1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH will go back to $1 this year here is why.. on: July 08, 2019, 04:25:48 PM
Ethereum has a price >$200 it's very unlikely that it will crash down to only $1. So I agree but that doesn't mean that ETH will go up, also.

Privacy coins had a bad past but after some time the best Privacy coin will materialize itself.
There's always a need for privacy that's why privacy coins have a bright future.

7  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a max amount of 0.4BTC can pay back about 0.09BTC/month on: October 24, 2018, 09:00:09 PM
Hello dear community,

I'm looking to invest in altcoins specifically Graft (GRFT) and Wagerr (WGR) and maybe some BTC and ETH. The portfolio should look like this: 70% GRAFT 15% Wagerr and 10% Bitcoin and 5% Ethereum.

I have 500€ per month that I can freely use to pay back the loan.

Currently I have 400€ in altcoins that I can put up as colleteral.
On November 1st I'll be investing another 200€.
That alone should allow me to get a loan of 450ish $ or 0.08BTC.

However my idea was that the loan will be invested in Altcoins also meaning that the loan itself should count as colleteral so if I put up 600€ that should allow me to get 3000€ ish or 0.6BTC.

But since this is the first loan I receive I want to proof that I'm trustworthy first so I'm looking for a max of 0.4BTC

So your idea is to put up 600€ worth of collateral and get a 3000€ loan? I understand that you're saying that the coins you are buying would be put towards collateral, and this is fine, but the lender would have to trust you to send those altcoins to an escrow after buying them, wouldn't they?

It could be arranged a bit differently, in that the lender buys the coins for you, and you send the extra 600€ worth of collateral to them (or an escrow) to keep the portfolio at a healthy margin. That way there are no trust issues when it comes to sending coins. Normally, I myself would be interested in such an arrangement, but the first two coins that you picked (particularly Wagerr) have very little liquidity and can get hit hard as a result of that. In that case the extra money that you send might not account for such a downswing, putting the lender in the red. Also, there are no reputable exchanges that you can buy that coin on.

Yes you're right.

I never intended to get the loan and buy the altcoins myself. That should be on the Lender or on a trustworthy Escrow.

Because I'm not expecting anyone to trust me without knowing me at all.

In my opinion Wagerr is a safe bet (pun intended).
Their mainnet has launched and their deflationary ecosystem is discouraging people from doing huge selloffs.

Also the liquidity is really good relative to the total market cap of just 20m.

My main concern is Graft. They don't have any customers yet and their software development is slooow.
Still a good investment in my opinion because they probably reached the bottom.

Are you trying to reinvent fractional banking for crypto? Even if this works, you multiply your risk.

Why don't you invest with money you own instead of money you don't have?

I'm basically leveraging my portfolio which isn't that uncommon. More risk means higher chance of losing but that wouldn't change my situation at all.

It also means that all wins are multiplied by the Leverage.

The key thing for me is to come to good terms with a lender.
The risk should be on me, not the lender.

I'm fine with liquidating part of my portfolio if things go south.

I can pay using bank transfer however fees may apply.
I think the best way to pay would be bitcoin what do you guys think? I live in Germany. I'm from Germany.

We only have a deal if we find a trustworthy Escrow.

Can provide ID and Bank account history.

10  Economy / Marketplace / Looking for 1k$-2k$ (I earn 500€/month) on: October 24, 2018, 03:57:57 PM
Hi dear community,

I am looking to invest into Graft (GRFT) since I think that it's going to appreciate in price in the near future.

My monthly income is 500€. My only expense is when I go to restaurants or Burger King and eat there.
That is usually around 100€/month but I'm really trying hard to give up this bad habit.
Everything else like normal food, rent, clothing etc. is paid for by my parents.

I'm looking to buy 400€ worth of Graft and put that up as colleteral. Then I'm also looking to split the loan up like this: 75% graft 25% Wagerr (WGR). At 1st November I'm gonna put an additional 200€ worth of Graft up as colleteral.

Why only 200€?
My parents give me money every month and they already gave me 200€ in October so in November I can only put up a max amount of 300€ as colleteral.

Why am I not getting a loan at the bank?
Well the problem is that my parents give me the money in cash now and also my Bank account is only 2 months old and banks usually ask for proof of your bank account for the last 3 months.

I'm only doing the loan with escrow! The escrow should be very trustworthy.

What should the Escrow do?

So basically the Escrow should buy Wagerr and Graft with the loan and just Hodl.
I will have no access to the colleteral as long as I haven't paid back the loan.

When it comes to interest I'm willing to pay up to 8% p.a.

You can also have various documents such as my Identity Card, statements of account of the last 2 months (my Bank account is only 2 months old).

Feel free to ask me anything.

