1  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER ASIC FPGA GPU overc monit fanspd RPC linux/win/osx/mip/r-pi 3.4.3 on: September 17, 2013, 09:50:56 PM
Really? Sad
How about this? Are you able to reproduce this?
Running 3.4.3 but notice now (it seems this issue goes back a few versions) that the accepted blocks field now shows the latest difficulty (x number of blocks found it seems) instead of total block count? Anyone got a fix for this?

Not sure what coin you're mining, but on the bitcoin network, cgminer now shows the number of "diff 1 shares" found for the accepted field.  So, if you're pool has a higher share difficulty, the counter will increase by whatever the difficulty of the associated job was each time a share is found.

That's not a bug.  If you really want the number of actual shares found (even though they are not as useful in a world that is moving towards variable difficulty mining), you can get them from the API.
I would like to point out that there is A BUG ASSOCIATED WITH THAT FEATURE.
And that is, that as soon as the "Number of accepted Shares" reaches 10 Million, CGMiner crashes/stops working. I mine on an LTC-Pool with high difficulty and I have to restart CGMiner on a regular basis to make sure the miner just doesn't stop working because it has reached 10 Million diff 1 shares again.

Is there an "official" way to report bugs or is ckolivas going to read this?
I read it. I read all bug reports - that doesn't mean I instantly respond. It was probably coincidence and an unrelated crash since I went to 50 million shares without a problem. Try a debug build.
Thank you very much!

New debug executables uploaded.

All done and started, now we just have to play the waiting game.

I haven't seen it crash for at least 2-3 days on 3.4.3
Appreciated. That's no problem as no new release is scheduled any time soon unless I find some hotfix bug worth fixing.

I'm currently swamped with other work and probably need a small break from regular cgminer coding anyway.

I've managed to get 750 on all of my 7970s (Gigabyte GHZ editions)

i have been getting temps around 75c, but then again, I put --temp-target 75 so it's working well from what I can tell.
Care to elaborate on your cgminer settings and your MHZ?

What's the highest anyone ever managed to get on avg with a 7970?

Gigabyte Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition

Oh god. Why open the webshop at 21:00? It's like asking for the webshop to be DDoS'd by the customers. Opening should have been at 6 o'clock in the morning or something to make it smooth.

The way it is now is bound to cause problems.

I highly doubt that.

We aren't talking about the whole world ordering new iStuff Smiley
I guess he will have maybe 300-500 customers and that is not hard to handle on the webserver. And BTW the URL is not known, so people won't go there at the exactly same second, but in the order as they receive the email with URL...

OH LOOK ITS 15 PAST 21:00 AND THE WEBSITE IS STILL NOT WORKING BECAUSE OF DDOS BY CUSTOMERS; WHO COULD HAVE GUESSED THAT OMG

Great job at staying on top of the issues here, Doc. Truly impressed at how swiftly and efficiently they're being resolved.
The pool has lost half of its hashrate and has several thousand workers less than a week ago.

"--temp-cutoff" doesn't work for me, my GPU keeps on hashing even above the allowed target temperature.
Code:
cgminer -o pool-de.50btc.com:8332 -u [username] -p [password]  -o http://mint.bitminter.com:8332 -u [username] -p [password] -I 9 --temp-cutoff 70
pause

Anybody got an idea?

I don't remember but don't you need --auto-gpu for that?
Interesting. But what if I don't want cgminer to mess with my GPU clock speed? I just want it to stop if the temp gets too high. Is there a way to achieve that?

13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Improving heat dissipation on MSI 7950's by up to 10° C on: May 06, 2013, 10:17:04 PM
I wanted to make my first post a helpful one, so here goes!

I found a way to drop the temperature of the MSI 7950's by about 10° C. If you are like me and unable to get a hold of any PCIe risers then this a good way to get multiple cards sitting next to each other without overheating.

I'm using the MSI 990fxa-gd65 with 3 x MSI 7950's with each connected directly to the board without any spacing in between and running them at under 70° C each. This is using GUIMiner with the GPU defaults set to 7950 high usage. I get 570-580 k/h per card with default afterburner settings.

Disclaimer: While doing the following does not void your warranty, doing anything with your card could damage it and I can't be liable for that. Be careful, and don't do things you're not comfortable with.

The way to do this is pretty simple, just remove the mounting bracket on each card.

What you'll need: Small pair of pliers, Phillips screwdriver (both a small and medium preferably), plastic zip-lock bag

Step 1: Remove the pins next to the DVI port. Use the pair of pliers to gently loosen the pins and then remove them the rest of the way by hand.
Step 2: Depending on your model you will either have two or three screws on the front. Using the small Phillips screwdriver remove the two screws at the top and the third screw above the HDMI port if you have one there.
Step 3: Using the medium sized Phillips screwdriver remove one final screw on the inside of the bracket near the top where the cross fire ports are.
Step 4: Slide the bracket off and put the bracket along with the screws in the zip-lock bag.

That's it, now your cards will be able to dissipate a lot more heat! For increased cooling if you are using an open case design (e.g., milk crates) then you can now point your fan at the back side of the cards (opposite the end with the display ports) and the air will be pushed through the heatsink and exhaust out the side with the ports.

If I can figure out how to easily post pictures I will. If you have questions just let me know!

If you haven't already done it, you should tilt your computer. Tilt it to the side and you'll notice your GPU temps falling by 5-10°C.

Could be because you set the fee to zero, give it more time.

Hi.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avalon Asic Shippments Batch 2 on: May 06, 2013, 10:07:40 PM
I google for "Avalon Asic Batch 2" every day with a 24hr time period filter on it looking for more information on when Avalon will ship.
To date, they have replied to no ones emails, support issues and requests on posts.

I have to say, not only is this poor customer service, it's just downright lame.

yeah, yeah, I hear all you fools drooling over the unit saying be nice, wait, be patient.

So who thinks this sucks?
If you want customer support or at least even any kind of communication you should have ordered at ButterflyLabs. Unfortunately their "open" approach isn't helping either.

Avalon explicitly stated that "no news is good news" and that they're not going to waste their time with babysitting all customers.

Oh dear.
I wonder if the police report is going to be of any use.
