1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My RX580 is confusing me. How to fine tune it? on: March 07, 2020, 01:38:26 PM
Hey adaseb, thanks for replying, sorry I couldn't respond sooner.

I'm not paying for electricity. Out of curiosity I asked my grandfather (he is paying) how much would 150w cost me 24/7, and surprisingly it's aroud 3$ per month, so he told me to chill and mine as much as I want, it doesn't break the bank. 0.04 cents / kWh, plus in my country (Serbia) there is this thing called "cheap electricity" for about 8h during late night hours, when electricity is very close to being free.

After lowering the memory voltage from 950 to 850 I notice 2 things. Significantly less rejected shares (2/24h instead of 6/24h) and, now I'm getting crashes. Finally. At least I know my GPU will crash the system if something's wrong. I was mostly concerned that it wouldn't crash, but rather just burn the whole PC down to the ground Cheesy. I now guess it needs a little bit more juice, since it crashed about 24h after I let it mine with such low voltages.

I'm actually trying to find the sweetest spot possible for this GPU. I can't really settle for good enough because my OCD kicks in and drives me crazy. Until I hit that 1mV and 1MHz spot where going up for only 1 would cause problems, I guess I wont stop... My goal is to stay above 30MH/s, and currently it's ticking @30.3MHs @80w. I guess it can't be improved much at this point but I need to satisfy my OCD demons Cheesy

I'll be getting some more cash soon and I plan on buying another GPU to put in my system. Thankfully I don't have to change the MOBO yet since mine already has, I think, 5 PCI-e slots. Only problem that's holding me back now is my PSU. All the SATA ports are used up and I'm not sure if powering 2 GPUs through 2 peripheral rails is a good idea. Sounds like it'll blow up in smokes to me. I'm scared enough having 1 GPU connected to peripheral sata > PCI-e already. So I'm afraid I'd have to blow 100$ on a new PSU instead of another RX580. I've seen people running it on a single 8PIN PCI-e without plugging the 6PIN one? How good of an idea is this for mining?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / My RX580 is confusing me. How to fine tune it? on: March 04, 2020, 02:47:39 PM
Hello bitcoin forum! Haven't posted here in a while...

I have recently bought my "new" gaming PC. Parts are used so, it's not new, but it's new and beefy for me.

MOB: MSI Z77-G55A
RAM: 8GB DDR3 Patriot
CPU: i5 2500K
GPU: RX580 8GB (Sapphire Nitro+, samsung)
SSD: Patriot 250GB
PSU: beQuiet! Dark Power Pro 10

Parts costed me ~400$ total. Since I was caught in some deep shit with drugs, lost my gaming and mining PC to it, I was finally able to overcome that and I'm making a slow but steady comeback.

I figured I could mine and trade a little bit until I make back 100$ which is how much my GPU costed me, and I'm planning to buy another one, and make a Gaming + Mining PC all-in-one. I mostly just write code on my PC, and my GPU has been mining for about 2 weeks now and I'm happy with its performance. This specific model runs pretty cold for an AMD polaris card (or is it polaris, I'm kind of losing track with all these GPU releases in the past couple of years...)

I'm mining ethereum solo with good ol' claymores software through nicehash, where I also trade other crypto, make 1000-2000 satoshi here and there mostly for fun, but who knows Smiley

Only thing I can't seem to figure out is the most optimal clocks for mining. I know I can't use furmark, ashes of the benchmark or other GPU stressers because gaming and mining are not the same. I'm getting around 6-7 rejected shares / 24h and I'm not sure whether this is OK. My current mining mode OC is:

MEM: 2100MHz @ 850mV
CORE: 1108MHz @ 850mV
Mode is also changed to compute in adrenaline. No bios mods have been done. Guy who sold me the GPU was also using it for mining and he took good care of this puppy.

I have figured that increasing only memory clock doesn't doo much unless I bump core clock a little bit too. My default mV for memory is 950 which I use to play games with, and I used this mV to mine until today, I have lowered it to 850mV and it feels the same (but 95w to 77w baby, that's money right there!)

How do I know if things get unstable? My previous 6x 1050ti rig would just completely freeze the OS. Their memory clock would easily bump to max because nVidia, so I only had to tweak core clock to find a sweet spot... But with this card I don't get no crashes / bsods, rejected shares ~6/24h with any voltages and clocks I've tried so far, I'm not sure how I can fine tune this to the max.

Also, one last question, this asshole sold me his "modular" psu with only mobo, cpu, and 2 peripheral cables. So I had to buy some shitty sata > 6pin and 8pin pci-e to hack my way into making my GPU run. Anyone has any idea where I could buy cables for my PSU (don't wanna pay 100$ for cablemod when I could get a brand new PSU for that money). I don't want to resell this PSU to anyone in this state (and I'm planning on replacing it in the future), and it's a pretty quality PSU so if I could get the missing cables for cheap that'd be a BOMB.

