1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin ASIC?!?! on: April 26, 2013, 07:44:03 AM
This situation makes me sad and really gives a bad opinion about crypto-currencies among public.
In pool where I'm mining a top guy have two weeks ago 50,000kH/s, last week 150,000kH/s, now over 200,000kH/s but highly fluctuating (170-210).
I'm trying, but could not imagine his mining rigs and thinking that this is botnet too.

The whole problem is caused by the fact that scrypt was designed to have good output on CPUs, thus attracting this kind of mining.
It will be probably resolved only after introduction of scrypt ASICs Sad so it will be not profitable run botnet in that network.
It's probably only matter of time, some guys working on them. It was told at first that scrypt will not be very profitable on GPUs compared to CPUs, look at the situation now Smiley

Hi, I'm mining in your pool and I have noticed pair of things that could be eventually improved (however, only my suggestions)
- in "Getting started" page correct the point 3.URL, there is ".com" omitted at the end, could confuse someone with guiminer for example
- in "News" tab there are three strange submenus that are not working
- is it possible to add somewhere the hashrate of whole FC network?
- hashrate graph in user stats says update every 60s, but does not look like this is working, for me more like every 1h, the same for pool graph
- yesterday I saw in dashboard panel in "current round shares" a negative value, maybe some problem with integer interpretation
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to achieve 40000 kh/s while mining scrypt based coins like ltc and mnc? on: April 25, 2013, 09:46:09 AM
lol, I saw miner with 150,000kH/s last week, now he has 200,000 kH/s
could someone explain me this?
(LTC mining)

ok, now I understand
I was confused because pool started as PPLNS and I did not notice some announcment about the change

Its simple. Because on those short blocks, the block was solved before you submit even one share. Check the amount of shares they were submitted, its less than 300 shares.  1641  people were mining at that time, the block was solved before everyone submitted their shares!
ok, this may be the reason
however this pool should be PPLNS and I understand PPLNS means that when block is found you will look at last N (don't know the exact number) shares and distribute payouts among miners contributed to them proportionally to their contribution.
So also during short round like 10000 shares if N is e.g. 500000 you should recieve your payout even if you didn't have shares in this last 10000
(http://ltc.kattare.com/about.php)
Therefore this means that this pool is rather RBPPS based???

my hashrate is about 4k-5k. i found that some rounds ending in short time(such as 340464,340004,etc) didn't pay me from yesterday .So my earning  was Significantly reduced in the past 24 hours.
why?
similar problem here, couple of posts before
some short rounds (e.g. 340464  https://www.wemineltc.com/blockPayReport?blocknum=340464 ) were curiously payed

hi,
I'm only a small miner and i'm mining in your pool from it's first days becouse I really like it.
However looking at recent blocks and my payouts, I have a little question: I received reward for blocks ...340350, 352, 361, 362 but not for 340354? it is between founded blocks and I was hashing continously. I know that pool is PPLNS, but I don't understand how this could affect this.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: amd radeon 7970m only getting 250khash/s on: April 24, 2013, 08:30:26 AM
7970m is basically under-clocked desktop 7870
desktop 7870 at 1000/1500 MHz gives about 400kH/s ... https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/wiki/Mining-hardware-comparison
so 250kH is maybe appropriate, probably not possible to go over 300
in guiminer try to use defaults for 7870 not for 7970
try thread-concurrency 15360 or 16384
maybe also try cgminer instead of reaper to see if there is difference
BTW what is your GPU temperature during mining?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cgminer 2.11.4 and LTC on: April 24, 2013, 08:06:02 AM
as said previously, most of your power goes into hardware errors (HW)
also good indicator of effectivity is WU (Work Utility) in upper right corner, it should be at least about 80-90% of your kHashes

could you post the cgminer command from your .bat file?
this errors are mainly caused by inappropriate thread concurrency
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC botnets? on: April 23, 2013, 10:40:46 AM
I saw over 150,000 kHash/s, how many servers you need?
It's like 250 x 7950, consuming 50kW
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / LTC botnets? on: April 23, 2013, 10:24:07 AM
LTC mining on CPU is now harder with recent rise of network, however CPUs still giving relatively nice hashrate.
This good profitability to compute on high number on CPUs seems to have attracted some "bad guys".
If you look at some of the top miners hashrate it really look like some kind of botnet mining (hashrate out of this world, you could count how many GPUs and electricity they need).
Is it possible to do something against that, or is it some other explanation of their hashrate?

13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cgminer hang after adding another card? wtf! on: April 22, 2013, 01:08:36 PM
for mining don't use crossfire! it is for gaming and you could connect cards within the same series (however, the best are two identical cards)
are you using win or linux? i was not able to run 7770+7850 on linux, on win 7 running fine
check if cards are visible in device manager (or catalyst center)
try cgminer only with pool parameters and intensity around 13-14, than maybe add threadconcurrency an so on ...
also use --gpu-reorder to sort cards based on pci-e bus position, than you could set separate parameters using comma (e.g. -I 13,17)
also the first start is bit longer, cgminer must compile some binaries, you could see it afterwards in your dir
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Computer Overheating on: April 22, 2013, 12:23:27 PM
bad idea,
with current rise in difficulty ...
on desktop i3 I have about 20kH, depending on your proc it will be similar
plus the problem with heat
and also don't try to use notebook graphic card like 7970m (it's actually more like desktop 7870)
it has TDP approximately 100W and during mining you will use them all
probably they don't expect in the notebook design using it at 100% 24/7
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: cgminer freezes on feathercoin pool on: April 22, 2013, 11:47:14 AM
are you using "--scrypt" parameter? it's different algorithm than BTC
also quick check is, that rate for common GPUs is in kHash/s (150-600kH/s) not in MHash
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC or LTC? on: April 22, 2013, 11:42:00 AM
LTC
mainly because of hardware that I have Smiley
and the price is rising, hope it will be once 1/4 of BTC price
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to mine Feathercoin with Guiminer-scrypt? on: April 22, 2013, 11:07:35 AM
if mine through pool use for example
http://feathercoin.is-a-geek.com/index
1)register on pool
2)check your worked ID

in guiminer
host: feathercoin.is-a-geek.com
port: 8341
username: your worker name
pass: worker password
try some default HW settings
use stratum: No

Start
