1  Other / Off-topic / Legal Questions (involving patents, trademarks, etc.) on: August 04, 2017, 11:30:23 PM
Greetings,

I have a few questions dealing with paperwork in reference to cryptocurrency. If you have the answer or can point me in the proper directions where I can read up on it, I'd greatly appreciate it. my questions are as follows...

1). Is it a good or bad indication of the legitimacy of an altcoin based on rather or not it is listed in a patents and trade database?

2). Even though Bitcoin is based upon open source code, I've noticed it has listings within the patent and trade database, but other coins I've researched I have not found patents but have found Dead Status trademarks, is there a way to discover if a coin's trademark has been filed in a foreign country (outside of the United States) without going to each nation's patent and trade website?

2b). How would one go about finding exactly which nation a patent or trademark was filed in, if the developers or website doesn't explicitly mention it?

3). If a company isn't registered with a trademark, or patented (even pending) does this remove legal obligation & liability from them to their investors/supporters?

4). If a company claims to have an application in development, how can one discover or find the patent-pending information?

4b). If one can not locate a filed and approved patent or a patent pending, what indication is that (if any) that the said application is actually in development?

thanks in advance.

Check out the Book "Mastering Bitcoin" by Andreas Antonopoulos for a start. It's available for free: https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook

The same guy also has a few videos on YouTube with a few gems among them. There he explains Bitcoin or different aspects thereof.

I actually ended up purchasing this book. Thank you for sending me this link

Just creating a thread about Blockchain tech because I'm new to this and Blockchain technology has become very-very interesting to me.

What's the best method and way of learning about blockchains, how to create them and how to implement them.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Creating a newbie guide pdf over the weekend, what do YOU want to learn about? on: July 01, 2017, 04:04:03 AM
That's a very great idea of yours to create a pdf trying to help others and beginners.

Try adding the most asked things in the beginners section. Here's a few:

-How to secure their wallets such as using ledger nanos and such.
-Types of wallets available (espeically the offline ones such as electrum and mycelium.
-How to buy bitcoins.
-Dangers of keeping bitcoins on an online exchange.

That's all I can think of.

#1 Yes, security is a major important factor for beginners so I will most certainly include this in the guide

#2 this will be included in the guide to show the options and choices present to beginners

#3 Most certainly

#4 Ok, and I'll include this inside the security section from the first point you've bought up.

thank you for your input!

OK.
This is a "free" guide or not?

Try to explain:
1. What is substitutionality in cryptocurrency fund transfering.
2. What are the Rules for International Fund Transfers in USA. (18 U.S. Code § 1960)
3. What is the greater fool theory.
4. Why here is no Advertising for Monero Mixer.

Free guide, Knowledge should always be free.

I will try my best to answer #1, but I think #1 may be saved for a later edition for intermediary/advance teachings. but I'll try my best to break it down into a beginners format.

#2 will also follow the same attempts as #1 but I do see the importance in making this knowledge and aspect of cryptocurrency known to beginners so I'll try and get that included

#3 will be included

#4 will require some time and I think I'll make that an annex inclusion at the end of the beginners guide.

Thank you for your input, and I will try my hardest to have as much included in the beginners guide as much as possible.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to send a fake bitcoin transaction ? on: July 01, 2017, 03:30:53 AM
Is ther anyway to send a fake bitcoin?

(I will be prefacing my post's on here with the following disclaimer until I am more knowledgeable in the realm of cryptocurrency and it's underlying technology, I am new and I do not claim to be a expert)

Theoretically, it should not be possible to send a fake bitcoin nor to add an improper/falsified transaction to the blockchain ledger.

from my understanding the way it works is like this,

>>> You have a crypto coin, for the sake of explanation we shall call this coin a "AsanaCoin"
>>> "AsanaCoin" run's a certain cryptography which add's the security factor to the crypto coin
>>> "AsanaCoin" does an ICO (Initial Coin Offering) which is very similar to an IPO (Initial Public Offering) of a stock
>>> "AsanaCoin" will require a network of computers which is utilized to do several important things
* This "AsanaCoin" network aid's in decentralization of the coin, no one node controls the network which in return removes control of the coin from any one node
* 2nd, this "AsanaCoin" network aid's in the formation of a ledger which keeps track of everything related to the coin itself (it's number of coin in circulation, it's market share, it's transactions)
* 3rd, this "AsanaCoin" network allows for the proper growth/amending of the blockchain which in essence verifies all transactions

now, to give a better example. let's say You and Me would like to do a transaction in which "AsanaCoin" is being transacted between you and myself.
1st = I put in a buy order, let's say I want to buy 100 "AsanaCoin" at $1.00 USD per coin
2nd = You see this order placed on the exchange so you want to make the sell, therefore you place a fill order of 100 "AsanaCoin" at $1.00 USD per coin.
3rd = The order is filled, and the "AsanaCoin" transfers from your wallet to my wallet

within those 3 steps, the first 2 are only tracked by the exchange site. while the 3rd step is added to the blockchain's ledger which is propagated throughout the entire "AsanaCoin" network and becomes permanent history of the coin itself. the blockchain + cryptography + ledger = immutable chain of data.

