1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Wallet v0.8.6 beta on: June 25, 2017, 06:46:11 AM
In Electrum 2.0, you cannot import private keys in a wallet that has a seed. You should sweep them instead.
If you want to import private keys and not sweep them you need to create a special wallet that does not have a seed. For this, create a new wallet, select “restore”, and instead of typing your seed, type a list of private keys, or a list of addresses if you want to create a watching-only wallet.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High school dropout who invested in bitcoin is now a millionaire at 18 on: June 24, 2017, 11:20:33 PM
You've been spun by media. So hung up on the story they were telling you(kid gets rich by pure luck). That you let that alone dictate judgement. Despite the fact that the article drops hints at the kids level of intellect and self motivation. If you remove the "sensational" story about money, the consensus would likely be starkly different from your attitude about it.
3  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Is Electrum a safe wallet to keep bitcoins? on: June 24, 2017, 02:27:23 PM
Yes. much better than multibit. The thing I like is I get a seed phrase to use as a recovery incase my HD crashes. Already had to do this twice. The plugins are nice too, like syncing notes/descriptions for transactions, although this may not be very private....but I'm guessing if you want a hosted blockchain wallet then you don't mind
4  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: For you samsung or iphone? why? on: June 24, 2017, 11:10:52 AM
samsung syempre. baket? kase samsung yung cp ko eh , haha. pero mas ok talaga samsung compared sa iphone. mahirap kasi mag modify sa ios unlike sa android o.s
so yun , mas ok gamitin ang android (samsung)
5  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how to start trading with a very small amount on: June 24, 2017, 08:42:00 AM
Be very patient, start small, and don't invest beyond your training (aka don't get in over your head).
First and foremost, invest in your own investing education.
Investing in stocks can be a fruitful and enjoyable journey and you are off to a great start by asking questions and seeking advice.
The first thing I want you to hear right now is: BE PATIENT
I encourage you to focus more on learning early on and when you do start investing, do so slowly and with small amounts.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Charlie Lee working hard on LTC right now? Ofc not on: June 24, 2017, 08:37:09 AM
I think it's elitist and pretty shitty to expect altcoins to be a testing ground like a lot of people here do ('oh, we don't care about them. Let them eat the poison pill for us! As long as I'm OK! Ho Ho Ho!')
But, this seems a bit different (the creator is pushing for it, not sure on their deployment methods - bip9 style?) , so maybe it's OK.
7  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Haasonline Simple Trade Bot For BTCe and Bitstamp[Main topic] on: June 24, 2017, 08:12:14 AM
I have been using this bot for the past week and I must say it is quite awesome. In order to become profitable, you must understand some basics of TA and spend time tuning your strategy via backtests. I have made some profits over the last week, but due to the uncertainty in China regarding bitcoin, I am currently waiting for the dust to settle before getting back in. I am also in the process of piecing together some documentation on my website (http://bitcoinbotreview.com ) to make things easier for newer customers or those who would like more information about how exactly this bot works.
8  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? on: June 24, 2017, 07:40:15 AM
some time ago where I showed two of my classmates my bitcoin wallet then the amount inside it as well as its price in my local currency and as usual they get curious too and asked how is it considered as a money or how it can used to buy stuffs.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used by ordinary citizens? on: June 24, 2017, 07:31:33 AM
Definitely, everyone can use bitcoin even ordinary citizens as long they acquired proper knowledge on how to use it. Even they have limited knowledge about technology they can easily use bitcoin with proper guidance. Thus, many people here in my country can easily adopt the use of technology even bitcoin too.

11  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: June 23, 2017, 09:30:32 PM
well you would be correct if you only run the 2pacs and compacs.
if you run other mining software windows 10 and windows 7 on a pc are fine.
At the moment I run cgminer and nicehash
this give me 1 compac 1 2pac and the cpu mine xmr on the same pc.
the cpu xmr adds about 10 or 15 watts ands net a very small profit.
which means the 1 pac and 2 pac cost no extra on the mobo or cpu power use.
12  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] How to spot a scammer (Read this before doing any transactions!) on: June 23, 2017, 09:51:53 AM
you can protect yourselves by doing this: 1. Don’t trust anyone claiming they will give you or help you mine bitcoin. Again, cryptocurrency is valued by cybercriminals for a reason, and nefarious behavior related to bitcoin runs rampant on social media and digital channels.
2. Avoid URLs associated with social media profiles advertising too-good-to-be-true bitcoin offers.
3. Be vigilant when engaging with the social media accounts of legitimate bitcoin brokers or trading platforms, as they are frequently victims of convincing impersonations.
