[...] I would be satisfied if I will see an steady growth although sometimes it would be nice to see it pump.

I don't think that Edgeless will have the luxury of time at this point. Without a stable coin to value the Casino Token with, the current business model will siphon off the little profit they have and without a way to raise capital, they are burning the candle on both ends. Failure to hold to their promise to the crypto community has burned some incredible bridges for Edgeless. At this point they will be unable to raise additional capital as they have not followed through with the original promise of Edgeless.

Currently the lack of stable value for EDG, and use of Bankroll profits is pushing all risk onto the existing Holders of EDG, and the original purchasers of EDG who may still hold EDG. Those who choose to stake are a small pool that is insulted by the current Staking arrangement that refuses to reward the risk this project is running with any returns to justify that risk.

Joel Spolsky said: https://web.archive.org/web/20120202115945/https://www.inc.com/magazine/20091101/does-slow-growth-equal-slow-death.html

"So what's the proper amount of risk? A lot of people would say, "Gosh, zero?" OK, that sounds safe and reasonable. You worked hard to build your business; you're counting on it for your retirement and your kids' college and whatever. But if you're not taking any risks, you're pretty much guaranteed to fail. Somewhere, there's someone out there who is taking more risks than you, and that person's business is growing faster than yours, and that person's business may one day come to dominate your industry while yours withers away."

This has created a vicious cycle of negative price pressure for Edgeless, which is only worsened by the Edgeless Team announcing that the Bankroll profits are being used to fund current development. The market has properly punished the price of EDG, as without a clear timetable of when the Bankroll Profits will be released to match the original design, and without any possibility of favorable terms for infusing future capital the Edgeless Team is left only with heavily discounted deals to fund the continuation of Edgeless. Such deals at heavy discounts to the current market price will cause additional pressure down.

We are looking at a quite bleak future for Edgeless. Those who still may be optimistic about the possibility of Edgeless, ignore that they cannot achieve what they state with the current design.

I went to the Edgeless website, and they still talk about Staking as if it is a Beta product. This was one of the cornerstones of the White paper, and they alienate crypto enthusiast's that could provide capital by treating this as an optional, maybe if we make some profits we'll have some excess to share. This is why Edgeless is in a death spin, they won't honor their original commitment, and they are punished by the market.

Using "Profits" from your Bankroll demonstrates that you have no capital. Instead of treating the Bankroll as an asset that grows and a pot that will enthuse Players in the casino, The Edgeless Team is treating it as a piggy bank to raid.

If Edgeless would honor their commitments, and allow those who risk capital to realize a return, they would reverse this descent. They would have additional resources for building the Edgeless system, and they would not push unrewarded risk onto the market.

Every Edgeless token taken by the team and sold into the market is providing downward pressure of this project's only ability to succeed. EDG must be treated as a Stable Coin by the market, and the Stakers must be compensated for risk with reward.

If both of these were done, there is a chance for EDG and Edgeless. If not it isn't worth a penny.

That implies a market valuation of $271.666.010.407 for EDG...

Which is bigger than current aggregated market cap of all assets, $213.250.154.262.

“we overestimate the impact of technology in the short-term and underestimate the effect in the long run.”

Global gambling revenues will hit 525$ billion by 2023 for the industry. Edgeless could be a distributer if they treat EDG as a Stable coin.

Ok I'm back. I'm actually surprised by what I found.

I built a EDG valuation based around the compound results anually and when compared to other assets at market yields shows that EDG should be trading at $112 currently or 0.64 ETH.

This appears to be the way to turn around the market value of EDG.

The only reason I could see that the Edgeless Team would not want to Enable the 40% Staking is this effectively turns EDG into a Stable coin... Or maybe they realize that is the case and they don't want a Stable value for EDG???!!!

Since they are running the show I guess it's up to them. If I were a holder of EDG I would ask that this was implemented immediately. I'm only in this thread as EDG was being discussed on the Staking rewards telegram...

Isn't this something the Edgeless Team would already have thought of?

So your saying that Enabling the 40% feature for Staking would increase players in the Edgeless casino?

We were hacked, possibly by a group. The hack seemed to be very sophisticated, but there is at least one corporate partner that may have dropped the ball and be liable. We'll let the lawyers sort that out, if it goes that far.
Hacker's gonna hack. They stole VERI because it was valuable. This on top of the Parity Multisig wallet debacle is troubling. Even with the patched wallet I'm not sure Parity can be trusted. The solidity language has ease of use and some crazy default assumptions that make security gotchas like the Parity wallet snafu a constant fact of life.

I'm hoping you can move this along and provide the stakeholders assurance that the remaining tokens are in an off-line wallet, secure and ready for sale to the large institutions and funds that need them for business!

