1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How do you manage all your cryptocurrency investments? on: October 30, 2017, 06:53:10 AM
Hi,

I currently hold like 15 coins and uses 4+ brokerage platforms. I would like to have a better overview of what I'm holding, the value of each investment etc. in one place.

Any recommendation would be helpful!

Thank you.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What websites do you use as a cryptocurrency enthusiast/investor/trader? on: October 29, 2017, 03:49:23 AM
Hi Everyone, would love to hear what websites you use daily/weekly/monthly as a cryptocurrency enthusiast/investor/trader and why the chosen ones?

Thanks, loads!

I use many sources including coinmarketcap (look closely at market cap data), coingecko (concisely summarizes development activity), coin telegraph (for industry wide trends), forbes, btcmanager, themerkle, twitter accounts of respected industry professionals, e.g. Charles Lee, Roger Ver and my most important source is this bitcointalk forum. There is a wealth of information here especially if you read messages posted by Hero and Legendary members.

I also look closely at charts to time entries and exits.

Great thanks a lot for the details! If you use many exchanges to buy/sell, how do you manage and track your investments?

I do not use a single website but can follow multiple websites like cointelegraph, cryptoinsider, cryptocoinsnews, coindesk etc.

Thank you for the reply. Besides monitoring the news, how do you keep track of your cryptocurrency investments?

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How do you choose what cryptocurrencies to buy when there are so many options? on: October 14, 2017, 06:20:25 AM
Currently working on a web application that will help cryptocurrency traders with what cryptocurrencies to buy and how to allocate between each cryptocurrency. But before I start building, I would like to really understand your workflow (e.g you discover a coin through a friend, check market cap, buy) and what web applications you use to assist you buying and allocating cryptocurrencies.

Thank you in advance I'm hoping to create something that will really help you out in the future!

Currently working on a web application that will help cryptocurrency enthusiast with what cryptocurrencies to invest in and how to allocate between each cryptocurrency. But before I get too far ahead of myself and start building something, I wanted to see if other shares the same problems.

I voted for too many options and it has a lot of vote on your poll. This is the problem that every trader is dealing with, we do have a lot of choices and we always think that all of the mare good for investing.

I'm a type of person that sees opportunities for everything that's in my sight and most of the coins does have it except the ones that are really garbage in the world of crypto.

Anyway, good luck to that app that you are building hoping you'll give us some update and will love to use it then.

Thanks for the feedback! how do you see traders current workflows and what is missing to help them to sort through "too many options"?

As the main problem is the variety of options, I guess it would be nice if your app dealt with that somehow. For instance, maybe there should be a system of rates for currencies (like rates for films) which will show how many people consider it as a good investment. Apart from that, perhaps very small guides about currencies would be appreciated, because there's mostly not enough time to look at dev teams, roadmaps and white papers of all the coins that look promising.

That sounds quite interesting your idea! Any current web apps resemble this?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What is your 3 most important factors when deciding what cryptocurrency to buy? on: October 12, 2017, 07:29:07 AM
Hey Everyone,

Would love to hear what factors motivate you to buy a particular cryptocurrency.

Examples:
- Team
- Idea
- A lot of people talking about the coin
-.....

Thanks!

I voted for too many scams, let's speak the truth here, it is really hard to trust this ICOs ( which you can see that almost daily they are posting on altcoin announcement thread) I'll trust them if they can create a signature campaign that pays Bitcoin. With that step i think they will gain the trust from the investors.

sorry for the offtopic but first this:

What do you mean "that pays Bitcoin"?

and now on topic:

This is cool idea, I think the most big problem is that there are not easy accessible wallets for the altcoins, so you can have the private key.
This is the biggest problem for me, as I can not trust exchanges with my coins, and it is hard to make wallets for all the altcoins.
So this is the biggest problem for me. Also not small problem is the scam that comes with new alts...

But this idea is really cool and I hope you develop it good.

