9901  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s3 problems on: May 09, 2015, 07:42:11 PM
So if I change the psu since I do have a REVOLUTION87+ 1000W psu all the problems should go away? I haven't overclocked the miner and all the other settings are default.

That is good PSU based on jonnyguru. But it's not single rail, it's have four rail. Each rail can deliver 30A.
But the connector divided to V2, V3 & V4. Each connector have 2 x 6 pin pcie connector which can connect to one blade only. Lets say one blade use 170watt(14A), then you are wasting 16A on each rail.

Single rail PSU is the best choice.

I don't really understand the "wasting 16A on each rail". The current used  is what the miner requires, not what the PSU can supply, If the 12V load on the rail is say 15A, then that's what it gets. If you are trying to find a way to connect more mining hardware to the one power supply, then it matters. As long as a rail can supply what's need, with some margin, then you should be good to go.

Once the OP finds out if his miner will run for days at a time, without the "2-day stop" issue, then he can figure out what might be better and if he wants to spend the money. Until it's working well, it makes little sense to try and optimize the situation.

One other comment. It became obvious to me that it's usually a good idea to get a better PSU that might absolutely be required. A good PSU will likely be usable on a new generation miner. I now understand that a good PSU is a longer term investment than the actual mining hardware.

A good psu is a good choice as a investment.  You can easily use them for multiple generations like alh has mentioned.   I have some RM1000's I paid off with S3's and now its just extra being able to use them with next gen gear.

And you can always sell PSU's aswell if you wanted if high quality. So it's not a "sunk" cost.

Is this what you believe faucets do for new people?   I think when earn a few cent's it will most likely turn them off to BTC.  They might even associate BTC with pennies as that is what they would earn.

I would much rather somone read abut bitcoins and understand them.  Even mining with a few dollar usb stick is good as far as learning about BTC.  I would say a block erupter usb stick would teach someone more about BTC then a facuet.  I don't see faucets as spreading knowledge.

End goal of a faucet is to make money for owner, that is true of any faucet.

A USB mini-miner used to be educational, when it could produce dust above the payout threshold of many pools. Now, it's hard to get sufficient dust or even shares at the current share difficulties set by pools.

That's what were talking about is education.   I said the usb miner would be better at helping someone learn about btc then a faucet.

I just don't see a faucet as a good educational tool.  And yes this and faucets cause dust.   If you do micro payments that will happen.
9903  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Control S3 miners remotely ? on: May 09, 2015, 06:44:28 PM
During the summer I will be living in a remote location. I want to access the miners remotely to restart them and change pool data etc. Would that be possible with a Rasberry Pi?

Also, how big is the risk of fire? I'm not sure if I'm confortable leaving the miners on for 3 months without surveillance. Are the S3s stable enough?
You can setup your Pi to be a VPN server so you can remote login to your miners.  It's a bit of work to get it running, but once you do, it's the next best thing to being there Smiley.  I'd suggest starting here: http://readwrite.com/2014/04/10/raspberry-pi-vpn-tutorial-server-secure-web-browsing

Or another option is teamviewer.  Teamviewer is a very easy option if you are going to have a pc (in this case a Raspberry Pi on).

With team viewer you can log in from pretty much anywhere there is internet, including phone apps at this point.   So no needing to know current IP, just your username and password.

If your worried about fire this wont really alert you.  You might look into fire alarms tied into a security system if you want easy.  Or you could look into hooking up a a smoke sensor to the raspberry pi.
9904  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Starting bitcoin mining on: May 09, 2015, 06:40:47 PM
start sooner vs. later, difficulty tends to keep going up , also the block award will decrease to 12.5 will be here before you know it...

We still have a while before the halving.   I would say there is at least one more generation of miner's before halving.

Once we are less then a year I will think different.  But still have over a year.
The halving should prove to be quite interesting.  When it went from 50 to 25, there wasn't a whole lot of fanfare... of course, in 2012 there weren't as many players in the market.

Halving no doubt will be huge in btc mining.  I'm not saying it's not going to change things.

