I want to use this motherboard for mining

Then use ALL RISERS

Once again I am telling this that if I use riser in full gpu slot (8x,x4,x4) slot than It does not recognize it and Currently there are 4 Gpus connected, one is in motherboard.

Other 3 are in risers and are plugged in Pcie 1x slot (The mini slots that we cannot put a gpu on them and these are only 4 in this mother board (one is not usable as it is under main gpu)

So I want to use other full gpu slots for risers but when I plug riser into full gpu slots(8x,4x,x4) than windows does not show any new gpu actually it does not recognize anything new).

You should be able to connect x3 ATI GPU's(x8,x4,x4) without any issue. Please check with MSI. I had a chance to work with this board ..

Let's talk about gaming on this motherboard.

First I was able to crossfire 2 rx 570 but than I removed for some settings after sometime I inserted both into motherboard than in windows there is only one rx 570 showed (Tried Bios Reset ETC).

So currently tried to crossfire one main gpu 570 and 2 other 470 but in windows there is only one gpu shows the main gpu 570 and other 2 does not show and their lights, fan works fine.

AMD Drivers used
Beta Aug 11 and 23
ReLive-17.1.1-Jan16

Is there some issue with windows 10 should I reinstall it or there any problem with this motherboard?

Anyone confirm this motherboard supports 6 gpus? without 4g decoding option? if yes than I will reinstall windows 10 it will be a last try.

you should be using all GPU's with RISERS to mine.

If you want to game with 2 GPU directly into the MOTHERBOARD, reset your bios to factory defaults and get 1 PSU
that will power both cards.

Sorry for misunderstanding

I meant to say that this is a gaming motherboard and it is designed to support 3 GPU directly into the MOTHERBOARD? If yes so why it is not letting me to use 2 crossfire GPU directly? and tried to reset motherboard and also updated to latest bios.

Secondly I am able to use total 4 gpu on this motherboard and the problem is when I put the riser cable to 16x or 8x gpu slot In motherboard it does not recognize it and when I put the riser cable into 1x pcie gpu slot into motherboard It easily recognize it.

So the problem is in this motherboard there are 3 full gpu slots (I mean 16x and other 2 are 8x or 4x do not know exactly) and other 3 pcie gpu slots are 1x.

So also in risers It is not letting me use 6 gpus?

1000watt PSU
Motherboard Z97 Gaming 7
Ram 4 DDR3
SSD
Processor intel G1840

I want to use this motherboard for mining.

It was an example I mean to say is this motherboard is even not letting me to use 2 gpus at the same time for gaming as it is built for gaming there is place for 3 way sli/crossfire in this motherboard.

But one gpu in Motherboard and 3 in risers but in pcie 1x ports it recognizes total 4 gpus and mining works fine but if I put anyone riser cable to the full gpu slot means 16x or 8x gpu slot than it won't recognize that gpu.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / MSi Z97 Gaming 7 Problems on: November 01, 2017, 12:45:06 AM
Hi
Bought a MSi Z97 Gaming 7 Motherboard and want to start 6 gpu mining but.

When i put 2 gpus (Without risers) and want to use it as crossfire it does not show the second GPU? whatever i do in Bios

Pcie Gen 3 three times.
8X4X4
Disabled Audio, Lan, etc
there is no 4G decoding option
Also tried z97 gaming 5 settings
Updated to latest bios Version 1.C (In Bios Shows 1.12)

What works is one gpu into motherboard and 3 Gpus in risers but in Pcie 1x ports when i put any one riser to full gpu slot it does not recognize it.

Please help me.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / MAXIMUS VIII HERO 6 GPUs! on: June 16, 2017, 05:35:41 AM
Hi
Bought MAXIMUS VIII HERO and trying to run 6 gpus.

I started opus by adding one by one gpu 4 gpus works great,

But when I add 5th gpu it does not recognize the 5th gpu and when I exchange cables of 5th gpu to any 4th or 3rd gpu it starts to recognize the the 5th but remove the 3rd or 4th gpu means it only recognizes 4 risers not 5th.

Updated vie internet option to the current bios.

When I enable Above 4g Decoding option in bios pc hangs on startup??

Followed this youtube guy instructions but no effect. He is running 6 GPUs on Asus Maximus Vii so I think it will be possible on Mine Viii Hero?

I believe they are similar, go for the z270 GAMING M5 there is a guide on bitcointalk.org on building a 7 gpu rig on it - . In case you encounter any problems when building the rig you can refer to the link and there`ll be many people on this forum willing to help you. Also don`t purchase a intel kabylake cpu, purchase an intel celeron g3900 skylake cpu or higher.

Thanks but what about
Maximus viii hero
Asus tuf z270 mark2

Are they both will make problems running 6 Gpus and I read for MSi z270 to Run 6 Gpus will need to Custom Mod Bios.

I have not used any of the motherboards you`ve listed but, I have a biostar tb85 and msi z270a pro carbon. The biostar tb85 is easier to set up and is more stable than the msi z270a pro carbon. However the biostar tb85 has 6 pcie slots while the msi z270a pro carbon has 7 pcie slots, but you can use dual gpus such as amd 295x2 or an expansion card to install more than 6 gpus on the biostar tb85.

Thanks for the info but biostar motherboards are not available here and Are these
Z270 GAMING M7
Z270 GAMING M5

also like msi z270a pro carbon?

ROG STRIX Z270F GAMING

Please post which motherboard is problem free, I mean which motherboard will power up 6 cards without any problem or any mining issue and Please also post your experience with any motherboard which you are using.

Thanks Smiley

Ethereum yes, temp at most 77 for a peak otherwise it keeps around 64-68C with max fan speed at 51% when it hits over 72C for those few short times. At the moment only Crimson but with Afterburn it is the same.

Currently not even undervolting but keeps a bit cooler it I does.

Have you modified the bios? if Yes please mention the details as currently my card has stock bios and what is your room temp, my room temp is around 25c to 30c night and in night it is hitting 83c mostly and i am using afterburner with it.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 27 mH ASUS RX 480 STRIX 8GB Ethereum mining BIOS on: June 09, 2017, 08:58:45 PM
Hi
I bought a Asus Strix 480 8GB which is Getting hot on ethereum Mining the highest temp was 89c (with using msi afterburner) which is very hot i think as 480 do not go above 80c? Normally it is hitting 79c to 85c and its temp bounces it is not constant and fans are very load.

So what should i do is it a problem or not? should i get it replaced?

What are you GPU temps like before bios and after bios?

And how i can upgrade the bios and which bios and settings will be perfect as i read your thread.

Thanks in advance and please help me.

I've the same GOU, mine is around 64-77 Celsius, fan between 33-51% and running them Auto. Do you open case or a "normal"? I'm running in a Corsair Cube 540 with 3x120mm fans in front and two 140mm top and one back. Keeps it quite and cool to runt stock or overclocked in Afterburn.

Are you mining Ethereum? and when mining on Asus Strix 480 8gb your highest temp is %51? So are you using Afterburner settings for fans? or nothing catalyst settings.

Forgot to mention that i have not modified the bios yet, still running on default bios So after modifying bios will it bring down the GPU Temp?