P.S.: IDK why but can not vote on the pool Wink

Thanks for the feedback! Would you be willing to create an account on a platform and send your BTC/ETH to this account. Then choose a portfolio from a selection of portfolios and the platform would buy this portfolio for you, manage it, rebalance etc. for a small commission fee (% of your BTC/ETH)? Would there be a way for you to trust your coins on a platform?

You're in a Bitcoin talk forum, basically everyone here knows about bitcoin, the blockchain, the altcurrencies, and other bitcoin related topics. I think the only replies you'll get from here are:

1) Too many options and
2) Too many scams

Because that is what we see everyday. In the announcement forums, we see too many coins launching every second, and too many scams launching every second.

These other options are not very good answers to begin with (in this community):

1) Lack of blockchain knowledge
Only newbies have this problem and newbies can't vote

2) Time Constraint
Well if people had a busy life and time constraints they would not be in this forum

3) Lack knowledge with trading tools
This might apply to some people here as trading even as an intermediate person can still be hard

4) Complications using crypto brokerages
Yeah this is an issue a lot of newbies may face, but again newbies can't vote

Thanks for your feedback you are very much correct and I kept wondering why it was locked for voting, now I understand:). What platforms do you recommend me to reach out to that fits my options?

Can you please give some more info about your service? Maybe teaser about how is it going to work and what technical data you are focusing to analyze currencies?
Tradingview is doing good but needs more authors for cryptocurrencies.

Sure, so I'm still early stage in developing a solution and really want to first hear problems before I make a solution. But here is my idea - I create several kinds of portfolios - Simple one -> holds major cap coins and only rebalance twice a year / -> more advanced portfolio analyzes top 100 coins and picks and rebalances portfolio frequently (maybe bi-weekly etc. depends on backtesting results) / -> Aggressive portfolio focusing on smaller cap coins and more frequent rebalancing.

To analyze currencies: Use technical indicators (Momentum, RSI, MACD etc.), social engagement, GitHub activity, maybe using machine learning techniques (text-mining or K-means clustering). To allocate use own proprietary method.

It is to help people who don't have time to own research but wants to allocate their wealth to cryptos and still wants good returns.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Constraints investing in Alt coins on: October 12, 2017, 02:28:35 AM
Hi Everyone,

I have decided to look into building a software solution for crypto investing after personally experiencing how difficult it's to choose the right Altcoins to buy and how to allocate them correctly when there are so many choices out there.

I would really appreciate it if you would share with me your top 3 constraints/problems you have when deciding what to invest in and how to allocate? (example: lack of trading tools, limited time to study cryptos, too many cryptos etc..).

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Time to buy - question is which coins? on: September 05, 2017, 02:00:53 AM

I invested yesterday after the correction but I feel I should add additional capital to Altcoins. What would you recommend?

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / What to buy? on: August 15, 2017, 11:38:02 PM
Hi Everyone,

I have convinced my family to provide me with a sizeable amount, around $20k and considering how the market is looking, where do you see value?

I currently hold: IOTA, Nimiq, Dent, ETH, BTC, Waves, Lisk, Factom, Verge, Aragon and San

Thank you in advance! ^^
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Where to find value after this new surge? on: August 09, 2017, 01:11:46 AM
Hi Everyone,

So I was stupid enough to buy BTC at $2,000 and sell at $2,300 assuming it could go lower, which clearly didn't work out very well! Based on the latest increase where do you see value in the market: short, med and long term?

My current holdings:
Iota
ETH
Dentcoin
NIMIQ
SAN
Cash ready to be allocated...

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Could see Ethereum price fall to below $100 (coming from a newbie) on: June 15, 2017, 04:28:56 AM
I believe the bubble in ICO will pop at some point and seriously hurt ETH price. Considering taking a short position on ETH. I'm still a newbie with regards to cryptocurrency and could easily be wrong. what do you guys think?
