I think the reason is Ripple needs to hold a small amount of XRP as the reserve. So you are not able to send the remaining XRP. It's a tiny amount. I don't need the .00125 BTC back. I think each miner has a different cost structure. So some miners are still profitable, even though the whole industry may not be lucrative.
