So, is the reason gox is climbing so high is because people are paying whatever to just get BTC and get out? Man, Im glad I did that when btc was around 100 or so, even then I took a 20 percent hit, but it was worth it.... So, when people are done transferring, will gox settle down to what the other exchanges are at?

i would expect it to come back down to about 10% difference like it was b4 once this settles.
9843  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 26, 2014, 11:10:57 PM
scary stuff.

this FUD totally explains the ever increasing gap between mtgox and other exchanges....

Do you all think that prevalent use of a protocol such as colored coins could make each bitcoin even more rare and thus drive up price beyond the theoretical future valuations we have predicted?

well, fuck ya!

 Cheesy

I had 8.5 BTC withdrawal from Gox 4-5 days ago, it went smooth too.

I've withdrawn BTC from Gox as well and it went smooth.  Not sure anyone is arguing or disagreeing with that point.

When was the last time you've tired a USD or EURO / SEPA withdrawal from them over $1k and it's gone through?

have you ever been GOXXED!  Tongue

MtGox is confident they will eventually sort out the mess thats holding up the USD withdrawal, or they wouldn't even give the option on the site.

meanwhile the huge % differance is there because every once in a while poeple lose faith they ever will fix up their shit.

Guys, Gox was "going under" six months ago, and six months before that.

Guess what? They're still here.

as much as we like to hate on gox, they still get the job done.  Everyone wishes they could do everything they do lightning speed ( which is possible, you don't hear so much BS coming from stamps ), and we all wish they had had there USD paperwork in order from the start, but they work like that, and nothing is going to change that.
9848  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 26, 2014, 04:26:12 PM
The people left on MtGox with Fiat are forced to buy super expensive BTC and withdraw these before Gox closes.
That makes Bitcoins rare on the market and the price breakes everything.

You can't withdraw BTC from MtGox at the moment, it's broken.

Bullshit. Withdrawal made 2 minutes ago:

https://blockchain.info/address/15WYt7RanygXEXB3UpBJiC2n8vyYzf9jLg

Waiting now 50 minutes, withdrawal of 100BTC, transaction is still not in the blockchain...

You're withdrawing too much Tongue

Things like that happen with all exchanges from time to time.

ya they keep the bare min. on the hot wallet... probably let these bigger withdraw hang and pile up and then process them at the end of the day in a batch.

being entrusted with people's bitcoins is serious shit.

Did the IRS or whatever return Gox's money yet? Didn't they seize accounts?

I'd expect to hear about somthing like that

and i havnt heard anything...

Inspirational Buy All the Bitcoins Speech

We're in hell boys, believe me. Now, we can be greedy and fearful and cash in our bitcoins for fiat, pay our taxes and participate in the up and coming bail-ins.... OR, we can fight our way back,  we can buy our way into the light,  we can climb out'a hell. I look around and i see newbies everywhere, and i think... I mean... i've made every wrong choice a bitcoiner can make, I fell in every single bears trap in the 20's, I pay 50BTC for mining contracts at 90$. and lately I feel like selling everything.... Newbies talk of bearishness and china being an issue, which reminds me what's at stake here, what we've been fighting for this whole time. and what the bitcoin market really is. the bitcoin market is a promise of freedom and fairness for all.  We are a team poeple, fighting for honest money and freedom from the banksters. Either we heal now as a team, or we will die as individuals. We can get screwed by the system one by one, or, we can unite and screw the system AS A TEAM. On this team, we fight for the bitcoins, On this team we tear ourselves to pieces for the bitcoins! BECAUSE WE KNOW, when we add up all those bitcoins thats gonna make the fuck'n difference, between winning and losing, between getting screwed and screwing them. I'll tell you this, in any fight its the guy that's willing to die thats gonna win, and i know if i'm gonna have any life anymore its because i'm still willing to fight and die for the dream, because that's what living is! The dollars we need are everywhere around us, Now I can't make you do it, you have to look at the guy next to you, look at his avatar, I think you'll see a guy who will fight for the bitcoin dream, because when it comes down to it, he needs it as badly as you do.

Now.... what are you gonna do?!

Gox has been steadily increasing while everywhere else is sideways.

An analysis of why and what I think it means:

http://theblogchain.com/2014/01/24/mtgox-is-mtvesuvius-the-full-story/

Gox is going to crash upwards.

Been hearing this "crash upwards" story for almost a year now...

How interesting. I guess someone beat me to last month's data a year ago. Oh well.

lol

no for real we have been hearing about mtgox crashing upward for about a year

i think the fact that poeple can still withdraw EUR or anything other then USD keeps this from happening

The number of coins is completely arbitrary. What matters is the value of your total stash. I once had a goal of 1000 coins and I alllllllmost reached it, but I'll never get that now and you know what? doesn't even matter.  It was just a nice round number. Something psychological. What matters is my daughter can have braces, a quincinera, a college education and a wedding some day.

and a single bitcoin now WILL be worth millions if the multi-year log trend holds.  in only three to five years.
What are you talking about.

100 BTC and each BTC is worth $1 million -> 100 x $1 million = $100,000,000.

1 BTC and each BTC is worth $1 million -> 1 x $1 million = $1,000,000.

That is a difference of 100x - that is the difference between being able to start up a multimillion dollar business project and not being able to. That is the difference between being financially free and not. BTC is not going to $1 million in 5 years, it may go there within 10.

The more BTC, the more purchasing power and the sooner you reach that plateau of purchasing power where you no longer have to worry about spending everything you have to get to where you want to be. It is a HUGE difference. Its massive.

That is exactly my point... you want bitcoin to go up as soon as possible so you can buy some stuff (whatever a quincinera is and why you would want to waste BTC on it that you think are going to $1,000,000). I want to accumulate bitcoin so I can be in a position to produce stuff.

Sigh. ok Junior, read carefully:

1 BTC=~$800 now  ~1000% annual appreciation for the trend.

in one year 1 BTC=~$8,0000
two years 1BTC=~$80,000
three years 1BTC=~$800,000
Four years 1 BTC=~$8,000,000
Five years 1 BTC=~80,000,000

$80 mil is a position to produce stuff. Now this trend may slow down, but again, you're young.  You say you want to swing for the fences. Good. I'm like that too. Just don't strike out waiting for the perfect pitch.

$80m x 12.3m Bitcoins (currently) = 12 x the entire sum of the GDPs of all the countries in the world. Or maybe you are on another planet.

lol
no.

thats 80 million not Balizion

^Jesus!!! you think BTC is going to $80,000,000?