Congratulations. You are quite late to this game. This topic has been covered extensively already.

https://etherscan.io/address/0x44cab6f6dc7045fd4acd1d0f3d09fc7a83004bd3 created the Token contract:
The address of the Veritaseum Token is at: https://etherscan.io/address/0x8f3470a7388c05ee4e7af3d01d8c722b0ff52374 this is what you use to add your VERI in your ERC20 wallet!

The original crowdsale was explained here. https://blog.veritaseum.com/buy-veritas-tokens

The https://etherscan.io/address/0x82c48875C17EE5812f909a9d75C0F64f7A8719FE shows the remaining reserve tokens, that are not part of the outstanding float. I would say this is the cold-wallet for VERI and when large funds are sold from it then we can expect institutional investors to be announced. (it is also where you will see UltraCoin to VERI conversion occur)

There are 98% of tokens in reserve, this has been discussed repeatedly in this thread and Reggie on the record as saying repeatedly the VERI software will be sold to large institutional investors, who will exchange them for the Veritaseum services. Since the tokens are intended for purchasing Veritaseum services, it is not expected that they will be available on exchanges.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: July 19, 2017, 01:49:01 PM
I just found out (thru email) that Rialto.ai now has bitcointalk topic (@ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2033346.new#new) and slack channel.
And this is actually after the "ICO" ended.
Very very low profile, and the "ICO" was very professionally done all the way to token distribution.
One of the services that were discussed early on by Veritaseum was that contracts or DAO's would be created to invest and consume the research results. So when Reggie releases an analysis of a token, there will be a DAO that will exercise a position in that market; thus providing a consumer of the research that is produced and updated.
These alternate markets are exactly what hedgefunds and HNW individuals are looking for since there is almost no yield in anything other than equity positions. Veritaseum is the missing piece that they need to provide demonstrable yield. Risk is not a factor, nor is the volatility. If they can build a portfolio that has 1% exposure to cryptomarket, that is line item on the prospectus for the fund. Investors look at that and say well I've heard about bitcoin or ethereum, and here I have 1% exposure. The name of the game is diversification, you don't want all your money in buggy whip manufacturers if the automobile if going render them useless! At this time the only option is the GBTC OTC trust, and it is extremely illiquid as they are no longer issuing shares. Hedgefund managers would use veritaseum services, as an alternative. The first iteration of the P2P trading platform allowed you to easily swap exposure to BTC and USD. Easily taking a long or short position. My understanding is that currently shorting GBTC has a 80% cost which means that even if it it headed lower you could lose money with a short due to the carrying charges.

if you study the volatility when it is low you can enter. I track the Median price in my sig - it is a good start of where to enter or exit if you are trading.

Can anyone here tell me at a top level how renting a token like VERI would work? How would a coinlord retain control/ownership, and how can a lessee use the VERI and still be able to return it once they are done with it?

Veritaseum would create a smart contract to mediate the transaction. Those with tokens to rent would send them to the contract and those who needed to access a Veritaseum service which requires VERI would rent the access of the token; by sending ether to the same smart contract.

For something like the Coin reports this doesn't make much sense, but if you are trading on the P2P platform and need to stake a certain amount of VERI then this would make sense.

Out of the box ideas would include Veritaseum bidding on this project: http://gothamist.com/2015/01/21/metrocard_1.php and then renting the VERI tokens to the subway riders for the duration of the tickets... Starbucks could offer free rides to people if they watched a video. Since the whole thing would be mediated by the blockchain this would solve a lot of issues with clickbots and fake views!
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: July 18, 2017, 04:17:53 PM
Veritaseum is a building a platform, that consumes VERI.
This is the services exchanged for tokens. This platform will grow and scale as a factor of interconnected users and consumers of those services.
Autonomy is also a component here, and there is a Harvard Business School write up on Microsoft which I think is informative of how Platforms thrive:

The second theme that emerges from our work is the importance of architecture. This theme emerges at multiple levels—in the design of Microsoft's products, its platforms, and its intellectual property. At the product and platform level, the key idea is that in today's networked economy, no firm can remain an island. Technological innovations are increasingly brought to the market by networks of firms, each focused on only specific pieces of the overall puzzle. Competition takes place both between competing platforms and between products that build on top of these platforms. Managers must therefore make explicit choices about the technology architectures they adopt, deciding what to "design/make" themselves, and what to rely upon others to provide. http://hbswk.hbs.edu/item/the-secret-of-how-microsoft-stays-on-top

You should buy VERI's to consume Veritaseum services. VERI's are divisible and being built on the Ethereum platform and can be bigger than the whole.
Reggie signed the deal with the Jamaican Stock Exchange; the international equities markets dwarfs even the riches of Vitalik Buterin!!!

If I could estimate I would say that good news is pending soon.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: July 18, 2017, 03:43:40 PM

We hit 1:1 with Ether on coin price.