......

So no, by theory and by design it is suppose to be very very difficult to manipulate a coin's DNA(Blockchain, Cryptography and Ledger) to send counterfeit coins. but just as with anything else dealing with technology, it can be cracked and broken into but it hasn't been demonstrated yet, and if it has it has been kept quite.

I hope this helps your understanding. and if anyone else who has more knowledge than me can see somewhere where I was incorrect in my explanation please feel free to make the correction as so me and asanasuoooos can learn.

Hello, Guys!

I am so confused guys. Suggest me a Wallet/Exchange for trading with low fees and good reputation. I live in Dubai, UAE.

https://www.okcoin.com/
https://www.kraken.com/
https://www.bitstamp.net/

I am looking for a Wallet and Exchange together in one platform with low fees.  Like Spectrocoin. But i dont trust Spectrocoin as i read negative reviews about it ...

I dont want to use BitOasis. It's kinda fishy they dont have their phone number and i want their number.

For your main wallet I'd suggest Coinbase.com (haven't had any issues thus far) and for your exchange I'd suggest bittrex.com but you also have to ensure that the exchange you're wanting to use has the coin in which you'd like to trade listed. it's going to take some research but it's all for the better to ensure you do not waste your time nor money.

Hi Guys, I am new to Bitcoin Industry. I need your help.

I am member of some good bitcoin wallets like: Coinbase, Copay, LocalBitCoins.org etc

I live in Dubai, recently i came across "BitOasis" which is wallet plus exchange. Would you suggest me start with BitOasis for easy deposit and withdraw since the company is in Dubai.

Can you post your experience with (Spectrocoin) ? Somebody suggested me to you Spectrocoin... I would really appreciate your replies.

I am willing to start with $200.

Best Regards,
BigBox

Greetings man,

I too am new to cryptocurrency and I'll try and help you as much as my knowledge allows me.

I currently utilize coinbase and bittrex.com, so I'll be speaking on them as far as my experience and suggestions.

I would suggest you utilize one of the more established ones such as coinbase and/or bittrex. now recently, coinbase did something which I assume was to draw in more consumers but still requires mentioning. when the Etherum coin flash-crashed, and caused a lot of people to lose money - coinbase/GDAX said they will repay the customers loses.

I have no experience with Spectrocoin but I'd suggest reading their website, whitepapers and the market talk on it.

I started out with $130USD and invested in Reddcoin and was able to purchase 72K coins.
Please I also need help! How can I get my bitcointalk URL? Thanks

whichever site it is you utilize to transfer your funds from bankaccount/debit/credit card to translate into bitcoin will have 2 addresses, your Send to address and you Receive from address.

whenever you want to send bitcoin from your account to an exchange site, wallet, or person you utilize their receive address and send from your wallet. whenever you want to receive from someone else, an exchange site or other, you utilize your receive address.

now here is something you MUST remember and take heed to.
1. NEVER give out your private key, it will allow someone to take your cryptocurrency
2. ONLY send Bitcoin to Bitcoin, for example if you send Bitcoin to a Reddcoin wallet you WILL lose your cryptocurrency

I am currently at work and do not want to violate my companies SOP, so if you give me roughly 5-6 hours (I am in the eastern timezone and right now it is 10:06AM) I will be more than willing to screen cap you a walk through guide using pictures to better explain and help you understand how to send/receive/transfer.

in the mean time if you have questions, feel free to ask. I am not an expert by a long shot but I am willing to help teach you as much as I know to better your understanding.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum is poised to take the #1 (one) place on: June 29, 2017, 08:10:25 PM
Ethereum will take the #1 (one) place of the cryptocurrency sector by August, 2017 in my opinion. Bitcoin could have a severe drop next month and a large percentage of that money will go to Ethereum. THE FLIPPENING IS HERE. Price could be $700 by then in my opinion

you know, before hand I would've doubted this. but given the recent flash crash and subsequent bounce back, I assume and believe that whoever was the individual or group to initiate this flash crash had automatic buy-tickets placed between $0.10-0.01 and they have a large market-share now and will very much so profit greatly when Ethereum goes to the moon.

very interesting.
13  Other / Off-topic / Personal Opinion, eSIMs will push Cryptocurrency into a new frontier on: June 29, 2017, 07:56:37 PM
Without going into great detail (as I’m currently at work and just wanted to get this idea off my noodle) eSIM which is known as Embedded Subscriber Identity Module is now being seriously developed by some tech companies, for example – Microsoft is pushing the idea of “always connected” PCs that utilize eSIMs.

Some of the backing partners for this technology is…

ASUS, HP, Lenovo, Xiaomi, Dell, Huawei and VAIO

The eSIM would be woven into the silicon fabric of a device’s modem.

Now my personal opinion is that once this becomes perfected it will allow for actual physical printing or minting of cryptocurrency that’s still connected to the network/internet which would allow for sells/buys/trades.

Again, Personal Opinion and I will expand upon this later in the day once I get home and have time to do so.
