nice.
so my Pi Butler didn't fool me when he told me somethings wrong with my hashrate.

Kano...your system works like a swiss clockwork!
And of course you obviously too with these accurate timings
you wrote every single time something gets done.

great job!
thanks man!

I hope your plan with the giveaway will work soon!

Could somebody, maybe kano, give me a whitelist of
secure node servers in Europe?

Actually I let core client choose the nodes, but
I think this isn't a secure setup for my core client.

Thanks
and
MINE ON!!
Not sure what you are asking for?
The mining nodes are listed in the first post.

I'am running a bitcoin core client (full node) on one of my machines.
But I just run it in "read-only" mode. No other core client can connect to it from outside.
I actually want to connect my core client only to some whitelistet core nodes
instead of let it choose the nodes it connects to.

I thought slush didn't pay TX fees to his miners!??
Looks like somebody should read the fine-prints.  Wink

Anyway:
Short question to master kano.

Would it make sense to fill in a manual higher difficulty in the worker settings
or is it better to just leave it automatic?

I didn't read anything about manually set the difiiculty and how this would affect my share rate
or the whole pool hashrate.

I only know that a higher difficulty hash is worth more than a lower,
but for a more difficult hash the miner needs more time.

Just like to know if it's worth setting the difficulty a bit higher than the automatic one.

MINE ON AND LET'S GET THIS BLOCK DONE!

Anyone here using Awesome Miner to monitor their miners?

I'm having an issue with the notification settings. The software allows you to set up rules such as Temp rules for automatic shutoff, warnings for certain set temps (you can even select chip temps vs board temps). The issue I'm having is I am not being alerted when the set temps are met on any of the miners. I'm not sure if there is a step I'm missing in applying the rules to each miner, etc.

Just curious if anyone has experience with the software that could help a brother out. I have ensured that the rules are enabled, and I have verified that the temps are set correctly and that the miners are actually at or above the temps with no warning.

Also along the same note, at what point do you get nervous for your chip temps? I know each person probably has their own temp they begin worrying about, I'm really just looking for what should be worrisome, and what would be catastrophic.

Fellow newbie here, only a week in. I've heard the self shut off for the miners is 90-100. I don't use awesome miner, can't help you there. As far as when I get concerned: One of mine when it reaches 78 on the main board will kick fans up to 6k rpm which then cools it to 75 rapidly, the fans go back to 4k rpm, and a few minutes later it is a rinse and repeat cycle. So when that one reaches 77 I go open the doors and let some heat out. My coolest one runs almost 10 degrees cooler for some reason, so I can't complain there. And my middle one the exhaust fan always run 5.2k-5.6k rpm constantly. (my next project figuring out that). Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. That totally helps with figuring out where everyone's numbers are. Some people say they let their chip temps run up to almost 100C in the summer time and the miners are fine but I'm not comfortable with that at all. So far the highest I have seen is around 85C and I immediately cool them down at that point. I am currently using my garage until I have a shed built with an exhaust fan and an area to separate my cool and hot side. Currently the miners heat up the garage and i pop the door to let some heat out of the room until it heats up again.

my new avalon 741 are automatically running @80-90 degree
fanspeed between 40-60%
Most time they're running on a constant level.
Not like the shitmain s9 which is turning up and down every 5 mins...

Hey kano,

short question for the management.  Grin

Are you running the pool all alone or is there any backup admin I didn't heard of yet? :-)

Maybe it's obvious but I like to know anyway.
I don't mind if you do all alone. I'm just curious about.

Thanks for making this super cool pool!!  Cool

I really like to get on our acclaim list!  Grin

MINE ON!!

Me, with all my alerts and alarms that wake me up whenever anything drastic happens - if I'm asleep Smiley
All the servers are managed and configured by me, in every aspect - there's more than 20 of them that are only for the pool, and others that have multiple uses.
Last year when I travelled around a bit I also made sure (when possible) that I had wifi on the planes so alerts and alarms would work there also.
Yeah you could say I'm rather attached to the pool Smiley

P.S. Yes I wanna get on the acclaim board also! I've never got on either, though my BDR is still under 0.8 after all this time.

I imagine the alarm horn beside your bed.
You standing straight up in bed in the second it starts to alert.  Grin Grin

This is really cool stuff!!
I manage some servers too, mostly for customers, but nothing that epic.  Cheesy

Do you have any other job or are you only attached to this pool!?   Cheesy

Hope you get to acclaim board soon. Best within a few hours and our next block!  Grin Grin

The config will stay if you change the config/bmminer.conf
Cause config is on a seperate writeable space on the controller.

You could also do some coding there in one of the files which are executed every time
the miner restarts.

You could also change the ssh password by changing config/shadow
First change the password with passwd
then copy etc/shadow to config/shadow or just the first line with the root password

By the way this is a known security issue of antminers machines.
The default ssh root password.

cheers

Hmmm.... I think a little FAQ with the main questions that are asked over and over again here in this thread
will be a really important thing and should be placed somewhere.

If I was new to this pool I just pointed my S3 to this pool just to give it a try. I don't really care about payments and stuff.
But if you bought a serious miner for 2-3k or more than one and like to get your roi you need these informations.