A rough estimate is  Reward-Drop ETA: 2016-07-29 05:38:54 UTC (63 weeks, 5 days, 16 hours) .  So a year and two months.   I think most when looking shoot for under a year for sure.

If you were planning on over a year to ROI yes I guess it could effect you, but I hope most are under this.
9905  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: EARN BITCOIN NEWBIE GUIDE on: May 09, 2015, 06:37:18 PM
Look like a lot of work for almost nothing in return.

I'm glad at least one newb gets it. Sadly most don't until they've wasted countless tedious hours filling in captchas and have next to nothing to show for it and then when they try spend the dust they have to pay massive fees because of all the tiny inputs.

People don't realize they do 8 hour's of this stuff for cents.   It's crazy how little of a return.

I don't blame new people.  I blame those who spread faucets wit referrals and stories of how much they make.   When a faucet has a jackpot.... it's hardly ever going to pay it out.  When you see "Win up to"... know you will win less.

I am dammn sure that the people who use faucets doesn't make much but the people who owns rotator or faucets itself make little..
I previously owned a rotator and I made 0.01 btc in 20 days..
It isn't nice  so in my opinion none of people should relate them self with the word faucet...

I explained above what faucets are for, there is no point in trashtalking something that is made to instruct and help new people that start working or want to work in the future with bitcoins, no one says faucets are made to make you rich, if you think that its your own problem, like thinking you will be rich playing dice. Blame the player not the game

Is this what you believe faucets do for new people?   I think when earn a few cent's it will most likely turn them off to BTC.  They might even associate BTC with pennies as that is what they would earn.

9906  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: May 09, 2015, 06:32:30 PM
The best way to earn BTC is signature compaign but u can also earn from  Social media compaign......I guess social media compaign is more easier way to earn bitcoins.....And rates are also good Smiley

Can you go more into details on social media option you put?

I think that is a hard route to go especially is competing for referrals.  Referrals are not really easy to get on most items.
9907  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Huge List of Free Bitcoin Faucet on: May 09, 2015, 06:30:57 PM
earn free satoshi (3000-2000-1000)/hour !!! http://yourdailyfaucets.webstarts.com/

Satoshi makes it sound like more then it really is.  I don't think everyone realizes how small a satoshi is.  Eac is approx 0.0024237 usd.  So lets say you win all 3k and are up 24 hours a day.  You would make a little over 17 cent's if you did this ALL DAY.

When you look at it this way I think it's not really worth it.  Just too small, and you wont get the 3k satoshi every hour most likely it will be lesser amount.
9908  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: May 09, 2015, 06:27:09 PM
I think the best way to earn money is from the Sig campaign here. If you are a FM or Above join some best campaigns like Dadice or Bit-x and few other and make a good quality posts that could help this forum and you will see how your earning go to the moon  Grin

They are a good option as long as you keep quality of post up.   It pay's to do something you would do anyways, so I consider it a win/win.

I also suggest doing it and other things.  I like mining so I combine sig campaign and mining.  Your's might be trading.  But don't just get stuck in one way to earn btc.
9909  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer or PSU issue? on: May 09, 2015, 06:23:55 PM
I just purchased an ANTMINER S3 and I am attempting to get it running.. i have a 400W PSU for each antminer S3. I am having issues with the PSU just powering off... I am assuming that it is because it is being overloaded... but I am not sure... Any suggestions, and updates on a better PSU?

Have you tried to get it running at a lower frequency?  This sounds like not enough power possibly.

Also can you tell us model of PSU you are using? Not all PSU's are equal.
9910  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Help (again) on: May 09, 2015, 06:22:23 PM
yeh i need a help. i still confuse sometimes about bitcoin, may be there is anyone can help me.
like as how get many coin or mining so i can get much coin for my wallet. thank you.

What is your electricity price?  You need low to mine.  Also what is budget it will take quite a bit to gain more BTC.

Easiest way is buying btc with fiat.  But personally I love mining and mostly do it.

antminer s5 batch 5 is on again! you can buy new miners Smiley

I would say it was just catching up from International Labor Day.  Now they are back and ready to sell.
9912  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: May 3rd to May 14th diff thread. OPEN for picks NOW! on: May 09, 2015, 06:18:13 PM
Were still above 240 but it's going awful close to under.  I really want it to switch directions and 240+ stay.