Thanks for reading, share your thoughts and opinions, everything is welcome! Have a nice day!
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / I'm done with altcoins on: May 26, 2018, 09:47:51 PM
What's the point of altcoins? Doesn't decentralization mean that everyone can join and work on the project regardless of anything? So why aren't some of the greatest minds, like Vitalik or Charles working on improving bitcoin? Why do we f!@#$ng have 1600 crypto currencies in the space? I only see ads with "hello we built this awesome currency that does this and does that" for what? We already have bitcoin! I know it's old and rusty, but that's why you develop, and that's why you rework.

I'm a developer myself. I have re-built my game from ground up three times now. Just because I wrote it badly, doesn't mean I have to release it and not put anything new because I'd completely break it. I'm sure there are workarounds, even if we have to fork the coin, and start from scratch.

But instead, we have groups of people who fork coins and state that they are doing something awesome, while they aren't. And we ended up with 169 different bitcoins, and 1400 other (bit)coins as well, which is really hurting my feelings.

And now we even have companies like bitmain, who, in my honest opinion have completely destroyed the whole concept of decentralization.

My take on all this fuss is that, crypto is in a really bad position. Don't get me wrong. The technology IS revolutionary. It's just that humanity is just not ready yet for such a thing, as greed and selfishness are still ruling our realms.

And by the looks of it, I don't think humanity will ever be ready for this.

It's all about the fucking money. And if someone tells me otherwise, I'm sorry but I'd really slap him.

Thanks for reading!

ETC will still be mineable after PoS.

Yeah, but not with graphics hardware. That's what I meant
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1050ti Ethereum Mining Rig on: July 30, 2017, 09:07:35 AM
1050ti is best bang for buck atm. For the price of one 1060 you can get  two 1050ti. You don`t, however, get the double hashrate on 1060. Not to mention 1070. What concerns me, though, is when the DAG will become too big for 4gb cards...

That shouldn't concern you. ETH will be PoS before DAG Buffer reaches 4GB, so mine while you can Smiley

And there is always Zcash, with the right overclock settings , my Gigabyte GTX 1050 ti reaches easily +1000 memory and +65 core, while lowering temperature limit to 72 degrees and does about 189 Sol/s per second.

So with the milosx data he should be able to pull 6.xx dollars in a day as the picture below shows for the actual moment with the settings I suggested.

Which miner software are you using to mine ZEC?

Great job milosx7, it save me money on buying expensive psu and 700w instead, energy saving..
Btw where do u live? u have decent living standard and dirty cheap electricity!

Im from Serbia. Not as great living standard, but 0.04$ per kW/h Smiley
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1050ti Ethereum Mining Rig on: July 11, 2017, 10:28:00 AM
Thanks for this guide.  I picked up 4 of them in the states and getting 15.5+ M/H ETH on the 2 I have hooked up right now.   Waiting on my risers to get here and should be able too pump them hard @ 60c.   @+1000 clock I'm nearly hitting 16 m/h, but the 2nd card on the board is getting too hot 78c while the other stays sub 60c.    Dualing SC doesn't seem worth it so will probably check out DCR and LBRY.    EVGA OC edition if anyone is wondering.   Samsung memory Smiley

Yeah no matter what memory these cards max OC easily. My 6th card wont OC because of my board, as ASRock support said, because it's not meant to run 6 cards. Modifying the bios i was able to run, but guess my 6th card will have to run at 850. Not a big deal, 0.5MH/s more or less. I can only imagine how further will the miners be optimised for Pascal GPUs, who knows. Claymore is doing an awesome work, 94MH/s eth only mining rn with 6 cards

Cards run much hotter and draw more power when dual mining. Right now, eth only mining with this cards is bang for the buck, my system is drawing 400w and it costs me less than 10$ a month of electricity.
With dual mining you pay a little more for electricity, your cards are much hotter, my system draws around 450w when dual, and you pay extra fees to the pool, 1% to dcr pool and another 1% for Claymore. So eth only is best with these cards rn
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1050ti Ethereum Mining Rig on: July 10, 2017, 12:04:28 PM
supposedly new version  ethminer 0.11.0 "Optimized Nvidia mining"  increases mining and you can get like 15-19 MH/s per this gtx 1050 ti card
Can you check this ? i waiting for delivery this gpu.

Read my first post, it's been changed. Claymore's 9.7 gave me like +6 MH/s bonus Cheesy
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.7 (Windows/Linux) on: July 09, 2017, 12:27:55 PM
got some extra juice on my 1050Ti's. Like 1MH/s per card or so Smiley
This is great
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1050ti Ethereum Mining Rig on: July 05, 2017, 09:05:12 AM
Hi all, may some one share with me your config for RIG GTX 1050ti, i wonder mine ETC.

thanks all

You mean the Claymore config, or OC config, or BIOS config? You can find claymore and OC config in my first post.

Is it possible to OC memory greather than +1000MHz? With MSI Afterburner I can go only to +1000 MHz but I thing the memory can go further Smiley

I have found the best clock for my cards on mem to be +850 MHs
You can't go above 1000 on 1050ti however, if you get one with samsung memory it should be stable at 1k surely. Mine isn't samsung. Look for MSI 1050ti, they should OC better.

What setting sinthe bios did you need to alter to get it to work with 6 cards?

I'm looking at buying this board but cannot see a 4G encode option available in the manual for the bios.

