Base on the article that I read and some of the people who reply on this post saying also that facebook are investing in some cryptocurrencies but they do it secretly so that people will follow them. They are not creating their own crypto because it is not legal yet in the whole world I guess.

They are not dead they are just regulating it because there are many whales inside on it. It is actually working until now but i can't assure you that they are still anonymous at the same time it is working and that is reason why people still using it and trading on it.