4. Never engage in any financial transaction, bitcoin or otherwise, via direct message on social networks.
If you have already been scammed, report the crime to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center, but do not expect to see your bitcoins again.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Offline Wallets Vs Online Wallets on: June 23, 2017, 09:48:39 AM
First, don't confuse the terms "offline" vs. "online", use "bitcoin wallet" and "bitcoin account" instead. All wallets that are not considered "cold storage" are "online" because they are connected to the internet.
Bitcoins reside in the block chain.
A bitcoin wallet contains the keys that allow you to spend the bitcoins.
A bitcoin account is an account with some service (such as an exchange) that holds bitcoins for you. They hold the keys to the bitcoins in their wallet and your account keeps track of how many of the bitcoins in their wallet are supposed to be yours.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: June 23, 2017, 09:36:16 AM
no reject with coinmine at all,
works on 660 ti – 46-47 sols. 1070 – 275-280 sols OC. and it’s workin with pools! much more profit to come.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: cryptoGlance [v2.1] :: Open-source, self-hosted, multi-rig monitoring tool! on: June 23, 2017, 09:06:13 AM
A few things! I'm sorry if there's a better way to contact you. I didn't see an email address on your site, and the chat there doesn't seem to exist anymore. (Not on my Windows Chrome or Firefox, anyway.)
1) Thanks for making this great and open source!
2) I can't seem to get WestHash to work. I'd like to give more info about what's happening, but I'm just not sure where I'm going wrong. westhash.com + the API from "Account" + the 5 digit "API ID" (as "user ID"?). But no info shows up. Also, is there a way to request other pools? Ex: Yaamp, ProHashing, MagicPool, etc..
3) After something happens for the dashboard to give an orange or red warning for a miner, the warning seems to stay forever, even after things are working fine.
4) It would be REALLY useful to add profitability info to the pool dashboards when it's available. (And as an "I wish..." request, it would be great if CG could switch miners to the most profitable pool.)
Thanks again. Amazing work.
16  Other / MultiBit / Re: Please Help: 2BTC locked because "The password did not unlock the wallet" on: June 23, 2017, 08:51:54 AM
If you forget your PIN, you can reset it by wiping your TREZOR in advanced settings and using the recovery process described below. If you lose your TREZOR or if your TREZOR somehow gets destroyed you may have to recover your accounts. So long as your recovery card is intact your bitcoins are safe and sound.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Cash is better than Bitcoin. on: June 23, 2017, 04:57:27 AM
If the question is, "why is bitcoin better than fiat money," the answer is that it cannot be debased, nor controlled by any person or privileged group of people. It is money that derives its price from the market (voluntary exchange) instead of by coercion and force. Thus, it is both a better store of wealth, andalso more ethical, transparent, and honest. If your question is, "why is bitcoin a better payment system?" The answer is that it often is not, at least formost people, most of the time. Eventually it will be thebest payment system, but it needs to develop further, gain more adoption, and get over the scaling obstacles. Even so, Bitcoin is already the best payment system for certain use-cases, such as sending money across borders, or receiving money from someone you don't trust (which helps further in cross-border transactions).
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Elastic (XEL) Price Speculation $ 1.07 on: June 23, 2017, 04:41:10 AM
Keep in mind that those other projects (i.e. Golem, SONM, etc) are targeting use cases that are easily marketable (rendering video, BOINC, etc). XEL is very low level compared to that...it will require the author to code a job in ElasticPL...this is not an easy task.So while the purpose of XEL is great, it's does not nearly have the mass appeal as those other coins. So I just caution folks tobe realistic...XEL is nothing like the other projects in this area.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Siacoin Epic Monster Moon on: June 23, 2017, 04:06:23 AM
I've been in Bitcoin early, I've been in Ethereum early. The first token I can actually say I'm passionate about because of the tangible use case is Sia. It's become an important part of my backup strategy, and as an investor I have an incentive to keep buying coins so my storage costs reduce down the line. What a fantastic product. Sure, let's go to the moon, but let's take time to appreciate what has been created here.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Forknote - create your own Cryptonote network on: June 23, 2017, 04:03:43 AM
So basically once you release the updated Forknote based on the latest Bytecoin release, all Forknote currencies are already updated, right?
The idea is quite nice from technology point of view. However, it is a central point-of-failure for a number of decentralized currencies (existing and potential). What happens if one day you decide to abandon this idea and stop updating Forknote?