Flashed the MB bios to latest, above 4g decoding set to enabled and top to low set to 3.5GB. You can find this in Chipset Configuration i think, in the advanced settings of the BIOS

I have edited my first post right now, added more info that people are asking for there.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1050ti Ethereum Mining Rig on: July 02, 2017, 10:10:03 AM
What memory do you have? i have the same card with micron memory and max clock is 750mhz on memory, anything above and it crashes

Mine is Micron as well.
My core is at 0+ currently, and memory to 900+. I only noticed crashes while doing certain CPU intensive tasks on my Rig, and MSI Afterburner is also freezing a lot. But that's when running 6 cards. Running 2 when I started mining had no problems with Max mem OC and 250+ to core. So yeah I suppose for my next rig I'll be careful to grab GPUs with samsung mem. Since RX 580 8G costs freakin 450$$ here, I'll just grab another 6x 1050ti or 1060 If they are somewhat normally priced it's still better to just get 1050ti and have 1/2 MH/s of the RX 580 which costs 3x more.

EDIT: 450$ for 1060?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh??
what. I'm getting another 1050ti rig then, will post when It arrives

EDIT2: I can confirm that GTX 1050ti Gaming from MSI has Samsung memory, and it's only around 190$. They also have a 6 pin power connector, must be a better overclocker than my Asus card. So I'll grab em see how they OC. I also might start selling my Asus 1050ti as soon as one pays itself off to replace it with the 1060 or 1070 or something depending on how the prices will be in a month or so

Some BIOS settings, Above 4G decoding set to enabled, Top of low drain to 3.5GB.
This fixed me and allowed me to run my PC with 6 cards

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1050ti Ethereum Mining Rig on: June 28, 2017, 01:39:30 PM
Finally was able to make all 6 cards work! I have updated the Hash Rates I'm getting right now. Jesus finally that was a real pain to set up
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1050ti Ethereum Mining Rig on: June 27, 2017, 01:37:12 PM

Heres my rig. I have built this s#itty case, my uncle is a carpenter so he will make a better one very soon, it's just temporary.
I couldn't get the 6th GPU to run. 5 work fine, but plugging the 6th in the system and powering the rig on, only the fans spin, my keyboard / mouse don't light up, and monitor stays in sleep mode.
Then I am forced to unplug all GPUs, along with the CMOS battery, then plug back only CMOS after 2-3 minutes and power the RIG, configure the BIOS, turn off the PC, plug 5 of my GPUs back in and it's working.
I have contacted ASRock to see if this can be resolved.
Anyone here however has any idea what's causing this?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1050ti Ethereum Mining Rig on: June 27, 2017, 10:41:39 AM
Nice, I started a rig based on your:

- MSI Pro Solution Intel Z170A LGA 1151 DDR4 USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard
- Intel G4400 3.3 GHz LGA1151
- Kingston HyperX FURY Black 4GB 2133MHz DDR4 Non-ECC
- Corsair  RM1000x, 80Gold
- ASUS Geforce GTX 1050Ti 4GB ROG STRIX OC Edition [x3]

Cost: 956$

Planning to order 3+ when the first got shipped. I'll update and share the performance too.

The PSU is an overkill. I doubt these GPUs can drain more than 600w under full load along with all the other components. But yeah you can always sell em later and invest the money you mined into 1070. 1070 is a monster for ZCash mining. ETH too, I've seen 32MH/s on a card on youtube, then your 1000w PSU wont be an overkill. All in all, I couldn't get the 6th GPU to load. At first my PC wouldn't start and I had to do various configuration in BIOS, disable and modify lots of options... If you can help me get the 6th GPU running you can. However I will be looking on a fix online for today, I was very busy yesterday getting the rig to run and got tierd. So my job for today is to get the 6th GPU to run, and see whats the max OC i can get with them.

Hii
I have 2*gtx 1060 3gb GPUs and planning to add 5 more gtx 1050ti 4gb. I'm using Windows 10 anniversary update for gtx 1060 GPUs. So will it be possible to mine that gtx 1050 ti using Windows 10 anniversary?

I think you can add whatever card you want. You MIGHT have troubles getting them to load, but It's possible. You can even mix AMD and NVIDIA cards, I've seen it on youtube, so mixing only NVIDIA cards should be quite easy to accomplish. But yes, you can do that.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1050ti Ethereum Mining Rig on: June 24, 2017, 01:34:19 PM
So you get about 165 sol with max overclock on ZCash?

And what is your profit on ETH + Sia?

I have JUST NOW received 4 more cards, waiting for risers.
I will update you on my monthly profits as soon as I set everything up and running smoothly
I have 3 cards in my system now (I cant fit anymore without risers)
Currently getting 41 MH/s on ETH and 410 MH/s on Sia.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1050ti Ethereum Mining Rig on: June 24, 2017, 10:28:51 AM
Should i mine on claymore? I am currently mining on genoil.
I won't dual mine and if i do dual mine, how much + am i looking to earn + if i had the same mh/s/gpu power as you do?

Greetings.

Welp, I sacrificed 1 MH/s on ETH, which is -5$ / month, and got +20$ a month with Siacoin. So it's very worth it.
