I see. Maybe that is comparable to the windows world's "GPU-only power draw", where all the memory consumption, board and VRM losses are to be added on top. That would make sense, since it's a good 40-50 watts per card on top.

How can each card pull 100 watts ("maxed to 100 watts") and your system 1000? Do you have a 400 watt CPU?

Does the blockchain driver from AMD improve hashrate all around (for Vega56 explicitly in my case) or is it just countering the DAG-generation degradation for Polaris & Co.?

Problem is, it's just Fiji on steroids (and not even that for ETH since they cut memory width in half).

470/480/570/580er verlieren deutlicher, R9 Nano/Fury(X) ebenfalls, aber nicht so stark, R9 290(X)/390(X) fast gar nicht.
Geforce-Karten mit 6+ GB ebenfalls fast gar nicht. 3 GB wird bald zu wenig.

Vielleicht ist auf dem 7990-PC eine andere/weiter OpenCL Plattform eingerichtet. Entweder die CPU oder eine frühere Nvidia-Karte?

Dann könnte hier mal ein Versuch mit 1 oder 2 was bringen:

Sicher, dass Nicehash dir für die CPU nicht die CryptoNight-Hashrate anzeigt? ZEC/zCash liegt auch bei moderneren Achtkernern eher im Bereich von ~50 H/s. Mein i7-4770K@4 GHz macht zum Beispiel nur run 22 H/s.

Wenn das für dich trotzdem interessant ist, weil die CPU deinen Mining-Rechner eh antreiben muss und du „nur“ die Differenz zwischen Idle- und Mining-Verbrauch extra zahlen musst, kannst du den nheqminer versuchen:

Die Angabe hinter dem Parameter -t gibt an, auf wievielen Threads gemined werden soll.
