanatics and fanboys? Because without criticism, you can't solve issues.

Given the fact that most new Bitcoiners are from 3rd world countries, where high transaction fee is unacceptable. And given the fact that most people in the world like simple & elegant solutions (like how Apple conquered the marketplace with this method).

People want simple solutions:
  • Pronouncable addresses instead of long hash text
  • Instant confirmation times (yes it's possible)
  • Low or no fees (yes it's possible)
  • Unlimited transactions (yes it's possible)
  • Simple wallet GUI (ok, this one bitcoin does have through mobile apps)

So out of these 5 critical marketing poinst, bitcoin can only deliver 1, which is a very poor performance. And there are of course other security related issues, but they are not necessarly cared by Average Joe.

So it seems to me that 3rd worlders have absolutely no incentive to use Bitcoin. They will just use another cryptocurrency that can deliver these promises.

Segwit will probably not pass, and then we will be stuck another 2 years bitching and moaning at eachother and trying to find scapegoats.

And in that time, Bitcoin will be replaced by a better alternative, once the majority of people realize that it's pointless to argue with trolls.

So after 4 years of being in this community, I'm afraid I have to leave it now. I don't see any hope for Bitcoin in the long run. It was a good prototype, and it definitely taught us a lot of good technical things, but also a lot of game theory/ sociology things, where it has been proven in my opinion, that consensus can't be made without a clear voting platform.

So yes, Bitcoin was the first, we thank satoshi for his work. But Bitcoin isn't "THE ONE". It's just a failed prototype with many bugs. And out of this failure a better and stronger coin will arise.

Quoted for future reference. Now you can join the club of losers that quit and then realize the bitcoin price went x2 when they look back just like Mike Hearn. So please dump, and come back in a couple of years so we can laugh at you and your FUD.

Bitcoin is the best. No coin that has cheap fast onchain transactions at VISA level while offering the same security backed by the massive bitcoin PoW network will ever exist because its physically impossible. If such coin existed, we would all buy and become billionaires overnight.

The VISA part will get covered by LN. If we don't get an optimal LN, you can blame the idiots that block segwit.

In any case, bitcoin will remain the most valued coin and will only keep growing, so have fun being a loser.
991  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Becoming rich owning all altcoins in 5 years? on: February 19, 2017, 03:15:42 PM
Thanks Wedice, but can you explain why?

If there was an altcoin that would pump hard enough to make you rich from a tiny investment even by buying at the bottom, I would have already bought that, but if I was to be realistic, I cannot find a single coin that will give you that massive amount of profit at this point even in 5 years.

Of all the altcoins, I dont see a single altcoin worth holding for 5 years, and I still see bitcoin as number one coin... I wish to know the alt that will make us richer than a motherfucker, but unfortunately, I dont see it.
992  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC vs ETH? on: February 18, 2017, 07:06:56 PM
I dont think thats true, most people only care about bump and dump, not discussing about actual prospects of BTC, ETH or any other coin

that's what i mean. business students might make the mistake of attempting to look into fundamentals when there are none. it's all smoke and mirrors. someone who hangs out here would know that.

same goes for the forks and dao disaster. no one who hasn't educated themselves would know anything about that and they're far more important than bullshit future adoption.

You are right, in my book ETH/ETC is something that is sitting under a very malleable and fragile base, to the contrary of bitcoin which is simpler and solid. Turing complete as a base for the software was a mistake.

In any case, what makes me have second thoughts of not owning Ethereum, its the fact that it seems to be backed by the big business like IBM, Microsoft etc... so what do we do?
993  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Let us talk about a Bitcoin poker room in free fall, betcoin.ag on: February 18, 2017, 06:35:28 PM
The betcoin.ag scam is in free fall on Alexa Global Rank: 157,668 - 48,929 = 48% down within 2 months!

Maybe that was the caused of their past case and failure to pay the winner. And a lot of poker players did moved their tails backward with betcoin.
How do you know that a lot of poker players did move their tails backward with bitcoin? Do you have a statistic available?

What is the reason why they moved their tails backward with bitcoin?

What do you think, will they go out of business soon?

I think no, gamblers are everywhere and they still do have a lot of players so I think they can remain alive in the industry.
20 players in average are a lot of players?

Yes, gamblers are everywhere, but they have to find your offer and this requires to advertise your offer. But if you have a bad reputation like betcoin.ag, then the recruitment costs per player could be not sustainable!

They limited the signature campaign payment for their 70 promoters to only 100 posts per month in December 2016. Could this be the reason why they fall so heavily?

Budgeting in advertising is a must, maybe that's the reason of limiting their participants but there are also other campaigns that are limiting their participants.
But this is the first time that they limit it. Why did they not limit it earlier? And suddenly all the cuts everywhere, while they were not able to rise their traffic with the previous actions.

They didn't limit it earlier because bitcoin wasn't sitting on a solid $1000 floor... I wish that they still allowed 150 posts, but they are paying more or less the same money as they did a couple months ago when bitcoin was cheaper and they accepted 100 posts, even tho they also lowered the rates tho...

We'll see, im happy with the signature campaing and I have never had any problems with the staff. I would like rates a bit higher considering the posts got cut by 50, but look at the other signature campaings.. it's not like they are making a lot of competition, rates are shit nowadays.
994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEGWIT & LN KILLING OFF the OnChain Miners (Better start looking for new Jobs) on: February 18, 2017, 04:50:44 PM
Are you fucking stupid? Offchain transactions happen daily every time, tons of them. On every exchange there are tons of offchain transactions happening.