Not only that, it's headed higher. The minor 1.0 sell wall won't last long. Accumulation going on!
The utility of the token is that you can trade it for services from Veritaseum. Reggie has already shown that he will price those services at the market rate for Veri to Ether.
We have extra decimals places for a reason! I think now is the time to dicuss naming the fractional units.

In ether these are specified:
Code:
[b]Unit	Wei Value	Wei[/b]
wei                        1 wei 1
Kwei (babbage)             1e3 wei 1,000
Mwei (lovelace)             1e6 wei 1,000,000
Gwei (shannon)             1e9 wei 1,000,000,000
microether (szabo)   1e12 wei 1,000,000,000,000
milliether (finney)   1e15 wei 1,000,000,000,000,000
ether                   1e18 wei 1,000,000,000,000,000,000

If ether is $100 and 1 ether buys you a tenth of a Veri than Veri = $1000; So then 1 millveri would be equal to one hundredth of an ether (or one buck:$1) and a microveri would be one thousandth of a cent... (or 0.00001 ether).

You can have fraction of my Veri for some of your ethers... Tongue

It was fluctuating between 0.55 and 0.65 all the time and now this?
Correct. We have been consistently above the ICO price. The pull back measured in dollars was due to Ether's correction. Measuring VERI in Ether shows a lot more stability.
I believe we will be at parity shortly.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: VERITASEUM DISCUSSION THREAD on: July 14, 2017, 05:41:39 PM
You don't have a patent, you just filed an application for one (which won't be granted since Goldman Sachs got his). If they decide to take you to court for violation of intellectual property rights, it will take years for the justice to rule out. In the meantime veritaseum will be dead in the water.
Trash talking Newbie's can go to the back of the line. Reggie and Veritaseum have an extensive track record that speaks for itself. The recent pullback is still almost 20x the Etheruem ICO price. We are only basing for the next leg higher. The P2P technology works; I've used it. The new services are the impetuous to buy VERI. Get 'em cheap now as we are going to exceed 1-1 Veri/Ether this year.

Anyone else who is unsure of what Veritaseum is should start at the beginning of this thread to catch up.

For public infrastructure and I am comparing Veritaseum to the National Highway system, these expected rules are what allow businesses to operate upon them, individual drivers to make their livelihood by commuting and, pleasure seekers to take weekend sight-seeing drives.
The value of vehicles utilizing public infrastructure is NOT tied to the extant of that infrastructure. It can increase as the infrastructure expands, and the key contributor of value of the vehicles is how they utilize the rules of the road. There may be weight limits for bridges, and height limits for tunnels.

The utility of a vehicle will have to match the infrastructure. Innovation of vehicles and those who implement them is where the value determination is found. Closing a road for repairs does not instantly devalue all vehicles. Conversely opening a new road does not instantly increase the value of all vehicles. So the marginal value in expansion of the infrastructure is to be found in how vehicles utilize the rules of the road, and the innovation in vehicle design. Building a new road that I never travel on does not bring me benefit, it is an option. Whereas passing a law that allows all vehicles to travel at 90 MPH could be of immediate benefit to me, anywhere. It is the laws that all players utilize that allows the creation of vehicles that benefit those who own them.

Won't Reggies plans to align with stock exchanges solve this problem? I mean, if we can get VERI with dollars and other fiat currencies, that would practically mean ETH is only needed for gas? Or am I seeing this the wrong way?

Ethereum is needed for gas, and access to the distributed blockchain. The financial industry has spent a lot of money building private competing blockchains. The duplicated effort to maintain these separate platforms is an unneeded cost, and exposes the financial industry to a whole host of security implications through security through obscurity. Reggie's work to build Veritaseum will be built upon public access to the blockchain. This is a competitive edge. Just like the walled gardens of AOL, and other early online providers could not withstand the onslaught of the open internet.

Your Porsche Panamera, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, or BMW 7-Series all drive on the same road as a Kia or Fiat. The infrastructure is not a determination of the vehicle's value. The infrastructure guarantees only the rules of the road.

For public infrastructure and I am comparing Veritaseum to the National Highway system, these expected rules are what allow businesses to operate upon them, individual drivers to make their livelihood by commuting and, pleasure seekers to take weekend sight-seeing drives.

All of what we expect from the highway infrastructure, is what allows business and commerce to thrive. We are together building the distributed blockchain system. This endeavor began with bitcoin and continues through ethereum to new tokens like VERI.

Veritaseum is moving fast and the deals they make with legacy institutions strengthen both parties and allow them both to thrive in this emerging economy. The barriers to entry are remarkably low still and your future self will smile knowing you were a part of such a momentous moment in history!

When people wake up and understand the true global ramifications, Bitcoin will seem like the wheel. Right under their noses comes to mind.
Agree and with two Global Stock exchanges in partnership parity with ether is easily obtained. 1/1 in Year One!
