Some tech-savvy wedding-goers are gifting the digital currency to new couples. Honeyfund, a honeymoon registry that allows guests to give cash rather than gifts, has seen more than a dozen customers donate in bitcoin, said chief executive officer and co-founder Sara Margulis. In recent years, more than a dozen customers have chosen to route donations to the site from bitcoin wallets. Zola, a wedding registry website, has had just two cash funds created for bitcoins since 2013, a spokeswoman said. "I would expect it to pop more as millennials come into the wedding age,” Honeyfund’s Margulis said. “It’s something you will do if your friends and family are already into bitcoin.

Bitcoin as an retirement plan, bitcoin to secure the future of your kids, and now bitcoin as a wedding gift. Whether or not bitcoin replaces cash in future, it looks like the trend of gifting bitcoin instead of cash at weddings is definitely going to catch up and more wedding registeries would be adding bitcoin as a gifting option.

Avoid using a wedding gift "as an opportunity to proselytize a technology you personally believe in, but the recipient could not care less about."

People who are not into bitcoin might not appreciate getting a volatile currency as a gift, and might never use it, thus adding it to the list of lost coins, but I think people who are already using bitcoin or would most probably use it in future then bitcoin instead of cash is the apt wedding gift for them.

That is a brilliant idea. I would totally do it. Instead of spending a bomb on my childrens' weddings, I would anyday give them a nice gift. And this would be a sensible gift. They'll be able to use it in the future.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in bitcoins today and be a millionaire in the future! on: August 01, 2017, 10:58:20 AM
http://www.c[Suspicious link removed]m/2017/06/20/bitcoin-millionaire-erik-finman-says-going-to-college-isnt-worth-it.html

Have you heard of the story of a 12 year old kid who wagered with his mom that if he will be a millionaire at age 18 he will not go to college. To his mothers surprise he is now a millionaire and never went to college. His secret he bought bitcoin at 12$ with a 1000 $ gift from his grandmother.

If we also dream of getting rich in the future it is now time to invest in bitcoins. Many said that we will be experiencing bubbles more often, that is true but we have survived it and still bitcoin keeps moving on.

If we want to get rich invest in bitcoins today. The price of bitcoin today is at 2600$ and moving up but imagine its value 5 to 10 years from now.

Whether bitcoin stays or not, whether it helps people make money or not, blockchain tech is here to stay and is going to transform both fintech and non-fintech industries. Blockchain's revolutionary potential is still unfathomable. It might just alleviate more than half of the world's problems.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The reason that keeps me from investing in bitcoin on: August 01, 2017, 10:29:37 AM
Hello everybody.

I would like to invest some money in bitcoin, I don't use that money and I don't need it for the next 2/3 years.
I thought I found in bitcoin the perfect way to invest. BUT when I see the fees applied I don't see how the bitcoin will become mainstream! The fees are around 1mBTC which is approximatively 3$. Therefore what is the point of bitcoin?

The only thing I see : big amount transaction

But bitcoin won't be the money you use to buy your sandwich with those fees!

I saw a post saying: yeah burger king is willing to accept bitcoin in russia. Hopefully mcdonald will follow ! But why would someone pay 3$ fee therefore a third of his burger king menu in fee?

Will segwit may lower the fees?

Thank you Smiley

IOTA is coming up with a system for micropayments and hopefully that will solve the problem of high fees and unconfirmed transactions. It is also based on a technology slightly different from conventional blockchain, and hence it does not have the shortcomings of traditional blockchain networks.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin is the new era of currency? on: July 31, 2017, 01:35:47 PM
Since bitcoin is trending now world wide because you can easily earn this and it exchange in real cash. Is bitcoin the new value of currency in the internet? Is he the new money? Can we use it in buying foods and etc in the future?

Bitcoin is growing bigger and bigger everyday. And bigger than bitcoin is the tech that supports it-- blockchain. Blockchain has many applications and these applications are being explored and developed by techies all over the world. You can still buy stuff with bitcoin, but in the future, there will be even more platforms which will start accepting payment in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: South Korea to Legalize Bitcoin!!!! on: July 31, 2017, 12:14:47 PM
This hot news is currently breaking on all the wires. South Korea is on the verge of legalising Bitcoin. Fill your bags...

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/south-korea-preparing-legalize-bitcoin/

Updates to follow as we receive them...

This is great, only if they don't choke the development with too many regulations. Bitcoin will lose its essence if gets regulated and taxed heavily.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do I need to worry about my bitcoin holding after August 1st? on: July 31, 2017, 11:49:46 AM
I really don't know for sure bro. But I kept on hearing stories about the bittrex that they will give bcc or bitcoin cash to bitcoin hodlers. The ratio of it is 1 is to 1. 1:1. If you have 1 bitcoin then you will receive 1 BCC FOR fREe. Well for me I think that btc are not safe in other online wallets specially when you dont have the priv key.

I totally agree with you. Right now the situation is pretty confusing and it will be little impossible to predict the final outcome. I heard many wallets have seized the accounts and arent allowing any BTCs transactions. Is it true?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The superiority of Bitcoin on: July 29, 2017, 12:06:24 PM
Hey folks! I just wonder, what is with Bitcoin that until now it is still in it's peak and still unbeatable. Has not any one ever invented a new/other currency that matches the value of bitcoin? And if there would be What should it take for a new currency for instance to match the value level of bitcoin? Has anyone here ever thought that a new currency more superior than bitcoin could come out one day and bitcoin value would decrease or fall?

