2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Incorrect BTC balance: Importing blockchain.info private key into bitcoin-qt on: November 26, 2013, 11:20:49 AM
For the record.. in my case it was just a question of time..
On my computer Bitcoin-qt takes a good 20min, looking just as if it was frozen, to import a private key.

Sorry for the non-issue.

Hi, gurus. I have a blockchain.info wallet with 2 addresses. One of them has 0.1 bitcoins in it. I exported 2 private keys from my blockchain.info wallet and imported them into bitcoin-qt using importprivkey command. After restarting bitcoin-qt client, the 2 addresses show up in "receive coins" list as expected, however the overall wallet balance shows as 0.00. I expected it to be 0.10. Any ideas?

Same problem here.
Exported and re-imported private keys successfully in MultiBit 0.5.14.
But when I try and import those private keys in bitcoin-qt 0.8.5 using this procedure: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_import_private_keys_v7%2B
they end up in the "receive" list, but the wallet's balance always shows 0, even after restart, or after new blocks were received.
(I verified those addresses again in MultiBit and blockchain.info and they do have positive unspent balances.)

All this seems fairly basic to me. What can I be doing wrong?

Thanks!

interesting, however germany is all eager to inflate the euro..

will make their Daimler cars cheaper / easier to export

"Inflate"?
It is true that Germany, as opposed to most other European countries, would like to see the interest rates increased rather than lowered even further. But it is to favour German people's savings and to contain a possible inflation increase in their country, certainly not to help car exports, as it would render their products more expensive, and therefore less competitive.

Isn't Daimler english?

So if I understand well, according to the patent description, all market makers allegedly make use of human beings to fill customer orders if there are no matches in the open market. And the whole point of the patent is to replace that alleged human being with a program, called Virtual Specialist.

Again I personally find it very hard to believe that:
1. No other market maker in the world, of whichever financial instruments, wouldn't already be using automated processes to achieve such matching.
2. A patent could forbid anyone from deciding to make their own little program to achieve such matching.

 Huh

Naah Max Keiser co-founded HSX and co-invented and patented the "Virtual Specialist" technology, which is now owned by Cantor Fitzgerald.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Stock_Exchange

Since the patent relates to virtual currency trading, some say CF might one day attempt to sue Bitcoin exchanges. I personally find it very hard to believe that the patent be so wide that it would forbid anyone else from "trading virtual currencies on internet"...