There will still need to be the same amount of miners or more. LN means offchain transactions are wrapped in packages, then those packages are sent ONCHAIN which means you still need miners. Segwit is a needed improvement for other things besides scaling.

Why are all the anti segwit and anti LN guys literally braindead? This must be me replying to a troll again anyway.
995  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: February 18, 2017, 04:08:37 PM
@thejaytiesto. Undefeated does not mean anything if the fighter cannot do a good and entertaining performance. A fight versus Floyd will be boring I am sure of it. Conor will be chasing him around the ring and nothing. A fight with Pacquaio will be full if action and I do not think the Irishman will last in the ring against him. That would be a real fight not like what both Floyd and Conor are hustling right now. That fight might be only for show to take our money.

Undefeated means 49 other men tried to defeat him and nobody could do it. Mayweather has had exciting performances. When he was young he was a complete package: Fast, one of the best defenses every and knockout power.

Of course as he got older he didn't have the same amount of power and just uses his jab and pushes it to 12 rounds, but its the other fighter duty to to find weak points and nobody can outsmart Floyd.
996  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coin will give us good gains in case ETF gets passed and BTC goes to moon? on: February 17, 2017, 07:21:42 PM
Altcoins that don't attempt to do what Bitcoin does "better" or "faster" appreciate in value alongside BTC. Really anything outside of a select few coins will at least maintain its BTC value (and if it holds value while Bitcoin appreciates, it's appreciating, too.)

Im not sure about that... we have seen huge ETH crashes, huge MAID crashes... as BTC climbed up. I think those aren't safe too, when a big ass BTC pump happens everyone sells their altcoins. At the end of the day, everyone just wants more and more BTC, they will sell anything they have to make their BTC holdings bigger. There are no safe coins when BTC pumps.

On a dip is a different story. But then again, people might sell the alts to buy the dip so....
997  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: February 17, 2017, 04:12:39 PM
@thejaytiesto. The point is not about who is at fault here. It is more about the fans being tricked into thinking that this will be a real super fight. Knowing Floyd Mayweather's style it will be going in there and win by points then he goes out and gets his money. Conor might try to knock him out bit it will still end up in a lackluster performance. Pacquaio will be a better match up for Conor if you want to see fireworks in my opinion.

Pacquiao vs Connor would be more exciting because both of them have an aggressive style and known to have powers on their left hand(southpaw) so for casual fans this is better than watching Mayweather ran around the ring and not engaging Connor and won simply by decision if they ever fight. I love the trash talk going on between Mayweather and Connor though, but if ever they face in the ring, it will be a different story.

Pacquiao is not as exciting because he is undefeated. Most likely Pacquiao would win... and there is always the small possibility Connor wins.

Similarly, Mayweather will likely win, but, in the small % of Connor winning, it would be such a massive historic event. If Mayweather gets unlucky and loses his entire legacy I would be worry the guy commits suicide or something.
998  Economy / Speculation / Re: New down trend. $1000 definitively broken. on: February 17, 2017, 03:00:24 PM
Kwuduck is such a fucking clown. Always gets everything wrong, and when he gets it right is because statistically it's impossible that you keep getting it wrong. Now in advance he says that "eventually the price will go down". Fucking really? This guy is a walking joke, can't stand his FUDtroll threads. He should be permabanned but then again we need people like this to expose themselves as permaFUDsters.
999  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you feel shameful for being a gambler? on: February 17, 2017, 01:37:34 PM
Well not really since I just do it for fun and very casually, usually to meet with friends in Las Vegas city and have some real life fun. I never gamble online because its too addictive and its very easy to empty your bank account gambling like an idiot, and now with bitcoin its even easier to get your wallet emptied due bad emotions. Its best to control your urge to gamble and only do it in real life a couple times a year and bet big for fun.
1000  Economy / Speculation / Re: Spectacular bitcoin performance. on: February 17, 2017, 12:14:47 AM
I personally don't see why the ETF wouldn't be approved if you consider that the Winklevoss brothers have had enough time to iron out any doubts that the SEC might have had at the beginning.

You may be right, but the low probability experts estimate for an approval isn't there without a reason. Also, on Bitmex, the current price for the binary asset (100=approval, 0=disapproval) is 34 - so traders also are thinking it's less probable than 50%.

Quote
I however think you're a bit too negative when it comes to the price in case the ETF doesn't get approved. I can understand that due to the disappointment of people some might dump as result, but I can't see the price fall below $800 just because of that. It wouldn't be fair.

There is no such thing like "fairness" in Bitcoin speculation Wink Was the <$200 dump in 2015 "fair"? Is it fair that early adopters that played around with play money in 2009/10 can be multi-millionaires when Bitcoin prices over $1000?

I personally don't think price would go much lower than $800 (735 or 780 are my best bets) in case of a disapproval, but as I estimate that some are speculationg on a positive outcome, we may see a dump of more than 10 or 15%.

The dump may not even happen. Some people were expecting a dump toady because of more chinese news regarding the freeze of withdrawals for one more month and the price went up, so all those shorters got destroyed.

Sometimes you expect something and the opposite happens.
