I don't understand why the first 500 to 1000 blocks should be worth anything.  The delay makes it fair for all people and pools to get setup.

I was having the same problem, I stopped mining this coin due to this.

I was on zeit.coins4everyone.com and it sucked.  I only pulled 45k in the first 3 hours with 4Mhash.
