7 minutes to 7PM in Tokyo.

The silence is deafening.

This reminds of that scene in "Trading Places" where everyone is waiting for the orange crop report to be read...

Look at the chart - It's almost time for the next FUD. What'll it be?

Give Proudhon a chance to wake up-- he's the confirmed expert!

Well, there's The Bitcoin Place:

The auction ads are in the Concourse area.

Just got an email that Gox is offering 25% off trading fees for the holidays (12/20/13 - 1/20/14)...

Stock up, folks!  Cheesy

Glad it's not just me that noticed BTC-e is down...

Geocities?  Ouch, that hurts...!!

Well, in any event, we can at least lay claim to one of the rarest bits of television history that you can imagine-- an auction of a quad videotape reel containing the only known videotape footage of Jack Paar's version of the Tonight Show, dating from December of 1959!!

It's up on the site now-- save your satoshis, folks.  This one's not going cheap...!

Now if you'll pardon me, I'd better get to work on those improved graphics...

Are you able to provide the traffic stats? I'm not sure that your website is a fit for us, but if it an untapped market I would be more than willing to give it a shot.

Thank you for your consideration of our site-- as I mentioned, it's been down for a while and is only now being given "grand re-opening", so I'm afraid I couldn't give you any meaningful traffic stats.  (For that matter, I'm curious to see how quickly they grow, myself.)

I can't speak to your concerns about our two companies "fit", but I will say that the CoinsForTech investment (apart from the labor involved in posting your listings) would be minimal; and from this end, I'm happy to do what I can to improve your company's experience with The Bitcoin Place.

If you'd like to continue this conversation privately, you (and in fact, anyone reading this) can always reach me at:  thebitcoinplace@mail.com.

Thanks again for your consideration!

lucaspm98:

Welcome to The Bitcoin Place-- and thanks for the good words!

Sorry I forgot to mention the answer to your question in my opening post-- the commission for all items is a flat 5.00% of the final sale price (excluding shipping, of course).

Good luck with your sale-- looks like a nice little tablet!

For those who are interested in auction sites that allow for a little more extensive presentation of your items-- we hope you'll give us a look.

http://www.thebitcoinplace.com/concourse/

We've been around since May, though there's been some down time recently while we did some adjustments to the site.  But now we're starting back up, and we'd love to see some new listings.

As you can see, we've got an extensive list of available categories, so feel free to get rid of some of those extra mining rigs and Porsches that are taking up space around the house...!  Cheesy

Thanks for your interest-- hope to see everyone there!

- Kevin

EDIT:

Here's an excerpt of one of our early posts concerning the site, which will give you some idea of how the site operates...:

Announcing The Bitcoin Place – the Auction Website powered by Bitcoin!!

The Bitcoin Place is a new twist on the familiar idea of auction websites. At The Bitcoin Place Concourse (our new auction site), all prices and bids are denominated in BTC; and more importantly, the site is dedicated to the maintenance of everyone’s anonymity—you share your information directly with your partner in the transaction, and NOT with anyone else.

Unlike other auction sites, which often require users provide credit card, banking or other personal information, The Bitcoin Place Concourse is dedicated to the idea that mature, responsible adults should have a convenient and attractive buy/sell forum, where they’re able to conduct their deals privately, with an absolute minimum of supervision. You’re an adult—why shouldn’t you be treated like one?

So, how does it work? Well, it’s easy enough—

1. Sellers & Buyers register at the site, using a valid email address. At the same time, they also create their username for The Bitcoin Place. And did I mention that listing items is FREE?  Cheesy

2. Buyers peruse the listings, and bid on the items in BTC (currently in 0.000001 BTC increments). At the end of the auction, the high bidder wins. There are, of course, also set-sale “Buy Now” auctions, where the Buyer can purchase the item for a stated price, without waiting for the auction to end normally.

3. At the conclusion of the auction, an message is sent to the Seller, requesting payment of the site’s 5.00% commission for the transaction.

4. After the commission payment is confirmed, a message is sent to both the Seller & Buyer, containing each person's email address. The Buyer and Seller are then free to discuss payment and shipping/delivery requirements between themselves.

5. Once those details have been worked out, the Buyer pays the final price to the Seller in a private, off-site Bitcoin wallet-to-wallet transaction, or by whatever payment system they have agreed upon.

There’s a little more on the site’s policies at: http://www.thebitcoinplace.com/policies.html

I’ve put a couple of auctions in to get everything started, so I hope everyone will take a look around, and if you like what you see, we hope you’ll try us out.

(And I might add- since those of you looking at this post will be the first potential users of the site, you’ll get first crack at securing the good usernames, before someone else grabs them!)

Anyway—just wanted to let everyone know. If you have any questions, please feel free to post in this thread, and I’ll answer whatever I can.

We’re excited about the potential for The Bitcoin Place Concourse, and we hope to see all of you there!

Finally, regarding burn-in: at present I think it would be best to have Colin, if he's willing, mine for a while against a Bitcoin address under my control (address TBA), and then disperse the funds at that address to everyone's refund addresses according to the percentage of Gh/s they contributed. I figure that will get everyone recouping their investments faster and will keep Colin from having to juggle a bunch of config files.

I haven't talked with Colin about this plan yet, because I wanted to see what you guys thought first. Does this burn-in plan sound good to you?

Sounds fine to me...

Hi all. I'm considering dropping the K1s. Right now we don't have enough orders to make the target price, and there are only a few hours left before I stop taking orders. Would doing this affect anyone's decision to have K16s made via my service?

Nope, doesn't affect my decision...  thanks!

All right-- you talked me into it.  Assuming the delay (if any) is going to be modest, I'm certainly glad to have the added versatility of overclocking potential, so let's go ahead and see how Version 2 shakes out.

(I mean, honestly-- if you're willing to wait, that speaks volumes, since you've got a **lot** more skin in this game than I do!)

I'll also vote for Version I...  I think the hot-rodding can wait a little bit.  Smiley
