so this project has passports that can let you go to different countries?
No, the projects let's you receive a cryptoUBI. You can scan the NFC chip of your passport when you generate a new address to prove you are not a bot and in return you get a share of every block that is minted.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] UBIC:The cryptocurrency providing UBI for the masses using the E-Passport on: January 08, 2020, 04:19:44 PM
if you say that the access to International Civil Aviation Organization Public Key Directory is soon not mandative anymore for ubic to work, that may allow more countries to get a ubic-currency, right? Sounds exciting Wink

Yes, but I cannot check if their DSC certificates are compatible without having seen one before.
But it is a good thing not to be dependent on one single website anymore.
The CSCA Masterlists unlike the DSC certificates are available from several sources including:
 - https://www.npkd.nl/
 - https://www.bsi.bund.de/SharedDocs/Downloads/DE/BSI/ElekAusweise/CSCA/GermanMasterList.html
 - https://ec.europa.eu/jrc/en/schengen-master-list-pilot
and so on...

We have kind of a problem. I checked the https://download.pkd.icao.int/ website for the latest DSC (Document Signing Certificate ) and it seems that at least Germany and Austria are not publishing theirs anymore, or they are both very late with their release.

The good news is that there is a workaround, the DSC is always present on the NFC chip of the E-Passport and can therefor be extracted from there. From now on when a user is posting it's passport registration transaction it will include the DSC certificate from the passport.

This is a lot of work and this is why I haven't done it yet, but once implemented it will provide a lot of advantages and no more waiting times to register on UBIC when you just got your passport issued.

Also accepting DSCs from user input is not a security threat as each DSC is signed by the Country Signing Authority and therefor it is not possible to forge one.

what about Passports from Brazil, Russia, India, Korea, Argentinia, Nigeria? I guess they all have likely less secure standards no matter that they are PKD-Participants?... What if you introduce currencies for each of them anyway, on the condition that their registered passports get only ubi when  ubic-participants holding secure passports validate and trust those registered accounts manually? Validation could mean approving how long those documents are legit and approving that the person on the passports picture was in private contact with them? So a participant for example from Russia would have a harder time to join and would have to ask for private validation and more intrusive private KYC in a telegram-chanel or discord-chanel, and would receive only UBIC when s/he is trusted by a legit UBIC-account (holding a passport of the current 28 allowed Countries). Trust could be limited to a few or even just one trust-connection each legit UBIC-Participant so that noone is able to trust multiple sybils.

Something like that could open up UBIC to a lot of additional participants?

Theoretically, all passports that follow the ICAO DOC 9303 standard and it's recommendations can join UBIC.
It is just that the implementation is moving forward slowly in some countries and some haven't done it right yet. This year we were able to add Iceland, Hong Kong and Spain and I expect that by 2030 a large majority of countries will be UBIC compatible. There are also a lot of other tasks that need to be done in the core and have a higher priority.
One of them is to get the voting done so that it will become possible to elect validator nodes. This will make UBIC truely decentralized which it isn't yet.

Good news! UBIC will soon support Spanish passports issued after July 2016.
Same for passports from Hong Kong issued after July 2019.

I am currently working on version 0.4, this will be the first version to be "exchange ready".
It will be very stable and have some new API endpoints that will make exchange integration easier.

It is now possible to register an icelandic passport if it was issued after 2013!
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] UBIC:The cryptocurrency providing UBI for the masses using the E-Passport on: May 14, 2019, 10:07:47 AM
A new UBIC currency UIS (ICELAND) will be added with version 0.2.1 and will activate with block 146500.
Nodes that don't upgrade to V 0.2.1 will be stuck at block 146500.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] UBIC:The cryptocurrency providing UBI for the masses using the E-Passport on: November 18, 2018, 11:07:17 PM
I released V0.2.0 please upgrade your nodes

Quote
After block 85000 there will be a protocol upgrade that will affect the register passport transactions.
Two new fields were added (uint16_t)mdAlg and (std::vector) signedPayload.

    (uint16_t)mdAlg hash algorithm used to digitally sign passport data.
    (std::vector) signedPayload is an ASN1 Object containing no personal information but it may contain a field called signingTime(timestamp from when the Gov. issued the chip) that could be very interesting for future usages.

