but you got accepteds after the error starts.  once I get that error they display OFF,   I haven't experienced ZOMBIE yet.
and sometimes I just have to restart cgminer, and sometimes I have to unplug/plug the stick and restart cgminer.
I did find that they run better when I have a separate cgminer for each stick.

I have the same here, when they go zombie, I quit and than restart and it works again, some times I have to turnoff the hub and turn on again.

I just have tried with 100 mhz, and the problem persists!
I'll try running different cgminer for each stick!

And actually I can run each one at 250mhz! working with no hardware errors!

So I did, running 2 sticks in different cgminers at 250mhz for more than 14 hours without a break, itīs definitely the solution. No problem here.

So my guess itīs the 2 pack stick going zombie or off, itīs a matter of driver or cgminer bug!

Itīs definitely not a problem with the hub!

Interesting.   Looks like both cases are windows based.   I was previously looking into a write error issue with my hub that only happens in windows and not in linux.   I shelved it since it seemed isolated, but will revisit it in a bit to see if I can spot anything else.

I have also tested in a Virtual Machine with Linux, and I got the same problem, but in this case, I don't know if itīs valid for a Vmware Virtual Machine!

NICE!
what's your voltage at?
also what is your cgminer version?  I grabbed 2 of them, to see if there was a difference, so I have 495461c and b682468

I haven't checked the voltage, but Iīm always changing it when I change the frequency.
I can't say either the version of mine, where do I check that? I have build my own using a Linux

I know this issues was already reported in here, but I haven't seen any answer!
So , I got 2 sticks running on a USB powered hub (48w).

The sticks are running fine at 200mhz, but after some time, the stick number 2 goes zombie!

Has anyone found a solution?

I know mine are very finicky

I have 4 on a superbpag, which is 10W per port
Mine will run at 175MHz for a day with no issues, and then they disable and list as OFF. Then I just restart the .bat and they run again.
voltage is kept the same, frequency doesn't seem to matter. 100 - 175, sometimes they run for 5mins, sometimes over 2 days.

 [2017-07-05 12:00:48.203] GSD 0 attempted reset got err:(0) LIBUSB_SUCCESS / LIBUSB_TRANSFER_COMPLETED
[2017-07-05 12:01:57.468] GSD 0: Device failed to respond to restart
 [2017-07-05 12:01:57.562] GSD 0 failure, disabling!

Using 32bit XP, laptop

as far as your hub,  I would focus on how much per port you can get reliably, not the total power rating of the hub.  ZOMBIE may be the cause of too little power per port.
my 175MHz at ~1.45V is around ~7.5-8W per device,  and I think I might be pushing it.  Mine are also 2nd hand off of eBay, so that could be an issue also.

Well if this is an issue with power of the hub lowering the frequency should fix the problem! I'll try lowering the frequency and check. But it looks like my problem is the same as yours!

I can ran 1 stick on the hub with 300mhz, but I can't run 2 sticks with more than 225mhz

is it possible to specify different frequency for each device?

Example 2 devices (2pac bm1384) 1 wtih 230 and another with 300 mhz on the same pool with same worker?

Does anyone got more than 300mhz on the stick?

Is it possible?

Let me do a newbie question, please sorry if it's a too dumb question.

Would it be possible to change the firmware ( or something else ) of the 2Pac GekkoScience to mine with a different algorithm? Like Scrypt?
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: June 08, 2017, 04:32:31 AM
I'm having some issues with a 2Pac, wondering if anyone has any ideas...

Was working fine; PC rebooted unexpectedly, and now I cannot get cgminer to recognize it. (have tried multiple PCs, fresh installs, etc.)
-Green light stays illuminated
-Windows recognizes device - shows in devices and printers
-when i run cgminer.exe -n, it finds device, and lists as GekkoScience 2PAC Bitcoin Miner
-when cgminer.exe is run either via batch or just launching the executable - always states 'No devices found'  (cgminer build is confirmed working with other 2Pacs)
-have verified and re-installed winUSB driver via zadig 2.3
-checked with mutimeter - pulling 0.02a, 5v, 0.217w

any ideas or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
CJ

Hi, just to clarify! You have 3 Sticks, 2 are working in the same Computer and with the same Cgminer (VH's) version, but 1 stick is not working? is that so?

Hi Guys, How about this Orico Usb3.0 60w  5A Usb Hub with 13 ports?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/ORICO-60W-12-Ports-USB-3-0-Hub-including-3-BC1-2-Charging-Port-and-4/32774929010.html

Iīm planing to connect 3 sticks(2 pac BM1384) and a USB Fan.

Also for me, living in Brazil, itīs easier to buy in aliexpress than amazon (they donīt ship to Brasil most of products)

I have that exact hub, and am having all kinds of stability problems (miners won't run for more than six hours without going zombie). See the main 2pac support thread for details. Don't know if it is related to the hub, but if I were starting over again, I would be looking at something else.

I Think this usually means that in sometime there was not enough power to run them, so they  went zombies. Try lowering frequency in 10 or 20 mhz, and lower just a little bit the VCore, and see whatīs happen.

Actually you made me think that in my house, I have a really unstable power source, it usually loose power in a flash moment, these kind of thing would make the sticks goes into zombie mode!

