John McAfee: Bitcoin is Not a Bubble, It Will Continue To Grow

In direct contradiction to Blockstream's aims to move transactions and usage offchain:

the value of bitcoin is linked to the number of users and number of transactions

As the bitcoin network grows the value of bitcoin grows.

I am not a core supporter or WuVer coin fanboy. I am neutral.

Price = intrisic value + discounted future value (aka belief)
So price mostly (95%+) = belief for _all_ coins on this day

Neutral is smartest for those who can. Good on you Wink

Will bitcoin core team join bitcoin cash team if the value keeps rising?

I think should they ask to join the answer is guaranteed to be "No"
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin marching to $5000, any hope to altcoins? on: August 14, 2017, 10:28:42 PM
I noticed that while Bitcoin is go up with $3200,3300,3400 and 3500: altcoins are dumping? So if Bitcoin will reached 4000 my altcoins will dump more??

So what will happend to my previous altcoin bags from DCR at 15sats, STEEM at .008 , SC at 600sats.. All of them are -50% down. All of them are bought during Bitcoin correction last May-June 2017

Is there any hope from my bags? Should I sell all my altcoins to Bitcoin?

I appreciate any advice. Thank you

I think you are misreading the situation.

While btc has been slugging along reflecting fund flows into the crypto space in general, some established coins have gone up 3 or 400% in btc terms since August 1st.

Not sure how you interpret this as "altcoins dumping"??  Grin
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: why altcoins are crashing again ? on: August 14, 2017, 05:07:25 PM
So what do you think, what coins should we buy so that the future can be big? Maybe you all can share

NEO, OMG and PAY are examples. By holding half of my coin hold in these between Aug 1st and today I doubled the total number of btc I had. I'm not promoting them btw, just saying what these did for me.
6  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculators - at what price will you sell? on: August 14, 2017, 04:38:15 PM
This is a question for speculators, not hodlers.
Hodlers never sell!!!

Speculators - what is your selling price? When will you take profits in this price spike, if you haven't already?

I think the price is rising much faster than many think, and will easily be over 5k by Friday.
My guess is 8k is the peak, before a significant correction (perhaps taking it down as far as 2k, based on past volatility).
So by that reasoning, and given the severe volatility likely at the peak, I reckon sell at 6k in this price spike.

What do others think?

Not at a given price but on a date: Aug 20th
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: The biggest bitcoin crash ever has begun. on: August 13, 2017, 10:44:28 PM
After the biggest pump in the history of Bitcoin we are now witnessing the biggest crash crypto has ever seen.
This will be epic and popcorn worthy.

Well that's bit premature.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: To Buy BCH or not to Buy BCH? on: August 05, 2017, 01:10:29 AM
I see BCH price is around 0.094 BTC at time of writing. I am considering to buy some. I hope the price will raise because of all the media attention.

What do you guys think buy or not buy?

Odds are it will go much lower before adoption begins and it starts rising.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2017-08-01 Coinbase/GDAX Biggest Crypto Fraud in history? on: August 04, 2017, 12:07:43 PM
so coinbase/gdax didnt gave out bch or bcc to btc holders...so where did the bch/bcc went ? to coinbase pocket?

is it the biggest robbery/fraud in crypto history?
I want to know if gdax and coin base are one of the exchanges who support the Bitcoin Cash currency, if they are then I believe that they should hand outbitcoin cash to those who had bitcoins in their wallet at the time of the split.

Coinbase/GDAX are part of the Digital Currency Group, a conglomerate that includes Blockstream/Core. They are virulently opposed to Bitcoin Cash, as they are to any attempt to scale up Bitcoin.

A funny thing happened on the way to the bullion market:

Provident Metals had stopped taking Bitcoin as payment!  That was a shock, so I had to open an account with jmbullion.com who still did.  I have not checked back with Provident to see if they have changed their minds, but for whatever reason they stopped taking BTC

Interestingly, you used to receive the max discount for using bitcoin on JM Bullion (same as paying with check or bank transfer), but now it's more expensive to pay with BTC there lol.  So bullion dealers no longer like people paying with BTC for whatever reason even though they stated people who purchased using bitcoin spent more money than normal customers.