Hello Trueflip,

I'm a native German speaker and I want to give you feedback about the translation in the German subforum.
It really is terrible. There are countless mistakes and it feels like Google translate was used. I think that leaves a bad impression on potential investors.

I'm also under the impression that this is the case for a lot of translations. Just want to throw it out there that it might be a wise idea to hire some kind of qualitycheck manager that is verifying whether the translations are legit.
He could do so by knowing multiple languages himself or asking the subforum participants if they are satisfied with the translation. A simple poll in every subforum might do the trick as well.

Feel free to let me know if you want me to rewrite the German translation. I have the tools for this job.  Wink

13  Other / Beginners & Help / What is the best wallet and how to transfer funds? on: June 25, 2017, 11:18:18 AM
Hi I bought bitcoin at bitcoin.de. Should I create a wallet now?

I want to buy some coins at Livecoin so I'm not sure if I can save some taxes if I transfer them from bitcoin.de directly instead of creating a new wallet.

Thanks for your answer David, I think I agree with you Smiley.

I have one more question: since many big sellers will be incentivized to use BitBay because of no fees I think what is gonna happen is that they will try to keep the price as high as possible meaning that Buyers will have less of an incentive to buy stuff at BitBay compared to Ebay or Amazon.

Do you see this as an issue? And how can we solve it?
I mean if there is enough competition it will keep the price low and that will attract lots of users but until then it will be hard to incentivize buyers and big sellers to use your platform (buyers don't benefit enough and sellers dont get enough volume since only few buyers).

Regard,
CryptThinker

Part 3:

I think its also fine if you put the money for unresolvable issues in a fund that is used for something useful like customer service or advertising if possible Smiley.

I get it that customer service is in conflict with this while decentralized idea but still it would be nice to have a little bit of customer service like a live chat and some guy that reads emails.

Ok now one more thing to add about Double Deposit Escrow where I think there is a more optimal solution.
Lets say Bob wants to sell his car for 10000$.
I really doubt that he can afford to pay the smart contract with like 5000$ if he's broke af.

The Solution:
Why not both?
We live in a world of endless possibilities so why should we limit ourselves to just Double deposit escrow?
We could enable both regular escrow AND Double Deposit escrow and make the PEOPLE that use this software decide what they want to use for their deal.

This actually goes really well with the whole bringing back the markets to the people idea so I strongly believe this should be implemented even though there will be exit scammers and other cases of fraud.
But it should be an overall improvement since both parties agreed to regular escrow and should be aware of the risks.

How it can be implemented:
When the seller creates an offer there are checkboxes where he can determine which options of escrow he wants to use.

When the buyer sees the offer he can see which form of escrow is wanted so no additional communication is required.

Feel free to disagree with me.
Happy discussing Smiley!

Continuation:

Now there is one subject where I clearly disagree.
That is burning the coins when there is a conflict and the trader and the buyer can't agree upon.

Say Lisa sells her Laptop for 1000$ and Bob buys it.
Bob puts in 1200$ and Lisa puts in 250$ because she is a power seller on BitBay.

Lets assume Bob doesnt like Lisa because she has a cat avatar and now Bob cancels the contract although he received the good. To be fair that cost him 200$.
But is it fair that you burn the money?

What if Lisa can prove that she send the Laptop? She deserves to get paid.
So I would say that we need to differentiate between resolvable and unresolvable issues.

Whenever one site can prove that he says the truth that person shall be paid accordingly.

The excess of the funds will be used for paying these moderators and the rest for customer service.

What do you think of this idea?

Hi guys I just registered in this forum because I'm really invested in BitBay and I think that it has potential.
Excuse me if I say something wrong here, I'm not fully aware of all the features that BitBay offers.

David I hope you read this:
I came here to discuss the "Double Deposit Escrow vs Regular  Escrow" subject. In my opinion both have weaknesses the weakness of Regular Escrow is that it has serious scalability issues. Think about hundreds of users selling something at the same time... will you really find enough trustworthy persons that are going to escrow a deal? Probably not.

Now I do think DDE solves the most part of these issues. Say Bob wants to buy a Pizza for 20$ from Lisa so both put in 20$ in a smart contract and Bob puts like 20% extra on top of that. It doesn't have to be double in my opinion what Bob has to put in.

I think that if you force Bob to put in 40$ you will not attract enough people.
Of course Bob has to put in more than the sell value so you protect the seller from getting trolled but as long as Bob is paying more than 100% of the sell value he isn't incentivized to do that.
Imo the added price bob should be in the 15%-30% range.

Say if Bob buys a Laptop for 2000$ I think its enough if he puts up 2250$ upfront.
If Bob receives the Laptop and he wants to troll the seller it would cost him 250$ to do so.
