I'm using 20/42@15m at Bitstamp lately and it has performed very well during those post-rally conditions. I sometimes buy back some BTC gradually during hard crashes (having an option in the bot to do that would be awesome), so I almost doubled my BTC over the last two weeks or so.

It sold at 644 today btw.

Youve kept the bot on 24/7? and double your coins at 15min interval?

No, when buying back manually you have to disable the bot or it will sell all your coins on the next tick.

I would like to try out Butter Bot. Before that, there is an issue I would like to seek advise on.

I would like to have 2 trading channels in BTC-e: bot channel and manual channel.

Right now, I have an existing account with BTC-e, which I am using for manual trading. The problem is that if bot trades with this account, it will interfere with my manual trading.
I thought about having a second account for bot trading. The problem is that with chrome, you cannot login to a second account without logging out from the first account first.

Short of using virtual machine or a second PC, is there any way to have 2 trading channels concurrently on a single PC?

You could try creating a new user profile in Chrome & have a separate Chrome for the second account/user.

The solution works. Thank you!

I wonder why you'd need that, though. The bot doesn't require you to be logged in with the account it trades on. It just needs to have the corresponding API key.

I'm now up around 60% in BTC in the last 2 weeks or so btw., Butter Bot is working really really well for me in combination with buying back gradually during the big dips Cheesy

Hi everyone,

I have my bot setup on BTC-e with 7/15 EMA, and I like where it tends to cross nearby to the peak of the up or low swings when it's set to 2 hours sample rate.

My problem is that when the lines cross, the bot doesn't immediately take action, but rather waits until the next time it looks up to sample, which could be 1.5 hours away- and by then the good price is gone.

So my question is how can I keep the EMA cross points happening in the good places like they do now, while lessening the time it takes between the cross & the transaction?

To make it trade on the crossings you have to set the "1" thresholds to something high negative so that they are always met (e.g. -50) and the "2" thresholds to 0.

I also bought back in gradually for a mean price of 709$ at bitstamp, which means that I made around 45% profit in BTC (which is waaaay more than the bot "lost" during the last weeks' rally before) Cheesy

I usually let the bot do it's thing but it's a trading tool, not a crystal ball or something, so sometimes I risk to interfer with manual trades. Buying back in after sharp drops like that one is one of those cases.

You can increase your BTC holding, you just have to know how to set up the bot and what to expect from normal market activity.

If you had 20k at 130 USD, then you at 900 USD you should have made (in fiat) about 70k to 90k. When it comes back down to roughly about the same level, your bot will then buy BTC and increase your future earnings as it swings up again. Of course this may take months and a very volatile market. The next time (assuming the same level of volatility) you should have alot more BTC than you started with.

Though honestly, if you are looking for short term gains you'd have to look at a BOT that can look at different kinds of indicators and more than 4 thresholds. Hopefully B-Bot development goes down the same path as Haasonline.

I'm looking for longterm profit, i runned the test with different settings and i never got a way where it increase btc holding...
I'll continue testing...

Please note that you are testing configuration over a very long time period. In reality there different phases in the market where different settings work best (e.g longer time frames during slow and steady trends to filter out the small movements, smaller time frames and lower EMA values during triangle formations to catch the breakout ASAP etc) so  real profit can  much higher when you monitor the market and adapt the settings from time to time.

And finally to some (to me at least) running a bot is not only about maximizing profit but also about managing risk. I definitely sleep better knowing that the bot would get me out in case of any unforseen circumstances Smiley

The problem is that the exchange APIs do not allow for withdrawing funds if I'm not mistaken, so all the transfers between the exchanges would have to be done manually. Or am I missing something?

Let me rephrase that.

When a crossover occurs, the way the bot currently works is that you need to hit Threshold 1 and then hit Threshold 2 in order for the bot to either Buy or Sell.

My question is, is it possible to setup the bot in such a way that it will initiate a Buy or Sell when it only hits 1 Threshold (instead of two consecutively). I realize that this is risky since it could buy or sell when there isn't a trend, I was just wondering if it was possible.

Yes, just set the first threshold really low (it also accepts negative values), so for example Buy 1=-5 and Buy 2=0 will practically buy as soon as the EMA lines cross.

Today the bot lost another .2 BTC in an originally 4.5 BTC account. The current remaining values stand at 4.070 BTC remaining.

In a larger account I do manual trading with I gained 1.7 BTC by doing manual trading today. This was only because I was busy with hardware upgrades and was only able to do 1 trade today.

I think this bot by design is not a day trading bot which tries to maximize profit at a higher risk, but rather tries to profit from upswings while minimizing losses when the price goes down. During the last "minicrash" 2 days ago it goy me out at 94.4$ using the 0/0.25% hourly setting. When I got to the PC the price was at 89$, so it saved >6% of my money Smiley

Are your settings too aggressive maybe so that you run into many false positives and keep losing money on transaction fees?