V0.2.0 clients are incompatible with V0.1.x clients.

The KYC functionality is now working. To verify someone, a website creates a challenge, something like "www.utopia.org/?kyc-request=1462517"
The user then scans his passport and generates a base64 encoded identity proof for this challenge. As said previously there a re 3 modes: anonymous, with written information and with facial image.

When the base64 encoded proof is sent to the /ubi/verify-kyc endpoint, the output would be like this one:
Code:
{
    "success": "true",
    "dscID": "81fd9c80a1c40f2fbde419ee928318013fe714ff",
    "currencyID": "42",
    "expiration": "1568278666",
    "passportHash": "35715d1ae2c2b67e17815c3d53b12406833a0b294cc9bc40a37473111d32deb9",
    "challenge": "www.utopia.org/?kyc-request=1462517",
    "passportNumber": "A54DF5AA4",
    "name": "DOE  JOHN",
    "isoCountryCode": "UTO",
    "gender": "M",
    "dateOfExpiry": "210519",
    "dateOfBirth": "890529",
    "mrz": "P<P>UTODOE<<JOHN<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<A54DF5AA44UTO8905293M1909214<<<<<<<<<<<<<<08",
    "facialImage": "AAAAgdf0...."
}

in the above example the KYC proof is with a facial image.
An "anonymous" proof would look like this:
Code:
{
    "success": "true",
    "dscID": "81fd9c80a1c40f2fbde419ee928318013fe714ff",
    "currencyID": "42",
    "expiration": "1568278666",
    "passportHash": "35715d1ae2c2b67e17815c3d53b12406833a0b294cc9bc40a37473111d32deb9",
    "challenge": "www.utopia.org/?kyc-request=1462517"
}

I added 2 new endpoints in the API, /ubi/verify-kyc and /ubi/do-kyc
The functionality is still under development.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] UBIC:The cryptocurrency providing UBI for the masses using the E-Passport on: September 23, 2018, 11:14:33 PM
I released version 0.1.8 and I highly recommend to upgrade to this version.

i did update my node yesterday. most respect for your work!

Another blasphemic idea: if it is possible to run all those different passport currencys on top of ubic blockchain, wouldnt it be also possible to run one additional "sans papiers" ubic currency on that blockchain too, low level security just with for example recaptcha / email /( mobile, but that costs something)? You can use the wallet and trade ubic without having to register passport, right? We know that Sybil Attacker can fake thousands of accounts and try to harvest such a currency, they would most likely do. But what if that nonsafe currency trades free against passport currency anyway? Wouldnt it have a free market value higher than zero just for engaging new people without passports or for engaging people who care extremly for their anonymity, by a faktor x lower, but still with value because it gives you a sense of beeing part of something? And you can still level up to real passport (and probably faktor X0.000 higher ubi) if you like?

I had in mind the idea of creating a hybrid solution that would combine a web of trust with the use of the current E-Passport approach.
Under this scheme every E-passport holder would be able to certify 3 other people. If someone gets 5 certifications he would get a UBI too.

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🇩🇪 UDE, german local cryptocurrency build on top of UBIC on: September 17, 2018, 12:12:48 PM
Project UDE is a cryptoubi currency but I want to ask
Why do you have to use a passport? and are there countries that are prohibited from joining your project?
The passport is a very secure and cheap way to prevent a sybil attack.
Not all passport are supported and this is due to technical reasons.
Take a look at the UBIC announcement thread to see what passports are supported Wink

I dont know, maybe you could even completly rebrand and do airdrop promotion on kyc-narrative?

The KYC part will be implemented very soon.
Indeed it would be very advantageous if UBIC could become a KYC oracle for other projects.
For example it would be very useful if you could use UBIC to very easily subscribe to other cryptoUBIs or airdrops.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🇩🇪 UDE, german local cryptocurrency build on top of UBIC on: September 17, 2018, 09:07:37 AM
Algo Huh
It can not be mined, you can create new coins by scanning your NFC chip.
The NFC chip of your passport contains a digital signature issued by the government and it is this signature that allows you to generate new coins as a form of UBI.