Smiley So I just have a entire night mining with my 2pac BM1384, it works great.

I would like to ask, Iīm running it at 260mhz (havn't measured the voltage, but is as low as it can be) The stick is pluged into my Notebook USB Port, does that means that my notebook usb port can deliver around 2A?
Isn't that too much for a non powered USB Hub?

Another question is, what's the ideal temperature of it? I'm measuring around 50š Celcius(at the dissipator) with my home made Computer Fan
What about HW errors? Likely you are getting a lot of hw errors and bad shares due to that. Ideal temps is anything below 90 Celsius imo, any air over the miner is good below 300 mhz. USB 3 is only capable of .9A on laptops so I am betting that the miner is not truly running as it should at 260mhz.

HW error are near 0, and invalid share next round was 0% of 1,298 valids.
Maybe I have lucky ith this notebook, On my PC, I can't run nothing more than 100 mhz!

(Actually I tried to post an image)

USB 3.0 is sketchy with the Compac and 2Pac sticks, so try sticking to USB 2.0 hubs. I did some looking around on the aliexpress site and came up with this one:
https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/LVSUN-120W-5V-24A-10-Port-USB-Charger-HUB-USB-3-0-Chipset-with-Data-Transfer/32640377816.html

You can put the two 2Pac miners in the 2.4A USB Hub ports (there are four total data ports) and you can plug the fan into one of the other non-data ports.

It's not cheap, but then his current ports that also pass data are kind of odd and are scarce.

Cheers,

- zed

Hum itīs nice, I havn't found this brand before, seems pretty good.
But for the price range, I think the Orico 20 Ports 300 Watts itīs a best deal: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/ORICO-30-Ports-Industrial-USB2-0-Hub-for-TF-SD-U-disk-Data-Test-Batch-Copy/32812709736.html

I Was Wondering, a 10 Ports hub like this: http://www.orico.cc/goods.php?id=6225
With a 12V3A power, this mean a 36Watts, How this Watts are distributted to ports?

36Watts means 7.2A in a 5V, but are each port limited to an Amperage? or if you connect 3 ports only, those Amperes will be splited into these 3 ports?

Step 1 - download VH's cgminer from the 2Pac thread. It's got better support for Compacs as a side effect of the 2Pac being built from the original Compac design.

Step 2 - learn a bit more about what the volt-setting pot does. Also look into what the default operating frequenc is if you don't specify one; this is software-dependent.

Step 3 - Windows 10 sucks and you should probably get rid of it.

Thanks a Lot, Itīs working now, I have compiled the VH's Cgminer, it works fine. I managed to compile it for windows and itīs working either, with the excpetion that in my PC I canīt manage to get it working with more than 100MHZ, might be some low power USB problem.

Step 3 - Windows 10 sucks and you should probably get rid of it.

bwahahaha, can't say I disagree, but then I do own multiple machines from the fruity company, so I guess that's an altogether different issue.

Back on topic: @zumpbond2000 do what sidehack suggested and load VH's new cgminer; plug the Compac into a USB2.0 port (they don't like USB3 ports); get a good powered USB hub; get a small fan to cool the Compac to ensure a long life.

Regarding the USB hub and cooling fan, search back through this thread for some suggestions for both. There is at least one other thread for powered USB hubs, too.

Thanks a lot, probably Iīll get rid of this hub shit I have, itīs a non expensive shit! Good setup , Iīll be looking into that thread to more info of next USB HUB I will be buying!

1) Hi Guys, I have a shit HUB, powered with 3A (at least in specifications), when I plug my Gekko directly in notebook port, I can mine at 200 mhz fine, but when I plug into that Hub, it even donīt start to Mine. Can I throw it away?

2) Another question, is it preferable a 3.0 USB hub or a 2.0 USB Hub?
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: May 31, 2017, 06:21:38 PM
Hello, I need help! I Just bought a GekkoScience Compac BM1384, but Iīm facing a lot of problems.

Letīs start saying it doesn't work under Windows 10, both with CGminer or BFGminer. For otherwise CGminer worked few times in windows. (Cgminer 4.9 built by Novak)

Well, Under Linux I got it working in my notebook (Direct Connected to USB Port) (Build my own 4.10 Version). But it haves a really low Hash Rate compared to others people report. Iīm reaching an AVG 500 MH/s
Now, the strange thing, BFGMiner wonīt work on linux even by adding -S compac:/dev/ttyUSB0 which points to my Miner, but this command actually make my miner flash the blue led all the time, which means itīs point to the right place, now the funny thing, if I mess around with the voltage screw (to be more precisely, when I set it to the point between 0.5V and 0.9, I mean, this is the point where nothing is set) while bfgminer is ruinng, it does start mining!

Ok now the hash rate under BFGminer is much bigger, itīs under an AVG of 5 Gh/s, some times it reachs 11 Gh/s and even 20 GH/s. But also it does a lot of heat, (Measured 75š Celcius or 167 šF)

Iīve tried to connect a USB powered HUB, with less success  than before, Both CGMiner or BFGMiner won't recognize it unde Linux or Windows.

Iīm facing Hardware problems?