I started reading the thread, but there is no way to find all of your answers in the thread as noob in time.

I know most people don't even read the faq, but if someone ask a noobish question in this thread you
can just point him to the faq.

So I just think a FAQ would be a really good idea.

Hey folks,

I'm having a problem with my new avalon controller (RPi3).
I need to install some software on it. Basically a VPN Client (neorouter).
But because of the architecture I can't install either the client for openwrt nor the client for debian arm.

So just one easy question:
Has anybody running an "AvalonController" on a Debian Raspberry by just installing some additional Software
instead of using openwrt?

I asked google but just getting old instructions about bfgminer or something like that.
And I dont't want to break anything.

Thanks a lot....

Question on my own:

Is anybody using awesome miner in the professional version or higher?

I like my miners to be watched over without checking every single machine every couple of hours.

Is awesome miner the best choice or is there another maybe free software which does the job
by mail or sms to me when somethings wrong?
The software should work for avalons and antminers. ;-)

I would code some stuff by myself and build it into my house automation,
but if there is a handsome way around it I would save the coding time.

Let's get this BLOOOCK cracked!!

Hello,

Again a newbie here ... french and not very good english then question about to configure antminer to mining Bitcoin.

To be sure, is it enought following: stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 ctr200hp.worker x

I am registered on Kanopool site with username ctr200hp. I can't understand how to create worker name, no option to do that.

What I have to do? If I use for example ccminer, can I just use stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 ctr200hp.worker x in command line?

Thank's a lot

I think you'll better point your miner to stratum+tcp://de.kano.is:3333 and the other one as fallback (second pool entry)

Just ping the pool-server in the topic (us.kano.is, de.kano.is,...) and take the one with the lowest latency.
Which from france should be de.kano.is I think.

You don't need to create any workers. They'll be created as soon as you point your miner with your username: username.workername (in your case for example "ctr200hp.worker1") to the pool.
Oh and I think spaces in workernames are not support. So "worker x" would be wrong.

is there any german miner active here?

I'm still searchin for a serious seller in germany for antminer or avalons.
I bought one s9 over
antminerdistribution.eu
which worked really smooth earlier in this year for about 1700€.

but actually it looks like nobody is selling any serious mining hardware in germany.

Antminer that costs 3000€ and much more is a freakin high price.
and these are mostly just pre-order stuff.

HELP!!!

You just missed out in the Avalon 741 sales that cryptouniverse had. They are the official Canaan distributor in Europe.

Here is a link to their thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2445506.0

Thank you very much!

After I read your posting this morning I registered at cryptouniverse instantly and ordered THE LAST 2 Avalon 741 Sets.  Grin Grin
After my order they were sold out ;-)

It wasn't really cheap but I think with invoice and warranty and paid by paypal it was a reliable order.

Normaly I read all postings here...sometimes more sometimes less attentive.
Must have missed a posting about cryptouniverse.

So for now I'm waiting for these 2 miners...hopefully they'll arrive before christmas :-)

Cheers and MINE ON!!!

It's nice to see the pool back @24PH+

WTF???

20.7 PH

in a non-fee pool!!??

every bigger miner must see the advantage of this.
and if we get some bigger miner the variance drops and the ramp time too.
so they'll get paid faster and a lot more than on every other pool.

Great to see us back to "normal".
I like the biggish payments these days  Grin

Will the gone hashpower come back in a while kano?

Thanks and MINE ON!

Well I'm still processing 60 days of data (it's completed more than 21 days and 35 blocks from the start of September)
Once I complete that I'll report the results here (and to the large miners that left) and I guess we'll see if they come back or not.

I'm also going to have a zero-fee month coming soon to see if that will bring on board more miners.
More miners means less variance - and that's what's been the aim this year.
Seems like bad luck popped it's head up and destroyed that idea Tongue

The fact that we already have less than half the fees of slush seems to not bother anyone mining there, so the only way I can lower that is to temporarily have no fees Tongue
Obviously I'll announce things when they are ready ...

I read about the data processing.
And I am a bit impressed that even in this situation you have a real concept for going through this and checking every possible thing
and make it transparent to the community!! I really appreciate this! Very cool and very reliable!

I can't imagine why we're not getting much more miners in our game.

Your plan with the zero fee month sounds good.
But maybe the problem is that the only way to get more miners here is to move them from another pool.
That's very difficult if the other pools are running fine.

Maybe you should do a bit more advertisement.  Roll Eyes  Grin
A bright shiny website in front with some pool facts or FAQ etc. maybe will bring some miners too.
For Login and config is the actual website absolutly fine and very straight.
But you know... it's all about the look and feel when a prospective new miner enters the website.

Another fact is that I searched last few days where i possibly could buy another miner (in germany or without getting trouble with duty or so).
But seems all sellers are out of stock. On ebay it's too expensive. So adding hashpower by ourselfs is even if you have space left a difficult job.

I prefer a raw basic website but fully functional and currently the website is pretty good. A lot of info that other pools wont publish. I am very happy with Kano pool is very transparent as you said.

I'd love to see the results of the processed data Cheesy

I meant maybe we need a bright shiny website in frontend and the actual website just in backend
or let's say we maybe need just a bling bling website for advertisement. ;-)

I like kano's site as is! No question.