Bitcoin is superior only because its the oldest. There are several promising altcoins which are growing. I personally am a fan of Ethereum.
8  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? on: July 29, 2017, 11:27:30 AM
Personally, if I'm in a coffee shop or any store with some people, I pull out my wallet and subtly show them my Xapo debit card. Then they get curious on what kind of card is that since it doesnt look like the usual Mastercard or creditcard. Then I explain it from there on.

What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? Smiley

My younger brother is working on a cool blockchain project and it'll be ready for launch by the end of 2018. I'll help with the marketing and I'll be one of the first participants in his ICO.  Grin
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: Satoshi Nakamoto Is Dead!!! on: July 29, 2017, 10:49:10 AM
Note: this is a theoretical thread to discuss what would happen to Bitcoin, its price, and fanatics if it was suddenly revealed who is Satoshi Nakamoto and that they are now deceased.

What would happen to:

1. Bitcoin technology;

2. The price of a Bitcoin;

3. How would the community feel.

Discuss.

1. Blockchain is here to stay, bitcoin or no bitcoin.

2. The price might fluctuate.

3. The community's yearning for knowing who Nakamoto is will finally cease. Many would express their gratitude for bitcoin.
10  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-26]ViaBTC Launches Bitcoin Cash, the UAHF Token on: July 28, 2017, 09:21:39 AM
Update: It seems inaccurate to call BCC futures as users already exchange it for cash on ViaBTC and OKEX, so I will stop trying to define it.

ViaBTC abruptly announced on July 22 to support Bitcoin Cash(BCC), a “split” coin of a potential hard fork. After the announcement, Chinese bitcoiners in all of the WeChat groups are asking the same questions: what the hell is BCC? is there going to be a chain split? who is behind it, Bitmain? is it free money or a scam? In this series, we will work to lift the fog and help you learn more about the story of BCC.

What is Bitcoin Cash?

Bitcoin Cash, or BCC is the token to Bitcoin ABC, a scaling attempt trying to push for a bitcoin hard fork. The “ABC” part stands for Adjustable Blocksize Cap suggesting that users can determine the big blocksize accordingly. Bitcoin ABC includes many changes, including a dynamic difficulty adjustment where difficulty will be reduced by 25% if less than 6 blocks are generated in 12 hours.

I believe its just an attempt to create confusion amongst the investors. Breeding on their panicky behaviour some big folks are going to create huge sums of money for them.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with the people who don't like Bitcoin? on: July 27, 2017, 08:27:38 AM
What would you do when you're talking to someone but then he suddenly talks about his hatred on Bitcoin, what would you react to it?

I've never actually experienced anything like this before, I just want to be prepared when it happened to me.

Trust me, when I first invested in bitcoin, some of my friends called me a fool for investing in an "unreal currency" which the government doesn't support. That nearly 5 years ago, and today, the same friends come to me for understanding bitcoin and learning how to invest in it. So I'd say that you wait and not try to argue with them right now. Invest quietly, let the gains make the noise  Grin
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can cryptocurrency make real money disappear? on: July 26, 2017, 01:53:30 PM
What are the chances of living in a world with no actual money ?  Shocked

The vision is Utopian-- having a world which is connected by a decentralised currency. Governments will run out of work to do if that happens Cheesy so they will not let cryptocurrencies rise to power.
13  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-26]BTC's 10% Plunge Reveals Underlying Concerns About Currency Split on: July 26, 2017, 01:26:08 PM
Excerpt
Bitcoin’s volatile ride continued Tuesday, with prices dropping to their lowest in five days as concerns over the activation of SegWit2x weighed on investors. Bitcoin (BTC/USD) plunged more than 10% on Tuesday, reaching a low near $2470.00, according to Bitstamp. The drop erased most of the progress made last week after developers apparently agreed to avoid a currency split. Uncertainty Over SegWit2x Various news sources, including The Wall Street Journal, reported last week that the vast majority of developers signaled support for a new software protocol. This protocol, dubbed BIP91, is intended to resolve differences between the User Activated Fork…

I am not sure if I should retain my investments in altcoins. I have invested in IOTA, EOS and NEO. I don't know if I should keep my currencies or sell them before its too late. Please suggest guys

NEO has potential to grow. The Chinese government is backing it so it won't fall flat on its face even in the worst of circumstances. So I think NEO is a safe bet.

Yes, NEO is a good investment at this point of time as it is still small. Their product seem quite promising too.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't Spend Too Much Time Trading? is that true? on: July 24, 2017, 12:31:10 PM
i'm one who spend too much time for trading. I made so many stupid mistakes because of thinking emotionally instead of logically. Cry
what is your opinion?

It's not about how much time you are spending on trading. All that matters is that whether that time is spent strategically or wasted by hovering on various Altcoins available for trading.
One must have a strategy on how to invest, on which Altcoin your money will be invested and for what duration trading in a particular cryptocoin is worthy.
15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Loss almost 40%, should stop trading or not ? on: July 24, 2017, 12:15:05 PM
Trading with btc - eth, I buy too high ( 0,082 ) and today I sell all on 0,077. Before that trade btc - ripple ( xrp ), make mistake buy 0,0002150 so today I sell with price 0,0001200. I decide to sell all because my patience is finish. I have loss almost 40% from my money, my question is simple ................. stop or continue?

Never forget the basic rule of trading i.e. Buy LOW Sell HIGH. If you are running in losses then in order to compensate them, you can either purchase the same coin at low prices or try to compensate it with investment in other Altcoins which can probably grow exponentially. You can also look forward to investing in an ICO.
