Here's a mask with P3 protection that will actually keep you safe, unclear what happens when it runs out of battery.
https://www.tikisafety.com

Looks usable. Photovoltaic cells would be cool, too. The surface area is there.

Maybe we all should just pack our bags, forget hodl, sell off our BTC, and enjoy the last few days of our life before this corona thing kills us. Cry

Aren't you one of the guys that are still waiting for sub $4k levels?

New yearly highs recorded on Coinbase...

What's Coinbase?

Someone for suckers to give their private keys lend their bitcoins to.

Should be "Keybase" then, no?  Grin Grin Cheesy

I doubt that we are going to go shooting up to $20k, but I could see shooting up to $17,500.

Yet, what the fuck do I know?

I am continuing to think that once we get in the $17,500 to $23,000 range, we are not going to be hanging around in those territories for very long.. .yeah we could be there for  a couple of months.. but is kind of like bat country... in my ongoing thinkenings.

I have been thinking exactly the same.... Many people would like to unload their coins at this range and it will make them angry and fomo back in at higher prices, when they see BTC keep pumping.

It could be like a repeat to early 2017 when BTC reached 1k again.

The only thing, as JJG also stated some days ago, is: This time it's different.
Now the halving effect is well known and many want to jump the boat before anyone else does.
Imo it just needs a little confidence that the bears have actually given up (and now might be the time).

Bitcoin Cash Sees no Blocks for 5 Hours, No Significant Backlog Due to Low Usage

Normally i'm a nice and friendly person, but this time i'm honestly happy that BCH fails. Even though Roger always put the speed of transactions (block times) in front when arguing for Bitcoin Crash.

You gots ur lil selfie a real problem, dude (using expression figuratively because I know that you are not "the dude") .

FWIW, Ganja has been a daily staple in my life for longer than I would like to admit. The extreme sickness I experienced in December (fully recovered BTW. Hematologist/Oncologist appt the other day shows me back at 100% with everything in their normal ranges) prompted me to quit entirely until the followup with my GP next week.

Yesterday marked 29 days since I quit all intake, and a home drug test still showed me testing positive for THC.

Will re-test in a couple weeks. It's a mind-over-matter thing for me to test clean before deciding to partake again. Pleasantly surprised that I did not experience a single withdrawal symptom, but I'll write that off as a bonus side-effect of the other meds I'm taking, as a mitigating factor.

So much for taking 28 days to clear out of your system.

28 days?
Scratch that.

It depends on your metabolism, method of testing and amount and duration of intake. I only experienced withdrawal symptoms after quitting/pausing weed when i was young and smoking it with tobacco. Life without weed wasn't any better nor any worse, but i just always really liked it and been a part-time stoner since age 16.
On topic: Expect up to eight weeks to "fully" clear out in the urine, which means levels of thc metabolites to fall under detection treshold.

Hopefully it won't survive saunas/alcohol.

Bad news there. Viruses are tough as shit. Only UV-C radiation is quite effective at killing germs, bacteria and viruses (and all animals and humans, with enough watts per square centimeter of exposed skin, over exposure time).

I read that alcohol kills it, and temperatures above 57 degrees C.

Not corona viruses, afaik.
Best source i found on a quick search: https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/480245-fda-tells-purell-that-its-products-cant-treat-or

High temperatures kill viruses, correct. But you need exposed viruses and for a longer time. UVC kills within seconds with a quartz lamp of 30w quoted power and a distance of a few centimeters. If a human could survive a raised core temperature of 60° celsius for an hour, this would be an easy cure. But that isn't the case.
The problem is, the virus is carried in a life supporting environment, the body, and spread by attaching to drops (mucosa) and skin particles outside.

EDIT: The tradeoff of using UVC on the human skin is that it does way more harm to viruses (and bacteria) in a short exposure time than to the human skin, but it's still dangerous. Not many lamps out there that suppress ozone generation, too. One has to research a lot about the safe usage of these lamps before he knows how to avoid endangering human health with them.

A low power directional uvc light source above any door in public areas, directed at the handle from above, would be a huge help in exposition prophylaxe. I saw these hanging over the counters of some fast food restaurants already. Hospitals and airports, all public builings could benefit from that but there's the human affinity to dumbness on the other side of the equation. Putting on masks and feeling safe...

A reporter today (or yesterday) was interviewing some biotech exec.
Exec: "We got the sequence on Jan 9, so we can now start working toward a vaccine".
Reporter: So, when it would be ready, then (implying that he, like, downloaded a pdf file and expecting a "curing" app any minute, lol)?
Exec: it usually takes 10 years, but with some "acceleration" with the help of the government, it could be done in 4 years.
Reporter: just sitting there in silence, basically. It was 'amusing' to see.

