2  Other / Off-topic / Re: Cryptocurrency is alot like Habbo Hotel on: July 29, 2018, 02:31:54 AM
For those of you who know what Habbo is, this thread will probably bring you back some memories.

There is a game called Habbo Hotel that I used to play like 10+ years ago, and it taught me my basic foundation of trading.

In the game, there was in-game currency, it was Furni (furniture), you used it to deck out your rooms and more people would come to your room if you had expensive furni.

Bitcoin, is alot like HC Sofas. HC's were like the gold standard. If you wanted to buy lets say a throne (rare furni), it would cost you x amount of HC's.

And there were lots of different currencies, and they were all traded against each other. Alt coins are like the norms, and bitcoins are like the rares. You can buy HC's with norms, but you would pay more norms because the HC was like the gold standard, same in the cryptocurrency scene. You can pay with altcoins to get Bitcoins, but you will pay a little tax.

The point is, that today I just remembered Habbo while I was trading some NXT. It really gave me a excellent foundation of my trading skills. And if your a good trader, you will be very successful in the game.

Habbo, those were the good days. Playing games as a 10-11 year old kid. I am surpised Habbo is still around to this day. That game is like economics 101, while having fun.

I'm shocked, it's like you've read my mind, I was just thinking exactly this these last days. I've played habbo around the same age as you, and got into crypto in 2011. I learned the word "profit", to check prices on Habbox, and made myself a habbo 'millionaire' solely by trading. It was an amazing game, good days indeed. It has thought me a lot of things, and I'm also quite sure it had a very profound influence in my journey through crypto over all.

Cheers!
3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Lightning Network: If your whole balance is very low, can you spend it? on: January 03, 2018, 09:21:37 PM
Still don't understand how would you spend 0.00001 if you cant you can't even open a channel with that amount.

Now you can't spend it because fees on chain are bigger than that. Will opening channels be cheaper in the future?
You don't necessarily have to be the one paying the fee. Both parties in the channel can fund the channel in the same funding transaction. So if you only have 0.00001 BTC, you can have the other party be the one who pays the transaction fee. They might do this if the channel is not only for you to buy a coffee but rather that you are also expecting to get paid by this person or route incoming payments through them.

And what if you have only enough money to buy a coffee, so you go to the coffee store and want to pay them with it. Would it be reasonable for the coffee shop to pay transactions fees for you? Is this supposed to be a common use case scenario?

I understand the concept of opening a payment channel were you commit with a fixed amount of BTC, transfer freely between parties, then broadcast to the network. I also understand there will be a minimum amount to of BTC to open a payment channel.

What happens if you just have enough money in your whole balance to buy a coffee for, let's say, 0.00001 BTC?

If you have to use someones elses payment channel to get through, how is it decided how much fee are you paying the channel owner?

If you can't spend small amounts, then how will it solve micro-transactions, or having unusable wallets with amounts smaller than fees?

Thanks!

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's XPM (PrimeCoin) GPU Miner v13.2 on: June 27, 2017, 11:55:04 PM
Hello! I've mined Primecoins in 2011, and now can't find my old sadly   Cry

Are there still any pools to mine them? or is solo mining worth a try with a simple i5 2500k?

Thanks  Smiley

Hello! I'm trying to mine with my MSI 6850. Is this card supported with this miner? if not, is there any other miner I could use?
I already downloaded the catalyst update and updated my drivers, so that should be fine.

This is the error I am getting:

[ximg]https://i.imgur.com/6yMwR8P.png[/ximg]

Also when I put these in the config file, the miner doesn't load it. Should I put these anywhere else? i also tried putting setx before all of these.

GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

This is how my config.txt looks like:

-epool eth.suprnova.cc:5005
-ewal pablow.placa6850
-epsw X
-dpool dcr.suprnova.cc:3252
-dwal pablow.placa6850
-dpsw X
-allpools 1
#-esm 1
#-mode 0
#-tt 70
#-asm 0

I'll appreciate any help you can give me!

Thanks

To mine eth you need at least 3 GB of ram on the card. That card can't mine eth at all.

Ok thank you!

I want to buy 2 or 3 cards to mine on my own pc. I see everyones buying AMD 470 4GB cards, but I would like something more powerfull since I'm not buying 5 or 6 cards. Would you recommend anything specific?

Thanks again!

12  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Will the Armory Wallet be made compatible with the Trezor hardware wallet? on: July 15, 2015, 05:05:44 AM
It's the same as it was before. We want to implement Trezor support, but we need to finish the new wallets first (our current wallet format is not compatible with Trezor).

What will be the changes on the new wallets that will allow it to implement Trezor that the current wallet doesn't have?
13  Bitcoin / Armory / Why do I have more unconfirmed BTC than I should? on: May 21, 2015, 06:10:25 AM

14  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Bitcoind.exe has stopped working on: March 24, 2015, 09:37:57 PM
Same here. Moved files exactly like the video tutorial explaines, and created the shortcut.

Is there anything I have to do to make the Bitcoin core app to know I moved it's files also? i suspect it has something to do with that

edit: just solved it.
1. Make a shortcut of you bitcoinqt and do this
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -datadir="d:\BitCoinData" (this would be the directory you placed the files)

2. Open bitcoinqt with that shortcut (make sure armory is closed)

3. Then open Armory, it will ask to close your bitcoinqt, select yes. then starts syncing normally. At least for me!

18  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: My windows is dead, I have Hackintosh, can I open my armory there? on: November 21, 2014, 10:49:02 PM
Perfect! I just imported them. Now, I can't seem to get my Armory client online to check my balance with the blockchain and download a database. Is Armory online feature not available on mac?
19  Bitcoin / Armory / My windows is dead, I have Hackintosh, can I open my armory there? on: November 21, 2014, 09:40:13 PM
So my Windows HD is not starting and i dont have time to deal with it, I have another HD with hackintosh where I can see all my windows files in the other HD. If I download Armory for MAC, how can import my Armory wallet from windows without opening it?

I have a paper wallet but I'd prefer not to use it.

Thanks!