I guess we will see tonight what happens.  I think we might be under 240 again.
9913  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Can someone help a total noob? Can I make mining profitable in my circumstances? on: May 09, 2015, 06:16:26 PM
Is that a 12ga extension cord rated for 15A?   Cheesy

Yea... we will find out if really does use over the 1 kw on it.  I know the S4's with their load you really need a thicker gauge.  I switched cords as other was visibly hot, after going bigger gauge it was fine.
9914  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Next consumer model miner on: May 09, 2015, 06:13:51 PM
right now to have any hope of mining even a couple dollars a week in btc you need to think in terrahashes.

so i am not aware of any home friendly models,

a decent choice may be the s5  , i don't own one, but was thinking about it....

i hear they are very loud though (the fan)

clocked normal supossed to be able to put out just over 1.1 ths

still unless you have cheap electric and a place to run the unit(s) suitable, may be tough....

I would agree with now thinking more then one TH if you want more earnings.  1T is no longer near what it once was.

As we grow more efficient you will need more and more hash.  For some it is easier to expand for more miners then it is others.  We have unique situations as home miners lot's of different situations.

9916  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Next consumer model miner on: May 09, 2015, 02:12:32 PM
I think they are only ones looking into a small miner.  Seems to be a smaller market.
Avalon is or was planning a 100Gh/s model, which should be a small miner.  SFARDS is also willing to work with integrators for smaller miners.  Both would be based on new chips, though, so have to await availability.  SFARDS's chip should be out Soon™
FAKED QUOTE
The new chips are the key for either.  Without new chips it wont get much traction on sales.

I think the market for 100 GHs or smaller is getting smaller and smaller. Look at this page to get a good miner.
(removed link)

does it works?

Note someone is screwing with me this was meant to make it look like I was spamming.  But it's a new account messing around with the quotes.  It has been reported please look here for original post - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=962730.msg11328523#msg11328523

Thank you mods for fixing it.  Appears user krankyfreak is trying to make it look like I spammed a website in big letters.

Hahaha dont judge this man by his name. DDOSbtc is just his name and you didn't know who is he. But if you DDOS the btc . Good luck if you can.

No offense was meant by me suggesting he might think about dropping account and getting new with new name.

I just wanted to warn him before he get's months in and figures out with a name he will be pre-judged a lot.  It sounds like a "criminal' name for lack of better term.    But I agree he's welcome to use it, but I think it will make life on forums harder.

Don't find a suitable word to express my feelings... :-)

I'm sure it's joy since you were talking to me.  On a serious not you might think about dumping account and starting over.  Name really is going to make most associate with illegal activity.

I don't think its gong to help you earn bitcoin unless you are a "bad guy" for lack of better term.

No man not sure this time of dumbing my account..
If the name matters then I might make an account with name good boy and try to scam people..
But I think its us character that reflects your behaviour but here as you say name matters a lot..I will keep ur words to n mind..
BTW I have a question to ask you..how many days an accounts need to be lifted from ban..?
Its a second time ban??

I have never been banned so I cannot anwser this.  Ask in Meta section and mods can tell you.     I know it varies as the have temp and perm bans.

But in meta they will be able to help you much better then I on this anwser.

minersource.net was only their website name.  Their actual business registered with the state was called "Miner Hosting, llc".  It was originally registered in Missouri and then registered as a foreign corporation when Matt moved to Colorado.  He a large number of PSUs from me a couple months before he skipped town and had them shipped to the same address that OregonMines now operates from.  Despite their insistence to the contrary OregonMines is most definitely a continuation of minersource.net/MinerHosting, llc.  I'm in the process of pursuing Matt and OregonMines for the unpaid debt.  I've already won a judgment against Miner Host, llc in Colorado small claims court (Adam's County CO Case #2015S500084).  No one from Miner Hosting even showed up to court.

What do chances of actually collecting the debt look like?
