1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: can't restore wallet with over 40k btc in it. Please HELP! on: September 13, 2017, 12:59:15 PM
It's interesting to witness a bit of BTC history in this thread.
2  Other / Meta / Re: My bitcointalk-account was hacked, what to do? on: September 11, 2017, 05:47:45 PM
It's only possible if you had a BTC address linked to your account and can send a signed message from that account.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When is my next activity period? on: September 08, 2017, 01:35:38 PM
The next activity period rollover should be on 9/13 I believe.
4  Other / Off-topic / Re: 21 BTC Locked up on: September 05, 2017, 03:30:39 PM
I've seen lots of stories like this over the years. The amount of BTC lost forever is likely much higher than most people think.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need some Help - BitShares, ICOs, Wallets - confused! on: September 04, 2017, 01:21:48 PM

5. What is  good alternative single point solution to store all tokens/ currencies?

Hardware wallets like Ledger Nano S and Trezor are your best bets for secure multi-currency holdings, but neither supports all coins.
6  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: what do you do when your idea is taken ? on: September 01, 2017, 02:43:55 PM
A product is 1% idea and 99% execution. If someone else has the same idea (they will), it shouldn't stop you. Just execute better than they do.

8  Other / Meta / Re: Sad. Images in posts disabled for newbies on: September 01, 2017, 02:14:08 PM
You just need to be active. If I remember correctly you need atleast Jr member to post images. This is mainly to prevent spam. You can see the ranks and the required activity here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

To maximize your activity, you need to post atleast twice a day(though it doesn't mean you should post random sht. Post something constructive). So you need probably around 15 days to get Jr member.

Thanks, you are so nice.

The maximum activity you can achieve is 14 within a two week period, so it takes around 30 days to get to Jr. Member level if you are posting on average 1/day. Posting more than that will get you to 14/28/etc quickly within the current two week period but no higher until the next period ends. The activity just reset on Wednesday (2 days ago) so the current period should go until the middle of Sept.

It's not just you. The forum is quite slow to load sometimes.

This site gives a great breakdown of the ROI of various ICOs since launch:

11  Other / Meta / Re: Drafts section on: August 31, 2017, 01:39:49 PM
I think you have to copy/paste them from the Drafts folder if you want to post in the actual thread. I couldn't find any way to submit them from Draft either.
12  Other / Meta / Re: When does a ranking change on: August 30, 2017, 07:28:22 PM
Hi welcome to bitcointalk forum , I will help as best I can.
below I copy this from another thread, this is the value of the activity needed to rise to the next rank.
For 2 weeks you only got 14 activity , although your post is more than 14 but that counts only 14 every 2 weeks.

1 X 14 = 14
2 X 14 = 28
3 X 14 = 42 Jnr Member ( 1,5 month )

I thought 30 was Jr. Member, no?
13  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin is steadily increasing right? on: August 30, 2017, 06:56:44 PM
I think we are still looking at low price compared to the long term potential of Bitcoin. I mean what 2-3% of the population are aware of Bitcoin and maybe even less own it? Once we hit 10% I think we are going to be off to the races!

I think your estimates are on the high side. Most recents estimates on the total number of people who own any bitcoin at all is something less than 1/50th of a % of the population.

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/50849/beginning-2017-what-estimate-of-individuals-own-bitcoin

As for how many are aware of it, that's even harder to estimate, but I'd be very surprised if it's 2-3%. That many may have heard the term 'bitcoin', but I'd guess it's more like 1/100 or less who actually have an awareness of what it is in reality.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Transaction Fee is Expensive !!! on: August 30, 2017, 06:19:26 PM
When the price of BTC is this high, the transaction fees on small amounts are prohibitively expensive. For sending smaller amounts you'd be better off using a different cryptocurrency. BTC will still be much cheaper than banks, wires, or anything else when sending large amounts.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi may I ask how many days/weeks for my activity to increase? on: August 30, 2017, 12:19:30 PM
Oh Thank God my activity now is increasing! Thanks for the info guys!   Grin
Sometimes it takes a long time before your activity is updated. You just have to be patient, it will change eventually. Mine just got updated today, and I'm a Member now, which is nice. Good luck to you sir.

I read somewhere that it updates on Wednesdays, so that would make sense.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tokens & Coins - are they exactly the same? on: August 30, 2017, 11:26:19 AM
Coins generally involve some kind of mining or staking and are the base layer of their blockchain.

Tokens are just representations of something on a layer on top of that and can be used to work with smart contracts, etc.

Tokens are a bit like the front end of a web site whereas coins would be more like the back end. That's oversimplified of course but might help as a point of reference.

19  Other / Meta / Re: How to Recover My Hacked Account on: August 28, 2017, 06:04:58 PM
The only way is if you had a bitcoin address associated with the account that you can send a signed message from:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

I had a hero level account that I lost the same way about a year ago and was unable to recover.
20  Other / Off-topic / Re: What you would do differently if starting out again on: August 28, 2017, 11:50:08 AM
I would have bought and held more instead of selling portions on the way up.

Hindsight 20/20 of course but having been in crypto since 2012, part of me always knew we'd be where we are today.