That is what everyone should be focusing on

The level of maturity is impressive. I'm sure this kind of behaviour will entice high net worth individuals to put a sizeable portion of their savings into BTC

... sleazy shilling dressed up as logic ...
This is great news for bitcoin.
You know they're getting desperate when they send for Peter R.

He was right, though.  The fact that BCH has fast difficulty adjustment and bitcoin doesn't while the Chinese control most of the hash power is gonna be mega-problems for BTC.  I imagine all BCH has to do is NOT DIE and it will cause Luke Jr to be forced to fork BTC to change difficulty adjustment.  Since BTC is now forced to fork, people will probably want a bunch of other changes like PoW algo change as well.  It's a real can of worms here.

Please not another fork  Grin
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why bash Bitcoin Cash? It might be the future of Bitcoin. on: August 03, 2017, 08:20:43 PM
People are just afraid BCH will ruin the value of their BTC holdings and will do anything to resist it. But if they can see the whole picture they will understand BCH is good for BTC and their holdings.

Just hold your BTC and BCH and you will come out on top.

Wise words

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why bash Bitcoin Cash? It might be the future of Bitcoin. on: August 03, 2017, 05:03:44 PM
Seriously, I've been following everything related to bitcoin and its forks for quite a long time. When it comes to specification of Bitcoin Cash, it seems like the future of Bitcoin to me, no dangerous Segwit, thus more secure, no centralization like with Bitcoin Core, adjustable blocksize cap, less fees. The most dangerous thing about the current bitcoin is the segwit that might hurt the currency really hard and also November hard fork that might not even happen. It's backed by Chinese miners that can push it anytime and they won't let it crash. Bitcoin Core devs have basically diverged from Satoshi's description of the Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash and are pushing it in the way it wasn't intended.

I'm even playing with an idea just to change all BTC to BCC when it hits low, because I see the future in Bitcoin Cash, because in my opinion it's technically better and the current Bitcoin won't be able to become a mainstream currency anytime soon, but everything is mostly solved already in Bitcoin Cash.

To be clear, I've invested in Bitcoin in the past and been holding BTC and BCC in 1:1 ratio since the fork and never even thought about selling BCC. It was really laughable how everyone was saying that they had been going to sell it at the earliest opportunity. It seems more like people here are AFRAID of Bitcoin Cash SUCCESS for some reason. And remember the ideology BS between developers of Bitcoin Core and people standing behind Bitcoin Cash.

I'd like to hear others' opinion on this matter, why do you think that currency X wins or what could possibly happen in the future?

Many people (some good, some bad) have invested too much emotional capital in supporting the line fed to them by Blockstream. Even when confronted with facts it will be hard for them to accept they were wrong and used all this time.

Egos aside, that first 4.7Mb BCC block was a thing of beauty. Even crippled as it was, that network managed to process all waiting transactions in one fell swoop. Woooosh :-)
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL: Bitcoin Price In 5 Years on: August 03, 2017, 03:51:04 PM
It creeps me out when I read things like they are 100 percent certain.

I wouldn't worry about it, people who deal in certainties only make themselves look ridiculous.

Most here know that

Enjoy the volatility Wink

Not so much because I find it quite unpredictable this time  Grin
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL: Bitcoin Price In 5 Years on: August 03, 2017, 02:37:07 PM
I've put $100 hoping I will be wrong. But if some ppl at Core don't start putting their house in order and stop Blockstream in it's tracks, I believe that is what will happen.

Since 2013 the underlying value of btc (about $250 as per some smart improvement on QTM made by someone in this forum) is practically unchanged compared to the huge price rises. This thing has been running on fumes for a long time.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 03, 2017, 02:22:57 PM
Has anyone put any low ball bids on the books?

If so how low did you go ?  Grin  is $1-10 range too cheeky 😂😂😜🤔

(And what's anyone's  very highest ask on the books for the next 48 hours that they semi expect to get filled?)

I did (~$1) but failed to get them, the dust needs to settle. This is not as straightforward as I expected, and neither is btc.