Based on H5N1 (which is really bad) it should take about 6 months tops.

Or maybe just three months.

https://www.zmescience.com/medicine/is-there-a-coronavirus-vaccine/

Interesting times, indeed.
What i am really waiting for is a profile of which and how many people typically die from nCoV, which ages, health status, social status and so on.
Could be a huge downshift in human life expectation numbers if too much goes wrong within the next six months.

this level currently does have some impact on the way above because it's the 38.2% retracement from the ATH at $19666 (100%) down to 2018 AYL at $3122.3 (0%). it's the biggest picture if you zoom out and should have also the most importance.

(*) Bitstamp data timeframe 1w
As you all know, I know shit about TA. Is it good for us?

what I try to say is that it needs a lot more power to get through this level and then it will become a support afterwards hopefully.

EDIT: it is a big barrier on the way above just as the 50.0%, the 61.8% and the 78.6% level.

Fibonacci and the Golden Ratio

Exactly. That's what i was meaning earlier today, when i said i'd like to see more volume.

Maybe you just forgot to add #nohomo?   Wink

Other than that, i expect Bitcoin to go up (as well as gold) while the "wuhan crisis" further develops.
What i really like about the "crisis": people in Whuan seem to stay way more calm than the rest of the world.
Hats off to the Wuhans.

The middle of the desert seems to be the place to be.

I may be naïve?

With a decent bit of money you can build/buy a reasonably good cooling structured building.

Everything for miles around is blasted out of existence every day. Zapped by the sun and the heat.

No more wanky flu germs!

Still, carriers who have virus inside and transmit via mucous (saliva) are immune to radiation from the outside.
For cooling you can build underground, with pretty constant temperature and humidity. clay would be the goto material for covering the walls.
Electric cooling still has the flaw of growing bacteria, unless you cool with water. And what if the cooling becomes defective, what about power outages, what about food?
Living from canned food for weeks? f*ck that, man  Tongue

Good idea, overall, but there are important downsides to be weighted.

WTF guys?

https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

I'm no racist, but given what's happening and what BLB posted (live rat eating), I thing that China has got to do a thorough house clean-up and get their act together ASAP...

The outcome of over-controlled population. The worst in a human gets suppressed for ages, in critical times it breaks loose. This is just a symptom of a culture that was "normalized" too much.
Just saw a video on titter (pun intended) of two men who got the throat cut because they were from wuhan. Police and all surrounders wear masks. I saw it on the mobile, so i can't post a link. (turkish source, so i can't check). This will probably grow to dramatic dimensions. Mankind is overdue, as it seems.
To anyone who asks himself why ancient higher developed civilizations "disappeared" so quickly...

As far as i remember, the panic level at SARS and MERS or Zika times were way lower than today. "Social" media also contributes to rising fear levels, obviously.

----

Bitcoin charts look promising again, quite some shorts liquidated according to titter's"whalealert". We have yet to see economical consequences of the china situation, factories shut down atm, etc...

Yes, transmission within 14 days of incubation time.
Temperature checks (almost) useless.
Obscure security that isn't.

I see there are a lot of idiots with stupid messages about Kobe.
I miss the time before windows (MS-DOS) when computers were used only by people
with slightly higher intelligence (more than 80)

RIP Kobe

Seconding that.

I seriously don't want to live on this planet any more.

The more people, the more problems.
Nature regulates itself. Sit back, relax and just watch.

Read and imprint this:
https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/01/25/wuhan-coronavirus-safety-china/

Buy an UV-C light source and protection goggles. Contaminate whole rooms with more than 20 watt quartz lamps (phillips).
But read into usage do's and dont's, UVC is harmful if not used under safety precautions.
Most of them produce ozone via ionization, except the phillips lamps, they filter that particular wavelength.

asymptomatic transmission

we're all gonna' die

yes ... and some reports from scientists inside Wuhan hospital of 14% fatality rates, not official 3% rate ... this thing is off the charts bad ass, they should have quarantined China 2-3 weeks ago, and still mutating, one hope is later strains will be less deadly/virulent  Roll Eyes

global economy is going to take a hammering over next 3-6 months

McAfee tweeting about CIA introducing nCov by shadow company. (doubtful, imo)
The virus seems not as deadly as others feared (flu, sars, mers), but mutating. So who knows?
I see 49 survived, 56 dead by about 2k reported infections. This seem tame numbers now, but with incubation time of 2 weeks, it could have spread over the whole world already.
Until march we should be able to judge the fatality of the virus.
No matter what, mankind will survive. But as dumb as we are, as societies, we should usually fail as big as possible. THAT is my main concern.
Who cares about economy when survival is the ultimate goal?
