1  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: What is the best 7950 card for mining? on: June 09, 2013, 04:22:48 AM
Model numbers are a good identifier. Not all 7950s are made equal. I get 600+ on my Sapphires and recommend them in my build guide at http://www.coinminingrigs.com. Do you have them set up and mining yet?

I do not have them up and mining.  My wife does not want a milk crate set up.  She is concerned that my 4yo will get into it.   So, I'm going to order a haf x cooler master, otherwise I'm going to follow the guidance for to graphics cards shown on your website.  Thank you for putting that up by the way.

I have two sapphires, but I'm concerned that I made a bad purchase.  Does matter which ones I use if I use powered risers?
3  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I have two Sapphire 7950's need rig design suggestions. on: May 16, 2013, 09:44:34 PM
They physically don't fit.  But they also do not seem to be playing well with my father's three year old motherboard.  The screen image started looking bad with flickering horizontal green lines.  I tried each card individually, but each caused the same problem.  They did successfully pull the hashrate that I was expecting individually. (about 500)

I have two Sapphire 7950's that I thought I could fit into an old computer.  I was wrong.  Any suggestions on what to do with them.  I offered to set this up for my 70yo father who is a retired economics professor.  He ordered the cards for me to deal with before he left for a trip to Ireland with my aunt.  I need to know what the most affordable/or effective rig design would be.
5  Economy / Services / Localizing the services section on: May 15, 2013, 11:09:53 PM
Is there any way that we could create a localized section to help facilitate the growth of local bitcoin economies.  I saw a video about something that their doing in the Kreuzberg neighborhood of Berlin.  I would like to help foster a similar local bitcoin economy in the area of Austin, TX.  So if there were any way to create geography based sections within this forum for the local service economy, I would be excited to try and help set that up.  Also, if there is already a section like that in this forum that I have not found yet, I apologize for the post.

Go to malls and ask the manager of the mall if your allowed to hand out certificates for a free 3-10min massage,  It will help your business.

Thanks for the suggestion.

You should think of providing lessons across the web as well, maybe through skype. It may increase the amount of customers you receive, due to you only providing it locally.

I will definitely look into this possibility.

Use something like skype in groups or something?

I'm looking up information on that right now.

This will not be frowned upon by me. You have a yoga business? go to craigslist? Or just create a Live cam Yoga class?

Yes, I have a yoga business.  Curiously, efforts to advertise on craigslist have only led to efforts to scam me by email.  I haven't considered a Live cam class, but that is definitely an idea.  I was primarily posting on here in an effort to integrate my business into the bitcoin economy.  I would love to be paid in bitcoin  by someone who is also being paid in bitcoin, etc.

I am a yoga teacher in Austin, TX.  Is this the appropriate location to pitch private yoga instruction or would this be frowned upon as spam?  I will edit this post with the appropriate information if informed that this is acceptable. Of course, I accept bitcoin. Smiley

Until such time local forums are created, this would seem to be the correct place to do so.

Good luck! Smiley

Are there plans to create local forums?

[Edited to add the following information.]

My website is at http://www.breathandbalancebodyworks.com .

Also feel free to send me a private message if you are interested in my services.  I do have an office/small studio space and I offer great rates for private yoga instruction.  I'm currently set up to take bitcoin and litecoin.  I'm also willing to accept other cryptocurrencies upon request.
12  Bitcoin / Mining support / How is bitcoin mining different from litecoin mining? on: May 15, 2013, 03:23:57 PM
I have been able to successfully mine litecoin on an old 5870 radeon gpu.  The other day bitcoin briefly looked more profitable to mine.  So I tried to reconfigure my setup to mine bitcoin.  I'm using the latest version of cgminer.  It kept instantly crashing.  Could anyone give me some pointers?

You might want to check out this link: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/List_of_alternative_cryptocurrencies#Terracoin_.28TRC.29.  It doesn't have feathercoin yet; but otherwise, it is comprehensive.

The continuous one is PPcoin.  Oops, my bad.

terracoin description:
blocks every 2 minutes, 42 million coins will be available, difficulty adjustment 30 blocks, hashing algorithm SHA-256 Reward 20coins per block
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's the difference between bitcoin and terracoin? on: April 30, 2013, 02:24:34 AM
They seem to be very similar. LTC differs because they have hard algorithm. What about terracoin?

I believ on of the major differences is derived from continuous difficulty adjustment for mining.

I sure wish I could post in this thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=186539.msg1977766#msg1977766

I still cant get my feathercoins out of this guys pool and need to ask for manual payment.

I'm also trying to get into the feathercoin mining.

Could somebody who has escaped the newbie limbo please contact thep33t and refer him to this newbie board to provide assistance with his feathercoin mining pool?
20  Other / Beginners & Help / i forgot my pin number in a mining pool on: April 30, 2013, 01:45:04 AM
I forgot my pin number in a scrypt based mining pool. Specifically, http://feathercoin.is-a-geek.com .  I was wondering what the most effective way to contact thep33t would be.  He manages the pool.  I don't have any shares built up.  I just don't want to have to give up username over this issue.
